Vipers SC 0(2)-0(4) KCCA FC, played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) emerged winners of the 2018 FUFA Super Cup after defeating Vipers SC in the game played on Saturday at Muteesa II stadium,Wankulukuku.
The closely contested encounter ended goalless in 90minjutes but it was KCCA FC who got the edge in the kicks from the penalty mark winning 4-2. No extra time was played.

The game started on a low temple. The first attempt at goal came from Vipers SC new recruit Noah Wafula in the 4th minute whose effort was saved by goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.
On the other end, Bernard Muwanga attempted an over head kick off Mustafa Kizza’s cross but went wide.
Both teams called for changes in the second half with Vipers SC introducing Tito Okello and Brian Kalumba for Frank Tumwesigye and Wafula respectively.

KCCA FC brought on Sadat Anaku and Musa Esenu for Mike Mutyaba and Allan Kyambadde in that order.
Goalkeeper Lukwago made two fine saves to deny Vipers SC from scoring in normal time. First, he parried away Moses Waiswa’s free kick before making a stoppage time save against Dan Muzeeyi Sserunkuma.

The shot stopper carried on with the heroics on the day by saving Aggrey Madoi’s kick from the spot while Moses Waiswa fired wide despite Geoffrey Wasswa and Tito Okello converting.
On the other hand, KCCA FC had all their penalties converted through Mustafa Kizza,Hassan Musana,Bernard Muwanga and Julius Poloto.

Victory for KCCA FC meant they have won the title for the third time and for keeps. They defeated Vipers SC in 2016 and last year when they beat Paidha Black Angels.
The FUFA Super Cup is a contest between the Champions of the Uganda Premier League and the winners of the Uganda Cup.

South Africa 2-0 Uganda
Uganda bowed out of the 2018 COSAFA Women’s Championship after succumbing to a 2-0 loss to hosts and defending champions South Africa.
A goal in either half from Linda Maserame and Jermaine Seoposenne guided the Banyana Banyana to victory in the semifinal encounter played at Wolfson stadium in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.

Crested Cranes head coach Faridah Bulega maintained the same team that started against Zimbabwe in the previous game.
South Africa got an early lead just seven minutes after kickoff with Maserame slotting home after controlling a long ball from Biyana Kholosa.
The Crested Cranes made efforts to search for an equaliser but were not clinical enough to make use of the chances.

Midfielder Shamira Nalujja had her effort just outside the area go wide in the 11th minute. She also had another chance ten minutes later when South Africa defender Alice Motroh lost possession but opted to lay up Lilian Mutuuzo rather than shoot at goal.

The final change for Crested Cranes saw Zaina Namuleme paving way for Spencer Nakachwa but South Africa held on to the score to progress to the final.
Uganda will now shift focus to the third place playoff against Zambia who lost to Cameroon 1-0 in the other semifinal. The game will be played on Friday.

It is in accordance with the FUFA Statutes that all Member Associations shall complete their annual assemblies before the FUFA General Assembly.
It allows resolutions and reports from Members Associations be agreed on before they are presented in the FUFA Annual General Assembly for discussion.

Buganda Province will host West Nile in the first leg of the highly anticipated FUFA Drum final after the draws were held on Wednesday during the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo. The trophy was also for the first time presented to the media. The FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson delivered the trophy to the press conference room.

The first leg of the inaugural edition will take place on 30th September 2018 with Buganda Province hosting West Nile at Bishop SS, Mukono and the return leg at Green Light stadium in Arua is slated for 6th October 2018.

Speaking about the impact of the tournament in its first edition, FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo indicated there has been a lot of positives achieved and is confident the future is bright.
‘I congratulate the two Provinces that managed to reach the finals. It is always important to be the first in attaining anything. As FUFA, we are proud with the team that organised the tournament right from the start and we can comfortably say we achieved our targets’ said Magogo before adding;

‘Our first target was to give footballers more playing time and that has been achieved. Additionally, we want to use football as a unifying factor and it was evident in so many places where the games were played’
The FUFA President went ahead to point out places like Arua, Fort Portal and Gulu where people came out in big numbers and stated the future is bright.
‘We have a story to tell after the end of the first edition. The Buganda anthem was played in Gulu for the first time in a long time, the Omukama of Tooro watched a game at Buhinga stadium and people paid to watch a game in Karamoja’ noted teh former football player Eng. Magogo.
At the same press briefing, West Nile and Buganda were represented with captain Abdu Malik Vitalis Tabu and assistant captain Rajab Jooga respectively who vowed to emerge champions.

Tabu indicated West Nile is focused on making sure they win the title and are unfazed about meeting Buganda in the final. Vitalis picked the ball that had a paper indicating Away fixture for the 1st leg.
‘I first want to thank FUFA and the President for organizing such a tournament which gives us a sense of belonging and celebrating our ancestry. As West Nile, we are prepared to make sure we win the title. We are not afraid of Buganda because we have the ability to defeat any team. This is a walk over. West Nile isn’t about Vitalis alone but very many people and star players. We have been praying for Buganda to reach the final from the onset of the tournament. Buganda will get to know what it means playing in West Nile’ said Tabu

Jooga stated that starting at home gives Buganda advantage and will complete the job away like it has been the case in the quarterfinals and the semifinals.
‘We have always started at home and been able to complete the task away. We therefore just call upon our fans to come in big numbers and rally behind us. We are Buganda and must always remain on top. We enjoy starting the 1st leg matches at home then complete the job away. We have recorded many 1-0 wins but such scores are ideal during tournaments’ ‘ said Jooga who plays for Kyetume FC.

100 million shillings has been set aside for the inaugural edition in terms of prize money and it was also confirmed that both the first and return leg will be broadcast live on TV.
To reach the final, Buganda eliminated Bukedi province while West Nile edged past Busoga in the semifinals.

The dates for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double header between Uganda and Lesotho have been confirmed.

‘We would like to confirm the date for the AFCON 2019 Qualifier between Uganda Cranes and Lesotho. The date that has been confirmed is Saturday 13th October at Namboole with Kickoff set for 4pm. The charges will remain UgX 15,000 Ordinary , UgX 40,000 VIP and UgX 150,000 VVIP. We believe that the fans will come to support the national team beacause the back to back matches are very important for the Uganda Cranes’ said Hussein

FUFA has confirmed the match officials for the 2018 FUFA Super Cup scheduled for Saturday 22nd September 2018 at Muteesa II stadum, Wankulukuku. The communication was released by FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein during the FUFA weekly press Conference on Wednesday Morning.
Nsubuga Brian Miiro was chosen as the centre referee, Okello Dick 1st assistant referee and Masembe Issa the 2nd assistant referee. Ali Sabila will be the 4th official while Wasswa Ali- Referees’ assessor.

However, it was confirmed in the same pressing that Vipers SC will be considered the home team by virtue of their currnet status from last season (Reigning Uganda Premier League Champions) and KCCA FC the Stanbic Uganda Cup holders will be the away team.

The CAF Young Talent Referees’ Course officially ended at Sheraton hotel, Kampala with remarks from the FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha who represented the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
The course, the first of its kind in Uganda attratced well over 40 referees.

Integrity is key if you are to go higher as young referees. Our mission as FUFA is to make Uganda the number one nation in Africa on and off the pitch by developing, promoting and protecting the game of football. When it comes to protecting, it is mainly referees that we look forward to’ said Mugisha
He further appealed to CAF to give more opportunities to Uganda to host such courses in the future because they have the capacity.

CAF Referees’ Committee member Pierre-Alain Mounguengui also emphasised to the refereees that practice will keep them in the know of what they have learnt from the course.

The Uganda National beach soccer team will travel on Wednesday morning (2am) aboard Ethiopian Airlines for the return leg of the AFCON Beach soccer qualifier against Ivory Coast on Friday afternoon in Abidjan. However team skipper Somach Roch misses the trip due to an injury he picked up during training on Tuesday morning.

FUFA Football Managers Course for CAF A Licenced coaches in Uganda has rolled off at Jevine Hotel, Rubaga in Kampala.
The course is aiming at facilitating the coaches with knowledge that will qualify them to become accomplished managers for clubs and players.
The new course consists of 4 modules in the areas of leadership and Management, coaches and their performance, professional communications, Business Marketing and Finance Management.

However, the modules are to be taught in three different demacated periods with in three months. The first one kicked off on Monday 17th and will run till 21st September 2018 at Jevine Hotel.
The second enrollment is set for January 10th to 15th 2019 at FUFA Technical Center and the last will be attended from 10th -15th February 2019 at Jevine Hotel.
While facilitating the coaches, FIFA Instructor Eng. Magogo urged coaches to improve on their computer skills in acquiring statistical information for players and the team.
He cautioned coaches not to engage in doping activities and advised them to always be in position to have an idea of the latest status of their club players.

Furthermore, Eng Magogo emphasized coaches to understand the contracts and agreements of their players.
‘As we plan to have the best coaches on the continent, we must educate you to become Club Managers. You should improve on your computer skills that are vital in acquiring statistical information for your players and the team’ said Eng Magogo.
‘You should not engage yourselves in doping activities and always monitor the status of your players. You should also follow the contracts of your players so that you can understand when and how to renew them’ added Eng Magogo added.

‘We are here to conduct a new Club Managers course for CAF A licensed coaches. The course will be spread into three sections ‘ said Nyiima

Uganda breezed through to the semifinals of this year’s COSAFA Women’s Championship after a blistering performance against Zimbabwe on Monday.
The Crested Cranes registered a 2-1 win to finish top in group C on seven points and advance to the last four stage.

Nalukenge who came on for Resty Nanziri in the 55th minute broke the deadlock with 17 minutes on the clock after all the donkey work from youngster Lilian Mutuuzo. The latter got injured in the process and was replaced by Norah Alupo.

Uganda finished top in group C on seven points ahead of Zimbabwe(six), Namibia(four) and Swaziland with no point.
The Uganda National Women footbaal team-Crested Cranes settled for a goalless draw against Namibia in their second group game at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.
After winning 4-3 against Swaziland in the opening game, the team coached by Faridah Bulega remained unbeaten picking a point off Namibia in the second game played at Wolfson stadium on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

Bulega made five changes from the team that started against Swaziland including handing defender Aisha Namukisa and midfielder Shamira Nalujja their national team debuts.
Namukisa started in place of Bridget Nabisaalu while Nalujja replaced Riticia Nabbosa who started on the bench.
The other changes in the team saw Grace Aluka start at left back with Viola Namuddu who played in that position against Swaziland moving to her usual right back and team captain Tracy Jones Akiror returning to the midfied.

16 year old Mutuuzo who had a scintillating performance at the just concluded CECAFA Women’s Championship in Rwanda also returned to the starting lineup replacing Norah Alupo. The other change saw Phiona Nabbumba pave way for towering Shadia Nankya in defence.

During the course of the game, Bulega called for changes introducing Juliet Nalukenge for Hasifa Nassuna while Phiona Nabbumba and Norah Alupo replaced Resty Nanziri and Lilian Mutuuzo respectively.

Despite efforts to secure maximum points, Namibia were resilient enough to deny the Crested Cranes while on the other hand, shot stopper Ruth Aturo made fine saves to register a clean sheet.

The Physical fitness test of partcipants under the ‘CAF Young Talent Referees course’ ended successfully on Saturday morning at Mandela National Stadium.
Close to 41 participants including 6 from Uganda were taken through the routine tests. All Ugandan referees passed with flying colours. Shamirah Nabadda, Nantabo Lydia, Dick Okello, William Oloya, Ronald Katenya and Issa Masembe are representing Uganda at the course.

The course is facilitated by CAF Instructors, An Yan Lim Kee Chong (Mauritius), Felix Tangawarima (Zimbabwe), Constance Catherine Adipo (Uganda), Cherifi Nasradine (Algeria), Pierre Alain Mounguengui (Gabon) and Eddy Maillet (Seychelles).

Opening cermeony held on Meanwhile on Friday afternoon the CAF Young Referees’ Course has officially got underway at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

However, FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo in his address, urged the young referees to promote fairness when officiating.

‘I’m very delighted to be here as the President of football in Uganda. We need to plan in whatever we are doing to take African Football to the next level. Refereeing is a key component in developing the game of football. The best players, the best coaches and the best teams can only be determined using the 17 Laws of football. We need to have the people to interpret, apply the laws correctly and fairly to all. Meanwhile, Kalema praised CAF for giving Uganda the opportunity to host the course and stated that it will enhance the development of the game in Uganda.
‘As a country we shall benefit from hosting such an event. It is the first of its kind here in Uganda. We have the highest number of participants in the course. It will help us to achieve our Vision of being the number one football Nation in Africa on and off the pitch’ said Uganda Football Referees Association Chairman Kalema.

Nabisaalu Bridget, Nabbosa Riticia, Nabbumba Phiona, Mutiibwa Shakira, Alupo Norah started against Swaziland but will come off the bench this afternoon if called upon by the head coach Faridah Bulega to make any contribution against Namibia. The changes were made following the arrival of 6 more players in camp onWednesday from Kampala who never travelled with the initial squad.
Experienced security expert Dixon Okello and match Commissioner Mike Letti have been appointed by CAF for the Champions League Quarterfinal fixtures to be played later this month.
Okello who has been at various sporting events as security officer including the FIFA World Cup (2010 South Africa) and Olympic Games in London (2012) will make his debut on the continent for CAF duties in the game between Al Ahly of Egypt and Horoya AC of Guinea.
The match will be played in Alexandria on 22nd September, 2018. Okello will work alongside with Mohamed Dellagi of Tunisia who will be the other security officer.

Letti-a former player now match Commissioner will be in charge of another highly anticipated Quarterfinal clash between Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and ES Setifienne of Algeria on 21st September 2018.
