FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo and the FUFA Executive met on Saturday afternoon at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala with former football leaders on matters concerning thhe beautiful game in Uganda.
The aim of the FUFA President’s Initiative was to interact, seek counsel, cement the existing relationships with FUFA and the football elders.
During the function Eng. Magogo applauded and commended the football elders for their contribution and support towards the game of football. He admitted that the elders are part of the current success in football.
Eng. Magogo notified the guests that FUFA will invite the football elders annually to share ideas and advocated to maintain the spirit to be part of the Initiative.

‘We came up with this initiative to involve you in the planning and development of football. You are part of our success story. Without you we wouldn’t have achieved this success in football. We should make football a family. It should be a game where we enjoy but not a platform to hate and fight. It is not a game for creating enemies. It is a game for friendship and joy. We shall be meeting annually to have your ideas and guidance towards football. FUFA is open. We want to listen not only to credits but even criticism. It is what helps us know our weaknesses’
‘FUFA has a lot to work upon but we need your support that is why we decided to come up with this initiative. We are working hard to educate people in football and it is in our plan to have your ideas in the General Assembly. We believe our connection will be growing and getting organized as time comes. People of this forum should be Ambassadors of football in our Country’

Talking on behalf of the elders, Mr. Kwizera Godfrey the former FUFA Vice President admired FUFA for recognizing past football leaders and supported the Initiative. He confirmed that the elders are ready to advise FUFA regarding football matters.

Uganda Cubs shared spoils with the Busoga Masaza Cup reigning champions Butembe football club on Saturday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in an epic clash. It was the third trial match for the Cubs.

The mouthwatering friendly that saw each side scoring for fun and pride but with purpose, marked the “Eninha Yo’mupiira’s” (literally meaning The source of football) Butembe FC, exhibit tantalising first half football with goals pouring from all angles.
Following a 2-0 win for Uganda Cubs against Bugweri County team on Saturday morning, another valuable well timed testing game came from Butembe in the afternoon.

Ashraf Batambuze and Ronald Obere opened the scoring in 9th and 25th minutes for Butembe though Uganda Cubs’ Ivan Asaba was quick to level and cancel Batambuze’s effort but also new recruit Obere was on target again. Yasin Awanyi got hiss name on the score sheet to make it 2 all for U-17 team before halftime break.
In the second half, Butembe’s Isaac Twaboona got his name among the scorers when he saw his thunderbolt go past Cubs goalie Oluka Goerge William to make it 3-2. However their joy didn’t last long when Thomas Kakaire curled in a nice ball to level matters 3-3 in the 86th minute.

The Uganda Women Senior Team (Crested Cranes) finished runners-up in the just concluded 2018 CECAFA Challenge Cup in Rwanda.
The Crested Cranes collected 7 points from 4 matches to finish second losing the first position to Tanzania on goal difference.
Uganda defeated Kenya 1-0 in the first game, saw off Ethiopia in the second fixtureby 2-1 before falling to Tanzania 4-1.

On Wednesday, Uganda was held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Rwanda-a result that dashed the hopes of the Crested Cranes to win their maiden title.
Tanzania defeated Ethiopia 4-1 in the last game to level with Uganda on 7 points. Nevertheless, they were crowned champions for the second time in a row while Rwanda lost to Kenya in the second game on the closing day by 2-0.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s shot stopper Aturo Ruth was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament after putting up a good show.

‘ I was determined and focused not to let my team lose. I’m so glad I have won the award. I thank my teammates for the support, without them I wouldn’t have achieved this. No one realised we could reach this far but we believed in ourselves. It’s a great achievement to me and the team’ said Aturo Ruth.
The Crested Cranes received a runners-up prize money of 1500$ from the organisers while Tanzania took $2500 prize money and a trophy. Ethiopia took $1000 after finishing third.

FUFA President’s Initiative-Meeting former leaders of football in Uganda.

FUFA has confirmed that they will hold a get together of former and current leaders under the FUFA President’s Initiative on 28th August 2018 at Imperial Royale aimed at engaging, sharing ideas and seeking counsel from the elders.
Founded in 1924, FUFA remains the strongest sports body in Uganda and has enjoyed a steady growth with sporting results attained over the period of its existence.

The Crested Cranes’ hopes of clinching their maiden 2018 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup Rwanda was brought to an end on Wednesday following a 2-2 draw with Rwanda.
Despite dominating possession and taking the lead on two occasions at Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo, the Crested Cranes couldn’t get the much needed three points.

Uganda U17 NAtional team got the chance to test themselves in a practice match on Wednesday against Super Cubs featuring in the Rubaga District League, winning comfortably 5-1 at FUFA Technical center, Njeru.
The match is part of the preparations for the CAF U17 AFCON Qualifiers that will start on 11th August 2018 in Tanzania. Super Cubs is a 4th Division League team.

Uganda will face Ethiopia in the first game of CAF U17 qualifiers on 12th August in Tanzania.
The prestigious FUFA Drum tournament returns this weekend with the most exciting stage of the last four teams.
West Nile will host Busoga in Arua at Green Light Stadium while Buganda will play Bukedi at home in Mukono at Bishop Ss Grounds both games on Sunday 29th July.
The four Provinces are expected to put up their best football as they battle to put one foot into the main final to be played over two legs.

The team convened for the preparations on Monday afternoon with 21 players while Rogers John (Onduparaka FC JT), Iddi Abdul Wahid (Onduparaka FC JT), Kenty Anthony (Onduparaka FC JT) and Muber Jimmy (St Peters Primary School – Wakiso) will join the team on Tuesday 24th July.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) communications workshop for Uganda Premier League (UPL), FUFA Big League and Regional Football Association media officers reached its climax on Saturday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
The five-day workshop was intended to improve and empower media officers with latest trends in communications models to suit the modern day football industry.
Over 40 participants were taken through different modules including theoretical and practical sessions on pre, during and post match-day activities, media graphics, organising different types of press conferences, photography, commentary, videography, digital public relations, and growing trends in football.

‘We have a five(5) year strategic plan of developing the game of football therefore FUFA designed this programme to empower you with skills on how to develop the game of football through communiation. Participants appreciated the training, a first of its kind, which has added value on top of their professional media backgrounds.
“The training has equipped us with knowledge on how to communicate in football with internal and external stakeholders as well as handling challenges in public relations. This is a huge step taken by the federation in improving football in all departments,” said Paul Kulumba, the Public Relations Officer of Kirinya Jinja SS FC.
“This course is very relevant and has come at a time our clubs need most because of lack of professionalism in areas of communication. This course has given us a clear understanding of the roles of a club media officer,” added Sharon Adong, SC Villa Jogoo media manager.

The Uganda National women team Crested Cranes are delivering on all fronts but leaving their doubters in the cold corner following two wins out of two matches in the ongoing CECAFA Women Challenge Cup in Rwanda.

The one day rest played the magic and when the ladies got the chance to return to action today, they played gallantly and with heart to secure three points. However they fell to a first half goal in the 39th minute but that didn’t deter their spirits as they kept on searching for the leveler.

Left fullback Grace Aluka who hit the cross bar on Thursday against Kenya from the free-kick, got it better this time against Ethiopia when the opportunity came her way to get the equaliser for Crested Cranes to make it 1-1 after the break.
Another pivotal player in the defence of the Crested Cranes Yudaya Nakayenze was on the mark with a header after a free kick was delivered by right back Viola Namuddu.
Crested Craes’ Lillian Mutuuzo was unplayable again today.
The game ended 2-1 in favour of Crested Cranes. Uganda will return to action on Monday against Tanzania in a tournament played on a round robin basis.

Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien got the real love from the people of Kasese when the National team kicked off the 2018 regional tours this weekend.
It was the first time for the Frenchman to take the Uganda Cranes out on the tour. Kitara named a team as per the rules and regulations of the competition (Non Uganda premier League players) but matched the Uganda Cranes players over the 90 minutes.
The match attended by mammoth crowds ended in a 2-2 at Nyakasanga grounds-Kasese. Uganda Cranes took the lead through Allan Kyambadde before Kitara equalised through Robert Baruku. Kitara later scored their second to send the home fans in total joy. Rogers Lwebuga was the man who had raised Kitara’s hopes with a possible winner over Cranes until Daniel Sserunkuma dashed their hopes of picking up a first ever win over Cranes of the Regional Tours. Uganda Cranes has played Kitara three times-won 2 of the outings.

Uganda Cranes Head coach Sebastien Desabre has expressed utmost excitement about the National team’s regional tour campaign. championed by team sponsors Airtel Uganda and partners Nile special as an opportunity for him to access and identify new players.

FUFA Communications Workshop 17th July-21st July 2018 FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
FUFA’s 5 year strategic plan has taken a firm ground with yet another capacity building session by organising a Communications workshop for the Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League and Regional Football Association media officers at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The workshop running from 17th -21st July 2018 has also attracted the National team media officers .
Over 40 media officers are part of the training that is aiming at empowering the group with the latest communication basics of the modern game through theory and practical sessions.
The training has equipped media officers on how to Communicate in football with internal and the external stakeholders and handle challenges with public relations.
The course modules covered practicals for the media officers on how to control, handle non match Day and Match Day games activities that involve pre-match interviews and post match interviews.
The other topics covered saw the Media officers taken through sessions in organising press conferences, filling the Media start list, match graphics, mixed zone interviews, post match conferences, Live Commentary, videography, photography and live streaming.

Media officer also had tutorial theory sessions in digital public relations, ethics and integrity which are all part of the training.

This is one of the steps FUFA has taken to professionalise Club football through capacity building in order to fulfill the vision of becoming the number one football Nation on the continent.
Fifteen (15) out of 16 Uganda Premier League clubs registered for the workshop. FUFA Big League side Proline FC are also represented in Njeru. Express FC and Paidha Black Angles FC missed out on the training.

Kenya (Harambee Starlets) 0-1 Uganda (Crested Cranes)
Uganda Women National Team-Crested Cranes edged Kenya in the opening match of the 2018 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup played at the Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo on Thursday.
The Crested Cranes won 0-1 with teenager Lillian Mutuuzo scoring the goal in the 7th minute.
Mutuuzo who was born on 22nd December 2002 plays on the right wing but was a thorn to Kenya’s backline.

The starting line-up of Crested Cranes (Uganda Women National team) to face Kenya today afternoon in the CECAFA Women Championship in Rwanda has been released by head coach Faridah Bulega.

After safely arriving in the Rwandan Capital-Kigali on Tuesday morning, the Uganda Women National football team -Crested Cranes and all the officials were accommodated at Hotel Hilltop and Country Club.
On Tuesday evening, the girls from the Pearl of Africa under female tactician Faridah Bulega with the help of Edward Kaziba and James Magala-Goalkeepers’ coach together with the fitness trainer Oliver Mbekeka conducted their first training in Kigali at the Mumena artificial turf stadium.

The main focus during the training was ball control and passing, long range shooting plus how to deal with dead ball situations.
The coach’s excitement was noticeable after the training which she later shared with fufa.co.ug that the girls are in fine shape.

“I have a reason to smile due to the positive reaction from my players. We have been dealing with shooting from a distance and dead ball situations to cub the goal drought from our team. In this situation we also chose who is to take responsibility when the team wins set pieces” said Bulega

She added that her preparations aren’t focused at a specific team but which ever opponent who comes her way.

Five teams are taking part in this year’s competition that is Rwanda (hosts), Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda.
The Crested Cranes will train today at 2pm (Uganda time) at Stade De Kigali ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Kenya.
