    Crested Cranes picked up yet another win by defeating UCU Lady Cardinals 2-0 in a build-up match played at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Campus in Kabojja on Good Friday.

    Hasifah Nassuuna opened the scoring on six minutes before substitute Spencer Nakachwa doubled her team’s lead in the 75th minute.

    ‘We are getting stronger each passing day. The fitness levels of the team are not top notch. The spirits are high and all players are learning a lot of new things during this camp. We shall give our best. I am happy the balls are crossing the goal line’ said Head coach Faridah Bulega.

    Spencer Nakachwa entertained the fans with skill and pace. Her efforts were paid off with a fine goal.

    Crested Cranes who edged Kampala Select 2-1 on Wednesday are using these practice games to fine tune the players ahead of the Total AFCON Women 2018 Qualifiers.

    Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the five match officials who will handle the first leg of the AFCON U-20 qualifier between Uganda and South Sudan this Saturday at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo.

    All the referees are from Sudan with the match commissioner Gaspard Kayijuka coming from Rwanda.

    Meanwhile, the Uganda Hippos team will continue with training on Friday at 2 p.m for the last session.

    The visitors, whose first batch arrived on Thursday evening will train at 4 pm at Lugogo for one hour as mandated by the CAF competitions rules and regulations.

    The South Sudan delegation is accomodated at Mount Zion Hotel in the heart of Kampala city.

    The Uganda U-17 team continued with its preparations for the forthcoming CECAFA Challenge cup in Burundi by winning yet another build up match convincingly at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

    CECAFA Secretariat has communicated the new dates for the tournament from 14th-29th April, 2018. Three venues have been confirmed as; Ngozi, Muyinga and Gitega.

    Initially the tournament was to start on 1st and end 15th April, 2018.

    Uganda U-17 team won 12-0 against Football for Good. The Gulu based side was playing at the artificial turf for the first time.

    Peter One’s team has now won three build up matches. The Cubs defeated Namutumba District school champions Agape SS 5-0 and saw off Kirinya Jinja Ss Junior team 3-2.

    With less than two days to the first leg of the TOTAL AFCON U-20 qualifier between Uganda Hippos and opponents from South Sudan, the home side has intensified training.

    On Wednesday, the team had a double session with the morning session at the Africa Bible University for one hour before the afternoon session which took place at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo.

    Head coach Mathias Lule was joined by his assistants James Odoch and Samuel Kawalya as well as the the Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre and trainer Gerome D’Antonio who shared their ideas with the youngsters.

    ‘Training has been good and the response of the players superb. We call upon the fans to come in large numbers and support the team at Lugogo this Saturday’ Lule told www.fufa.co.ug.

    The team captain is Julius Poloto and his assistant is Musitafa Mujjuzi.

    ‘We shall give our best during the match because qualification is the prime objective. We have so far had the best training in the last week’ Poloto, a two time Azam Uganda Premier league winner with KCCA FC assures.

    The National Women team-Crested Cranes got the better of a Kampala Select team by winning the build-up match organized by the technical team to assess the fitness of players.

    The Crested Cranes won the match 2-1 played at the Islamic University of Uganda (IUIU) Campus in Kabojja.

    2016 FUFA player of the year Hasifah Nassuuna and Juliet Nalukenge netted for Crested Cranes while Uganda Martyr’s Gloria Namugerwa converted a penalty late in the game for Kampala Select.

    The skillful Nassuuna capitalized on a defensive mix up to give Crested Cranes the lead early in the first half before substitute Nalukenge used her goal poaching instincts to double her team’s lead in the second half.

    Nassuuna was in total control of the game. She netted one of her team’s two goals.

    The Kampala Select team had a bigger presence of players from the FUFA Women Elite League reigning champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School who gave the Crested Cranes a run for their money.

    Head coach for the Crested Cranes Faridah Bulega was impressed by her team’s performance.

    ‘I liked the test given to us by our opponents. The players enjoyed the match. We shall keep pushing to get the best out the team in the remaining days before we travel to Kenya’ said Bulega.

    Aturo Ruth was called into action during the game to take care of the aerial balls.

    Ayub Khalifan and Nkata Moses were in charge of the Kampala Select team.

    Crested Cranes used the match as a build up to the two legged qualifiers against Kenya, with the first leg due next week on 4th April in Machakos. The return leg is set for Sunday 8th April at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

    Uganda Crested Cranes players have expressed their satisfaction over the way they are being handled in residential camp at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) female campus Kabojja.

    A total of 26 players have today entered day four of their residential training at the University grounds, ahead of their encounter with Kenya Harambe Starlets on Wednesday next week.

    Midfielder Tracy Jonnes Akiror, who has been part of the team since 2016, said they are going through the best basics in training and that there is good feeding.

    ‘We are feeling fine and our coaches are doing the needful of guiding the entire team. We are getting set for the final input to be replicated on to the pitch into action with all the basics the coaches have given to the team. We shall deliver’ said Akiror

    Striker Zainah Namuleme who is also among the younger crop on the team said the changes in the team will help get a descent result.

    ‘We have lost to Kenya twice, but this time around, players and coaches on both teams have changed and from the training we have received, we are not scared about our opponents’ noted Namuleme.

    The Crested Cranes travel by road to Kenya on Saturday ahead of the first leg game that will be played on Wednesday in Machakos, Kenya before the second leg at StarTimes Lugogo on April 8.

    Uganda Cranes have played to a non scoring draw against Malawi during an international build up match played on Tuesday at Mandela National Stadium.

    This was the second international build up match played in three days following Saturday’s emphatic 3-1 victory against Sao Tome and Principe at the same venue.

    Yunus Sentamu had a chance in the first half to give Uganda Cranes the lead but his left footed shot after dribbling past two defender hit the side netting.

    Goalkeeper and captain Denis Onyango made two world class saves to help the Uganda Cranes at least earn a point from the game.

    Abraham Ndugwa was the first player to be introduced in the 52nd minute when came on for Milton Karisa.

    William Kizito Luwagga replaced Emmanuel Arnold Okwi after an hour of action before Sentamu paved way for Derrick Nsibambi.

    Striker Fahad was the final substitution, replacing Joseph Ochaya, deep in added time.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo was among the high profile guests who watched the game.

    The two matches (against Sao Tome and Principe as well as that of Malawi) were meant to prepare the Uganda Cranes in the upcoming matches of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers against Tanzania and Lesotho.

    The national women football team, The Crested Cranes continues to train in preparation for the AFCON Women qualifier against Kenya.

    The team of 26 players and 8 officials, entered residential camp on Sunday evening at Islamic University Kabojja, after having spent five days of non-residential training at Namboole Stadium outer pitch.

    Helped by her assistants Edward Kaziba (Assistant Coach), Olive Mbekeka (Physical Trainer) and goal keeping coach James Magala, Bulega is the lead coach, usually taking the players through the drills and later ball work.

    “The training sessions have been long and I am happy the players responded well. They are impressing and if we keep like this then they shall be ready enough for the game,” Bulega noted.

    Uganda Crested Cranes will face Kenya Haraambe Starlets in the first leg of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier Next week Wednesday April 4 2018 at Machakos Stadium.

    The return leg will be played on April 8, 2018 at the Star Times Stadium Lugogo.

    CAF Secretary General, Amr Fahmy, his deputy Anthony Baffoe, CAF Futsal and beach committee chairman Eng, Moses Magogo, his vice chairman Leodegar Tenga and the committee members were among the high profile guests that witnessed the historic event.

    Also in attendance were the Mayor of Entebbe Municipality Vicent Kayanja De Paul and his executive committee, Project Engineer Dauda Kawadwa, the Uganda Beach Soccer Association chairman Deo Mutabazi, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, FUFA Development officer Ali Mwebe, FUFA Beach Soccer Delegate Anthony Tumwesigye as well as the head of project, Justus Mugisha.

    ‘This is a great moment for the development of beach soccer in Uganda and the CECAFA Region. I thank FUFA for the initiative. Please keep up the good work’ Tenga, who represented the CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad said.

    The Entebbe Municipality mayor Kayanja, flanked by the site engineer Kawadwa. works committee chairman Jimmy Mutabazi and town clerk Daniel Fred Lutaaya, thanked FUFA for the idea of bringing the beach soccer facility in his area.

    ‘I thank FUFA for the idea of bringing such a great facility here. Once completed, the stadium will host CECAFA and we shall be glad for the opportunities that come with sports tourism to Entebbe Municipality. The whole project is environmentally friendly’ Kayanja noted.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, also the chairman of Futsal and Beach Soccer committee thanked CAF for allowing to organize the committee meeting in Uganda, a development that also conceded with the arena opening.

    ‘We started thinking of this project as soon as CECAFA awarded Uganda the hosting rights of the 2018  CECAFA Beach soccer championship. We thank National Forestry Authority and the Entebbe Municipal Council for all the efforts of helping us secure this land. It will be implemented in three phases. The architectural designs were completed. Now, we are leveling to ensure the playing surface is ready and we shall add sand. We thank CAF for all the efforts of ensuring Uganda prospers’ Eng. Magogo stated.

    A ceremonial stone was officially unveiled with a tree planted as a justification of conserving the environment.

    According to the head of project, Justus Mugisha, the project will be completed by May 2018, well in time for the 2018 CECAFA Beach Soccer championship where hosts Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zanzibar, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia and Eritrea are confirmed.

    The match against Malawi comes another day for Sebastian Desabre’s battalion to showcase  talent and readiness for competition of places in the starting lineup ahead of African Cup of Nations qualifiers in September 2018 against Tanzania and Lesotho.
    During Monday’s training session, Desabre centered most on players agility, players urgency with and without ball, defending and attacking in numbers, diagonal play, creating scoring opportunities and goal scoring techniques amongst other football aspects.

    This is the second national team encounter for the Senior Team A, The Cranes Coach Sebastian Desabre is taking charge at home and he is looking at these matches to assess the players ability and potential.

    CAF Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee meeting successfully concludes in Uganda

    The Confederation of African Football Association (CAF) Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee meeting held at Protea Hotel (Marriott Hall), Entebbe, Uganda on Monday, 26th March 2018 has successfully concluded with key proposals deliberated upon.

    Eng. Moses Magogo, the FUFA President and CAF Executive Committee member chaired the meeting, deputized by Tanzanian, Leodegar Tenga.

    In attendance also was the CAF General Secretary, Amr Fahmy, his deputy Anthony Baffoe as well as the Futsal and Beach Soccer committee members and the FUFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson.

    ‘We are glad as a country that Uganda requested to host such a committee meeting which was granted in line with the ideology of CAF President Ahmad Ahmad’s rotational policy of hosting these meetings. We discussed key proposals which will forwarded to the CAF Executive Committee’ Eng. Magogo briefed the media after the historic meeting.

    The group thereafter officially commissioned the FUFA Beach Soccer Arena at Kitubulu on the shores of Lake Victoria.

    The committee members toured FUFA Headquarters at Mengo and later watched a futsal match at the Futsal International Courts, Mengo – Kampala.

    Parakeets overcame Typhoons 4-3 in an action packed game full of life and passion.

    There will be a farewell dinner for the visiting delegation later on Monday evening before departure.

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) continues with yet another busy week of multi-tasking.

    At present, the Federation is logistically handling four national teams at one go as they all prepare for different competitions and tasks put forward for them to accomplish.
    Uganda Cranes, the senior men’s football team remains in camp at Ivy’s Hotel Wakaliga for the second build up match against Malawi on Tuesday following Saturday’s comprehensive 3-1 victory over West Africans, Sao Tome and Prinicipe.
    The Crested Cranes (Women Football Team) entered residential camp at the IUIU Kabojja campus preparing for Women’s Africa Cup of Nations double legged qualifier against Kenya.
    In the same vein, the national U-17 team (Cubs) is camped at the FUFA Technical Center in preparation for the U17 CECAFA tourney in Burundi (1st -14th April 2018)
    Uganda Hippos (U-20 national team) will this coming Saturday face CECAFA arch-rival South Sudan in the  first of the two legs this Saturday at Lugogo during the U-20 African Nations Championship qualifiers.

    CAF Secretary General, Amr Fahmy and his Deputy Anthony Baffoe were joined by the FUFA President, also a CAF Executive committee member and chairman of the Futsal and beach soccer committee Eng.Moses Magogo at Lido.

    Strong CAF delegation arrives in Uganda ahead of Futsal and Beach Soccer meeting

    A strong delegation from Confederation of African Football (CAF) has arrived in Uganda ahead of a high profile Futsal and Beach Soccer meeting.

    The officials led by the CAF Secretary General, Amr Fahmy and his Deputy Anthony Baffoe arrived at Entebbe International Airport 3:15 a.m on Sunday morning.

    Majority traveled aboard Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways and they were received by the FUFA entrouge at the Entebbe International Airport.

    FUFA Vice Presidents Justus Mugisha, Darius Mugoye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson and his Deputy Humphrey Mandu officially welcomed the guests to the country  before they checked in at the nearby Hotel Protea, Entebbe, which is just a stone throw away from the Airport.

    “FUFA and Uganda is glad to receive our special visitors. Uganda will host the CAF Committee meeting on Futsal and beach soccer at Protea Hotel on Monday,” Watson noted.

    The FUFA President and CAF Executive Committee member, Eng. Moses Magogo is the President of the Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee.

    The Members of the Committee will preside over the official ground breaking of a beach soccer facility in Kitubulu, Entebbe and also watch a beach soccer league game later on in the day at Lido Beach.

    On Monday morning they will hold a meeting at Protea Hotel, while in the afternoon, visit FUFA House, watch a fustal match at the International Fustal Courts of Uganda in Kisenyi.

    On Saturday, 24th March 2018, the Uganda Cranes convincingly won 3-1 against West Africans Sao Tome and Principe in the first of the two international build up matches planned for the international break.

    Goals from Joseph Benson Ochaya (Lusaka Dynamos, Zambia), Murusid Jjuuko (Simba, Tanzania) and Abraham Ndugwa (Masavu, Uganda) won the day.

    Jose Varelea scored the consolation for the visiting team.
