It is my great pleasure to congratulate you on the support you have given to football. Both internal and external stakeholders have played a significant role in shaping the trajectory of our sport in recent years. Success is what we all work for in life.
I am proud to say that our administration has achieved numerous success stories, making FUFA leadership look effortless.
In 2013, certain things seemed impossible, but today they have become basic. Our success has been defined by the Know-How that we have acquired by training and experience, the hours we have committed to the game, the self and institution discipline that we have exhibited, driven by our passion, hunger to succeed and thereafter the Will of God.
We have introduced innovations and engineered changes that some thought were impossible or not priorities. The outcome has vindicated our efforts.
Football is a rapidly evolving industry that demands attention to detail. It is time to focus on collective progress rather than assigning blame or taking credit. The game requires positive energy and collaboration from all of us.
Despite our successes, challenges persist that require strategic attention. We have created a platform to professionalise and commercialise the game and club football needs more revenue to sustain itself and compete internationally.
With improved infrastructure, now is the right time to drive change and generate more resources.
Over the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself to football, sacrificing my private and professional life. I am proud of my contribution and have an even greater desire to continue working with your support to generate more resources for the game.
It is my singular honour to ask all the voting and non-voting stakeholders of the game to support my candidature and my administration, if voted, for the mandate of FUFA President 2025-2029.
My vision for FUFA’s future is built on five key pillars;
Sport – Implement the FUFA Technical Master Plan and competitions reforms.
Business – Prioritise revenue generation, ensure fair compensation and enhance our brand.
CHAN and AFCON 2027-hosting big tournaments will be a game changer for Ugandan football
Stakeholder engagement – for support of our programmes and initiatives.
Consolidation of achievements as we have made significant progress.
We will also address addressing challenges like inadequate resources, mindset and vices threatening the game’s integrity which obstacles we must overcome.
I am confident that together, we can unlock the full potential of Ugandan football and build a brighter future for our sport and nation.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will convene its 101st Ordinary General Assembly in Hoima, Kitara Region, from Friday 4th to Saturday 5th July 2025. The gathering brings together the football fraternity from across the country to evaluate FUFA’s progress, make key governance decisions and align on strategic priorities for the future of the game.
The General Assembly remains FUFA’s supreme decision-making body, composed of 88 voting delegates who represent a cross-section of football stakeholders. These include 16 delegates from 1st Division League clubs, 5 from the 2nd Division League, 2 from the National Women Football Leagues, 48 from the FUFA Regional Football Associations and 17 from FUFA Special Interest Groups. This structure guarantees inclusive representation and ensures that voices from all sectors of the game are heard.
Delegates and Executive Committee members will begin arriving in Hoima on Friday morning and check in at Hoima Resort Hotel. The opening day will involve registration, scheduled meetings and a guided tour of Hoima Stadium. The inaugural FUFA Stakeholders’ Cup will take place in the afternoon, followed by scheduled media engagements and a dinner party.
Saturday will begin with the registration of delegates at 7:00 AM, followed by breakfast, group photo sessions by regions, SIGs and clubs and the distribution of delegate packs. Delegates will also submit the required documents to FUFA Secretariat staff and take part in flash interviews coordinated by the FUFA Communications Department and FUFA Tv. Invited guests are expected to arrive at 8:45 AM, ahead of the official commencement of the General Assembly at 9:30 AM. Lunch is scheduled for 2:30 PM, with a media session involving interviews and photography set for 4:00 PM before the formal departure of delegates and guests.
The General Assembly holds significant authority within FUFA’s governance framework. Its powers include amending the statutes and associated regulations, approving the budget, financial statements and activity report, electing or dismissing members of the Executive Committee, judicial bodies, Electoral Committee and Audit and Compliance Committee, and appointing independent auditors. It also has the mandate to admit, suspend, or expel members, fix membership subscriptions, establish commercial legal entities under FUFA, and decide on honorary titles. Decisions passed by the General Assembly are only valid if a majority—more than 50%—of voting delegates are present.
In accordance with FUFA statutes, the election of the FUFA President and Executive Committee is conducted by list. The list which garners the most votes is deemed elected. However, where there is only one candidature list, the election shall be conducted by acclamation of the General Assembly. This year, with only one candidate vying for the office of FUFA President, the leadership is expected to be confirmed by acclamation.
With the inaugural FUFA Stakeholders Cup just days away, the official tournament draws have now been conducted ahead of the much-anticipated kickoff scheduled for Friday, 4th July 2025, at the Royal Park Butema.
The tournament, which was launched as a new initiative by the FUFA President and approved by the Executive Committee, seeks to foster unity and collaboration across Uganda’s football ecosystem through friendly yet competitive engagement on the pitch. The cup will be played in a 7-a-side format, with each team required to register 12 players, including at least two females. One female must be present on the field at all times during play.
Following the draw, Group A consists of Western/Kitara, Northern/West Nile, North East/Eastern, and Kampala/Buganda. Group B includes FUFA/UPL and FUFA Media Services (FMS), with two byes included to balance fixtures. The teams playing against the byes are through to the semi-finals.
The group stage matches will be played simultaneously on two pitches, Omondi and Majidu, starting at 2:30 PM. Western/Kitara will take on FUFA/UPL at Omondi, while Northern/West Nile face FUFA FMS at Majidu.
Notably, the FUFA President’s IX and Host Community Legends will play a ceremonial 11-a-side exhibition match at the close of the day’s programme.
FUFA has also allocated prize money to celebrate outstanding performance, with UGX 2,000,000 set aside for the winning team. The second and third-placed teams will take home UGX 1,000,000 and UGX 750,000 respectively. Individual awards of UGX 200,000 each will go to the tournament’s MVP, top scorer, best goalkeeper, and the team with the best fair play record.
The inaugural FUFA Stakeholders Cup is set to take place on Friday, 4th July 2025, at Royal Park Butema, with action kicking off at 2:00 PM. This brand-new initiative, approved by the FUFA Executive Committee (Excom), is a brainchild of the Federation’s President aimed at promoting unity and teamwork within Uganda’s football ecosystem.
Originally designed for six teams, the tournament will also feature two additional teams — the FUFA President’s XI and the Host Community Legends — who will not take part in the main competition but will instead play a special exhibition match. This final fixture of the day will be played on an open field in an 11-a-side format, adding a ceremonial close to the day’s activities.
The core tournament comprises six teams, including a combined Buganda & Kampala side, a combined Northern & West Nile team, a joint Western & Kitara side, a combined Eastern & North East team, and separate teams representing the FUFA Secretariat and FUFA Media.
All matches in the main competition will be played in a 7-a-side format. Each team is required to register a total of 12 players, including at least two females. During every match, one of the seven players on the field must be female. Should a team fail to meet this requirement at any point during the match, they will be required to play one player short.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rogers Mulindwa, Chairman of the Organising Committee, stated that the FUFA Stakeholders Cup is a new initiative by the FA President and was approved by the Excom. He added that he was mandated to organise the event and, being the first edition, they have so far registered huge milestones. He further noted that the tournament targets to foster unity and teamwork among the football family through competitive participation on the pitch.
To recognise and reward excellence on and off the pitch, FUFA has set aside prize money for both team and individual achievements. The winning team will receive UGX 2,000,000, the second-placed team will walk away with UGX 1,000,000, while the third-placed team will earn UGX 750,000. Additionally, there will be individual awards of UGX 200,000 each for the Fair Play award, the Most Valuable Player (MVP), the Top Scorer, and the Best Goalkeeper.

The 2024/25 FUFA Beach Soccer League is heading into its final stretch, with four teams set to battle it out in the highly anticipated championship play-offs.
The climax of this season’s campaign will take place on Sunday, 29th June 2025, at the Bamboo Gardens Beach Soccer Arena in Kasanje – Wakiso, with the action kicking off at 12:00 PM.
MUBS BSC will face Mutoola BSC, while Kampala City BSC will take on St. Lawrence University BSC in the semi-final stage. The winners of these matches will proceed to the final later that day, while the losing sides will contest the third place play-off.
Following the successful conclusion of the regular season, Kampala City, MUBS, St. Lawrence University, and Mutoola BSC finished in the top four spots to secure their play-off berths.
Kampala City and MUBS both tallied 44 points after 18 matches, but Kampala City edged top position thanks to a superior goal difference of +46, just five ahead of MUBS. Mutoola followed in third with 40 points, while St. Lawrence University sealed the last play-off slot with 34 points, having won their final two matches of the campaign.
The championship play-offs will determine who lifts the title this season. The format is simple: first place takes on fourth, while second faces third in the semi-finals. The winners meet in the final, while the other two play for third place.
There’s plenty at stake, especially for the defending champions St. Lawrence University, who are chasing a seventh league title. MUBS, two-time winners themselves, return to the play-offs for the first time in three years. Kampala City, last season’s runners-up, are aiming to go one better, while Mutoola are determined to spoil the party and claim their first crown.
Past champions include: 2009–2010 – Club Tinka 2010–2011 – Braza Braza 2011–2012 – Kabalagala Rangers 2012–2013 – MUBS 2013–2014 – St. Lawrence University 2014–2015 – Kira Young 2015–2016 – Nkumba Select 2016–2017 – MUBS 2017–2018 – Isabeti 2018–2019 – St. Lawrence University 2019–2020 – Cancelled due to COVID-19 2020–2021 – St. Lawrence University 2021–2022 – St. Lawrence University 2022–2023 – St. Lawrence University 2023–2024 – St. Lawrence University
Amus College WFC etched their name in Ugandan women’s football history by clinching their first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup title, edging Kawempe Muslim LFC 1-0 in a tightly contested final on Saturday at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
The sixth edition of the tournament concluded in dramatic fashion, with the decisive moment coming just two minutes from full time when Kawempe’s Samali Nakacwa inadvertently turned the ball into her own net under pressure from Amus forward Opisa Shalyne.
It was a deserved moment of celebration for the Bukedea-based side, who capped off a remarkable tournament run with a resolute and disciplined display in front of a decent crowd that responded to FUFA’s call for support with free stadium access.
The match itself was a cagey affair, with chances few and far between. Both sides cancelled each other out for large portions of the game, and Kawempe’s attempts to inject attacking energy with second-half substitutions—introducing Claire Kebirungi and later Adong Mebel—failed to break through a solid Amus backline.
Amus came closest to scoring in open play when Tamis Shafiga’s 67th-minute header sailed just over the bar. Seven minutes later, Kawempe’s Agnes Nabukenya played Nakagolo through on goal, but Amus goalkeeper Ritah Namukisa produced a brilliant save to keep the scores level.
As the match edged towards penalties, a late surge from Amus proved decisive. Shalyne Opisa’s relentless pressure in the Kawempe box forced an own goal from Nakacwa, sparking wild celebrations from the Amus bench and fans.
Adding a symbolic touch to the occasion, last year’s winning captain Aminah Nakato of She Corporate FC carried the trophy onto the pitch before at halftime and after fulltime passing the torch to a new champion and reinforcing the tradition of honour within the women’s game.
This final guaranteed a new winner, and Amus College WFC have now joined an exclusive list of FUFA Women’s Cup champions:
2017 – Olila High School WFC 2018 – UCU Lady Cardinals 2019 – Makerere University WFC 2023 – Uganda Martyrs Lubaga 2024 – She Corporate FC 2025 – Amus College WFC
Road to Glory – Amus College WFC
Their journey was anything but easy. A 2-1 away win over Isra Soccer Academy in the Round of 32 set the tone. They benefited from a walkover against Asubo Ladies, then edged Wakiso Hill WFC 3-2 in a thrilling quarterfinal. Their biggest statement came in the semifinals, where they stunned 2023 champions Uganda Martyrs Lubaga with a 4-2 aggregate win, spearheaded by standout performer Opisa Shalyne.
The four-time league champions looked destined for glory after dispatching Royal Dreamers, Makerere University, and defending champions She Corporate before overcoming St Noa Girls SS in the semifinals. But the elusive FUFA Women’s Cup title remains just out of reach.

Fair play Award- Uganda Martyrs, Lubaga

The 2025 FUFA Women’s Cup will conclude in spectacular fashion tomorrow, Saturday, 28th June, as Amus College WFC and Kawempe Muslim LFC battle for supremacy in the tournament’s sixth edition.
The showdown is set for the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, with kick-off at 3:00 PM. In a continued effort to promote the women’s game, FUFA has granted free entrance for all fans.
This year’s final promises more than just silverware as it offers a shot at history. Both Amus College and Kawempe Muslim are chasing their first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup title, adding extra intensity and emotional weight to the occasion.
A new Winner awaits
Since the cup’s inception in 2017, five different champions have been crowned. With neither Amus nor Kawempe previously lifting the trophy, Saturday’s final will introduce a new name to the roll of honour, continuing the competition’s tradition of unpredictability and emergence of new powerhouses.
Road to the Final
Amus College WFC – The Surprise Package The Bukedea-based side has stunned many with their remarkable journey to the final. They kicked off their campaign with a gritty 2-1 away win over Isra Soccer Academy in the Round of 32. A walkover against Asubo Ladies in the next round handed them safe passage to the quarters, where they edged Wakiso Hill WFC 3-2 in a gripping contest.
In the semifinals, Amus defied odds once again, dispatching 2023 champions Uganda Martyrs Lubaga with an impressive 4-2 aggregate victory. Promising talent Opisa Shalyne stood out with a commanding performance, helping secure their maiden appearance in the final.
Kawempe Muslim LFC
A juggernaut in Ugandan women’s league football, Kawempe Muslim has finally broken through to their first FUFA Women’s Cup final. Their campaign began with a routine 2-0 win over Royal Dreamers WFC, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory over 2019 winners Makerere University in the Round of 16.
They showcased their championship grit in the quarterfinals, edging out defending champions She Corporate FC 2-1 after extra time. The semifinal clash against St Noa Girls SS ended 3-1 on aggregate, with forward Agnes Nabukenya sealing their spot in the final with a spectacular goal in the second leg.

The Uganda Cranes have officially kicked off their preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with non-residential training that started on Monday morning at the Prisons Grounds in Luzira.
This marks the first step in Uganda’s journey toward the highly anticipated CHAN tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from August 2 to 30, 2025.
Under the stewardship of coaches Morley Byekwaso and Fred Muhumuza, the Cranes commenced training at 9:00 am, focusing on building early momentum and assessing players’ fitness levels ahead of the residential camp.
Ahead of this phase, the provisional 41-man squad saw its first change. Experienced midfielder Paul Mucureezi has been drafted in to replace James Bogere, who requested to withdraw from the team. FUFA confirmed Bogere’s decision was accepted, opening the door for Mucureezi’s return to national team duty.
CHAN is exclusively reserved for players plying their trade in their domestic leagues, making it a key opportunity for Uganda to showcase its home-based talent. Despite six previous appearances, Uganda has never progressed past the group stage an obstacle they will be determined to overcome this time.
Uganda has been drawn in Group C alongside Guinea, South Africa, Algeria, and Niger. All matches in this group will be played at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, which will also host the third-place playoff.
The tournament opener is scheduled for August 2 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, third place play off in Uganda while the final will take place on August 30 in Nairobi, Kenya, marking a milestone moment in East African football collaboration.
Jordan Obita, a seasoned professional with over 400 appearances across English and Scottish football, recently marked a significant new chapter in his career, his debut for the Uganda Cranes.
The 31-year-old left-footed utility player featured for the full 90 minutes in Uganda’s 3-0 loss to Cameroon during a friendly match in Morocco and went on to feature again against Gambia.
Despite the scoreline vs Cameroon, Obita’s inclusion was a momentous step, both personally and for the Cranes’ technical setup.
Speaking exclusively with FUFA Communications from the national team camp, Obita shared his journey to joining the Uganda Cranes, his early impressions, and what he hopes to accomplish in national colours.
FUFA Communications: Jordan, welcome to the Uganda Cranes. What’s your first impression of the camp and your teammates?
Jordan Obita: Thank you. The squad is very good. A lot of the boys already know each other since many play locally, but they’ve welcomed me very well. I’ve really been enjoying the experience so far.
FUFA Communications: Did you already know any of the players before joining the team?
Jordan Obita: Yeah, I had played against Toby Sibbick. Bevis Mugabi isn’t in camp right now, but we’ve been talking on Instagram. I also played against Elvis Bwomono several times. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Cranes for some time, so I was familiar with a few names.
FUFA Communications: How did the opportunity to represent Uganda come about?
Jordan Obita: The coach got in touch with my football agent and asked whether I’d be interested. I said, “Of course!” It’s a big honor to represent my dad’s country. My family was over the moon when they found out.
FUFA Communications: Have you been following the Uganda Cranes prior to this?
Jordan Obita: Yes, I’ve been following for a while. I remember watching some of the qualifiers—we were close to qualifying last year. I was waiting for my chance, and I’m glad it finally came.
FUFA Communications: Now that you’re part of the setup, what are your ambitions with the Cranes?
Jordan Obita: I want to help make history. We want to do well in AFCON and most importantly, qualify for the World Cup in America next year. That would be historic for Uganda. I want to be part of a team that is remembered.
FUFA Communications: How did your family and football friends react to your call-up?
Jordan Obita: They were thrilled. I called my dad as soon as I saw my name on the list—he was incredibly proud. He told the rest of the family. It’s special because I’m the first in our family to play for Uganda.
FUFA Communications: For fans still getting to know you, how would you describe your style of play?
Jordan Obita: I like to keep the ball, play possession football, and deliver crosses. I try to get the ball into the box quickly—yesterday I probably whipped in four or five crosses. It’s about building chemistry with my teammates now so they know what to expect when I’m on the ball.
FUFA Communications: Your debut is in the books. Walk us through the experience, especially playing against a powerhouse like Cameroon.
Jordan Obita: It was a great experience. My first time playing in Africa and against such a strong opponent. The climate was a bit of a shock, I won’t lie (laughs), but the evening kickoff helped. Despite the loss, we created some good chances and showed fight. There’s a lot to build on as we prepare for upcoming matches.
FUFA Communications: Lastly, what message would you like to send to your family, the fans, and Ugandans?
Jordan Obita: I hope I can make everyone proud. I’m here to help push Uganda to the next level and make history with the national team. The fans have been welcoming, and I can’t wait to repay that support with strong performances.
Jordan Obita’s arrival symbolizes a blend of experience and fresh ambition for the Uganda Cranes. As the team prepares for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco and a historic World Cup berth, his leadership and European pedigree could play a vital role.
The second round of the FUFA Juniors League 2025 Match Day 13 delivered drama, goals, and upsets as teams battled to strengthen their positions in the title race and player development pathways.
On Saturday, 21 June 2025, NEC FC JT stunned Lugazi FC JT with a dominant 3-1 away victory. Lugazi’s Jovan Mark Waguti gave the hosts some hope, but NEC responded ruthlessly through goals from Malinga Derrick, Omara Oboi, and Oula Emmanuel.
In a closely contested fixture, Maroons FC JT and KCCA FC SA played out a goalless stalemate, showcasing defensive discipline and limited goalmouth action.
One of the day’s biggest shocks came from BUL FC JT, who fell 2-1 at home to Mbale Heroes FC JT. Despite an early strike by Ivan Maturu for the Eastern Giants, the visitors turned the game on its head through goals from Muhoozi Henry and Abasi Rahman, sealing a statement win on the road.
Police FC JT also impressed as they outclassed SC Villa JT 3-1 in an away encounter. Tumukunde David scored SC Villa’s consolation, but the star of the show was Police’s Ronald Ssemwanga, who netted an incredible hat trick to power his side to all three points.
Come Sunday, 22 June 2025, URA FC JT put on a sensational attacking display to thrash UPDF FC JT 5-2 at their training grounds. The match was headlined by an astonishing four-goal performance from striker Kanyike Abdul Karim, who tormented the UPDF defense all afternoon. Mutebi Rahman added another for the Tax Collectors, while Agaba Jackson and Niso Innocent were on target for the visitors in a tough outing.
Meanwhile, the much-anticipated clash between Kitara FC JT and Wakiso Giants FC JT was scheduled but remained pending as of press time.
The round wraps up on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, when Mbarara City FC JT hosts Express FC JT at Kakyeka Stadium at 3:00 PM, with both sides looking to bounce back and finish the round strong.
As the league edges closer to its climax, teams continue to display raw talent, tactical maturity, and fierce competition, proving once again why the FUFA Juniors League remains a key pillar in Uganda’s football development.
The curtains have officially come down on a breathtaking 2024/25 FUFA Big League season, marked by promotion triumphs, relegation heartbreaks, standout individual performances and a remarkable goal-scoring finale.
Calvary FC Lifts the Title
Yumbe-based Calvary FC were officially crowned winners on Sunday, 22nd June 2025, following their narrow 1-0 victory over Paidha Black Angels in the West Nile derby the previous day. Despite rain delays at Midigo Primary School, the match was concluded, sealing Calvary’s place at the summit with 52 points.
Calvary are joined in promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League by Gaddafi FC and Buhimba United Saints, who both finished just two points behind on 50.
Gaddafi ended their campaign with a commanding 3-0 away win over Kataka in Mbale. Jonathan Mbula (Congo), captain Thomas Kakaire, and seasoned striker Frank Kalanda all found the back of the net in a game played on a waterlogged surface following a pre-match downpour.
At the Barthlem playground in Kiwenda, Buhimba United Saints secured the point they needed in a goalless draw against Kiyinda Boys to confirm their return to top-flight football.
Relegation Woes for Former UPL Clubs
On the opposite end of the table, four clubs dropped into regional league football. Booma, Arua Hill, MYDA, and Busoga United were all relegated after a tense conclusion to the season.
Despite an astonishing 10-0 away victory over Booma, Arua Hill failed to escape the drop, finishing on 32 points — the same tally as MYDA. The Tororo-based side lost 1-0 to Kigezi Home Boyz in Kabale, with Joseph Sseremba scoring the decisive goal that ensured the Gorillas’ survival by a single point.
Busoga United, another former Uganda Premier League side, bowed out after a 2-0 defeat to Blacks Power in Lira. Nigerian forward Innocent Maduka netted a brace to cap off an impressive season for the Lira-based outfit, who finished fourth with 49 points — just three shy of the league winners.
Individually, the season belonged to Ntugasaze’s Lawrence Kambugu in the goal-scoring department. The graduate of the Rays of Grace Academy struck 15 times to claim the golden boot, including a final-day hat-trick in a 6-3 thriller against Kaaro Karungi in Ntungamo.
Kambugu’s exploits were not enough to push his side higher than 9th, but his performances remained one of the season’s bright spots.
Mr. Reliable: Joseph Sseremba
Special mention must be made of Kigezi Home Boyz forward Joseph Sseremba, who stepped up when it mattered most. His match-winning goal against MYDA ensured his club’s survival, and it capped off a season in which he contributed eight goals and six assists. Off the pitch, his leadership has also been widely praised.
The Uganda Women’s National Team (Crested Cranes) have secured a bronze medal at the just-concluded 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in Tanzania, after Burundi lost 3–1 to South Sudan this afternoon.
The Crested Cranes were the first team to complete their matches in the tournament and could only hope for a Burundi defeat, with both teams level on three points. Uganda had a goal difference of -2, while Burundi entered the final game with a goal difference of -8.
The team is scheduled to depart from Tanzania tomorrow at 10 p.m.
