    The final Uganda Cranes team traveling to Ethiopia for the international friendly match this Saturday was released on Wednesday night.

    The team was named after the closed door test match with KCCA on Wednesday evening at Namboole.

    The contingent will depart on Thursday for Addis Ababa.

    Test Match: Uganda Cranes 1-0 KCCA

    The Uganda Cranes had a trial match against Kampala Capital City Authority on Wednesday afternoon at Mandela National Stadium outside play ground.

    Belgium based forward Faruku Miya converted from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute of the game which kept the Cranes on top till the final whistle.

    After the game, the national team coach Sredejovic ‘Micho’ Milutin addressed the KCCA FC players and wished them fruitful deliberations ahead of the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup encounter on Saturday against Rivers United of

    Defending champions of the FUFA Women Elite League, Kawempe Muslim Women Football club will face UCU Lady Cardinals in the finals of the 2016/17 edition.

    This was after the first set of the play-offs held on Wednesday at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

    UCU Lady Cardinals defeated Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 2-1 in the first game of the day.

    Moureen Kinavudori and Millicent Mwanzi scored the goals for UCU in the 21st and 25th minutes respectively.

    Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga got their consolation through Resty Nanziri in the 53rd minute.

    During the second game,  defending champions Kawempe Muslim progressed to the final for the third successive year after Hasifa Nassuna scored a double past Olila.

    Uganda Martyr’s Lubaga will host UCU Lady Cardinals in the early game at 1:30 p.m  before the defending champions Kawempe Muslim enter the frey against Olila at 4 p.m.

    The two finalists and losers will be engaged in the final and third place match respectively on Sunday, 4th June 2017.

    Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club has progressed to play in the final of this year’s FUFA Uganda Cup after a goal-less draw with Express at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium on Tuesday.

    KCCA thus advanced with a 3-2 aggregate score line.

    The game on Tuesday was well balanced with either sides getting closer.

    KCCA will now play Paidha Black Angels who eliminated Sadolin Paints 3-2 on aggregate.

    This year’s final will be played at the Betway Green Light stadium in Arua, the home of Onduparaka Football club as hosted by West Nile region.

    The Uganda Cranes have started training ahead of the tight schedule involving international trial games and AFCON 2019 qualifier encounter against Cape Verde.

    Twenty four players including Seven foreign based have attended the first training session held at Kabira Country club on Tuesday morning with the watchful eye of team coach Sredejovic ‘Micho’ Milutin assisted by Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba the goalkeeping coach.

    Team coach was excited with the attendance of the the players save for Denis Onyango and Khalid Aucho as well as KCCA players who will join the team later after their CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup engagements.

    “I’m happy that many players have reported to camp and this will help us prepare properly for our upcoming encounters ” Said Micho.

    Micho added that players have undergone a light training because they need to recover from the fatigue acquired during the Kitara Regional Tour.

    The team is residing at Sky Hotel Naalya.

    The road for Uganda Cranes to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, otherwise code named ‘Project Cameroon 2019’ continues with the residential training programme on Tuesday.

    This follows the national team successful return from Fort Portal where they played a build up in the famous ‘Uganda Cranes regional tours campaign’ against Kitara select at the Buhinga stadium before a fully packed house.

    Uganda Cranes won 3-1 with strikers Emmanuel Okwi and Nelson Senkatuka scoring the three goals in the opening 45 minutes of the game.

    The team has since returned to Kampala on Monday afternoon and will re-group on Tuesday at Sky Hotel, Naalya at 8 a.m.

    According to the head coach Milutin Sredejovic, there are players from the local based sides that made the trip to Fort Portal who will be joined by the foreign based crop as the training kicks-off at 10 a.m – Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    “The entire programme is well set and we are ready to implement it to perfection so that we achieve our set and desired goals” Micho disclosed to www.fufa.co.ug.

    The Wednesday session will be double – morning and afternoon before the team flies out Thursday for the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

    In Ethiopia, the team will play an international build up against the Walia Stars on Saturday, 3rd June 2017 at the Hawassa International stadium in Hawassa City.

    Departure from Ethiopia to Dakar, Senegal for the second international friendly match will be on Sunday joined by the KCCA players who will fly directly from Kampala and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango.

    The international build up against Senegal shall take place on 6th June 2017 in Dakar City.

    After the build up, the team will leave for Praia, Cape Verde ready for the opening group L of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

    The Uganda Cranes has successfully concluded the Kitara Region tour with a re-sounding performance and 3-1 victory at a fully packed Buhinga stadium in Fort Portal on Sunday.

    Emmanuel Okwi scored a brace in the game with the other strike coming from Nelson Senkatuka.

    The national team led 3-0 by the half time mark with Okwi scoring the first in the 24th minute.

    Senkatuka powerfully nodded home the second off Shafiq Kagimu’s cross and Okwi popped home the third in the first added minute of the first half when he followed up a Hassan Wasswa Mawanda dipping header that had already beaten goalkeeper Isaac Kwizera and looked destined to cross the goal-line.

    Second half substitute Beckam Musoki pulled one for the home team after he connected a re-bound when his first attempt from a penalty kick had kissed the cross bar.

    Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic fielded two different teams for the game with defender Halid Lwaliwa replaced early in the first half after a leg injury.

    His place was taken by Savio Kabugo in the 17th minute.

    Micho appreciated the players’ effort, the opponents, fans and the sponsors for making the match a reality.

    The game was attended by a capacity crowd that cheered every move of the game. The FUFA President, Eng Moses Magogo was accompanied by the 2nd VP Darius Mugoye, delegates and other FUFA officials.

    Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredejovic has named two teams that will play in either halves against the Select side from Kitara region at the Buhinga stadium in Fort Portal during the regional tour match on Sunday.

    The first team shall be captained by  Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and the second side by Savio Kabugo.

    In the same vein, the Kitara region starting team is out with experienced players as Kasese based Sun City’s Patrick Kusemerererwa.

    The previous tour in the same region had been at the Boma Stadium in Masindi two years ago, with the national team winning 5-0 on the day.

    Hundreds of passionate football fans graced the Uganda Cranes last training session ahead of the much anticipated match against a select team from the Kitara region on Sunday afternoon.

    After arriving in Fort Portal on Saturday afternoon, the team was warmly welcomed as they were ushered in at Kalya Courts hotel.

    The players and accompanying officials checked in at hotel, had lunch and rested for some hours before they headed to the training session that lasted for close to one and a half hours.

    At the Buhinga stadium (the same facility that will host the match), the team was treated to thunderous welcome by the enthusiastic supporters who were excited to see some of the players and officials they normally see and read about in the media.

    “This is my chance of a life time to see the Uganda Crane live in Buhinga, Fort Portal. It had always been my dream to see Hassan Wasswa, Emma Okwi and Coach Micho with the other players also. This is really good. I thank FUFA and the sponsors for making this a reality? Is Onyango also coming?” Esther Rwabogo, said with an ear to ear smile.

    Coach Micho with the assistants Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba (Goalkeeping coach) took the players through the paces with ball work sessions meant to acclimatize them to the green though bumpy surface.

    All the players responded well in the session and are fit for the big match day on Sunday evening.

    The Uganda Cranes team will face a select side of the Kitara region at the Buhinga stadium.

    The previous tour in the same region had been at the Boma Stadium in Masindi two years ago, with the national team winning 5-0 on the day.

    The tours are meant to take the national team brand closer to the people in their respective localities other than at the home of the Uganda Cranes – Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    FUFA Uganda Cup 2016/17:

    West Nile based football club, Paidha Black Angels has progressed to the finals of the 2016/17 Uganda Cup after eliminating Sadolin Paints 3-2 on aggregate.

    This followed a 2-1 victory for Sadolin Paints during the return leg played at the Mandela National stadium on Saturday.

    Karim Ndugwa scored a brace for the Painters inside the opening 20 minutes of the game.

    Fred Amaku had the consolation for the visitors in the 60th minute.

    Paidha Black Angels who had won the opening leg 2-0 in Zombo thus become the second FUFA Big league club to play the final in two successive seasons following Onduparaka’s heroics last year.

    The return leg of the second semi-final between KCCA and Express shall be played on Tuesday at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium.

    KCCA has a slim advantage having won the first leg 3-2 at their Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

    This year’s final shall be held at the Bet way Green Light stadium in Arua, hosted by West Nile Region.

    Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club carries a 3-2 lead over Express heading to the second leg of the semi-finals for the FUFA Uganda Cup.

    Geofrey Sserunkuma scored a brace in the game with Tom Masiko the other scorer for KCCA FC at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo during the first leg semifinal played on Friday afternoon.

    Express’ goals were scored by Simon Sserunkuma and Allan Kyambadde.

    The return leg will be played on Tuesday, 30th May 2017 at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

    Express FC that started against KCCA FC. The red eagles were beaten 3-2 at Lugogo.

    Meanwhile, the second leg of the other semi-final between Sadolin Paints and Paidha Black Angels shall be played at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    Paidha Black Angels have a 2-0 advantage following the first leg win at Bar Okoro Zombo stadium.

    The final shall be played on 10th June 2017 at the Betway Green Light Stadium in Arua.

    Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic has named the final team set to travel for the Kitara regional tour this weekend at the Buhinga play ground in Fort Portal.

    This was after the Friday session which followed three days of non residential training at the Mandela National stadium, Namboole. Micho has named a very strong squad for the job.

    Micho lauded the efforts of the players who turned up for the training in the earlier days as the team heads to Fort Portal.

    ‘This has been amazing work during the training sessions. This is the start for the preparations of AFCON 2019 qualifiers and the CHAN team. I am impressed by the endurance and overall performance of the players’ Micho told www.fufa.co.ug.

    The regional tours are jointly fueled by Uganda Cranes main sponsors Airtel Uganda Limited and partners Nile Breweries Limited.

    The main objective of the tours among others is to take the national team brand closer to the populous.

    The team departs for Fort Portal on Saturday morning.

    On Thursday, the Uganda Cranes conducted day two of non residential training ahead of the upcoming regional tour to Kitara Region in Fort Portal  slated for this coming Sunday.

    Thirty one players reported for the Thursday morning training session at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    After the training, defender Savio Kabugo told www.fufa.co.ug that he is thrilled for the regional tour arrangement because it opens up for the young players and those rejuvenating an opportunity to the National Team .

    “I am happy for the regional tour arrangement because its where I’ve been granted an opportunity to resurface at the National Team. So I have to use this opportunity to impress the coach that he reconsiders me for the senior side as I as a key player before the deadly injury” Said the excited Kabugo

    He added that after returning from injury he had to work hard that he regains his form and it can be realized from his team Proline which he saved from relegation.

    The gigantic defender featured for the Cranes at CHAN 2014 and he is remembered for that building header at Namboole against Ghana during the AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

    The team resumes training on Friday 26th May 2017 at Mandela National Stadium 9 am where the coach will read his final 22 players who will travel to Kitara region to face the regional select on Sunday.

    The dates and venue for the 2016/17 FUFA Women Elite League playoffs have been confirmed by the FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe.

    The Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo in Kampala will host the final four games of the league.

    The two semi-final play offs will take place on Wednesday, 31st May 2017.

    Uganda Martyr’s Lubaga will host UCU Lady Cardinals in the early game at 1:30 p.m  before the defending champions Kawempe Muslim enter the frey against Olila at 4 p.m.

    Meanwhile, regular season action in the Women Elite League continues on Saturday with three games. Hadijah ‘Lady Mouriho’ Namuyanja’s She Mak hosts Uganda Martyrs Lubaga at Makerere, London Stallions plays the reverse fixture against Western United at Kyambogo and Olila Women take on Eastern Heroes.

    Sunday will see the reigning champions Kawempe Muslim play Western United at their Kawempe fortress. KAwempe has not lost a league match at their home since inception of the FFA Women Elite League for the third seaosn running.

    Sharp FC from Kabale district, has qualified to represent Western Region in next season’s FUFA Big League-the 2nd tier League from which teams storm the top flight-Azam Uganda Premier League.

    The youthful side from South Western Uganda district registered a 2-1 win over regional league debutants Rushere FC from Kiruhura district in a tense final played on Wednesday at Kyamate grounds in Ntungamo Municipality.

    A 47th minute strike by Cleophus Fiat put Sharp ahead before Ismail Luyombya leveled the scores on 67 minutes from a penalty.

    However, Jonhson Tumuramye restored Sharp’s lead six minutes from time, after heading home from a corner kick.

    Wild cerebrations were all-over the travelling Kabale supporters end as their Kiruhura counterparts remained wondering what had happened at the final whistle.

    Rushere coach Noah Mugerwa, who had to take some minutes consoling his crestfallen players, said they had realized the mistakes at the end of the game that they will have to come back strongly next season.

    Rushere FC which was playing in their maiden Regional league after gaining promotion from the Division I last year had established themselves as favourites to gain promotion, especially when they played and finished top of the Ankole group.

    They went up against Rukungiri United in the semifinal playoffs whom they defeated 3-1 before facing Sharp FC, who had eliminated fancied Mbarara FC 1-0 in the other semifinal.

    Sharp FC will be the second side from Kabale to play at the second most prestigious local league tier, after Creamland that qualified in the 2012/2013 season but never completed. .

    Ntungamo Municipality Mayor Jacob Kafureka, who presided over the final, cautioned the players against love for money that will make them forget about their talents.

    Western United and London Stallions faced off on Wednesday afternoon at Rugando stadium, Western Uganda in a bottom of the table clash. The stakes were high as prior to this match both teams had not tasted victory this season in the league. However Western United collected the points in style winning 5-2 against London Stallions.

    With 19 matches between them, only two goals had been scored between the two sides. However with the relegation monster on their necks, Western United devised their tactical strategy as they managed to score 5 times against London Stallions who netted twice in the Elizabeth Group headed by defending champions Kawempe Muslim yet to drop a point this season in 11 outings.

    Western’s goals were scored by Lukia Aringo who got a hat trick, Monic Asimire and Doreen Namugerwa had a goal each while Agnes Atuyambe and Stellah Nalwanga were on taragte for the visitors.

    The Uganda Cranes Regional Tours: Micho impressed by players’ attitude ahead of trip to Fort Portal

    Uganda Cranes kicked off preparations on Wedensday morning at Mandela National stadium, Namboole for their upcoming tight schedules at both local and international level.
    Head coach Milutin Sredejovic and his technical team of assistant Moses Basena and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba took players through the drills at the National stadium.
    The team coach expressed his delight about the players response ahead  of the Uganda Cranes Regional tour of Kitara on Sunday in Fort Portal.
    ‘I’m excited about the players response but unfortunately I cant consider them all for the match. On Friday I will name the final 22 players for the match’ said Micho.


    After the training the coach named 12 players on the standby list in case of any eventualities but will be reconsidered for training when preparations for the 2018 CHAN qualifiers resume.

    The 12 players are; Ibrahim Kibumba, Ssenfuka Rahmat, Oromchan Villa, Banga Fraouk, Mubitu Yisa, Kapampa Eddy, Kagwa Pius, Wafula
