    Kenya based International Godfrey Walusimbi joined the rest of players for training at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    He promised to give the best display for upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.

    “We were motivated by qualifying for AFCON 2017 and a draw against Ghana in our first World Cup qualifier game was such a driving factor” said Walusimbi.

    Twenty seven players were part of the Sunday evening training which lasted for two hours with the coach emphasizing on ball possession and shooting from various angles.

    More foreign based players including Team Captain Geoffrey Massa, Khalid Aucho (Baroka FC, South Africa),Isaac Isinde, Robert Odongkara ,Yassar Mugerwa (St George,Ethiopia), William Kizto Luwagga (Rio Ave,Portugal) and Murshid Juuko (Simba ,Tanzania) are expected to join and train with the team on Monday .

    Training resumes on Monday at 5pm in Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    The long awaited FUFA Women Elite league for the 2016/17 season started on Friday.

    The new season started on Friday with Ajax Queens’ 1-0 win against Eastern Heroes courtesy of Maureen Afoyo’s lone strike on the day.

    Ajax Queens won their second game 24 hours later, triumphing 3-1 against Olila Ladies.

    Still on Saturday, the defending champions, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School women football club started the season on a bright note winning 7-0 against London Stallions in Kawempe.

    Hasifah Nassuna, Juliet Nalukenge and Favour Nambatya each scored a brace apiece for the game.

    Viola Namuddu netted the other goal on the day.

    Gafford Ladies and Wakiso Hills played to a one all draw.

    On Sunday, Kampala Queens lost 1-2 to Mutesa Royal University.

    The Rinnes and Western United affair ended goal-less.

    This is the third season that the FUFA Women Elite League is being played with a total of 16 clubs taking part.

    Uganda Cranes resume training ahead of Zambia, Congo Brazzaville encounters

    Following their 6-1 victory against Kampala region select team in the national regional tour match, the Uganda Cranes will resume training on Sunday evening at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    All the players who featured in the match against Kampala region will continue to train with the addition of those who were rested (goalie Salim Jamal, Moses Oloya and Yunus Sentamu).

    Meanwhile, the professionals are expected on Sunday night and Monday ahead of the Zambia international build up on Tuesday.

    Ronald Mukiibi, Dennis Iguma, Godfrey Walusimbi, Isaac Isinde, Robert Odongkara, Yassar Mugerwa, William Luwagga Kizito, Farouk Miya, Geofrey Massa, Dennis Onyango, Khalid Aucho, Shafiq Batambuze and team captain Geofrey Massa are all expected by Monday.

    Mike Azira will be in the country by Tuesday morning.

    Zambia is already in the country having arrived on Sunday afternoon. They are accommodated at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

    Kampala Regional Select 1-6 Uganda Cranes

    Uganda Cranes whipped Kampala region select team 6-1 during a national regional tour match played at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.

    Saddam Ibrahim Juma, Muhammed Shaban and Joseph Ochaya scored the first three goals in the opening 45 minutes of the game watched by a relatively big crowd that included FUFA top brass officials among others.

    In the second half, the Uganda Cranes side continued with the dominance with three more goals coming from Derrick Nsibambi, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Tonny Mawejje.

    The 2016/17 FUFA Women Elite League has followed kicked off on Friday with one fixture played at Bulenga.

    Ajax Queens defeated Eastern Heroes 1-0 with the goal coming from Maureen Afoyo.

    The other game that had been scheduled to take place on the day (She Makerere and Olila) was postponed due to the closure of the University.

    This particular game will be re-scheduled and communicated in the due course.

    Nabweteme dedicates her 2 awards won in the U.S to FUFA President

    Two time FUFA Women Elite League top scorer Sandra Nabweteme continued with her rich goal scoring form, guiding her South Western Oklahoma State University to US Conference 2016 Championship.

    The Uganda Crested Cranes sharp shooter was rewarded with two awards -Freshman player of the year and First Team All Conference forward at the Great American Conference Awards in USA. She was also second best top scorer (19 goals, 8 assists) in the Great American Conference League.

    She dedicated the two awards to the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, her mother Nabukera, coaches, media houses and Ahmed Marsha the FUFA Head of Communications, among others.

    I am grateful of my football journey in the U.S.A. Life is good but i can not forget all who have encouraged me like the FUFA President, my mother, FUFA Communications Manager, people in the media and my fans across the world.

    Nabweteme won the car at the 2015 FUFA Awards after guiding Kawempe Muslim SS Women FC to two consecutive championships in 2015 and 2016.

    FUFA suspends referee Balikoowa

    FUFA Referees standing Committee (FRSC) has suspended one of the assistant referees Ngobi Balikoowa Musa who handled the Azam Uganda Premier League match no.86 between SC Villa Jogoo Vs Express FC on 29th October 2016 at Mandela National Stadium – Namboole

    The suspension takes immediate effect and for the rest of the 2016/17 season.

    On 31st October, 2016 the FRSC met and took a decision to suspend Balikoowa who officiated the above mentioned match.

    The other officials of the mentioned match will not be affected by this decision.

    The decision was taken after reviewing the  Referees Assessors report
 and the video clip indicating that the decision taken by the second 
assistant referee Balikoowa  in the 84th minute led to
 disallowing a would have been a valid third goal to visiting team (Express FC).

    FUFA through the FRSC will continue assessing matches at all competitions levels with a focused intention of developing and monitoring performance of match officials.

    AUPL: BUL FC takes top honours in the Jinja derby played at Kakindu stadium

    The tensions were high as both teams headed into the Jinja derby between BUL FC and JMC Hippos at Kakindu stadium. Both teams share the same stadium and their results have not been convincing so far to their fans.

    When the ball got rolling, both sets of players had one target, to hit the back of the net. BUL had to thank Shaka Sozi, Sibira Yunus and Nkolo Braise for the goals as they got their names on the score sheet while Abdul Rajab netted the consolation for JMC Hippos who remain bottom of the table and are yet to win a game this season.

  • FUFA sad to lose Ex-Cranes star player Bukenya

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has received sad news following the death of former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper George Bukenya.

    Bukenya  who played for Uganda Cranes in the 60s, 70s died on Wednesday at Nsambya Hospital due to lung failure.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo was left sad by the news;

    We have received news of the untimely death of George Bukenya. We are saddened by this sad news losing an Ex-International player.

    Bukenya was a great player at Coffee FC and with Uganda Cranes. The football family will miss him.

    Burial arrangements will be communicated later by the family.

    The Uganda National team coach Sredejovic ‘Micho’ Milutin has named the squad to face Zambia in a friendly on 8th November and for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on 12th November 2016 at Mandela Nationa Stadium, Namboole.

    Nineteen foreign based players who will later be joined by eleven local based players (From the regional tour squad) to make a total of a 30 man squad to prepare for the two encounters.

    While speaking at the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo, Micho said that the eleven local based players will be selected from the t22 who will feature for the Uganda Cranes in the Kampala region tour on Saturday 5th November at the Mutesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku.

    We have summoned 19 professionals and 22 locally based players all of whom have equal chances to fight for the places on the final team against Congo Brazzaville.

    First we have a match against the Kampala regional team at Wankulukuku on Saturday, then the Zambian friendly match.

    Those who prove themselves will be selected for the Congo Brazzaville match on 12th November 2016 at Namboole

    Meanwhile, the team starts immediate training on Wednesday with a test match.

    Reigning Champions and table leaders KCCA FC defeated rivals Sc Villa Jogoo 3-1 in the Azam Uganda Premier League match on Tuesday evening at the Philip Omondi stadium.

    Paul Mucureezi got the goal scoring action under way in the first half as both team fought for possession in the midfield. Sc Villa finished the first half on a high having created some chances but failing to convert the, However KCCA FC could have finished off the game in the first half had they also made use of their clear cut chances.

    Second half started on a high tempo and Villa were rewarded with a penalty which was converted by Tabu Abdul Malik. KCCA FC who are yet to lose at home this season, netted two more goals from Derrick Nsibambi and Uganda Cranes star player also reigning Azam Uganda premier League player of the year Joseph Ochaya.

    KCCA FC are now on 28 points from 12 matches while Sc Villa on 21 points.
