    Azam Uganda Premier League: Police, Express share spoils in six goal thriller at Kavumba

    Azam Uganda Premier League (Match Day 9):

    Friday result – Police 3-3 Express

    Police scored a late goal inside the first minute of the four added minutes to earn a point in the 3 all draw against a ten man Express side in the Azam Uganda Premier league match played at the Kavumba Recreational Stadium on Friday.

    In the only game of the day that was televised live on Azam T.V, Express took an early lead through Allan Kyambadde in the 5th minute.

    Police Football club found the equalizer through Osman Mutumba almost 35 minutes later as the two sides returned to the locker-rooms even at one goal apiece.

    Upon re-start, the home side took the lead through Rahmat Senfuka following a rocket shot off the left foot that found the back of the net.

    The joy was however short-lived when Simon Sserunkuma finished from an acute angle after clumsy defending from the Police back-line.

    Police technical bench called for substitution of their goalkeeper Davis Mutebi for Samuel Kivumbi after they had conceded the second goal.

    Kivumbi was treated to a baptism of fire when he was beaten by a flying header from Kyambadde off Sserunkuma’s telling assist from the left.

    Police gained numerical advantage when Express’ Musa Mukasa was red carded for elbowing striker Anthony Bongole.

    Bongole had moments earlier come on for towering striker Peter ‘Crouch’ Ssenyonjo.

    The galore of goals continued when Police grabbed their third of the day after Hood Kawesa’s low drive beat Mutumba  between the Red Eagles’ goal posts.

    Other match day 9 fixtures:

    Match day nine continues on Saturday with three matches.

    The seeds of women football sown over the years have indeed cast women football in Uganda into the limelight.

    As attested by the Chairperson of the Uganda Women Football Associations (UWFA) Efrance Nanjego, she is glad with the trend of women football in the country;

    First of all, I want to thank FUFA majorly for their unconditional support towards women football in Uganda and without FUFA I know we would be not having such activities like this in the country.

    Also, let me thank those teams which came from far as Kampala to participate in this years edition.

    Nanjengo’s voice was equally well re-echoed by Haruna Wanume the chairman L.C III of Namalemba Sub County.

    Wanume graced the tournament as the chief guest and he lauded FUFA for the initiative as he also appealed to the feminine gender to take upon the beautiful game;

    I thank FUFA for having chosen Namalemba to host this women tournament as I couldn’t imagine women playing football like men but am surprised.
