The local football fraternity has lost one of its most eminent figures following the death of Maroons FC Chairman Tommy Ochen.
Ochen passed away on Wednesday 25th May, 2016.

On his first outing on the greens of Namboole stadium, Melvyn Lorenzen couldn’t hide his excitement at touching the ball for the first time with Uganda Cranes players.
‘Though it was a long journey from Germany to Uganda, it seemed tough for me during the training because it was my first time on a Ugandan pitch but I have liked the training and the boys in general’ said Melvyn.
Melvyn who plays for German side Weder Bremen but with his paper work to secure a Ugandan passport in progress, he has promised to give in his best when he gets the chance to play for Cranes.
‘I want to be a role model for the whole country’
He is looking forward to his first cap against Zimbabwe on Tuesday 31st May 2016 in the international friendly to be played in Harare.

Uganda Cup final at Nakivubo on 18th June, 2016
Members of the public and football lovers have started delivering clothes and other items towards FUFA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Activity. Attached to the 2015/2016 Uganda cup as communicated at its launch last year, FUFA will be giving back to the communities through football to put smiles on their faces.
‘We have identified a charity organization called Missionaries of the Poor based in Mutundwe that will be the beneficiaries of this year’s project’ said Ahmed Hussein
On Wednesday FUFA continued to receive the items and later placed in the big container reserved for this project.
‘We shall attach a CSR activity by collecting clothes and other items that we shall give back to a selected charity organisation within the region that hosts the Uganda cup final. FUFA has also asked its 32 Members to join the cause’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein during the launch of the 2015/2016 Uganda Cup.
‘We shall also receive donations from individuals who might not be able to make it to these selected centres. FUFA has plans of picking these donations from them’ added Ahmed
The items will be handed over a week after the Cup final. A team that wins the Uganda Cup will accompany FUFA officials to deliver the items.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will host the 92nd General Assembly in Buganda Region.

This was one of the resolutions passed by the 9th FUFA Executive Committee Meeting that convened on 23rd February 2016 at FUFA House.
‘The 92nd FUFA General Assembly will be hosted by Buganda in Luwero district at Nimrod Hotel on 22nd October 2016’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein during the weekly press conference in Mengo.
All preparations are underway and will be handled with the guidance of the FUFA Statutes.

FUFA has appointed an 11 man committee to review and draw where appropriate new rules and regulations for the 2016/2017 football season.
At the end of each football season, FUFA reviews its rules in preparation for the incoming season.

The Committee to be headed by FUFA President is expected to present proposed draft regulations for consideration of the FUFA Executive Committee by 15th June, 2016.
The review will also look at the rules and regulations for transfer of players, registration of football academies, club licensing, coaching license and authorized FUFA competitions .

In a circular issued by the FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson to all stakeholders, the committee will also organize a workshop with representation of the public before making the final proposals to FUFA.
‘The entire football public is invited to submit proposals for consideration of the committee. Stakeholders affected by the specific regulations being drawn may also be invited for consultation’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein during the weekly press conference at FUFA House.
Hussein added ‘FUFA calls upon the entire public to co-operate with the committee in preparation of an exciting 2016/2017 football season’

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club is the champion of the Azam Uganda Premier League for the season 2015/16.
It is a historical title for Mike Mutebi who has won the League for the first time as head coach at KCCA FC.
The Yellow brigade ascended on the terraces of Mutessa II stadium with droves of fans who chanted from the time they entered the stadium till the final whistle.
The red eagles fans were also enjoying the moment as the same stadium has been a fortress for them with big teams finding it difficult to walk away with maximum points.
KCCA FC Head coach Mike Ray Mutebi lifted high by his players at the end of the match.
KCCA FC rallied from behind to force a one all draw with arch-rivals, Express FC on Tuesday evening.
Express FC took a first half lead through Vincent Kayizzi’s well taken penalty.
KCCA managed to press hard and found the deserved equaliser through enterprising midfielder, Muzamiru Mutyaba.
Elsewhere, Vipers SC-challengers to KCCA FC for the title-before end of business on Tuesday drew 1-1 with Uganda Revenue Authority at Buikwe stadium.
KCCA FC Chief Executitve Officer David Tamale isn’t spared as well by the players.
Robert Sentongo put the tax collectors ahead before sharp striker, Erisa Ssekisambu sumoned for National team duty leveled for the ousted champions.
The result means, KCCA FC now has 56 points, with a four point advantage over Vipers coming into the final match day on Friday.

In the Jinja derby played at Bugembe stadium, Jinja Municipal Council lost 2-1 to Sadolin Paints.

Lweza survived the blushes of relegation with a hard fought 2-1 win against SC Victoria University in a fixture played at the Luzira play grounds.
Simba, Maroons and SCVU have now been relegated to the FUFA Big League.
Werder Bremen forward, Melvyn Lorenzen arrived in the country on Tuesday afternoon to join fellow Uganda Cranes players who officially kicked off preparations for two important matches coming up against Zimbabwe and Botswana.
However he will be required to go through the necessary processes to get the go ahead on the acquisition of the Uganda passport as per the Uganda laws.
FUFA, the player’s relatives and Immigration officials are handling the process well so far in a bid to secure passport for Lorenzen.
Lorenzen arrived aboard Emirates Airlines. His family members-Uncle Alex Musiime and Grandfather Joseph Musaalo were also at the airport to receive him.
Five players who were being monitored by coaches Milutin Sredojevic, Fred Kajoba (goalkeeping coach), team doctor Ronald Kisolo and team manager, Crispus Muyinda, trained for 45 minutes in the City Paradise gym at Acacia Mall and later another 45 minutes at the Philip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
The training started with gym drills where the players underway several aerobics and body conditioning.
Five players only attended the team training and these were; Dennis Iguma (Al Ahed, Lebanon), Faruku Miya (Standard Liege, Belgium), Murushid Jjuuko (Simba, Tanzania), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (Al Shorta F.C, Iraq) and goalkeeper Salim Jamal (El Merriekh, Sudan).

Uganda Cup final at Nakivubo on 18th June, 2016
Details of the FUFA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity attached to the 2015/2016 Uganda cup have been released.
With the second most prestigious competition in Ugandan football played on a knockout basis getting to the latter stages, the CSR activity is also taking strong footing.
The semifinals are set for 8th and 12th May, 2016 and will be played over two legs.
The final is slated for 18th June, 2016 at Nakivubo stadium hosted by Kampala Region Football Association.
At the launch of the 2015/2016 Uganda Cup season on 18th November 2015, FUFA revealed that they would attach a humanitarian activity to support communities through the prestigious knock out tournament.
‘We shall attach a CSR activity by collecting clothes and other items that we shall give back to a selected charity organisation within the region that hosts the Uganda cup final. FUFA has also asked its 32 Members to join the cause’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein during the launch of the 2015/2016 Uganda Cup.
Three main areas have been identified as collection centres.
A special container has been designed and placed at FUFA House in Mengo where members of the public will drop their donations of adult and children’s clothes and other items like shoes, belts, babies toys, hand bags.
In Jinja, a collection centre has been created at Baba fm while Arua is also another centre.
‘We shall also receive donations from individuals who might not be able to make it to these selected centres. FUFA has plans of picking these donations from them’ added Ahmed
On match days of the semifinals, Nakivubo for KCCA FC, Entebbe (Entebbe FC), Buikwe (Vipers SC) and Arua (Onduparaka FC) will also be used as collection centres on 8th and 12th June.
On the day of the Uganda cup final (18th June, 2016), a container will also be placed at Nakivubo stadium for fans to deliver their donations.
The donations will be handed over to a charity organisation by FUFA and Uganda Cup Winners a week after the final.

Uganda Cranes technical and medical team will continue monitoring the physical fitness levels of three of its players Mike Azira, Denis Onyango and Moses Oloya summoned to the squad to face Botswana in the AFCON qualifier to be played on 4th June.
The trio was named in the 21 man squad by head coach Milutin Sredojevic last Wednesday.
The grueling demands of professional football come with many eventualities including injuries and players expected to keep fit for matches. Onyango at Mamelodi Sundowns and Oloya with Binh Duong picked up minor injuries last week and will be assessed for national duty.
Azira who has had a tough pile up of fixtures at Colorado Rapids traversing long distances over the United States in the US Major Soccer League is feeling the pinch and his current physical condition can’t allow him to give his best to the team.
He has communicated to FUFA and will now be replaced by Orlando Pirates midfielder Yassar Mugerwa.
‘Football needs honest and professional people. Azira follows in the footsteps of National team players like Tony Mawejje who honestly informed FUFA that he was not fit to play for the team when he was summoned for duty in 2014’.
Assessment and monitoring of physical fitness of the rest of the players summoned to squad will also continue under the watch full eye of the FUFA medical team.
Meanwhile Salim Jamal, Faruku Miya and Murushidi Juuko are already in the country while Emma Okwi and Kizito Luwagga will fly in tomorrow.

Uganda Cranes starts training on Tuesday at Acacia Mall with a gym session lined up for the players under the watchful eye of head coach Micho and his entire team.
Proline Soccer Club became the third club to join the Azam Uganda Premier league after winning the promotional play-off 4-1 against Lira’s Sporting United at Nakivubo Stadium on Sunday, 22nd May 2016.
Baker Mbowa’s coached side joined Onduparaka (from Arua) and Kirinya-Jinja S.S as the three sides promoted to the Azam Uganda Premier league starting with the season of 2016/17.
Gift Ali put Proline in the lead as early as the 23rd minute. The goal was canceled in the 38th minute through Dickens Okwi’s penalty.
Proline skipper Simon Monie Mbaziira scored a second half penalty to restore the lead before their lead striker, Edris Lubega added two more goals to cap a memorable evening that marked their return to the premier league.
Mbazira was later red-carded with 10 minutes to go for unsporting conduct.

In the main final, Kirinya-Jinja S.S overcame Onduparaka 2-0 courtesy of strikes from Musa Mugumba and Joel Madondo in either halves to win the FUFA Big league title.
The play-offs were watched by a mammoth crowd that included FUFA 3rd Vice president, Dennis Ssebuggwawo Mbidde, Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin Sredojevic, Arua Municipality MP Bernard Atiku, Kachumbari MP, Patrick Isiagi Opoloti, FUFA officials among others.
Kirinya – Jinja is now overall champion of the 2015/16 FUFA Big league.

FUFA Competitions Committee has confirmed the venue of this year’s Uganda Cup final to be played on 18th June.
The FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe revealed to fufa.co.ug that with the semifinals set to be played on 8th and 13th June (over two legs), the final is not set for Nakivubo stadium in Kampala region.
The stadium was chosen by Kampala Region Football Association as per FUFA’s criteria of giving each of its 8 regions a chance to host the Cup final.
The Uganda cup final in the past years has already been hosted by Northern, Western, Eastern region and Kitara
FUFA also confirmed that a Corporate Social responsibility Activity is attached to this year’s Uganda cup. Collection of clothes to be giving to a charity organisation with in a region that hosts the Uganda Cup final will receive this donation.
Clothes can be delivered at FUFA House.
Semi Final rules
The Semi final round shall be played over two legs on home and away basis
The team at more goals at the end of the return leg shall be winner of the match.
If teams are tying by goals at the end of the return leg match, the away goals rule shall apply
If the return leg ends in a tie and the FIFA spot kicks shall be applied to determine the winner

Phase one of the well attended Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Big League play-offs have been successfully played on Thursday at Nakivubo Stadium.
Sporting United from Lira beat Entebbe based Masavu 2-1 in the first game that started at 1:30 p.m.

The Lira club took a 2-0 lead by the half way mark courtesy of Denis Omedi Medinho and Emmy Ongom goals in the 6th and 27th minutes respectively.
Onesmas Andama pulled a goal back for Masavu through a well converted penalty in the 65th minute after Goddy Ayo had handled the ball in the forbidden area.
In the second game on the day, Ndejje University and Proline played to a goal-less draw in normal time.
Post match penalties swung in the favour of Proline 4-2.
Proline captain, Simon Mbaziira, Ibrahim Kidega, Joseph Mandela and Fahad Bayo all scored their kicks from the penalty mark.
Steven Ategeka and Albert Mugisa managed to scored for Ndejje University before Proline goalkeeper (also U-20 goalie), Saidi Keni saved efforts from Tonny Kasujju and second half subsistute Ronald Kiiza.
The final day of the play-offs will be held on Sunday, 22nd May 2016 for the third place and finals.
Already, Onduparaka (Elgon group) and Kirinya-Jinja SS (Rwenzori Group) qualified directly after topping their respective groups.

The registration for promotional exercise of referees at Grade II and III has attracted 87 participants as the deadline looms.
The FUFA Referees Standing Committee (FRSC) set Sunday 22nd May, 2016 as deadline for the applicants to have submitted the necessary requirements for the exercise.
So far Buganda region (54 referees) and Western (17 ) have submitted names of referees for the promotional exercise.
FUFA Referees Manager Samuel Egesa noted that ‘verification has already started. FUFA will only handle applicants who sent in documents in time for the exercise’
Egesa added ‘we also received individual applications from Soroti, Lira totaling to 16 and will be considered as well’
FUFA is strict on the promotional exercise but the other six regions are likely to miss out. Regions yet to send in names are; Kitara, Kampala, North East, West Nile, Eastern and Northern.
Since Federation of Uganda Football Associations implementing the new system adopted by the 64th FIFA Congress that abolished football agents and replaced them with Intermediaries, FUFA continues to encourage all those willing to follow the right procedure
FUFA Transfer Matching system Manager, also the competitions director, Ali Mwebe confirmed that the various stakeholders have welcomed the new rules and regulations about the Intermediaries that will replace the previous Player’s Agents Regulations.
Mwebe noted;
FIFA requires all its Member Associations to regulate and register anyone who intends to carry out Intermediary activities as defined in both the FIFA and FUFA regulations on working with Intermediaries with effect from 1st April, 2015.
We therefore call upon all individuals and companies wishing to conduct any Intermediary activity as defined under FUFA Regulations on working with Intermediaries including entering into a representation contract with a client to register with FUFA by 30th June, 2016 at 5:00 pm East African Standard Time.
At present situation, only Musa Sebulime is the only registered football Intermediary under the new rules.
The application form is only complete if the test of good character is attached.
The filled form will be submitted to FUFA together with proof of payment of application fees of $ 100 (one hundred US Dollars) or its equivalent.
Applicants will be required to attend a one day seminar at FUFA house, Mengo on the 20th May 2016 from 8:00 am.
FUFA will review and verify the applications and contact only the successful applicants.

Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has released the full list of 21 players set to play for the country in two important matches.
First will be the international build up against Zimbabwe on Wednesday 31st May 2016 before the group D AFCON 2017 qualifier against Botswana.
Addressing the media during the FUFA weekly press conference at Mengo on Wednesday, Micho hinted of the overwhelming desire to see Uganda to the best of expectations.

One of the surprise names called on the team is Werder Bremen striker, Lorenzen Melvyn who was born in London but to a Ugandan father, Drake Mugisha.
“We have summoned 3 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 6 midfielders and 7 strikers. Melvyn has been called to add to the competition to the already existing pool of strikers on the team” Micho told the media.
Non-residential training starts on Tuesday with aerobics sessions at Acacia fitness gym.

The playoffs will be held at Nakivubo stadium on Thursday, 19th May 2016 and Sunday, 22nd May 2016 for the third place and finals.
Already, Onduparaka (Elgon group) and Kirinya-Jinja SS (Rwenzori Group) qualified directly after topping their respective groups.

On Tuesday afternoon, a strong delegation from Busoga Kingdom led by the Sports Minister Amin Bossa, Minister of Finance Wamono Robert Solomons and Henry Batambuze-Chairman Football Committee and visited the home of football (FUFA House) in Mengo. Batambuze is also a Delegate in the FUFA Assembly representing Eastern region.
The trio discussed issues including the inaugural Busoga Kingdom Masaza Cup due to he launched soon.
FUFA reaffirmed its support towards football development in Uganda, Kingdoms and regions countrywide.

Discussions also hinged on development of the game in line with the FUFA Technical plan.
‘Our role is to support football development in all the 8 FUFA regions. Kingdoms through various sports events play a key role in helping give unknown talent an opportunity to showcase their skills’ said FUFA President Magogo.
