Lweza F.C Vs Vipers S.C – Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku

    4:00 p.m – Live on Azam T.V

The Azam Uganda Premier League defending Champions, Vipers Sports Club return to action after their debut CAF Champions league expedition with an away match to fast improving Lweza F.C.

The match will be played at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on the International Women’s day (8th March 2016).

Either sides won by an identical 2-0 scoreline in the last matches played on Saturday.

Vipers defeated Jinja side, Sadolin Paints F.C in Buikwe as the Orange men (Lweza) edged Maroons in Luzira.

Vipers coach, George ‘Best’ Nsimbe is well aware of such opposition as Lweza

“We need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season” as he told the club official website.

Nsiimbe will miss the services of forward William Wadri, defenderShafik Bakaki, tennage striker Alfred Leku and back left Dan Birikwarira but the good news though, defender Halid Lwaliwa returns from injury and replaces Alfred Leku who will not make the trip away.

Mike Mutyaba returns to the same ground that has been home (since his first round playing time with Express F.C).

He will need to replicate the goal scoring touch like in the previous match together with Erisa Ssekisambi, Kezironi Kizito and Saddam Ibrahim Juma.

On the other hand, Lweza F.C looks to the fine form of Moses Ndawula, new signings Paddy Muhumuza and Emmanuel Kalyowa as well as Uganda Cranes CHAN 2016 forward Geofrey Sserunkuma for inspiration.

    Maroons F.C Vs Bright Stars F.C – Luzira Stadium (4:00 P.M)

The Uganda Cup returns to action on Tuesday, 8th March 2016 with two games scheduled on the day.

Soana football club will be home to BUL F.C at the Kavumba Recreational stadium.

Goalkeeper, Godfrey Wakabu is set to return to the Soana goal posts after Muhammed Didi’s run for sometime now.

Simon Okwi’s rich vein of form will be put under close scrutiny when he faces his former pay masters who released him in the mid-season to the Kavumba side.

BUL F.C is still riding high after completing a double over KCCA F.C with David Kizza looked at the primary source of inspiration in the fixture.

In the second match of the day, Maroons host Bright Stars, for the second time in less than 2 weeks since Bright Stars won 1-0 in the league.

The fixture arrives in the wake of two different side’s contrasting form.

Whereas Bright Stars has drawn once and won three out of their four games, Maroons are on the losing streak.

Being a knock-out game, it remains to be seen which side qualifies to make the quarters.

Bright Stars will build on the solid defence line marshaled by  Mathias Kigonya in goal,  skipper Bernard Muwanga in the central defence and Jimmy Kibirige Lule’s mean play in the middle of the pack.

The quest to look for the strikes lies on the exciting Baker Lukooya, Emmanuel Jurungo, Lawrence Bajja.

Hope Doves is the only side now assured of a last eight berth as the rest of the teams are yet to play.

SC Villa is the defending champion of the Uganda Cup.

    2017 AFCON QUALIFIERS

Monday 26th March, 2016: Burkina Faso vs Uganda

Tuesday 29th Uganda vs Burkina Faso at Mandela National stadium

A meeting of National team coaches and the FUFA Technical Committee held at FUFA House on Monday morning has unanimously voiced its concerns that it will be impractical for the players to give 100% technically if the transport issue to Burkina Faso and back is not solved.

Uganda and Burkina Faso will face over two games on 26th and 29th March in when the 2017 AFCON qualifiers resume.

    IMG_0108

The meeting was attended by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Chairman of the FUFA Technical Committee Hamid Juma, Uganda U-20 National team head coach Kefa Kisala and Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. The coaches whose clubs provide the bulk of the players to the National team also attended. Stephen Kigundu Billy of Vipers, National Teams Officer Patrick Ntege and former National team U-17 coach Matia Lule were in attendance.

‘Our planning is in top gear but we need to be mindful of the players’ physical fitness levels over these two qualifiers’ said Micho.

Several technical personnel voiced their concerns about the demands of getting good results from both games.

‘Preparing the players is a different matter. Transporting them away to West Africa and back to Kampala for crucial fixtures is very demanding’ said Cranes goalkeeper’s coach Fred Kajoba.

    IMG_0115

Moses Basena who was also part of the meeting indicated his readiness to die a little for his country was quick to highlight the requirements.

‘The players and officials know what is at stake. However the working environment must be right for them to deliver both on and off the pitch’ said Basena.
Mujib Kasule who is a coach at Proline FC was in Mengo as well for the meeting.

‘This is a good forum for us to discuss technical issues. We have spotted areas that need to be attended to but the players’ welfare and physical fitness must be considered first ahead of any-thing’ said Kasule.

The Uganda Cranes Technical team will release the squad this Wednesday.

We shall be conducting similar pre-match press conferences ahead of the matches to be played. I urge the clubs to be cooperative in this cause‘ he urged.
