  • CECAFA 2015: Uganda defeats Malawi, progress to semi finals

    CECAFA 2015 1st Quarter final:

    Uganda 2-0 Malawi

    Uganda Cranes has majestically marched to the semi finals of the CECAFA 2015 Senior challenge cup after overcoming guest nation, Malawi 2-0 at the national stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

    Uganda’s team captain, Farouk Miya and Ceaser Okhuti each scored a goal in either half to seal victory.

    Miya scored in the 6th minute of the game and Okhuti’s goal came in the 48th minute.

    This is Uganda’s third victory in the tournament following the 4-0 victory over Zanzibar and 1-0 win against Burundi.

    Kenya had earlier beaten Uganda 2-0 in the group B opener.

    In the other quarter final played on Monday, hosts Ethiopia beat Tanzania 5-4 on penalties after a 1 all draw in normal.

    The two games of the quarter-finals will come on Tuesday.

    South Sudan will play Sudan in the ‘Sudan affair’ and Bobby Williamson’s Kenya Harambee Stars takes on Johnny Mckinstry’s coached Rwanda Amavubi stars.

    Semi-finals:

    Uganda will play Ethiopia in the semi finals on Thursday, 3rd December 2015.

    Uganda has won the CECAFA Senior challenge cup aa record 13 times, the best number of titles any country has taken tournament, which has been played since 1924 as athe Gossage cup.

    FUFA registers Vipers, SC Villa for 2016 CAF Inter Club Competitions

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations is receipt of communication from Confederation of African Football (CAF) about Uganda’s two entrants Vipers Sc and Sc Villa Jogoo for the 2016 Inter Club football.

    The deadline for entering teams is Monday 30th November, 2015 while the draw will be conducted on 11th December.

    Part of the communication from CAF reads ‘Your application of engagement will be submitted to the competent Committee for approval in accordance to the regulations of the competition’

    Azam Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers SC will participate in the CAF Champions League while Uganda Cup Winners Sc Villa Jogoo have been entered in the CAF Confederation Cup.

     

     

     

     

  • FUFA receives list of International referees for 2016

    Uganda’s list of international referees has been received from FIFA by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

     

    The list had 25 proposed names by the FUFA Referees standing Committee (FRSC) and was forwarded to FIFA by FUFA;
    Twenty two (22) referees were approved while the other three were not considered for the 2016 FIFA badges.

    Uganda Cranes will play the 2015 CECAFA senior challenge cup guest team, Malawi Flames in the quarter finals on Monday, December 30, 2015.

    Uganda progressed top of group B after overcoming Burundi in the last group fixture played at the Awassa stadium and will meet Malawi at the last eight stage.

    Uganda Cranes open the quarter final menu on Monday before hosts Ethiopia entertain Ethiopia again.

    On Tuesday, it will be a battle for the two Sudan brothers, South Sudan taking on Sudan in the first match.

    The last quarter final match will see the defending champions, Kenya entertain Rwanda.

    Uganda has won the tournament a record 13 times.

    She is the reason why her club Buikwe She Red Stars made the final of the FUFA Women Elite League (FWEL) 2015 season. Babirye is a joy to watch with her sweet left foot.

    During qualification in the Buganda Region Women League to the FWEL, Babirye scored 27 goals in 18 games to lead Buikwe She Red Stars to the title glory.

    In the final of the FWEL, She scored a poacher’s goal but Buikwe fell to Kawempe Muslim 3-2.

    She finished the FWEL season with 13 goals to her name.

    In her club’s opening game of the 2015/2016 FWEL, she scored a brace as Buikwe She Red Stars beat Wakiso Hills 3-0 in Buikwe.

    FUFA Juniors league: Bul Junior side defeat Jinja Municipal Juniors to win Eastern derby

    The FUFA Juniors league (national U-17) had several games played on Sunday, 29th November 2015.

    In the explosive Jinja derby, BUL F.C Junior side triumphed 3-2 over their neighbours, Jinja Municipal Council Junior team.

    Hamis Tibiaata scored a brace before Gabriel Oketch capped the icing on the cake for coach Daniel Kabaale’s side.

    The fixture was played at St Jude sports ground.

    At the Maroons play ground in Luzira, KCCA F.C Juniors and Vipers Junior team shared the spoils in the one all draw.

    Peter Magambo scored for KCCA Juniors before Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye replied in the same currency for Vipers Juniors.

    In Wobulenzi, Luweero, the Uganda Revenue Authority Junior team and their Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) counterparts tie failed to produce any goal.

    URA Juniors missed a penalty in the fixture as striker Tony Lutaaya, who was a second half substitute missed his kick from the penalty mark when goal keeper saved the effort.

    This is the second edition of the U-17 league with all Azam Uganda Premier league clubs required to have an U-17 team.

    There are two groups – Hat-trick and Treble that constitute the premier league team under age teams.

    The second highest football league in the country resumed on Sunday with several games played in the Rwenzori and Elgon groups.

    As expected, there were a few shocking results registered, a case in point when league new comers Wakiso United overcame visiting Kireka United at the Wakison district headquarter play ground.

    Mustapha Luyinda was the tormentor with the only goal of the day.

    Masavu F.C lost 3-2 to Wandegeya to lose the unbeaten run since being promoted at the onset of the season from the regional league.

    Proline Soccer Academy picked a crucial 3-1 away victory in Masaka against Synergy football club.

    CRO lost 2-0 to Busia Fisheries in Mbale. In Zombo district, at the Bar Okoro play ground, Paidha Black Angels and Bukedea Town Council shared the spoils in the one all draw.

    The league returns on Tuesday, 1st December 2015 with two fixtures.

    The 2015/16 Pepsi national beach soccer league returns to action on Sunday, 29th November 2015 at the sandy confines of Lido beach in Entebbe.

    Four of the games will come in the Hurriken group with the other set in the moonson group.

    Defending champions, MUBS, the only side that remains unbeaten plays Talented F.C.

    St.Lawrence University will entertain Miami Kops and Kayunga Town Council will take on Buwanika Bulls.

    Gafford Ladies football club has continued with their great start to the new season, winning She Makerere ladies by 3-0 at Cleverland play ground in Kyebando along Northern By-pass.

    Sophie Annick scored a brace with the third goal coming from Fallone Nahimana.

    Away in Buikwe, home side, Buikwe She Red Stars played to a goal-less draw with Rhiness.

    This is the second season running that the national women elite league is being played in Uganda.

    Second half substitute, Frank Kalanda scored Uganda Cranes’ only goal as the record CECAFA winners overcame a hard fighting Burundi at the Awassa International stadium in Ethiopia on Saturday.

    This was during the final group B match of the tournament that witnessed Uganda qualify to the last 8 stage as group B winners on six points.

    Kalanda’s beautiful strike was set up by team skipper, Faruku Miya.

    Later in the game, Kalanda missed doubling Uganda’s advantage when he failed to capitalize on fellow second half substitute, Isaac Muleme’s well laid cross from the left.

    Changes for Uganda:

    Isaac Muleme replaced Erisa Ssekisambu at the start of the second half, goal hero Frank Kalanda came in for Muzamiru Mutyaba and right back, Denis Okot was called upon to take the place of striker  Ceaser Okhuti within the last five minutes of the game.

    Uganda tops group B on six points and progresses to the quarter finals with a quest for the 14th CECAFA title well in sight.

    The second highest tier league in the country, FUFA Big league resumed on Thursday with three fixtures on match day nine (9).

    In the heart of Kampala City at Mengo Secondary School play ground, the home side Water F.C won the game 1-0 courtesy of a well curled free-kick from senior player, Yusuf Kinene.

    Kinene scored in the second half of the game after Nicolas Ntege had missed a penalty for the visitors.

    At Kawempe Muslim Secondary school play ground, the home side,  Baza Holdings football club won 2-0 over visiting Kira Young football club.

    Meddie Nyanzi and Edward Muyingo scored for Baza Holdings.

    At the Green light stadium in Arua, Onduparaka Football club whipped Bukedea Town Council 4-0.

  • CECAFA 2015: Uganda Cranes humiliate Zanzibar for opening victory

    CECAFA Group B:

    Zanzibar 0-4 Uganda 

    Uganda Cranes have humiliated the Zanzibar Heroes 4-0 to register their first victory in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia on Tuesday.

    Team skipper FarukU Miya scored two first half goals before Erisa Ssekisambu and Ceaser Okhuti netted the other goals in the second half for a memorable victory.

    The match was played at the Hawassa Stadium, 250 KM away from the capital city, Addis Ababa.

    Zanzibar finished the game with two players less following red cards to goal keeper Al Mwadini and Yahaya Mudathir for dangerous tackles on Erisa Ssekisambu.

    Uganda’s last game of the group is against Burundi.

    Uganda Cranes coach Milutn ‘Micho’ Sredojevic told www.fufa.co.ug that ‘We want to play our best football against Burundi on Saturday to qualify for the quarterfinals of the CECAFA cup’

    Micho added ‘We shall use the next three days to have our players recover from injuries picked up in the game against Zanzibar’

  • Nominees for FUFA female player of the year award score a combined 11 goals in the Elite League

    The three nominees for the FUFA Female player of the year awards Sandra Nabweteme, Hasfa Nassuna and Winnie Babirye scored a combined 11 goals during the weekend action in the FUFA Women Elite League.

    The trio were in demolition form while playing for their teams.

    Nabweteme’s rich vein in form continued as she bagged nine goals in two games. She struck a late winner on 82 minutes for defending champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary school over home side Mutesa Royal University Women FC on  Saturday at Wankulukuku stadium. Joan Nakirya scored the opening goal for Kawempe while Namatovu Sharon netted for Mutesa.

    Nabweteme was on the score sheet 24 hours later (on Sunday) against Olira FC. Kawempe won 10-1 with Nabweteme netting 5 goals. She already leads the scorers’ chart with 10 goals this season. She scored 4 goals against Ajax when Kawempe won 13-0 and one goal when her team edged Mutesa Royal University FC.

    Nasuna another serious contender for the female player of the year award netted a hat-trick in KAempe 10-1 win over Olira. She has taken her goals’ tally to 8 having scored 5 against Ajax in the opening match of the season.

    In Buikwe, all eyes were on Babirye-a player with a sweet left foot. She plays with a lot o confidence and never worried to show off her skills while with the ball.

    Buikwe She Red Stars-finalists in the league last season, defeated Waksio Hills 3-0. Babirye scored two of the three goals. Annet Nakimbugwe-mother of Hasfa Nassuna was also on target for Buikwe.

    CECAFA 2015: Uganda loses to Kenya in group B fixture

    The Uganda Cranes has had a sad start to the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, losing 2-0 to rivals Kenya on Sunday afternoon in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

    Kenya’s goals were scored by Jacob Kheli and second half substitute, Michael Olunga in the 29th and 50th minutes respectively.

    Uganda Cranes team skipper, Farouk Miya hit the goal bar in the first half for arguably the best chance for the team.

    In the other chances, Okhuti reacted slower to Okot’s shot cum cross in the first half and Miya missed a one against one encounter with Kenyan goalie to beat.

    Uganda returns to action on Tuesday against Zanzibar.
