SCVU won their last game 3-1 at Namboole last week, overcoming Jinja based FUFA Big league side, Kirinya Jinja S.S in the Uganda Cup.
Perhaps, on form striker, Fahad Tokko will sit out the game after his red card in SCVU’s 1-2 away win at Kakindu Stadium.

In Tokko’s absence, Morley Byekwaso will look to the blistering pace of Daniel Ssekabembe and Muzamiru Mutyaba’s creativity in the midfield.

URA’s hunt for goals will rely on sharp striker, Robert Sentongo.
Peter Lwasa (ankle) and Frank Kalanda (malaria) will miss the game and coach Alex Isabirye will look to the creative force of midfield icons, Yasser Mugerwa, Ali Feni Muhammed and left winger, Elukana Nkugwa.

BUL players, Hood Mayanja, Umar Mukobe and Hashim Sempala who started on bench in the victory against Masavu in Uganda cup are all expected to feature in interim coach Joseph Mutayba’s starting lineup.

SC Villa kick starts life without head coach, Sam Ssimbwa as the interim coaching bench of Ibrahim Kirya and technical director, Phillip Obwiny takes over their maiden game for the Jogoos.

The first game ended goal-less at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

Bright Stars Vs Vipers – Matugga

On form Bright Stars Football Club play Vipers Sports Club, the only unbeaten side in the league.
The Kawempe side whose last game was a 0-2 away victory over Paidah Black Angels in the Uganda Cup will miss the magic of on form midfielder Jimmy Lule Kibirige, who picked a red card in the 2-1loss to Police F.C at Kavumba last week.

Bright Stars sit 7th with 29 points and will build on the points picked during the goal-less first round draw away in Buikwe.

Julius Malingumu, Joseph Mpande, Farouk Miya and Kezironi Kizito will be the key elements for Vipers to seek for another routine positive victory in a bid to preserve their unbeaten run thus far.

Futsal is a growing brand of football in Uganda that affiliates to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) under beach soccer and Futsal.

Jjunju envisages the future of the sport in Uganda as bright with an upcoming league after the inter-University championships.

FIFA’s prime agenda at the moment is to spread at lightening pace the level of competitions in several futsal and beach soccer championships.

    Basic Rules of Futsal:

    TEAMS:

1- Each team starts with 5 players on the playing area including the goal keeper and up to 7 substitutes are allowed.

    TIME:
2- A full game has a duration of 40 minutes with each half taking 20 minutes and a 10 minute break. The clock is stopped every time the ball goes out of play.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:
3- Teams are allowed unlimited substitutions during the course of the game. The substitutions can only take place at the designate substitution zones. The referee does not have to be notified of the substitutions; however, the substitute can only join the play when his teammate has fully left the pitch through the substitution zone.

    GOAL POSTS AND KEEPER’S AREA:
4- The Goal posts are three by 2  (3×2) metres in size. The goal keeper’s area is formed by a 6 metre semi circle arc around.

    BALL OUT OF PLAY:
5- When the ball goes out over the sidelines, it is kicked back in (ball must be positioned on the line) with the opponents 5 metres away from it. Players have 4 seconds to do this or the kick will go to the opposition. When the ball goes out wide over the end lines, the goal keeper throws the ball back into play. Normal Corner kick rules apply.

    FOULS:
6- No sliding tackles are allowed – except the goal keeper in his arc area. No shoulder charges are allowed. All freekicks are indirect except when awarded for above type fouls. Opponents must always keep 5 metres away from the ball.

    ACCUMULATED FOULS:
7- If a team commits more than 5 fouls during the course of the game, every subsequent freekick awarded will be from a 10 metre mark and opponents are not allowed to block it or form a wall (in effect, a penalty from 10 metres).

    RED CARDS:
8- If a player from a team is sent off, the team may send on a sub after two (2) minutes have elapsed from the sending off or after the opposing team has scored a goal if its within 2 minutes period in question.

  • NIGERIA VS UGANDA: CLARIFICATION ON KEEPER’S JERSEY

The Uganda Cranes defeated Nigeria 1-0 at Akwa Ibom stadium Uyo on Wednesday in an international match. However during the game the Uganda Cranes first choice keeper Denis Onyango donned a white jersey with an unfamiliar writing of a figure on the back of his shirt.

Prior to the game it had rained heavily for close to two hours, even when the team traveled to the stadium and carried out their warm up, there were still heavy drizzles.

However the two keepers Ismail Watenga and Denis Onyango requested for change of the famous padded yellow and black stripped jerseys after the warm up for fear that they would easily soak up water if they landed down during the game. The drizzles were still heavy at kickoff time.

‘It wasn’t easy to change the shirts and numbers as they had already been entered on the team sheet and handed over to the day’s referee’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein.

‘We approached the match officials before kick off requesting for change of jersey. Initially they had refused but later granted us permission on condition that the colour of the keeper’s kit changes  but the numbers remain the same’ added Hussein.

The white jerseys carried as an alternative official kit for Cranes never had number 18. The only option available was the usage of any markings to add on to the existing number 8 on the white jersey to come up with number 18 which had already been entered on the team sheet.

FUFA believes this explanation will put to rest any questions raised about the jersey worn by Onyango during the match.
