Wednesday, 11th March 2015 is yet again another historic day in the history of Uganda’s football.
Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has launched the National U- 17 league at the main head quarters, Mengo in Kampala.
The launch has been announced by the FUFA President, Engineer Moses Magogo before a packed press conference of sports journalists from different media houses.

In line with our development strategy, FUFA is committed towards the growth of youth football and this is done by patience. Our Cameroon 2019 campaign will be fruitful once the respective youth structures are properly put in place.
The league shall thus be called the FUFA Juniors league.
We have given priority to each of the 16 Premier League sides to organise their respective junior teams
The FUFA President added.
FUFA Competitions Manager, Ali Mwebe clarified about the format of play that will constitute 16 teams divided into 2 groups of 8 teams each.
If teams they fail to confirm by 25th March 2015, then the chance will be given to FUFA Big league teams’ Eng.Magogo
The FUFA President used the same platform to appreciate the media towards their endless effort of supporting women and beach soccer as well as the other brands of the beautiful game in the country.
I commend the media towards their effort of reporting about football especially the FUFA Women Elite League. We have also seen remarkable coverage of the beach soccer activities especially The Uganda Sand Cranes.
The Uganda Sand Cranes are preparing for the CAF championship qualifier against Ghana that will take place at Sports Beach, Entebbe on Sunday, 15th March 2015.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Awards will be on this year at a date and venue yet to be named.
FUFA will use the awards to recognize the best performers in football for the year 2015.
The Chief Executive Officer of FUFA Edgar Watson released the names of the organizing Committee during the weekly press conference at FUFA House.

‘This committee will help in coming up with the full programme of the FUFA Awards in terms of looking for sponsors, venue,setting the date, categories and people to be awarded’ said Watson.
The committee has: FUFA VP Denis Mbidde (Chairman), Rogers Byamukama (FUFA Executive Member and Head of Marketing Committee, Stella Nassuna (Women’s football), Fred Katende (Media), Dorothy Bukirwa (URA FC), Esther Musoke (FUFA Marketing)and Bobkins Kibirige (Event Management).

The committee can also co-opt other people they feel will be helpful to the successful organization of the awards’
The FUFA Awards are highly valued at the federation as one of the commercial properties of the Mengo based Institution.
Ten round of 32 fixtures for the 40th edition of the Uganda Cup cup are set to be played at various grounds on Tuesday.
Like shocking results have dominated the Uganda Cup since its inception, many more are expected by the close of business today.
Several Uganda Premier League (UPL) sides will be in the action against determined lower tier clubs whose prime ambition among others is to prove a point.
Former winners, Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU)traveled over 450 km to the south west district of Kisoro where they are set to play home side, Nyarusiza F.C.
In the city center, Sports Club Villa will be playing at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium against Busia United.
Buganda regional outfit, Masavu F.C coached by former Uganda Cranes international, Livingstone Mbabazi plays host to Kumi United at the Katabi Gombolola grounds in Entebbe.
Masavu F.C eliminated Jininja Municipal Council at the previous stage while Kumi United beat Soana F.C.
Big league clubs tussle out:
The Uganda Cup will once again present the opportunity for FUFA Big league clubs to face each other.
Rwenzori group club, Water F.C entertains Elgon’s Ndejje University at Mengo Secondary school play grounds.
Elgon group’s Kirinya Jinja S.S, who edged Entebbe F.C play Artland Katale at Jinja S.S play grounds in Jinja.
U-23 striker Villa Oromochan returns to Zombo to lead the line for FUFA Big league side, Paidha Black Angels as they host Maroons at the Bar Okoro Stadium in Paidha.
After the round of 32 fixtures, the round of 16 games will be determined at a draw to be held on Wednesday, 18th March 2015 at FUFA House.
The Uganda Cup is the oldest knock out football competition in Uganda is organized by FUFA with Airtel Uganda as one of the partners in the organization of the tournament whose winner represents Uganda at the CAF Confederations Cup.
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) F.C is the tournament defending champion.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) would like to clarify on reports about the job of the National team coach.
Mr. Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is still under contract with FUFA. Both parties will honour it.
Sredojevic has not submitted any documents seeking termination of his contract with FUFA.
In the event that there is any development on this matter, FUFA will communicate to the football fraternity and other stakeholders.
Defending champions Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Kampala City Council (KCC) will face each other at the Uganda cup round of 32.
This follows the two team’s victories at the round of 64 on Sunday.
Striker, Frank Kalanda scored twice in the first half before winger, Peter Lwasa’s other goal to eject KCCA Corporates at Lugogo.
Regional side, Seeta United lost 1-2 to KCC at the Seeta Church of Uganda playgrounds.
These were two round of 32 games that the two teams missed because of their involvement in CAF engagements.
KCC scored through Herman Wasswa and Michael Birungi to ensure the berth in the last 32 teams.
The round of 32 games also started yesterday as BUL F.C eliminated Kira Young F.C 1-4 on penalties after a goal-less draw of the match held at Kira Town Council play grounds.
The other round of 32 games will be played on Tuesday.
The winner of the Uganda Cup represents Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup.
Curtain Raiser: Ex-Internationals 0-0 She Makerere University
The third edition of the Mama Becca Kazibwe Cup successfully climaxed at Old Kampala Secondary school play grounds, Kampala on the International Women’s Day.
At a special event watched by a mammoth crowd from all walks of life, FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.
Jinja based team, Namaleeba emerged the best in the under 14 girls category winners after overcoming fellow Jinja team, Jinja Army Primary school 3-0 in a thrilling final to topple over 80 other teams that participated starting from the regional qualifiers.
Sharuwah Nakayima, Hajira Namugabwe and Rashida Nanangu scored for Namaleeba Girls team in the finals.
London College Nansana overcame Kawempe based Gadaffi Integrated School 4-1 in a sided open final.
Aisha Nantongo notched a hat-trick before Asia Nakibuuka scored the other goal to seal the victory.
All London College’s goals came in the second stanza of the game.
Zaina Namuleme netted a penalty before Damali Matama’s goal proved to be the only consolation foe Gadaffi Intergrated School, who had earlier eliminated favorites Kawempe Muslim in the semi finals via spot kicks after a barren draw.
Speaking before the award and trophy presentation ceremony, FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo appreciated the efforts of various personalities who have worked tooth and nail to see the development of women football in the country.

This was the third time that the tournament was been played in honour of football’s number one female cheer leader, Becca Kazibwe (RIP), who passed on years ago.
Several excelling individual players were rewarded different prizes as Slyvia Namuli, a daughter to the deceased was recognized on behalf of the family.
Mama Becca’s daughter, Betty Namuli (third right) was specially recognized for carrying aloft the family’s legacy.
The best two teams per category received medals with the champion teams bagging gold.

Uganda National Under 23 side, The Kobs have been eliminated out of the U-23 All Africa Games qualifiers by Mozambique after a 1-4 painful loss to Mozambique at Nakivubo Stadium.
The two sides had played to the second goal –less draw that called for FIFA Post match penalty shoots.
Earlier, the hosts had dominated the game Mozambique opted to sit back and occasionally attack on the break.

Paidha Black Angels F.C striker, Villa Oromchan came closest to scoring in the opening half of the game (29th minute) – hitting the near post from an acute angle over 15 yards away.
Oromchan crossed for team skipper, Farouk Miya later in the second half but suspect finishing remained the team’s undergoing.

Bright Stars’ defender, Joseph Nsubuga got into a rare scoring opportunity and would have won the game for the hosts with a late effort that missed narrowly.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has today visited the Wakisa Crisis Pregnancy Centre in Mengo as part of the activities lined up for the Mama Becca Women’s Day Cup due this weekend.
FUFA team led by Technical Director Asuman Lubowa talking to the young girls at Wakisa Centre.
The charity cause by FUFA saw its staff make the short distance from FUFA House to Wakisa Ministries centre where they talked to the pregnant teenagers as they narrated their ordeals during the one on one sessions.
FUFA donated an assortment of food stuffs, clothes, footballs, cleaning equipment, cleaned the centre and fetched water.

Wakisa Ministries Director Ms Vivian Wakisa was a happy host.
‘I am very happy for this kind of support. You have made these young girls happy. Let us build on this relationship’ said Wakisa.
FUFA Technical Director Asuman Lubowa addressed the young girls on behalf of FUFA.
FUFA Finance Director Decolas Kiiza on his way to collecting water for the centre.
‘We care a lot about our daughters and the future mothers of Uganda. You still have a future and that i why FUFA is here to pay you a visit’ said Lubowa.
FUFA promised to continue with the partnership they have started with the Wakisa Ministries.

Uganda National Under 23 team (The Kobs) conducted their last training session at Nakivubo stadium on Friday morning.
The session lasted for one and a half hours in which 24 players still in camp took part.
Emphasis during the session were speed, agility and reaction done with the help of small sided games as the players managed to play under limited spaces with quick reaction and pace.
The team also took part in penalty kicks before the head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic engaged the players in a healthy talk session.
All the 24 players are at the Namboole Stadium hotel ready for the match.

The first leg between the two nations ended 0-0. The winner on aggregate will face Ghana for the available slot to qualify for All African Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Three venues named, FUFA boss to preside over as Chief Guest
The Organising committee of the FUFA Mama Becca Women’s Day Cup has announced three venues to be used during the two day tournament that will be held on 7th and 8th March, 2015.
The venues are Rubaga Girls, Old Kampala Senior secondary School and Lubiri senior secondary school.
17 Primary school teams in the Under-14 and 20 sides in the Senior women categories are expected to take part in a tournament held in memory of Mama Becca and celebrating the International Women’s Day.
Part of the weekend programme will have former women players form a team to play a yet to be opponents as a curtain raiser for the final match on Sunday.
The FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo will preside over as Chief Guest on the final day at Old Kampala.

Charity cause
The UFA staff will be involved in a charity cause towards supporting the Wakisa Centre in Mengo that looks after under -age pregnant girls. The visit of the centre will be at 10am as the staff will carry some donations for the young girls.

After Wednesday’s training match at Dam Waters play ground in Jinja where the Uganda Kobs smiled to a 1-0 victory over Sadolin Paints, the team’s head coach and the rest of the technical personnel have reduced the squad by 7 players.
The 7 players released from the team’s camp at the FUFA technical center in Njeru are ; Baker Lukooya, Simon Namwanja, Timothy Awany, Isaac Ntege, Hashim Sempala, Kasule Abdul Karim and Martin Opolot.
Training resumes for the rest of the team members on Thursday afternoon at the Jinja Dam Waters play ground before they travel to Kampala the next day.
In Kampala, they will train at Nakivubo stadium at mid-day.
