  • FUFA STATEMENT ON SPONSORSHIP OF THE ELITE LEAGUE, MAGOGO TO ADDRESS MEDIA

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) wishes to clarify on key issues related to the sponsorship of the top flight league-Azam Uganda Premier League.
    Following the take-over of the broadcasting and naming rights of the Elite League by Azam Media Ltd, FUFA brings to the attention of the football fraternity that;

    • FUFA has never signed any contract with Super sport in regard to the sponsorship of the country’s Elite League.

    • The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between FUFA and Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) in 2014 was a give and take for both parties. Whereas FUFA duly obliged to the MOU by not denying USLL and their agents to broadcast any of the Uganda Premier League matches, USLL did not fulfill their obligation of paying FUFA and the Clubs.

    • It is a fact that USLL received money from Super sport meant for referees and the clubs but the monies never reached the final beneficiaries.

    • As guided by the MOU signed between FUFA and USLL, the mediation process did not deliver consensus.
    • The non-performance by USLL led to the termination of the MOU for the good and development of the game hence opening up opportunities for other potential partners.

    • FUFA and the Clubs have now signed with Azam Media Ltd. Consequently, FUFA and the Clubs have already received funds with players and referees expected to benefit immediately.

    • Finally, FUFA would like to assure the football fraternity that their new partners Azam Media Ltd will be given the full backing by maintaining a healthy environment for their investment in Ugandan football.

    FUFA will further make clarification on this matter when President Eng. Moses Magogo and Legal Committee chairman Alex Luganda address the media tomorrow during the weekly press conference 10am at FUFA House.

  • CLARIFICATION: COACHING TEAM OF U-23

    FUFA would like to clarify on misleading media reports regarding the coaching staff of the National Under -23 football team. It is not true as reported in various media houses that the federation announced Frank Anyau and Phillip Obwin as assistants to Head coach Milutin Sredojevic for the U-23 side.

    During the weekly FUFA Press conference the FUFA Technical committee chairman Mr. Hamid Juma clearly stated that Sredojevic would work hand in hand with the committee where Anyau and Obwin are members.  Their role is purely administrative.  William Nkemba and Paul Ssali are the other members of the committee. Mr. Faisal Muhammad is the team coordinator.

    George Semwogerere (Somalia Football team) and Abdallah Mubiru (KCC FC) are still part of the U-23 coaching staff but will be engaged at the same time when the National team is preparing for the matches against Mozambique.

    Also at the same press conference on Wednesday the FUFA CEO Mr. Edgar Watson announced that the FUFA Executive had stayed their decision regarding changes for various national teams until after the coaching courses in Njeru are concluded with the federation being in position to  further information on this matter.

    FUFA believes that this communication will give a proper clarification on the matter to the football fraternity.

    Meanwhile the training session of the U-23 team starts tomorrow at Villa Park, Nsambya at 10am.
