We’ve worked on our mistakes and we’re looking forward to the challenge.’

‘It was a tough semifinal against Oasis as they gave us a hard time with their style of play, which focuses on ball placement something my boys aren’t used to. However, I’m glad we managed to secure a spot in the final.

We’re facing Rays of Grace again, a team we beat 5-1 in the opening game. However, we won’t be complacent because I’m sure they’ll come with a different game plan this time. We’re ready for them and looking forward to bringing the trophy home.’

CAF A Module, Block 4 completed at Multi Tech Business School

The six-month long coaching course under the CAF Coaching Convention resumed for more structured 40hrs from Tuesday 12th November 2024 to Saturday 16th November 2024.

Before turning up for the face-to-face sessions, the participants had a field visit in 2 groups one at KCCA FC and the other at NEC FC in Bugoloobi where they observed a training session on either side as well as interactions with technical and administrative staff of both clubs on technical leadership and management field topics as part of internship program.

The module done at Multitec Business Institute had participants undertake vital sessions in specialized areas like leadership and management, sports science, medical and nutrition as well as football fitness, performance tracking and reporting system.

Coaches were introduced to Catapult system for an insight into operations requirements. But most specifically data consumption in shaping their football training programs based on scientific data.

“We are very much aware of the changing trends in the game, especially the integration of science and technology. The FUFA President and his Executive Committee took a bold step to purchase Catapult equipment for the men’s and women’s top leagues. We are very pleased that this aspiration of the FUFA Technical Master Plan was prioritized. We trained users who were the primary agents of this technology at clubs. By integrating this learning into coaching courses of this magnitude, we ensure that head coaches are brought up to speed with the equipment and its scientific data to enhance their training programs for better football results,” said Ali Mwebe, FUFA Football Development Director.

“It was our opportunity to dive deep into the 12 volume and intensity metrics tracked and reported on by the catapult one system. It was such a valuable addition to our base knowledge of the system. We had opportunity to ask many questions and interact with the data, it’s so informative in shaping a proper weekly Micro-cycle periodization with visual volumes and intensity of training sessions done from a match till a match.” Said Coach Abbey Kikomeko of BUL FC.

The participants also undertook live match observation of Uganda vs South Africa AFCON Qualifiers as entire group for detailed match analysis as part of the block and practical application of the unit of match analysis.

  • FUFA and KCCA Extend FIFA Football For Schools Program to 79 schools in Kampala Region

FUFA and KCCA Extend FIFA Football For Schools Program to 79 schools in Kampala Region

FUFA and Kampala Regional Football Association in partneship with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) on Tuesday extended the FIFA flagship grassroots football development program, FIFA FOOTBALL FOR SCHOOLS across the city.

The event follows a national launch that was done in June 2024 at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru in presence high profile FIFA guests.

The event saw games teachers from 79 Government-aided Primary Schools under KCCA from all the 5 divisions of Kampala City undergo a one-day training seminar of football for schools’ philosophy which combine basic football with life skills for school going children aged 4-14. Additionally, each of the 79 schools was given 15 balls

The event was graced Jimmy Amatre, Deputy Director of Social Services at KCCA as well Willis Muwanguzi, Kampala Region Executive Committee member who represented the Chairman of Kampala Regional Football Association.

“I have also seen how hard Uganda has worked to make football more accessible for young people across the whole nation and I commend the federation for working with FIFA for the launch of football for school in the country earlier this year. Education is vitally important for any nation’s development especially when the country has one of the youngest populations in the world as Uganda does, FIFA football for schools will help with this mission using the power of football to teach important values to the young girls and boys and investing in Uganda’s future. And this programme combined with the many projects linked to FIFA Forward will help develop future national team players and contribute to the health of everyone touched by football in Ugandan society. I hope it will also play its role in making next generation of Uganda’s legends like those who reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1978 or more recently the Cranes that participated in 2017 and 2019 editions of the tournament. On the women side too, the future is bright as proven by the participation of the Crested cranes in the 2022 women’s Africa cup of nations.” He said.

FIFA Football for Schools was a highlight by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in his message to Ugandan football family as FUFA marked 100 years of existence in October.

The theory and practical sessions which also included Safeguarding of children in football was conducted by trainers from FUFA headed by Joan Namusisi, Phiona Nansubuga and Peter Emojong together with other Regional Trainers of trainers who recently attended the course in Njeru.

The next event shall be held in West Nile Region (Koboko and Arua) targeting 250 primary schools from Westnile Region.

AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Uganda Cranes Brace for South Africa and Congo

As the Uganda Cranes set their sights on the 2025 AFCON, preparations for a crucial double-header qualifier kicked off with intensity and resolve. The team faces a defining moment, starting with a home match against South Africa on Friday, November 15, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. With everything on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and the Cranes are fully aware of the magnitude of the task at hand.

The Uganda Cranes officially reported to camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi yesterday to commence final preparations for the key AFCON 2025 Qualifier matches. The team is set to face South Africa in a home fixture on 15th November 2024, followed by an away match against Congo on 19th November 2024.

The camp is alight with several local-based and foreign based players already in attendance as they aim to secure Uganda’s place in the upcoming AFCON tournament. The team’s technical and management staff are also on site, working together to ensure that all aspects of the camp are meticulously organized for maximum focus and productivity.

Today, Monday 11th November 2024 marked the beginning of the Cranes’ focused training camp. Though seven players have yet to report, the early arrivals took to the pitch with purpose, determined to make every minute count. Head coach Paul Put was encouraged by the energy and motivation his players displayed, even as they shook off the fatigue from long flights. “The players are very motivated,” he shared, confident in their commitment, yet mindful of the toll of travel. The Namboole training grounds were alive with intensity as the players poured their efforts into each drill, signaling the beginning of a spirited preparation period.

One of the camp’s key stories is the return of Ethiopian-based Wasswa Geofrey, a seasoned midfielder who last donned the national colors in 2023. Wasswa, who made a name for himself while at KCCA FC, was part of the squad that faced Algeria in the previous AFCON qualifiers. His experience is a welcome boost to the team. “I am happy to be back,” Wasswa expressed, with a look of determined resolve. “The competition is tighter of late, but I will work harder, give my best so that we qualify.” For Wasswa, this return is not just about rejoining the squad; it’s about playing a pivotal role in a dream shared by millions of Ugandans.

Amid the mix of seasoned veterans and fresh faces, Allan Okello stands out as a player with the potential to tip the scales in Uganda’s favor. Known for his playmaking ability, Okello has been a game-changer, recording three assists in recent matches—two of which he delivered as a substitute. His agility and quick thinking on the field are assets Uganda will lean on heavily against South Africa. Speaking to the press, Okello conveyed his enthusiasm: “First day, first training. Moods are high, and the most important thing on Friday is qualification.” With a mature perspective beyond his years, Okello embodies the spirit of a team that’s ready to give its all.

The Uganda Cranes are now camped in Kisaasi- Cranes Paradise Hotel, where they’ll spend four intensive days preparing for the showdown. The training regimen includes tactical drills, honing their physical edge, and meticulous planning for every possible scenario they may face on Friday. In this final stretch, Coach Put and his staff are fine-tuning formations and match strategies, determined to exploit every advantage they have over the Bafana Bafana. Namboole’s “slaughterhouse” awaits, and the Cranes are intent on turning it into a fortress against their South African rivals.

Uganda’s journey to this crucial match was set in motion with a dramatic 2-2 draw in Johannesburg. Goals from Denis Omedi and Rogers Mato proved Uganda’s resilience. Now, on their home turf, the Cranes are self-confident to go beyond resilience—they are preparing to dominate, with sights set firmly on victory.

The team will pick up from today’s work out at the same venue tomorrow Tuesday 12th November 2024 at 4pm.
