There is still excitement following Uganda Cranes 2-0 victory over Guinea and a 1-1  draw with Ghana in the ongoing qualification campaign of the 2015 African Cup of Nations. Football is a dynamic sport. Both Uganda Cranes and Uganda Cubs know that the competitions they were entered in are ‘missions possible’ putting in mind that the Senior team hasn’t lost a home game since 2005 while the juniors have won all heir four fixtures against Seychelles and Rwanda.
The Uganda U-17 ‘Cubs’ will enter the ray later today against Zambia knowing that they are just 180 minutes away from joining the continent’s top 8 teams in the Africa U-17 finals to be held next year in Niger.

The onus is on the youngsters to play their hearts all out and post good results in Lusaka as the passionate home crowd awaits them for the return leg in a fortnight.

The Uganda U-17 coach Matia Lule traveled with an 18 man contingent. No injury worries have been reported and the coach has kept the starting line up close to his chest.

However the Cubs will miss the services of team captain Andrew Okiring Isiagi who is in the US for studies. That role will now be taken up by his assistant Emmanuel Oringa.

FUFA PRESIDENT THANKS THE FOOTBALL FRATERNITY

The President, Executive Committee, Uganda Cranes players, staff, delegates and members of Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) would like to extend their since appreciation to the football fraternity for turning up to support the Uganda Cranes against Guinea on Wednesday  10th September, 2014 at Namboole stadium.

FUFA banks on your support whenever the National football teams play at home.

It is this unconditional and wavering support that always creates an electrifying atmosphere inside the stadium hence intimidating our opponents.

‘The support was tremendous. The fans played a key role in the Cranes 2-0 win over Guinea and we are looking forward to your support in the upcoming games when the Uganda U-17 plays Zambia and Cranes against Togo’ said FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo.

Some of the fans who turned up to support the Uganda Cranes. FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo has thanked the fans for their unconditional support.

However we have received information that some of our fans never had smooth entry to the stadium especially at the Eastern and Southern gates.

The federation would like to apologize for any mishaps that could have happened yesterday as fans tried to enter the stadium.

We have already embarked on improving in that area for the fans to have easy access to the stadium in the next home games.

FUFA will organize a two day practical session for demonstrations purposes involving various stakeholders like security, ushers, traffic police, fans and sponsors on management of a football event on match day. This will be conducted before the home game against Togo next month.

Once again, thank you very much for your tremendous and continuous support towards the Uganda Cranes.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with Nile Breweries under the brand Nile Special lager have today launched a reloaded Uganda Cranes Na-Mutima campaign; tagged ‘Cranes Fund’.

    ???????????????????????????????

Nile Breweries’ Isaac Ssekasi explains how the bottle cap underliner can be sent to 8888 to win an instant prize.

Under this arrangement, the fans will have to buy a Nile Special product, send the code under the bottle cap underliner to 8888 and a Ug.shs 30 levy will be attributed to Uganda Cranes.

    ???????????????????????????????

For every Nile Special bottle drank and the code sent to 8888, Uganda Cranes instantly gets U.shs 30.

The campaign comes in the wake of Wednesday’s AFCON group E qualifier against West African nation, Guinea.

“This is to mark the second phase of the country wide rallying of fans held earlier this year with the Western and North East tours” Nile Breweries Corporate Affairs Director, Onapito Ekomoloiti said in his opening remarks as he addressed the media at the function held at Nile Special plant in Luzira.

Onapito preached accountability of the highest order in regards to the campaign.
“We promise to account for each and every penny under this the campaign for the Cranes”, he added.

    ???????????????????????????????

FUFA Vice President, Justus Mugisha appreciated Nile Breweries initiative towards the prosperity of Uganda Cranes. Also in the photograph are Isaac Ssekasi (extreme left), FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson, Onapito Ekomoloit (to Mr Mugisha’s left) and Timothy Kayondo (extreme right).

    How to Participate:

Fans will stand a chance to win instant prizes like tickets to the games, mobile money and airtime just to say thank you.

There are also chances to lucky fans to win home and away match tickets to watch Ghana, Togo and Guinea.

    ???????????????????????????????

“The reasoning behind the campaign is to rally nation-wide support for the national team as we embark on a grueling Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign” Isaac Ssekasi said.

    Cranes Na-Mutima Tours:

The nation-wide tours with the National team where exhibition games with the regional teams are played will once again resume with Gulu at a date yet to be affirmed.

“The massive support the team received in both the Western and Eastern regions was overwhelming. Indeed some of the fans got a chance to see the team in action for the very first time”, Ssekasi added.

The Na-Namutima campaign aims at responding to some of the players’ off-field issues during the entire campaign. As preparations go on for U17 African Youth championship qualifiers match against Zambia, the Uganda junior side U17 continued with their goal oozing style of football by beating Jinja based Uganda Cranes Ex Internationals 5-0.

A game that started on a low note with each side showing respect to the other, gained its momentum after Ashraf Mugume opened the scoring in the 8th minute thanks for the assist from new team entrant Peter Lusimbura.
The veterans under the stewardship of the two experienced tacticians, Mathew Lucha and Vincent Luchamuzi could not do enough to help their side pass the ball passed their opponent’s goal net throughout the entire game.
The boys who looked to have mastered their coach’s tactics pretty well, found it easy in the second half to dismantle the veterans defence by scoring another four.

In 50th minute, striker Shaban Muhammed received a brilliant through ball from Hassan Senyonjo and scored the second goal with a lot of ease and then in 53rd minute Hassan senyonjo “Zaga” had to score a long range passed the veterans goalie Abudallah Zein thanks to Senyonjos individual effort.
In the final 15 minutes cubs still dominated the game and managed to score another two goals thanks to long shots from midfield maestro Frank Tumwesigye and forward Polot Julius in 75 and 86th minutes respectively.
Uganda cubs has now won four out of their 5 friendlies played so far since they resumed residential camp here at Njeru Technical turf on 25th of last month.

They have thrashed teams like Tranova Academy 5-0, KAYOFA 4-2, Fields of Dreams 11-1 and Ex-Internationals 5-0. Their only loss was 0-1 which came against Jinja based super league side Bul fc.

Uganda National U-17 team will travel to Zambia on Wednesday to play their youngster counterparts on Friday at the Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka.

The team has been in camp for close to a fortnight now and all the members on the squad right from the technical department to the players are ready for the battle ahead.

Find out what some of the players on the team are saying about the Zambia – Uganda Clash.

    Hassan Senyonjo (Midfielder):
“Well I want all people out there to have faith in us. We’re doing pretty well in training as we prepare for the away game and always coach gives us confidence in everything we do. We are working on penetrative passing as well as getting behind the ball if we lost it. So it is a factor of self confidence that can lead us to success.”

    Pius Obuya (Left winger):
“I have played with various sides but I have never got this unity anywhere before like it is in this team. And also what amuses me most is that if we have a problem we sit as a team right from the technical down to the players and we solve it and this has helped us a lot. I thank the coach so much because he has advised us a lot on what to do when it comes to individual discipline and sports technicalities.”

    Mugume Ashiraf (Attacking midfielder):
First of all I love listening to music and reading books that is how I spend my leisure time so there is no way you will find me being taken by peer groups. To me these peer groups has wasted a lot of talents here in Uganda and I hate living the same way.

When asked about difficulties faced so far during their qualifiers between Seychelles and Rwanda, the lad straight away answered that Rwanda’s game away was a tough one though we managed to win but it taught us a lesson on how to handle tough situations when they happen to come.
Also when asked what he says about Zambia’s tie? He said they want to stick to coach’s tactics which has been their major weapon for them to win on their opponents.

    Joel Jangeyambe (Right Back):
“I think this is a big opportunity for us, we must all use it to sell our identity out there. I know Zambia is into our way but our mind is beyond that. We have activated our regime and we want to leave a landmark. So it’s now or never because opportunity only comes once so I look forward to maintain my personal standard by listening to what coaches say and I feel that is the only way to go if I want to achieve success.”

    Kato Samuel (Central Defender):
We are assured of this win because the coach has prepared us well both mentally and physically. We started this campaign on a winning note so we must end up with victory with that I assure Ugandans. Our dreams as a team is to play in world cup in Chile come next year.
