FUFA WARNS PLAYERS: DESIST FROM USING FALSE DOCUMENTS

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has warned players to stop using falsified names to feature in FUFA sanctioned football tournaments at all levels.

This is a matter of impersonation that FUFA will not entertain in the football circles.

It has come to the federation’s attention that a one Mutebi Davids is alleged to have used a false identity under different names in the ongoing Masaza Cup.

Mutebi Davids is alleged to have falsely registered himself under the following names Ahmed Jagwe and Abdul Karim as opposed to the names captured in the FUFA licensing records.

This matter has been forwarded to the FUFA Disciplinary committee for further scrutiny and action.

‘FUFA is encouraging the players and teams involved in football competitions to promote the spirit of fair play by providing the proper documentation to the organisers’ said FUFA Chief Executive Office Edgar Watson.

Following this matter, FUFA would like to caution and warn all players registered with the federation to desist from playing under false names in various football competitions which might lead to severe sanctions that may include banning the culprits from football activities.

The Cranes net shook as early as the 10th minute when Kamilou Daouda’s long range shot caught goalkeeper Robert Odongkara off guard for the hosts to take the lead.

  • Maroons referred to FUFA statutes -arbitration

In respect to a court suit by Maroons FC against FUFA, USLL and FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo
The FUFA lawyers counsel Evans Ochieng and Alex Luganda represented FUFA and Eng Moses Magogo in defence.

FUFA opposed the application by Maroons FC on grounds that the club opted out of FUFA, CAF and FIFA (association) football despite several reminders by the federation.

Association football is voluntary to belong but once admitted regulations must be adhered to. For a club to participate in association football league, it has to be licensed by FUFA after satisfying the minimum club licensing regulations which Maroons has not done for the last two years.

The presiding judge Justice Stephen Musota questioned the applicants (Maroons FC) as to why they were bringing football matters to ordinary courts when the FUFA statutes prohibited that and provided for mechanisms for dispute resolution.

The judge directed both parties to engage in negotiations such that the matter is taken out of court.
So upon consent by all parties to the suit, it was resolved that the parties be given up to Thursday 4th September, 2014 at 10am to report to court with their final mediation resolution.

Court suggested arbitration and Minister of State for Sports Hon Charles Bakkabulindi was agreed upon as the arbiter by the parties.

Finally, court directed that save for the kick-off of the elite league that had been postponed by FUFA Super League board, other activities in preparation for the league kick off should continue till the determination of the court issues.

  • FUFA STATEMENT ON TODAY’S MEDIA REPORTS: GEOFFREY MASSA

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) wishes to clarify on the matter of Uganda Cranes striker Geoffrey Massa.
It is indeed true that FUFA received communication from Massa that he could only be released by his club on Wednesday 3rd September, 2014.

Definitely connection to Niamey, Niger for Massa where some foreign based players inclusive of Denis Onyango (South Africa), Luwagga Kizito (Portugal), Tony Mawejje (Iceland), Andy Mwesigwa (Kazakhstan) have regrouped for a four day camp was not feasible from the technical point of view for the game against Ghana.

It was therefore agreed that Massa is reserved for the game against Guinea on 10th September, 2014, a ticket has already been sent to him and is expected in camp tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd September, 2014) to join the rest of the Uganda Cranes players at Sky Hotel in Nalya.

Arrangements are also being made for Alex Kakuba to fly in from Portugal to join the players at Sky Hotel as the medical team monitors the progress of Brian Majwega’s injury.

The players already camp at Sky Hotel: Benjamin Ochan, Allan Kyambadde, Bwete Brian, Martin Kiiza and Brian Majwega
