  • FIFA RANKINGS: Uganda placed 86th

     

    Uganda has maintained its 86th position in the latest FIFA/Coca cola rankings released today in Zurich.

    Uganda has 395 points, a position above Gabon (386 points). Uganda still remains the best rated nation in the entire CECAFA region.

    Ivory Coast is the top ranked country on the African Continent, maintaining their 21st position with 830 points.

    Uganda’s opponents in the second round of the AFCON 2015 Qualifiers, Madagascar is ranked 189th.

    Uganda’s other likely opponent in the next round of qualifiers, Mauritania from north-west Africa is ranked 139th, up by 13 places -thanks to two wins in CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

    Equatorial Guinea who play Mauritania are ranked 113th with 261 points.

    Ghana is 38th with 713 points, Guinea ranks at 51st position (580 points) while Togo is 3 places below Uganda in 89th with 374 points.

    Spain, German and Portugal are 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Spain has now held the top spot since September 2011.

    There was little activity before the final round of friendlies ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, and the May edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking reflects the results of just 13 new matches.

    No fewer than 143 teams have retained their April ranking. There has been some notable movement in the top ten, however, with Brazil climbing two places to fourth to lead the pack of four South American teams ahead of Colombia (5th, down 1), Uruguay (6th, down 1) and Argentina (7th, down 1).

    FUFA General Assembly to guide on Mujib’s position

     

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is in receipt of a resignation letter by Vice President FSL Mr. Mujib Kasule from his position on the Executive Committee.

    However the federation would like to clarify that the election to the position of FSL Vice President is by the FUFA General Assembly in accordance with the FUFA statutes.  

    Therefore, Mr Kasule who attended today’s closed training session of the Uganda Cranes at Namboole stadium will continue executing his duties until such ratification by the FUFA General Assembly.   

    We request you to give him the necessary support.

    -KCC FC and SCVU players turned up but omitted from session as they still have Uganda cup semi-final matches to pay

    Eleven (11) players took part on the opening day for the Uganda Cranes training session at Mandela National stadium, Namboole as Uganda Cranes kicked off their build up to the 2015 AFCON 1st leg second round qualifier away in Madagascar.

    Apart from the KCC and Sports Club Victoria University players, the rest of the local based players reported for the two hour training session this afternoon.

    There were guest appearances for some payer during the training session with the hope that if fitness standards are met, they could be considered for selection. The guest players are Kirizestom Ntambi, who plies his trade in Vietnam, Nasibu Muwanga based in the United Kingdom with Braintree football club (features in the Blue Square league), Ali Kimera of SCVU- to help Vipers keeper Ismail Wetenga.

  • Masembe, Mwesigwa pass FIFA players’ agent exams

    Brian Masembe and Isaac Mwesigwa are the two latest Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) player agents from Uganda.

    The development follows the duo’s performance during the player agents’ examinations that were done on April 4th 2014 at FUFA House.

    They both have a vast knowledge of grass root football with a particular and keen interest in the youth.

    They join the class of 6 other Ugandans Tushar Ruparellia, Livingstone Kyobe, Nasser Mulindwa , Tony Awori, Alintuma Nsambu and  David Tigawalana who have been the only and official registered FIFA Player agents from Uganda.

    The next set of exams will be conducted in September this year.

    Uganda Cranes training programme for the 2015 AFCON qualification campaign commences today afternoon at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    Apart from the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and Sports Club Victoria University Players (will be engaged in Uganda Cup 1st Leg semifinals this Friday), the rest of the summoned players are all expected for training today.

    ‘We shall start preparations on Wednesday evening with the first training session’ said Mujib Kasule, Chairman FUFA technical Committee who addressed the media today during the weekly press conference at Mengo.

    Head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic who also attended the press conference expressed concern about the availability of the several players busy on club duty.

    Goal keepers, Robert Odongkara (St George, Ethiopia) and Dennis Onyango (Wits University), striker Yunus Sentamu (As Vita) and Midfielder Tonny Mawejje (Haugesund, Norway) are the players who availability has left the technical team very much concerned.

    ‘It is very unfortunate Odongkara got injured during St Georges’ match on Tuesday. We shall keep monitoring his recovery and hopefully he gets better’ Micho told the press at Mengo.

    Goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge, playing in the Kenyan Premier league with Thika United has been named on the standby list.

    ‘By Monday we shall have known the rough sketch of players in camp’ added Micho.

    Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) has successfully defended the FUFA Super League (FSL) title following a 3 – 1 home win over arch rivals Sports Club Villa at the KCCA Stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday.

    The newly crowned champions will also get 15 million shillings from FUFA.

    The long awaited 2013/14 FUFA Super league season comes to a tense climax on Tuesday, 6th May 2014 with all the 8 fixtures across the country.

    At the KCCA Stadium in Lugogo, the league defending Champions and current leaders (0n 57 points), Kampala City Council (KCC) will need the three points to clinch their 8th league title as they face 16 time league winners, SC Villa.

    KCC is just a point better than second placed Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU), who plays Bright Stars at Namboole Stadium on the same day.

    A win for SCVU and any result less than victory for KCC will see SCVU clinch her maiden league honour in the history of the club founded in 2001.

    Relegation Mathematics:

    With Mbale side, CRO and Proline already confirmed as the relegated sides, the third side to go down will be known after Tuesday’s round of games.

    3 teams remain engaged in the relegation mathematics. Bright Stars (27 points), Entebbe fc (26) and Masaka L.C (21 with 2 games to play) will all be involved.

    At Namboole Stadium, Morley Byekwaso’s SCVU hosts Livingstone Mbabazi’s Bright Stars;  while at Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, Entebbe entertains fast improving, Express football club.

    At the Buikwe Stadium in Mukono, Abu Kigenyi will lead his Masaka Local Council as they to face home side, Vipers.

    The referees’ Manager Samuel Egesa arrived safely in Cairo, Egypt where he is undergoing a CAF workshop for instructors and assessors. Egesa is one of the experiences officials invited for the course to help them improve on their job.

    FUFA super league defending champions’ title aspirations have suffered a set back as they were held to a non scoring draw by Kira Young at Namboole Stadium on Sunday.

    With now one game remaining, KCCA finds themselves in a must win situation against SC Villa on Tuesday as Victoria University plays the last game against Bright Stars at Namboole Stadium on the same day.

    Else where, Proline football club have joined CRO as the second side to be officially relegated to the FUFA Big league next season.

    Proline has lost to Jinja based side, Bul after a 0 – 1 loss at Lugogo, KCCA Stadium.

    An own goal from Ali Mbogo following Martin Kivumbi’s tempting cross in the area condemned Proline to their 19th loss of the season.

    At Kavumba recreational stadium, Vipers won 3 – 0 over home side, Soana.
    Joseph Mpande netted a brace in the game.

    The league resumes on Tuesday with the final round of games.

    The FUFA super league resumes this Sunday (4th May 2014) with 3 different fixtures on card.

    Defending champions and current table leaders, Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) football club visits Kira Young at Namboole Stadium.
    KCCA is joint top with 56 points (same points as Sports Club Victoria University).

    Three points for KCCA will leave the Lugogo based side hoping for only a draw as they host 16 time record champions SC Villa on Tuesday during the last day season games on Tuesday.

    KCCA made a giant stride towards their 8th super league crown when they overcame a hard fighting Bul side 0 – 1 at Kakindu on Friday.

    Kira Young has lost their last two games. 1- 0 at home against Simba and by the same scoreline against URA in Lugazi last Friday.

    In the other games on menu this Sunday, Bul travels to Lugogo to play Proline in a game the latter who wish to win lest they face the relegation knife.

    Vipers travels to Kavumba Recreational stadium to play Soana in the other fixture.
    The league concludes this Tuesday.

    CRO relegated, Bright Stars survives the axe on debut season but either Masaka, Proline or Entebbe-two of them will play in FUFA Big League next season

    With just three days left to the climax of the 2013/14 FUFA Super league, Kampala City Council Authority football club (KCCA f.c), Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) and Uganda Revenue Authority f.c have all won their respective fixtures to ensure a tense finish to the league.

    KCC won 0 – 1 away in Jinja at Kakindu courtesy of a Tom Matisko goal. Sports Club Victoria University beat SC Villa 3 – 1 at Namboole Stadium.

    Yassar Mugerwa, Isaac Muleme and Ceaser Sapeo got the goals for the University side while Moses Gale notched SC Villa’s consolation.

    At the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi, James Kasibante scored URA’s lone strike to take the whole 3 points over the visiting Kira Young.

    Express’ great run in the league continued as Godfrey Lwesibawa’s first half goal condemned Proline to a tricky situation with 2 games to go for the latter side.

    At Buikwe stadium, Vipers were held to a 1 all draw by Police f.c. Farouq Miya scored for the home team before Harunah Mulindwa got the visitors strike.

    Masaka L.C and Bright Stars played to a non scoring draw at the Recreational Stadium in Masaka while at Wankulukuku Stadium, Entebbe f.c brighten their chances of surviving relegation after that 1 – 0 win over Soana.

    Siraje Ssentamu scored for Entebbe in the 30th minute.

    Simba beat the already relegated Mbale based side, CRO 2 – 0. Alex Witaba and Johnson Bagoole scored for the army side at Bombo Military grounds.

    The league resumes on Sunday with 3 games on card. Proline hosts Bul f.c at Lugogo KCCA Stadium, Kira Young entertains KCCA at Namboole and Soana hosts Vipers at the Kavumba recreational Stadium.

    KCCA is on 53 points, joint top with SCVU but ahead of  third placed URA by 3 points.

    KCCA travels to Jinja with the most potent attacking force in the league having netted  56 times.

    League sharp shooter, Tonny Odur, an on colour Herman Wasswa, Brian Majwega and William Wadri will lead the Kampala side’s hunt for goals and the crucial three points towards the 8th title league pursue.

    URA will be hosting Kira Young at the Lugazi based Mehta Stadium.

    At Namboole Stadium, 2nd placed SCVU, from that 2 – 3 victory over Police fc at Kavumba on Tuesday  hosts the league 16 time record champions, SC Villa.

    With CRO the only assured relegated side, the rest of the teams in the drop zone will be playing to avoid the knife that pushes the bottom lagging 3 sides to the FUFA Big league next season.

    13th placed Entebbe (with 24 points) hosts Richard Makumbi’s Soana at Wankulukuku while Bright Stars travels to the intimidating Masaka recreational arena to face the the home side, Masaka L.C.

    Proline, 14th with 21 points will entertain an on form Express f.c side at the KCCA Stadium in Lugogo.

    Mutundwe Lions 2-1 Ndejje University

    Rwenzori group leaders, Lweza football club made a giant stride to gaining promotion to next year’s top flight football as they held Baza Holdings to a 1 all draw at Villa Park on Wednesday.

    Veteran defender, Idi Ssebalata has given Baza Holdings the lead after 20 minutes with a fierce free kick from distance before Lweza made amends 5 minutes to full time courtesy of a contested goal from former Bright Stars and SC Villa striker, Francis Ssembatya.

    Lweza now accumulates a point to get to 38 points while Baza Holdings climbs to 36.
    Both teams remain with a single game (Lweza hosts Vurra and Baza plays Artland).

    In the other matches played, Mutundwe Lions beat Ndejje University 2 – 1 at KCCA Stadium to cement third place and a play off slot.

    At the Kitezi Primary school grounds, the Saints overcame home side, Wandegeya 4 – 0 courtesy of a Moses Okello hat trick and a Ronald Musana strike.

    Uganda’s representatives at the FIFA/CECAFA Communications workshop arrived safely last night with the FUFA president Engineer Moses Magogo joining them this morning at the Double Tree By Hilton Hotel in Dar es Salaam.

    The FUFA team has CEO Edgar Watson and Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein.

    The other Ugandan contingent of Lawrence Mulindwa-CECAFA Vice Chairman and FUFA Honorary President and Rogers Mulindwa (CECAFA media Officer) are also already in Tanzania.

    The workshop ends on Friday evening and has has been organized by FIFA in conjunction with  CECAFA and hosts Tanzania Football Federation.

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) officials led by the President, Eng Moses Magogo will lead Uganda’s contingent of 3 to the 4 day FIFA sensitization workshop to be held at Tanzanian capital of Dar es Salaam.

    The workshop, which starts Wednesday, 30th April will run up to Saturday, 3rd May 2014 has been organized by FIFA in conjunction with  CECAFA and hosts Tanzania Football Federation.

    Football Associations’ Presidents, Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s) and Communication managers (media officers) for the CECAFA member nations will attend the workshop.

    Eng. Moses Magogo, Edgar Watson and Ahmed Hussein will represent FUFA at the workshop. The honorary FUFA President and CECAFA Vice Chairman Lawrence Mulindwa and CECAFA Media officer Rogers Mulindwa will also attend.

    Meanwhile, Samuel Egesa will attend the referees’ and assessors’ course in Egypt at the start of May. The course will start on 4th May and end on the 9th May 2014

    Jackson Nyiima appointed new FUFA education officer

    Former National team player Jackson Nyiima has been appointed the new FUFA education officer with immediate effect.

    The development was announced by the Federation’s spokesperson Ahmed Hussein on Wednesday during the weekly FUFA Press conference at Mengo, Kampala.

    “I am grateful for the appointment. I will strive to deliver and meet the job’s expectations but this is not a one man’s show. we shall use the available resources to get the results”, a jovial Nyiima told the media.

    He is expected to start work on 1st May, 2014 as he replaces Mr. William Byuma, who has been occupying the post.

    Nyiima will oversee the federations’ educational curriculum, all educational programmes and coaches’ education.

    AFCON 2015 CAMPAIGN: Micho names 35 for Uganda Cranes duty

    Uganda Cranes Head Coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic has on Wednesday morning named a strong squad of 35 players  at the Federation Headquarters in Mengo.

    The players will be expected to start training on 7th May 2014 with a residential double session  at Mandela Natioanl stadium in preparation for the upcoming qualifier against Madagascar for 2015 AFCON Qualification campaign which will be held away in Antananariv0 between May 16th – 18th 2014.

    “We have 34 players, including one player who has not been actively involved in football. This is because we are looking at the entire qualification campaign not basically these coming match”, Micho told the media.

    FUFA Vice President in charge of technical issues, Mujib Kasule told the packed press conference about the professional code of conduct instrument that will be signed by all players and officials before entering camp.

    “This code of conduct is basically to streamline the working conditions of the players and the officials before they commence work. It contains details regarding the wages, allowances and match bonuses for the on members of duty while on national team duty”, Mujib clarified.

    Micho explained all the named players were on merit and they plan to play a friendly game before the first leg.
