  • Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League: Matchday 6 Wrap Up

Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League: Matchday 6 Wrap Up

We are only midway through the first round but the 2025/2026 season has already delivered quite a number of talking points. Match week six had a huge impact on the standings as there was plenty of movement over the weekend. Rines SS WFC got off the mark, Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC picked vital wins while She Corporate FC’s unbeaten run came to an end.

Here is the full round-up of the weekend’s action.

Kampala Queens triumph despite St Noa’s dominance.

Catherine Nagadya scored the decisive goal, securing Kampala Queens a hard-fought 1-0 win against St Noa Girls-Zana FC at Muteesa II Stadium.

This is St Noa’s debut campaign in the league, but you wouldn’t know it while watching the hosts dominate against the defending Champions. The home side flowed with confidence from the outset, producing a hugely entertaining game but it was the visitors who got the lead six minutes past the half-hour mark through Catherine Nagadya, capitalising on a defensive lapse to net her third goal of the season in three consecutive games. The winger is stepping up brilliantly to lead the Queens’ title defence.

The host’s head coach was satisfied with the display but hurt they didn’t win the 3 points.

‘We controlled the game, got into the key areas but we lacked the cutting edge, its hurts but we lost against a strong team; however, we have got plenty of positives to take into the next fixtures,’ Tonny Mawejje told this website after the match.

On the other hand, Kampala Queens Assistant Coach Sharon Kizza was satisfied with the result.

‘Our players showed seniority, the hosts played better, but we capitalised on our chance and defended resiliently. These are three important points away from home,’ she told this website after the match.

The result marked back-to-back clean sheets for the Queens, who sit second on the table, while St Noa remain in the mid-zone. Zainabu Birungi was named the Woman of the Match.

Kawempe too strong for She Corporate FC to go top.

Latifah Nakasi inspired Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC to a 2-0 triumph over She Corporate FC at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. The forward’s stunning brace in 18 minutes proved decisive to end the Sharks unbeaten run.

Whatever Ayub Khalifa said to the players in the locker room before the game worked wonders. The warriors got off to a flying start as Latifah Nakasi reacted fastest to tap home a loose ball in the box, scoring in the opening minute, setting the tone of the proceedings early on in a 4-1-2-3 shape, overloading the sharks’ defence and causing tactical difficulties for them. The warriors’ front three of Jovia Nakagolo, Asia Nakibuuka and Latifah Nakasi looked sharp, using speed to attack quickly, creating chance after chance. This dominance paid off in the 18th minute when Latifah tapped home Jovia’s cutback, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.  Upon restart, the warriors stopped the sharks from playing progressive football, limiting them to a few chances, securing three vital points on the road to propel them to the top of the table.

Ayub Khalifa will be much happier with the collective defensive unit that kept three clean sheets on the bounce. They are looking way stronger than last season. Speaking to this website after the game, the tactician highlighted the importance of the win.

‘The win is a big boost for us, it was a must-win for us to go to the top of the table. I am glad the girls delivered the three points.’

Rines SS WFC get off the mark.

Rines SS WFC edged Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC 1-0 at St Gerald’s Ground to secure their maiden victory of the season. Yasmeen Nalukwago’s 27th-minute strike proved decisive after goalkeeper Joan Namusisi failed to deal with a well-worked corner, finding Nalukwago well-positioned to slot home.

Despite the hosts’ relentless pressure in the second half, teenage goalkeeper Bridget Nansamba made a string of stand-out saves to ensure they claimed the 3 points. Her efforts were rewarded with the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match award.

She Maroons FC and Amus College FC return back to winning ways.

She Maroons FC cruised to a 2-1 victory against Makerere University WFC at Prison Grounds, Luzira, with goals from Immaculate Kizza and Lillian Kasuubo securing the victory, while Halima Kampi scored the consolation for the university side.

At Amus College Stadium, Amus College WFC secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Lady Doves FC, thanks to goals from Opisa Shayline and Aujat Doreen.

Amus College WFC player Charity Katusiime was named the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match.

The wins propelled Amus College WFC and She Maroons FC to 4th and 5th positions on the log, respectively.

    Asubo and Olila share spoils.

Asubo Ladies FC and Olila H/S WFC played out a 2-2 thrilling draw. With the hosts taking a two-goal lead at halftime, thanks to goals from Faiza Bint Ibrahim and Mercy Nimusiima, only for the visitors to mount a stunning comeback in the second half, with Mary Lotyang scoring twice to level the game and was named the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match.

  • Uganda Cubs Make History Again: Earn First-Ever World Cup Point After 1–1 Draw With Chile

Uganda Cubs Make History Again: Earn First-Ever World Cup Point After 1–1 Draw With Chile

The Uganda U17 men’s national team (The Cubs) have written another beautiful chapter in the nation’s football story after earning their first-ever FIFA World Cup point, holding South American side Chile to a 1–1 draw at Aspire Zone in Doha.

It was an evening filled with courage, teamwork, and belief — and one that showed the true spirit of Ugandan football.

Before the game, many people expected Chile to win comfortably. They had experience, height, and a longer history in international tournaments. But when the referee blew the first whistle, everything changed.

The Cubs started with confidence and energy, moving the ball with maturity that amazed even the fans in the stadium. They passed neatly, pressed fearlessly, and created many goal-scoring chances. The Chile goalkeeper had to make several saves, and sometime Uganda was denied by the crossbar.

The Cubs played like warriors — calm in possession and dangerous in attack. But just when the first half was about to end, Chile found a goal. In the third minute of added time, a free kick was delivered from the left side and Bruno Torres rose highest to head it home.

It was a heartbreaking moment for the young Ugandans who had worked tirelessly. Seconds later, the whistle for halftime blew, and the Cubs went into the break trailing 1–0 despite being the better side.

The second half began with even more fire from Uganda. The boys came back pushing harder, pressing the Chile defenders and creating several half chances. They shot from distance, attacked from the wings, and kept the Chileans on the back foot.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo kept encouraging his players from the touchline, urging them to stay calm and keep believing.

With 90 minutes played and five additional minutes announced, Uganda made a substitution. Ssozi Derick, a young midfielder, came on to replace Okello Richard.

It was a change that would turn the story of the day.

In the 93rd minute, Uganda won a corner kick. Torach Elvis swung in a fine cross into the penalty area. Nkoola Arafat jumped to meet it but missed the ball slightly, and it fell to Ssozi Derick, who reacted quickly.
While falling, he acrobatically kicked the ball — it hit the crossbar, bounced down, and crossed the goal line before a Chile defender cleared it away. There was no time to celebrate. The Cubs players just picked a ball near the goal and ran to the center, hugging the debutant hero Ssozi Derick on the way, whose name will forever be remembered in Uganda’s football history.

At first, the referee received a message from the VS officials to review the goal. The stadium went silent as everyone waited.

Then came the big moment — the referee pointed to the center circle, confirming the goal!
Uganda had equalized, and the fans went wild in celebration.

A few moments later, the referee blew the final whistle — Uganda 1, Chile 1. The Cubs had done it again. After scoring their first-ever World Cup goal against Canada, they had now secured their first World Cup point.

In the stands, FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim stood proudly among the Ugandan supporters, celebrating the historic moment with a smile.

It was not just a draw — it was a moment of pride, proof that Uganda belongs on the world stage.

Speaking after the match, Uganda Cubs Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo praised his players for showing fighting spirit and strong character.

‘It shows resilience, it shows a team that has character — a team that can come back from a goal down and from a painful loss against Canada,’ he said.

‘It’s not the result we wanted because we wanted three points, but I believe we had a better team throughout 90 minutes.’

He added that the boys have improved greatly from their first game and are learning fast on the big stage.

‘Some teams have been here for over 12 years and have never scored a goal. We already have two,’ he continued. ‘The way we transitioned from defence to attack, the combination play, the breaking of lines — all were good. The boys deserve praise for this performance.’

The hero of the day, Ssozi Derick, could hardly hide his joy after the final whistle. It was his first appearance at the tournament, and he made it count in the most dramatic way possible.

‘I am very happy I have scored a goal for my country,’ said Ssozi. ‘It was my first time to play, and I thank God that I have helped my team to gain a point.’

With two goals and one point from two matches, Uganda has already made a powerful statement in their debut FIFA World Cup campaign.

They will play France next in the final group fixture on Tuesday 11th November 2025 at the same Aspire Zone but on pitch 3, kickoff at 3:30pm EAT.

  • Uganda Cubs Seek Redemption Against Chile in Crucial FIFA U-17 World Cup Encounter

Uganda Cubs Seek Redemption Against Chile in Crucial FIFA U-17 World Cup Encounter

The stage is set for a defining moment in Uganda’s maiden FIFA U17 World Cup journey as the Uganda Cubs prepare to face Chile U17 in their second Group Stage fixture on Saturday at Aspire Zone – Pitch 8. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM local time (3:30 PM EAT).

Following a spirited performance in their World Cup debut that ended in a narrow 2–1 defeat to Canada in the dying minutes, the Cubs are determined to bounce back stronger. The team’s focus has now shifted fully to the Chile clash — a game that could determine their fate in the tournament.

For goalkeeper Mazige Gilbert, making his first appearance on the world stage was a dream come true — but one he hopes to build on with victory.

‘For me as an individual, I felt good playing my first game at the World Cup. It is everyone’s dream to play on such a stage, and I was so happy to get that chance,’ Mazige said. ‘I tried my level best to help the team win, but maybe that’s what God gave us. We are now focused on our next game tomorrow, and I promise to give my best so that we can win and qualify for the next round.’

Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo remains optimistic that his side will rise to the occasion, emphasising that the group’s ambitions remain unchanged despite the opening setback.

‘Our primary goal here is to progress from the group stages, and football gives you many chances. Tomorrow, we have another opportunity to achieve that target — if we win, we will be back in contention,’ he said. ‘We played good football against Canada and gave a strong fight. Any team can lose that way, but the most important thing is to pick lessons and apply them in the next game.’

Ssenyondo also gave insight into their tactical preparations, describing Chile as a defensively organised side.

‘They play in a 1-5-3-2 system, which shows they are very compact at the back and avoid conceding easily. We’ve studied their style, and I believe we can break them down and get the goals we need.”

The Cubs concluded their final preparations this evening at Al Thumama Stadium training pitch, with high spirits and renewed determination across the camp. Their motivation received an extra boost from the FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, who joined the team since their tournament kickoff to offer encouragement.

Hon. Magogo commended the players for their composure and fighting spirit, urging them to keep believing and representing the nation with pride. His presence, coupled with the growing support from Ugandans living in Qatar and the UAE, has greatly lifted the team’s morale ahead of Saturday’s must-win encounter.

  • Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League; Matchday 6 Preview, She Corporate Hosts Kawempe In A Top-Of-The-Table Clash

Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League; Matchday 6 Preview, She Corporate Hosts Kawempe In A Top-Of-The-Table Clash

Matchday 6 promises intriguing action as the top four sides face off against each other. While the talk of the title race may seem premature, a positive result in these fixtures could well be a catalyst on the road to success for either side. Six fixtures are spread across the weekend, with two matches on Saturday and four on Sunday.

On Saturday, St Noa Girls-Zana FC welcome Kampala Queens FC while Uganda Martyrs take on Rines SS WFC.

Debutants St Noa Girls-Zana FC who are winless in the last three matches host defending Champions Kampala Queens at Muteesa II stadium in a crucial encounter. Having won 5-0 to Olila, last time out, the queens will come into this game with much confidence. Fortunately, they have the most in form forward Kamiyati Naigaga in their ranks, who is on a five-game-scoring streak and crowned player of month for October. With his creative midfield unit in top form and firing from all cylinders, Firew Asefa who made a year at the palace on Tuesday, will be confident of securing a positive result.

However, in St Noa, the queens are going to face one of the most demanding teams in the league. Their attack has been outstanding, boasting the ability to trouble any side in the league. With forwards Dorcus Lwalisa and Patricia Nayiga leading the charge, they will be looking to get back on track. However, Coach Tonny Mawejje will need to strengthen his defense, which has been vulnerable lately.

Still on Saturday, Uganda Martyrs will look to build on their momentum and spring further up the log when they host Rines SS WFC at St Gerald’s Ground, Lubaga. The hosts, building on their impressive recent form, will hope the collective effort, spearheaded by Brenda Munyana and Nusulah Nakintu will yield their first home win.  On the other hand, Rines, familiar with the Lubaga based outfit from school football, will look to leverage that knowledge to put up a strong fight and claim their first win of the season.

Matchday six will conclude on Sunday, She Corporate FC host Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Amus College WFC welcome Lady Doves FC, Asubo Ladies FC take on Olila H/S WFC while She Maroons entertain Makerere University WFC.

She corporate FC and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC face off in an epic top of the table clash at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Both teams have made impressive starts, remaining unbeaten thus far. The sharks remain solid at home with maximum points but Kawempe equally has a flawless away record, racking up maximum points on the road. They are all level on 13 points, but sharks hold the edge with a superior goal difference of 8, compared to 6 of the warriors. Interestingly, both team’s attacks have been clinical and ruthless this season, making a significant impact. The forwards have been in scintillating form, with every single one of them already earning the woman of the match honors.  With the leagues meanest defenses facing off, both coaches are aware that the stakes are high.

‘We know it will be a tough game, but we have worked hard to get here, we taking it game by game, focusing on playing good football, but most importantly, getting the three points at home’ said Ininahazwe Belyse, Head Coach, She Corporate FC.

His counterpart Ayub Khalifa equally believes it will not be an easy game,

‘They have had a good start, but we are confident in our players abilities, we will stick to our game plan and aim to pick maximum points’

She corporate will hope the attacking trio Sandra Kisakye, jesca Namanda and former warrior’s player Rebecca Nakato deliver another impressive performance to unlock the visitors defense while Kawempe will rely on the firepower of Latifah Nakasi, Agnes Nabukenya and Jovia Nakagolo to secure a positive result.

At Kampala Quality Ground, Asubo Ladies FC, who have shown recent improvement, will be keen to claim their first win when they host Olila H/S WFC. The hosts will pin their hopes in Shadia Babirye and collective teamwork to trouble Olila’s defense while the visitors will look to build on promise, they have shown in the recent games to get a positive result. This match promises to be an intense affair, with both teams desperate to climb out of the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Amus college WFC will hope to steady the ship when they host Lady Doves FC who are still searching their breakthrough win at Amus College stadium. Both teams have had uneven starts to the campaign, but they will be looking to flip the script. It’s a tight contest as both teams desperately need the points.

At Prison Ground, Luzira. She Maroons FC and Makerere University WFC face off with both team’s hungry to get back on track. With individual brilliance on either side, home advantage could prove decisive in this contest.

Player spotlight: Sumaya Nsisi in her own words

The Player Spotlight is a feature by the FUFA Communications Department that offers bold and in-depth conversations with female footballers. It explores mindset, motivation, defining moments and personal reflections. The segment reveals the person behind the player.

In this week’s feature, Lady Doves FC midfielder Sumaya Nsisi, who recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Nkumba University, opens up about her football and education journey.

FUFA COMM: Congratulations on your graduation. How does it feel to finally achieve this milestone?
SUMAYA: I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have achieved this milestone. It has been a challenging three-year journey but I am thankful for the experience. I thank the Almighty Allah, our Director Mr Julius Mugisha and everyone who has supported me throughout my university journey. I encourage all female footballers to prioritise education.

FUFA COMM: What made you fall in love with the game, and when did you first start playing football? Which position did you play and has it changed over time?
SUMAYA: I grew up with great passion for football but I got my first chance to play during my Primary Seven vacation. That experience sparked a journey that took me to Highway SS Sironko for school football, and later to Lady Doves FC. Crested Cranes player Fazila Ikwaput’s story and achievements inspired me to start playing as well. Her name was well known in the eastern region at the time and it motivated me so much.

FUFA COMM: Can you share your most memorable moment from your football journey so far?
SUMAYA: My highlight so far was scoring in my first start for Lady Doves FC against Rines SS WFC last season, ending a long stretch of coming on as a substitute. Unfortunately, I got injured in the same game.

FUFA COMM: What is the best sporting advice you have ever received and from whom?
SUMAYA: Coach Emmanuel Boranapate of Nkumba University has been a game changer for me. He taught me to trust and believe in myself, learn from setbacks and stay focused. With his advice, I am confident I will reach my goals.

FUFA COMM: What are your goals on and off the pitch?
SUMAYA: My goal is to succeed and make an impact whenever I am given the chance to play. I will take it step by step and with hard work and determination, I will get there. Off the pitch, I have built a strong foundation with my degree in Business Administration. I am passionate about the business side of sport and I am determined to make a mark as a leading woman in sports business.

FUFA COMM: How do you think your team can turn around the current state of play?
SUMAYA: We have had a slow start but the coaches have been working closely with us, reviewing each game and guiding us on how to improve. We are learning from our mistakes and we are more determined than ever. The next game is a fresh start and we are going to start winning.

FUFA COMM: How do you keep yourself entertained on long bus trips to away matches?
SUMAYA: Our team has a good vibe but personally I usually watch movies or listen to my favourite music.

FUFA COMM: Lastly, if you could have dinner with two footballers, past or present, who would they be and why?
SUMAYA: Laughs… It would be Fazila Ikwaput and Riticia Naboosa because they have both played an important role in my career to date.

I am here and delighted to announce to you that FUFA has agreed with Coach Paul Put to a new contract as the Head Coach of the Uganda Cranes for the next two and a half years starting with immediate effect.’

He confirmed that Put remains Head Coach of the senior team the CHAN team and also the under 23 boys team and will continue to lead strategy and player selection.

FUFA First Vice President Justus Mugisha said the renewal decision is based on performance and alignment to the Federation’s technical master plan.

‘This is in line with the profound vision of building number one both on and off the field and also from the work done by our coach in the recent past where we nearly qualified for the World Cup and where our National Team performed very well in CHAN for the very first time we reached the quarter finals.’

He stated that FUFA rarely renews contracts but in this case the Executive Committee made the easiest decision because of his work.

‘We are confident at FUFA that you will take us to the real top as far as African football is concerned and maybe you never know even the next World Cup.’

He thanked the Government of Uganda for the continued financial support that makes the football cycle possible.

‘I want to thank the Government of Uganda, our Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni and the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, because of the financial assistance that they give to the players.’

‘You cannot imagine how many messages I received from my players who asked me to continue with Uganda and I always felt very good in Uganda. I felt respected by the Federation by players and also by fans.’

Put highlighted that having everyone behind the National Team is key and added ‘I want to continue in the next two years to come out with results with good football and like we have been doing from the beginning creating the family more strong.’

James Bogere Makes History in Uganda’s World Cup Debut, but Late Goals Deny Cubs a Dream Start

    Doha, Qatar – Wednesday, 5 November 2025

When James Bogere calmly slotted home in the 25th minute under the Doha night sky, the stadium erupted. The 17-year-old striker had just written Uganda’s name into World Cup history, becoming the first player ever to score for the country at a FIFA World Cup.

The Uganda Cubs, playing their first match on the grandest stage of youth football, showed courage and confidence against Canada at the Aspire Zone Complex. Bogere’s early goal, a composed finish after neat buildup play, sent Ugandan fans—many working and living in Qatar—into loud celebration.

‘It felt good because I was surprised,’ Bogere later said. ‘I didn’t expect fans to come, but seeing them made me happy. I just want to tell them that next game, we come back stronger.’

For most of the game, Uganda played with discipline and belief. Their passing was crisp, their pressing energetic, and their defense organized. The Cubs looked set to announce themselves to the world with a famous victory.

    But football can be cruel.

Two minutes to full-time, Canada’s Elijah Roche rose highest from a corner to head home the equalizer. As the clock ticked deep into stoppage time, a moment of hesitation in Uganda’s defense allowed Marius Aiyenero to win and convert a penalty, turning joy into heartbreak.

At the final whistle, Bogere sank to his knees in tears. Despite making history, defeat stung harder. His words afterward captured both his pain and maturity.

‘It would have been better if we won the game,’ he said softly. ‘Yes, I scored, but what matters most is when the team wins. Football is funny—sometimes you are in front, sometimes you fall behind. It is about who takes their chances.’

Bogere’s goal wasn’t just a number on the scoresheet—it was a moment of pride for a nation. The young forward has already shown qualities that mark him as one for the future: composure, power, and a team-first mindset.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo, though disappointed with the result, praised his team’s effort and attitude.

‘It was our maiden game in our maiden tournament,’ he said. ‘We played very well up to the 88th minute when we conceded two goals from set pieces. We didn’t manage the game well at the end, but I believe we lost honourably. We still have two games to go, and our target remains to come out of the group.’

He also thanked the Ugandan fans who filled the stands with drums, chants, and flags.

‘The support was unbelievable,’ Ssenyondo added. ‘Even after the final whistle, they kept clapping and encouraging the boys. I ask them to come back and support us in the next game.’

Though the result may sting, Bogere’s goal will forever remain a golden memory—a first step for a young nation learning to walk among the world’s football giants.

Uganda will now turn their focus to their next match on Saturday, 8th November, at the same Aspire Complex, this time on Pitch Eight, with kickoff set for 3:30 PM.

    As Bogere put it:

    ‘We will come back stronger.’

  • Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League: Matchday 5 Wrap Up

Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League: Matchday 5 Wrap Up

The weekend delivered stunning moments and stoppage-time drama to keep the early title race intriguing.  Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and She Corporate FC extended their winning streak to four games, while Kampala Queens returned to winning ways, and Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC registered their first win.

Here is the full round-up of the weekend’s action.

Agnes Nabukenya maintains Kawempe’s winning streak.

Captain Agnes Nabukenya netted twice as Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC coasted to a 2-0 triumph over She Maroons FC at Kawempe Muslim SS Ground.

The warriors asserted their dominance from the outset, showcasing relentless attacking intent. The payoff came in the 21st minute when Skipper Agnes Nabukenya converted from the spot after Dorcus Kisakye, who made her first start of the season, was fouled in the box. Just before halftime, Agnes sealed a 2-0 win with a thunderous free kick, her third goal of the season.

What will please Ayub Khalifa most is the influence of his key players in the different game situations. She Maroons put up a physical fight but Krusum Namutebi was up to the task. Agnes Nabukenya, the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match, Jovia Nakagolo and Asia Nakibuuka pressed effectively. Dorcus Kisakye was a constant threat; the defensive shape held strong. Overall, it was a great team effort.

The victory marked the warriors’ fourth straight win and back-to-back clean sheets, putting them joint top with their upcoming opponents, She Corporate FC, on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

She Corporate FC’s remarkable start continues

The Sharks announced their title credentials with a gritty fourth straight win, defying history to triumph at a venue where they had previously gone winless in their previous three visits, proving their firm determination this season. They are showing all the signs of a team that is clicking; their calm, collective mentality with strong team bonding is proving to be pivotal.

She Corporate FC staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Lady Doves FC 2-1 at Katusabe Ground. The visitors trailed after Resty Kobusobozi headed home the believers early on, but the lead was short-lived as Leticia Nakyeyune capitalised on a goalkeeper’s error to level the score.

In the second half, both teams battled fiercely, and the match remained deadlocked until stoppage time, when star player Jesca Namanda struck gold to send the away fans into raptures.

The victory kept the Sharks at the top of the table for a third consecutive week, level on thirteen points with Kawempe Muslim but with better goal advantage. For Lady Doves, its not too late to turn around the false start for the 2021 Champions. She, Corporate Winger Sandra Kisakye, was named Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match.

Kampala Queens overcome Olila H/S WFC

Kamapala Queens FC returned to winning ways in style with a resounding 5-0 victory over Olila H/S WFC at MTN Omondi Stadium. Kamiyati Naigaga, Catherine Nagadya, Zaitun Namaganda and Joanita Ainembabazi [ who scored a brace] did the damage.

The queens dominated possession from the outset, creating numerous chances, but the breakthrough came in the 42nd minute, and they scored three goals in a span of five minutes to lead 3-0 at halftime. The second half followed a similar script, with Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match Joanita Ainembabazi adding a brace to seal a comprehensive victory.

Coming into this game, the queens were still searching for their first clean sheet. Coach Firew Asefa made a tactical change in goal, starting Namakula Gloria instead of Sharon Kaidu, which paid off as they secured their first clean sheet. What stood out was the impressive combination play among the queen’s forwards, who were involved in all five goals. They now have the best goal advantage in the league, which could prove pivotal in their title defence.

Uganda Martyrs get off the mark

Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC had shown promise in previous games, despite failing to yield positive results. Their goalkeeper Joan Namusisi has been outstanding, and forwards have been creating chances in front of the goal.

However, all that changed when they cruised to 1-0 victory over Makerere University WFC at Makerere University Ground, registering their first win and clean sheet of the season. Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match Brenda Munyana scored the decisive goal in the final five minutes. The victory provides the Uganda Martyrs with the much-needed momentum to steady the ship.

Elsewhere, Asubo Ladies FC earned a crucial point away from home, drawing 0-0 against Amus College WFC at Amus College Stadium. This marks a notable improvement for Asubo Ladies, following up last week’s point against the defending champions. Their promising player Namataka Jemima earned the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match.

At Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Rines SS WFC and St Noa Girls-Zana settled for a 1-1 draw, sharing the spoils. Patricia Nanyanzi’s penalty kick cancelled out Esther Babirye’s early strike. The result leaves Rines still searching for their breakthrough win. Their player Ayerango Justine was named the Finance Trust Bank Woman of the Match.
