Rines SS registered their first win of the 2022/22 season after stunning Makerere University WFC on matchday six.
In the game played on Saturday at Makerere Main pitch, the visitors picked a surprising 2-1 win.

The consolation goal for the University was score by captain Josephine Ndagire who was returning from suspension.
Despite winning, Rines SS remain bottom of the log on 3 points.
Kawempe Muslim failed to pick maximum points off Asubo Gafford Ladies FC as the latter fought hard to pick a point at home.
Shakira Nyinagahirwa had given Kawempe the lead at Kampala Quality Playground but the home side found the equalizer through Madina Nakayi.
Kampala Queens maintained their perfect start with a sixth straight win against Olila High School.
The game played on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru was watched by FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim who also doubles as Kampala Queens patron.

Uganda Martyrs continued to impress with yet another home victory, this time against free falling UCU Lady Cardinals.
The Lubaga based outfit earned a comfortable 4-1 win to move to second place on 13 points, five behind leaders Kampala Queens.
Kevin Nakacwa, Latifa Nakasi, Catherine Nagadya and Sumaya Nalumu were all on target for Uganda Martyrs in the rout.

Elsewhere, defending Champions She Corporate were held to a one all draw at home by Lady Doves.
Evelyn Nandera had given Lady Doves the lead just four minutes after kickoff but Joanita Ainembabazi equalized for the hosts at the stroke of halftime.
Uganda Hippos embarked on the mission to return to the U20 AFCON tournament on a bright note with a 2-0 victory over rivals Tanzania on Saturday evening at the Al Hilal Stadium.
The first quarter of the gamw witnessed a cagey approach from both sides.
A minute later, Ibrahim Kasinde chip from the right met Abasi Kyeyune but the latter failed to control it in the opponents box.
In the 23rd minute, skipper Isma Mugulusi had a chance to break the deadlock but his shot from the 18 yard box was blocked.
The awaited moment then came in the 31st minute as Titus Ssematimba broke the deadlock with a cool finish.
Three minutes later, the Hippos doubled their lead through Rogers Mugisha who capitalized on a Kasinde minute on the right, a move that was initiated from the middle of the park by Frank Katongole.
In the second stanza, the Tanzanians returned desperate to change things but the Hippos were resilient.
The 63rd minute saw Hippos make changes introducing Faisal Wabyoona and Simon Mukisa for Kasinde and Ronald Madoi respectively.
With a quarter an hour to play, defender Samson Kasozi made a timely goal line clearance to deny the visitors after goalie Abdu Magada was beaten.
Tanzanian continued pressing for a consolation with a 78th minute cross from the left beautifully punched away by Magada.
With 10 minutes to play, Hippos made the third change with Kyeyune paving way for Simon Ssemayange.
The Jackson Mayanja coached side managed to keep it tight at the back to ensure they walk away with maximum points and a clean sheet.
Hippos will return to action on Saturday 05th November against Ethiopia at Al Hilal Stadium.
FUFA has made strides in sharing coaching education knowledge right from the beginners’ level to the very highest in the Country. With the demands of the game growing each passing day, the coaches are required to improve in their respective fields. Through the Football Development Department at FUFA, the Nakawa DFA organised a beginners’ coaching course in line with the call by the FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim’s strategic plan manifesto of teaching more coaches to be able to impart the right skills at the grassroot levels.
A total of 65 coaches participated in the course and were awarded beginner’s coaching certificates.
The elated coaches after the course requested the organisers to plan early enough for the coaching levels that follow.
The coaching course was closed by the FUFA EXCO Member from the Kampala region Football Association, Dr Ahimbisibwe Apollo.
In his remarks, Dr. Ahimbisibwe highlighted the importance of football education and encouraged the participants to pay keen attention to three areas; image, marketing and responsibilities.
‘These key areas play a huge role towards the game of football. If the coaches can achieve the listed key areas, then the whole country will move in the right direction of scoring the Hattrick as elaborated in the FUFA Strategic plan under the Future 2021-2025 passed by the 97th General Assembly in Mbale in 2021’ said Dr. Ahimbisibwe.
The week-long workshop was closed on Friday 28th October 2022 at Kyambogo University.

Uganda Hippos will begin their journey to defend the AFCON U20 Zonal qualification title against rivals Tanzania on Saturday evening at Al Hilal Stadium.
The Hippos will be aiming at nothing but beginning on a bright note against their rivals Tanzania.
Since arriving in Sudan on Wednesday, Uganda has conducted three training sessions including the last one with all players eager to prove their worth.
Interim head coach Jackson Mayanja believes the team has prepared well and victory will be on Uganda’s side.
“We have had nice preparations and we want to win our first game against Tanzania,” he started before adding,
“The boys have responded well to training and I have also used my experience as well as my technical staff to tell the boys what they should do. It’s a big game and we expect to win.” He added.
Team skipper Isma Mugulusi is optimistic his experience at this level will be key.
“My teammates are ready and fit for Tanzania. We have adopted to the conditions here and we know it’s not easy but we shall fight together and with my experience here I will work extra hard to ensure we return to the AFCON U20.”
After the clash with Tanzania from group B, the Hippos will rest for six days before playing their second group game against Ethiopia on 5th November at Al Hilal Stadium.

National Enterprise Corporation Football Club (NEC) continued with their perfect start to the new FUFA Big League season after registering a 2-1 win against Ndejje University at Bombo Military Barracks.
The team needed to come from a goal down to overcome the University side.
The hosts scored first when Samuel Ngabo converted from the spot in the 5th minute.
However, NEC found the equaliser through Derrick Sekiranda in the 38th minute before second half substitute Stephen Nyaiga scored the winner in the closing stages.
The win meant NEC maintained their stay at the top of the table on nine points from three games.
At Kigaya Primary School in Hoima, striker Patrick Kaddu extended his scoring spree with a brace against Jinja North United FC.

Edison Matama scored as early as the 4th minute to give the visitors a good start.
However, Kaddu scored from the spot midway the first stanza and added the other just after resumption to take his tally to seven in three games. Edson Agondeze put the icing on the cake.
The result saw Kitara FC remain second on the log with seven points, two behind leaders NEC FC.
At Soroto Municipal Stadium, the visitors of Northern Gateway up a fascinating display to dispatch Soroti City FC 3-0 thanks to goals from Emmanuel Obete, Denis Amut and Stephen Oriokot’s own goal.
In other games, Mbarara City beat Lugazi FC 3-1 courtesy of goals from Henry Kitegenyi, Ibrahim Tembo and Seiri Arigumaho while Police were victorious against Kataka in a 1-0 win.

The FUFA Big League continues this Thursday with matchday three and eight games on the card, two of which are live on FUFA TV.
Kyetume FC play its first season game after the FUFA Assembly allowed them to play in the FUFA Big League. The Nakisunga side has traveled to Yumbe to face Church founded Calvary FC at the Midigo Primary School Play Grounds.
David Mutono the Coach of Kyetume FC is a little worried because his team is playing their first season game but confident that his team can pick positive results from their first game.
‘We are trying to recover psychologically because all hasn’t been well on our side. Many issues are beyond our reach but we shall play our role as the Technical Team and the players we prepare to get the results. I am a bit worried because it is our first game of the season though I have been following up on proceedings thus updated. Like last season, our target is to get promoted to the top flight league.’ Said Coach Mutono.
In another game, Police FC hosts Kataka FC at the Kavumba Recreation Centre in an anticipated tight encounter.
Police FC Coach Angello Lonyesi is confident that his experienced players plus the home advantage will help the Cops register maximum results.
‘I anticipate a tight encounter against Kataka at Kavumba because they are a strong team with experience in the Big League. My role and technical team is to prepare the players and it is what we have done only waiting for the day. My team is composed of both experienced players like Herman Wasswa, Samuel Kayongo and Osman Mutumba plus young players who give us a good composition of a balanced team. We have to utilise the home advantage so that we collect maximum points. All the players are in the best shape except Benon Katerega and Tonny Kiwalazzi who are nursing injuries.’ Said Lonyesi

Uganda Hippos (U20) interim head coach Jackson Mayanja has revealed his final 24-man squad travelling to Sudan ahead of the CECAFA AFCON U20 Zonal Qualifiers from 28th October to 11th November 2022.
The team will be captained by Isma Mugulusi.
Only three players who were part of the 2021 Hippos squad that reached the AFCON U20 finals in Mauritania have made the trip and these are Isma Mugulusi, Wabyoona Faisal and goalie Ssenyondwa Denis.
The team flew out of the country on Wednesday morning aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

Uganda National Beach Soccer Team’s dream of qualifying for the World Cup was extinguished on Monday after suffering a second loss at the ongoing Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Mozambique.
In the final group B game played at Vankulo Arena, Egypt swept aside the Sand Cranes, winning 6-2.
The game was a decider on who takes the second position of the group given the fact that both teams had lost to Senegal who topped the group.
Egypt took the lead though an own goal scored by Ambrose Kigozi before Hossam Salama Ibrahim Hassan scored a brace.
Ismael Bahgat Abdelrazek, Hassane Hussein and Moustafa Shaaban scored the other goals for Egypt.
The consolation goals for Uganda were scored by Baker Lukooya and Brian Nkuubi.
The Sand Cranes will therefore face Malawi in the Classification game on Wednesday to determine the fifth and sixth position.
Angelo Schirinzi, Uganda Sand Cranes coach says Egypt was more superior to his charges.
“Egypt was superior. We have only four players with a very high level, but they were not good today. The learning and lessons remain. I have worked for six weeks with this team and yet I give a positive assessment of our participation in this very well organized competition.” He said.

Ugandan Beach Soccer National Team bagged its first win at the ongoing Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Mozambique after defeating Madagascar on Sunday.
The Sand Cranes needed recovery after losing to Senegal in the opening match of group B to keep hopes of progress alive.
They had to do so in a difficult match against Madagascar and had to to come from down to secure a 6-3 victory.
Four goals from Brian Nkuubi, one from Isma Kawakulo and other from Joshua Letti Lubwama sealed the victory for Uganda Sand Cranes.

Uganda returns to action on Monday for the final Group B game against Egypt at 2.30pm (local time). The winner of this game will join Senegal in progressing to the semifinals.
Uganda Sand Cranes head coach Angelo Schirinzi was happy with the result and now all efforts are focused on overcoming Egypt.
“We knew that against Senegal we would not have any chance of winning so we focused our attention on the games against Madagascar and Egypt. I have been with this team for a fortnight and in South Africa we had a great tournament that allowed us to see what level we are at. We also knew that Madagascar is an opponent that would be within our reach. The focus is now to win against Egypt.”
Nkuubi who had a good day on field insists that each day is a final to them and they will do whatever it takes to win against Egypt.
Uganda Sand Cranes had a false start to the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after suffering defeat to Senegal on Saturday.
This was the first game in group B as Uganda Sand Cranes played the defending Champions Senegal led Uganda in the 3 periods of the game that are played in a duration of 12 minutes per period.
Senegal scored their first goal through Amar Samb in the second minute of the game and Seydina Diagne made it 2-0 before Raoul Mendy scored a brace to send into a 4-0 lead at the end of the first period.
In the second period, Sand Cranes worked collectively to defend the long ball from the Senegal players until the last seconds of the period when Seydina Diagne scored a free style goal.
In the third period Uganda Sand Cranes tried all avenues possible but Senegal looked strong and defensive before Amar Samb added a second goal, and Mamadou Sylla made it 10:1 with a minute left in the third period
Uganda’s only goal which was a consolation was scored by captain Baker Luukooya.

“It wasn’t really a good start for us. We came into this game aware that we would be facing the defending Champions and we also expected to face difficulties and that is realistic. Now we have to think about our next opponents, in this case Madagascar and Egypt. We must beat these opponents to reach the semifinals.” He said.

Action in the FUFA Women Super League resumes this weekend with the 2022/23 entering matchday five. All the ten teams will be in action this Saturday, the biggest game being UCU Lady Cardinals vs Kampala Queens.
The two aforementioned teams come into Saturday’s clash still unbeaten, with Kampala Queens occupying the summit and have garnered maximum points so far. On the other hand, UCU Lady Cardinals’ only blemish came in the one-all draw against Kawempe Muslim Ladies last weekend.
The biggest attraction in this fixture will be on forward Hasifah Nassuna who returns to Mukono for the first time since joining Kampala Queens at the start of the season.

Preparation for the game
We are playing a very important game, playing against the table leaders. We are prepared and hoping to get a good result tomorrow. I am glad that we have had a good start to the season and we hope to keep that going.
Nassuna is a good player and in my view the greatest ever in Uganda, she comes to a game, gets her moments and utilizes them. But we do not go into a game focusing on one player. I believe we have the ability to stop whoever comes to us.
What has helped them to a good start
I think we have played as one unit and all the players have shown full commitment so far. I believe if we keep the same spirit, we will keep garnering points.

I do not think so. We have been able to score in three of the four games played so far. Definitely, we need to improve in terms of creating chances and converting them.

We play as a unit not as individuals. I believe that team work has helped in the games played so far and we shall continue with the same mentality.

If I am to die tomorrow, I would die a happy man. I have been around this game for over 20 years and I know the journey moved so far. The progress is evident and I want to thank whoever has made a contribution.
On conceding almost in every game
It is a big challenge and we have tried to discuss it internally. The goals we have conceded this season are really avoidable and majority have been goalkeeping errors. We hope to improve this area going forward.
Rines winning at the Valley Ground last season
We want to utilize home advantage and win all the games on our ground. They came and won at our home last season but we hope that does not happen again.

We need a win because the recent matches we have only been able to get two points. We hope to bounce back and collect maximum points at home.

On rectifying mistakes
We have not had the best start and the results do not look good so far but our focus is on how we bounce back and we hope to do that in the next game.
About the poor start
I think we have had challenges in defence and that is where our emphasis is going into the game against Kawempe Muslim.
Last season, we faced the similar challenge and only got our first win against Kawempe. We hope the same can happen this time.

We are facing a good team that has experience in the League. We had not had the best of starts but Sunday’s game is going to mark the beginning of a new phase where we can start picking points.
Uganda Hippos (U20) interim head coach Jackson Mayanja has appointed captains ahead of the AFCON Zonal Qualifiers that will take place in Sudan between 28th October to 11th November.
After day 8 morning session at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, the Uganda Cranes legend appointed attacking midfielder Isma Mugulusi as the team captain.

The development means, the now Greece based player takes over Gavin Kizito who led the team to the AFCON U20 Zonal Qualifiers previously in Tanzania before storming the final tournament in Mauritania.
Kizito has since graduated to the U23 (Kobs) as well as the senior Team, Uganda Cranes.

The Hippos are expected to fly out next Wednesday to Sudan in a bid to return to the AFCON U20 tournament next year.
The Uganda Beach Soccer National Team safely touched base in Mozambique ahead of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

The 5th edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Vilankuko from Friday, 21 October to 28 October.
The Sand Cranes are currently accommodated at Archipelago Resort.
The team under the tutorship of Swiss coach Angelo Schrinzi are pooled in group B alongside defending Champions Senegal, Egypt and Madagascar.
This is the Uganda’s second appearance at the continental showpiece. In the previous edition held in Senegal, Uganda reached the semifinals on their debut.

The FUFA Big League returns this Thursday with seven encounters on card. The biggest game of matchday two is the Bunyoro Derby between Masindi based Booma FC and Hoima based Kitara FC.
The game has already gathered hype around it and what is now left is for it to live up to the billing.
Booma who are new in the FUFA Big League had a false start last week, losing 3-1 to Mbarara City FC.
Kitara FC on the other hand humbled Northern Gateway 4-0 to go top of the FUFA Big League table after matchday one.
Fred Alinaitwe who is the coach of Booma FC believes they have what it takes to humble their nemesis.
“We lost our first game against Mbarara City but that is behind us now. I told my players that we still have a long way to go. Our next game against Kitara is a tight one because it is a regional derby. We know everything about them and they also know much about us. They are a good team with experienced players but weren’t afraid to take them on. I have done my job as a coach it is now up to the boys to execute.” He said.
On the other hand, Mark Twinamatsiko is convinced Kitaara FC Mark Twinamatsiko his troops will be going for maximum points.
“We won our first game but it was against newcomers, I warned my players against complacency because we still have a long way to go. The game against Booma is like any other games only that it is a derby and we shall go aiming for maximum points because each match and points count. All my players are in the best shape and thus well prepared for the game.”
In other games, NEC FC host Police FC in Bugolobi, Karo Karungi welcomes Soroti City to Ibanda, Northern Gateway entertains Luweero United in Lira, Jinja North United plays Mbarara City at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Lugazi FC face Ndejje University while Kataka FC plays their first season game against Calvary FC at the FUFA Technical Centre.
