    FUFA By-Elections: Electoral Committee sets dates for regional, provincial and zonal polls

    The FUFA Electoral Committee has confirmed dates for the Regional Football Association Executive Committee elections together with those for the Province and Zonal Football Association Executive Committees for the 2025–2029 term.

    The communication was issued in line with the FUFA Electoral Code and the FUFA Electoral Guidelines.

    It followed a sitting of the Electoral Committee held on Monday 24th November 2025 where several decisions guiding the electoral process were passed.

    According to the Circular, the Kitara Region Football Association Executive Committee elections will take place in Hoima City at Tik Hotel on Tuesday 25th November 2025 starting at 9.00 am.

    The Northern Region Football Association Executive Committee elections will be held in Lira at Grand Pacific Hotel on Wednesday 26th November 2025 starting at 9.00 am.

    Elections for the Province and Zonal Football Associations will also be conducted on Wednesday 26th November 2025.

    The Busoga Province Football Association will vote in Iganga at Sol View Hotel starting at 9.00 am.

    The Tooro Province Football Association election will be conducted in Fort Portal City at DAJ Guest House starting at 11.00 am.

    The Buganda Zone I Football Association election will take place in Mukono at City Side Hotel starting at 9.00 am.

    The FUFA Electoral Committee has released a list of winners and candidates for various positions at the regional, provincial and zonal levels.
    The announcement was made in accordance with the FUFA Electoral Code and the FUFA Electoral Guidelines.
    The EC convened on Friday 21st November 2025 and passed several decisions guiding the ongoing electoral process across Regional, Provincial and Zonal football structures.

    FUFA Polls 2025: Election of the Province Football Associations Executive Committees

    The FUFA Executive Committee has provided guidelines with reference to Article 10(4) of the FUFA Statutes regarding the elections of the Province/Zonal Executive Committees.

    General Terms

    1)           The FUFA Regional Football Associations of Kampala and West Nile will not conduct elections for the Province Football Associations (PFA)

    2)           Sebei and Karamoja FUFA Provinces will not conduct elections for the Province Football Associations (PFA)

    3)           Buganda Regional Football Association will conduct elections for Zonal Football Association (ZFA) as guided by these guidelines

    Elective General Assemblies

    4)           The Elective Assembly for this election shall be composed differently per Province and Zone.

    5)           The composition of the elective Assemblies of the four (4) zones of Buganda RFA shall be as follows:

    1.           1 delegate from each 4th Division Club

    2.           The 3 DFA delegates to the Buganda Regional Football Association

    6)           The composition of the elective Assemblies of the FUFA Provinces listed below:

    a)           Acholi Province Football Association

    b)           Ankole Province Football Association

    c)           Bugisu Province Football Association

    d)           Bukedi Province Football Association

    e)           Bunyoro Province Football Association

    f)            Busoga Province Football Association

    g)           Kigezi Province Football Association

    FUFA Polls 2025: Nominations Open for office of FUFA President

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Electoral Committee has officially opened nominations for the position of FUFA President and Executive for the 2025-2029 term. This significant development follows the successful completion of elections at the Regional Football Associations, Big League, National Women Leagues and Special Interest Groups levels.

    The FUFA Elective Assembly, where the President and Executive will be elected, is scheduled for 5th July 2025, in Hoima City. The electoral process will be governed by the FUFA Statutes, FUFA Electoral Code, FUFA guidelines and circulars.


    The FUFA Electoral Committee has also confirmed that the electoral process for this exercise starts with Members of FUFA proposing candidates for office of the FUFA President as per article 40(2) of the FUFA Statutes two months before the elective date.


    According to a circular signed off by the FUFA Electoral Committee Chairman, Mathias Bwire, the interested candidates for the position of the FUFA President will need to follow the key timelines set as below;


    Interested individuals for the position of FUFA President must submit their nominations by 24th May 2025, by 23:59 hours, accompanied by the required documents;

    • Nomination letters from a 1st Division Club, Special Interest Group, and Regional Football Association
    • Certified copy of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or equivalent
    • FAMACO II Certificate
    • Proof of nomination fee payment of UGX 10,000,000
    • List of proposed Executive Committee members

    This marks a crucial step towards shaping the future of Ugandan football for the period 2025-2029

    Election of FUFA 3rd Vice President set for 17th May 2025

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Electoral Committee has officially called for nominations for the position of FUFA 3rd Vice President.

    The election for the FUFA 3rd Vice President position is scheduled for 17th May 2025, at 10:00 hours at the FUFA Complex-Mengo.

    Aspiring candidates have until 5th May, 2025, at 23:59 hours to submit their nominations.

    According to communication form the FUFA Electoral Committee to be eligible, candidates must secure a nomination letter from a 1st Division Club participating in the 2024/2025 season.

    only candidates who have met the necessary requirements and been vetted by the FUFA Electoral Committee will be eligible to participate in the election or be declared unopposed. Both 1st and 2nd Division League Clubs from the 2024/2025 season will participate in the election.

    FUFA Electoral Committee Releases list of delegates to FUFA Assembly 2025-2029

    The FUFA Electoral Committee has today declared and released a list of 69 duly elected delegates to the FUFA General Assembly for the 2025-2029 term. These elections were conducted countrywide at the Regional Football Associations level, Big League, National Women Leagues and Special Interest Groups.

    The FUFA General Assembly comprises 88 delegates but the Uganda Premier League clubs will each send a delegate to complete the Assembly.


    Meanwhile, due to a petition from a nominated candidate, the electoral exercise in the North East (Teso region) was postponed by the FUFA Electoral Committee. A new date will be communicated for the election of the remaining three delegates to the FUFA Assembly.


    The FUFA Electoral Committee has also confirmed that the electoral process will continue with Members of FUFA proposing candidates for the office of the FUFA President as per article 40(2) of the FUFA Statutes.

    The FUFA General Assembly will be held on 5th July 2025 in Hoima.

    Clarification on elections of delegates from Regional FAs and Special Interest Groups to FUFA General Assembly

    The FUFA) Executive Committee has issued clarification on the election process for delegates to the FUFA General Assembly with reference to Article 23 of the FUFA Statutes and Article 3 of the FUFA Electoral Guidelines by outlining specific guidelines for the election of Delegates to the FUFA General Assembly:

    1. One (1) of the six (6) delegates from each of the Regional Football Associations shall be elected by and shall represent the 3rd Division League Clubs.
    2. Five (5) of the six (6) delegates from each of the Regional Football Associations shall be elected by and shall represent the 4th Division League Clubs.
    3. At least One (1) of the six (6) delegates from each of the Regional Football Associations shall be a woman.
    4. Of the six (6) Delegates from each of the Regional Football Associations, there shall be at least one (1) delegate from each of the constituent Province Football Associations.
    5. The election for the Delegate to represent the 3rd Division League Clubs shall be elected 1st and then other 5 delegates elected next . In addition to the general provisions outlined above, herein below are the specific guidelines

    A. Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA)

    1. The ERFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly as follows:

    1. The WRFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly as follows:

    4. Only two additional (2) delegates shall be elected from the Zone where the delegate to
      represent the 3rd Division League Clubs is elected from

    D. Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA)

    1. The NRFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly as follows:

    4. Only two additional (2) delegates shall be elected from the Zone where the delegate to

    E. Kampala Regional Football Association (KRFA)

    1. For KRFA, the order of elections shall be as follows:
      a. Delegate Representing 3rd Division League Clubs
      b. Woman Delegate
      c. 4 Delegates Representing 4th Division Clubs
    2. The KRFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly as follows:
    3. Kampala Central District Football Association (1 Delegate)
    4. Kawempe District Football Association (1 Delegate)
    5. Makindye District Football Association (1 Delegate)
    6. Nakawa District Football Association (1 Delegate)
    7. Rubaga District Football Association (1 Delegate)
    8. 3rd Division League Clubs (1 Delegate)
    9. No additional delegate shall be elected from the District Football Association where the
      woman delegate is elected from

    F. Buganda Regional Football Association (BRFA)

    1. The BRFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly as follows:

    G. West Nile Regional Football Association (WNRFA)
    The WNRFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly

    H. North Eastern Regional Football Association (NERFA)
    The NERFA shall elect 6 delegates to the FUFA General Assembly

    Special Interest Groups
    ONLY delegates representing RFAs shall be eligible to vote and be voted as Delegates of the
    Uganda Women Football Association to the FUFA General Assembly.
    Whereas FUFA registered players for 2024/25 season and active referees are eligible to
    vote for their representatives, they are not eligible to be voted.

    Nomination of Candidates for the FUFA General Assembly 2025-2029

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations Electoral Committee (FUFA EC) has issued a schedule of events and guidelines to the nomination of candidates for the 2025-2029 FUFA General Assembly elections. The polling day for all the elections to the FUFA General Assembly shall be from 29th to 30th April 2025.

    In accordance with Art. 10 par 1 of the FUFA Electoral Code, the FUFA EC has released the key dates of electoral events for the nomination and election of upcoming delegates to the FUFA Assembly from; the FUFA Regional Football Associations (RFAs), FUFA Big League (FBL), FUFA National Women Football Leagues (NWFL), Regional Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and National Special Interest Groups. The key dates and guidelines are as follows;

    FUFA Electoral guiding documents
    The following documents; FUFA Statutes, FUFA Electoral Code, FUFA Electoral Guidelines and circulars shall govern the electoral process of all Regional Football Associations, leagues and Special Interest Groups. The above-mentioned documents can easily be accessible at https://fufauganda.com/fufa-ec-docs/

    1. Register of all Club Officials
      The register of the Delegates from the DFAs to the respective RFA SIGs, Officials of the FBL Clubs, NWFL Clubs, 3rd Division League Clubs, Regional Women League Clubs, FUFA Registered Football Academies and the list of Delegates from the DFAs to the respective RFA Assemblies shall be uploaded on the FUFA Website https://fufauganda.com/fufa-ec-docs/ and can easily be accessible by 10th April 2025.
      The football stakeholders can also access the register at the respective Regional Football Association offices.
      All eligible persons who wish to participate in these elections have up to 2359 Hours on 12th April 2025 to verify and update their respective particulars in the register.
    2. FUFA Electoral Officers
      The FUFA EC has appointed Electoral Officers for the different election and their details can be accessed at https://fufauganda.com/fufa-ec-docs/.
      Football stakeholders are encouraged to contact the electoral officers for any assistance.
      The FUFA EC Regional Offices shall be located at the FUFA Regional Football Association headquarters of the respective RFA and in case of any variation of the location, the FUFA EC shall communicate accordingly.
    3. Nomination of candidates
      The process of the nomination of candidates for the elections shall be in accordance with annex-1 attached to this circular.
      ONLY duly filled forms accompanied with proof of payment and returned by the intending candidate in person shall be accepted by the FUFA EC.

    The FUFA Electoral Committee has released the list of venues for elections of the District Football Associations (DFAs) on Sunday, 6th April 2025 across various districts and the 8 FUFA regions.

    The FUFA Electoral Committee has announced that elections for the District Football Associations (DFAs) will take place this Sunday, April 6th, 2025, across various districts and the 8 FUFA regions.

    The DFA elections will usher in new leaders to oversee district football affairs and elect representatives to the Regional Football Associations for the term 2025-2029. The positions up for election include District Delegates to the Region and Special Interest Groups (Referees, Players, Coaches and Schools).

    During a press conference held on Friday, April 4th, 2025, at FUFA House, FUFA Electoral Committee Chairman Mr. Bwire Mathias confirmed the completion of the nomination process and the confirmation of the list of candidates ahead of the polls.

    Bwire was accompanied by Electoral Committee Member Salim Katumba and FUFA Legal Manager Denis Lukambi, who represented the FUFA CEO.

    ‘We are ready for the polling exercise starting this weekend. Our records indicate that some District Football Associations have unopposed candidates after a thorough verification and nomination process for different positions and will be declared winners. However, elections will only be conducted where there is competition to decide the delegates to the Regional Assembly’ said Bwire.

    FUFA Polls 2025: EC announces commencement of the FUFA Electoral Process

    FUFA Electoral Committee announces Electoral Process for District Football Associations

     The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Electoral Committee has announced the electoral process and timelines for the upcoming District Football Associations (DFAs) elections.

    The DFA elections, which are scheduled to take place on April 6, 2025, will see new leaders elected to manage the affairs of the DFAs and representatives to the 8 Regional Football Associations for the period 2025-2029.

     The electoral process will involve several stages, including;  

    Display of register of Club Officials: FUFA Electoral Committee announced that a register of all Club officials is available on the FUFA website.

    Eligible persons have until March 24, 2025, to verify and update their particulars.

    Nomination of Candidates: Nomination forms will be available for download from the FUFA website from March 25 to March 28, 2025. Completed forms must be returned by March 30, 2025.

    Verification of Candidate Qualifications: The FUFA Electoral Committee will verify the qualifications of all intending candidates to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.

    Electoral Officers: The FUFA Electoral Committee has appointed and trained Electoral Officers to support the Committee to execute its mandate in accordance with the FUFA Statutes, FUFA Electoral Code and FUFA Electoral Guidelines.

    Electoral Officers undergo Civic education training

    The Civic education by the FUFA Electoral Committee for Electoral Officers in FUFA’s eight regions has kicked off today in four venues around the country.

    The exercise is conducted by members of the FUFA Electoral Committee and it is spearheaded by the Chairman Mathias Bwire.

    Today’s training rolled off in the morning with Buganda and Kampala regions combining for their session at Jevine Hotel in Lubaga, Eastern Region were at the Islamic University in Uganda-Mbale, Western region in Mbarara at Acacia Hotel while West Nile region at Tropical Suites in Arua.

    The exercise will continue on Thursday (Lira, Fort Portal and Masindi) and on Friday (Soroti).

     The Electoral officers will play a vital role in assisting the FUFA Electoral Committee during the elections right form the grassroots(districts), Regions to the National level.

    The civic education and training programme is essential in ensuring the Electoral Officers are knowledgeable about the electoral process, including aspects like voter registration, nomination of candidates and the polling process.

    The sessions will take place across the different regional associations from 12th-14th March 2025.

    FUFA Elections will be held this year in July as per the FUFA Statutes.

    Jevine Hotel in Lubaga hosted both Kampala and Buganda Region Football Associations. The exercise was conducted by Richard Remulika Mpaka.

    Western Region Football Association: Training of Electoral Officers was in Mbarara at Acacia Hotel and conducted by FUFA Electoral Committee Member Salim Katumba

    The Islamic University in Uganda- Main Campus-Mbale hosted the Eastern Region Football Association training of Electoral Officers. The chairman FUFA electoral Committee Mathias Bwire was in charge of the exercise.

    The FUFA Electoral Committee is gearing up for the 2025 FUFA elections and a crucial step in this process is conducting civic education for Electoral Officers. The officers will play a vital role in assisting the FUFA Electoral Committee during the elections right form the grassroots(districts), Regions to the National level.

    The journey began on 28th February 2025 when the FUFA Electoral Committee held its first meeting, marking the commencement of the 2025 election process. One of the key resolutions from this meeting was the appointment of the Electoral Officers, who were selected after a rigorous application and vetting process.

    To ensure these Electoral Officers are well equipped for their responsibilities, the FUFA Electoral Committee has organised training sessions on the electoral process. The sessions will take place across the different regional associations from 12th-14th March 2025.

    The civic education and training programme is essential in ensuring the Electoral Officers are knowledgeable about the electoral process, including aspects like voter registration, nomination of candidates and the polling process.

    The Chairman of the FUFA Electoral Committee Mathias Bwiire confirmed the communication and its importance.

    ‘By empowering the Electoral Officers, the FUFA Electoral Committee is taking significant steps towards conducting free and fair elections. The FUFA Electoral Committee put out an advertisement calling for applications from interested persons. Subsequently, the applications were vetted and the successful applicants selected to work as Electoral Officers.’

    FUFA Elections will be held this year in July as per the FUFA Statutes.

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has issued a Notice to all stakeholders for the 101st FUFA Ordinary General Assembly to be held in Hoima, City. The notice was confirmed by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.

    ‘Notice is hereby given to all FUFA members and stakeholders that the 101st FUFA Elective General Assembly will be held on Saturday 5th July 2025, in Hoima City-Kitara Region, starting at 9:30am. The 101st FUFA Ordinary General Assembly date was scheduled by the 33rd FUFA Executive Committee meeting, which sat on 24th February, 2025, at FUFA House. The Assembly will be conducted in accordance with the FUFA Statutes and the election of the FUFA Executive Committee for the 2025 – 2029 term on the agenda’
