    Uganda Cranes regional tours: Eastern region names 18 man team

    UGANDA CRANES REGIONAL TOURS:

    The Eastern region team to face Uganda Cranes in the national regional tours has been named.

    The team is coached by current Kirinya-Jinja S.S head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko.

    The national regional tours 2017 were officially launched at FUFA House on Wednesday.

    These tours have been held since 2014, traversing the entire country with the main objective among others taking the national team closer to the masses.

    The regional tours are jointly sponsored by Nile Breweries Limited and Airtel Uganda as coordinated by Kibo Media.

    FUFA Women’s Cup: Quarter finals draw conducted

    The draws for the 2017 quarter finals of the inaugural FUFA Women’s Cup were held on Wednesday at FUFA House, Mengo in Kampala.

    Ali Mwebe, the FUFA Competitions Director supervised the draws that witnessed Western United and Olila High school the seeded teams because of geographical location.

    ‘We seeded Western United and Olila High because of geographical location so the two clubs could not face off at the quarter final stage’ Mwebe explained.

    Western United was drawn first to host UCU Lady Cardinals in Mbarare, Gafford Ladies face She Corporate, Mutesa 1 Royal University takes on Kawempe Muslim as Taggy High entertains Olila High in Entebbe at Katabi Gombolola play ground.

    The quarter finals are expected to be played on the weekend of 25th and 26th March 2017.

    The finals of this year’s women cup will take place in Busia.

    2017 FUFA Corporate tournament officially launched

    FUFA CORPORATE TOURNAMENT 2017

    3rd edition – 29th April – At Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo

    The third edition of the FUFA Corporate Tournament (FTC) has been launched on Wednesday.

    This was during the weekly press conference at the FUFA House House in Mengo, Kampala.

    FUFA Marketing director Esther Musoke highlighted to the media the essence of this annual football tournament.

    We shall hold the 3rd edition of the FUFA Corporate Tournament under the theme; ‘Football for health’ with the main aim among others intended to promote close partnerships in the corporate world.

    Registration is Ug.shs 1.5M per team of 17 players and three officials.

    The Corporate companies shall be allowed to conduct their own activations at Lugogo for the period of the tournament.

    15 corporate companies have already confirmed to take part.

    The tournament guidelines will be passed on accordinglyto the teams. Deadine for registartion is 17th April.

    National Water and Sewerage Corporation is the defending champion.

    Competitions: Draw for Uganda Cup, FUFA Women’s Cup to be conducted on Wednesday

    FUFA Competitions Department will conduct the draw for the FUFA Uganda Cup and FUFA Women’s Cup on Wednesday (10am) at FUFA House during teh weekly press conference. The draw for men is for teams at the round of 16 while the FUFA Wowmen’s Cup is at the Quarterfinals Stage.

    THe FUFA Women’s Cup is being played for the first time while the FUFA Uganda Cup has Vipers are the holders.

    The final of the FUFA Women’s cup will be hosted in Busia while Arua won the rights for the FUFA Uganda Cup final.

    FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe and Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein will guide with the process of the draw.

    FUFA delivers message of hope to Inmates at Upper Prison, Luzira

    On Sunday, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) officials and Ex- Uganda Cranes internationals paid a courtesy visit to the Luzira Upper prisons in Kampala.

    Hours after arrival from Morocco on Sunday morning, the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo led the strong delegation to Luzira.

    He was accompanied by the 2nd FUFA Vice President Darius Mugoye,  FUFA Marketing Director Esther Musoke, Communications director Ahmed Hussein, national teams’ Officer Patrick Ntege Kaweesa as they were also joined by a group of Ex-Uganda Cranes internationals under the Uganda Football Players Association (UFPA) one of the 33 members of FUFA.

    The programme is part of the federation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cause.

    Addressing the inmates, the FUFA President noted that the federation remains committed to the cause of spreading and taking the beautiful game to the communities, inmates inclusive.

    The unique power of football has brought us this close.

    I am humbled to be here for the first time as a visitor.

    FUFA is committed to associating with every kind of communities for the development of the game

    Eng Magogo observed with concern the immense talent (players, referees and administrators) that some of the inmates are endowed with.

    There are quite a number of young and energetic talented players who can serve in different clubs after completing your sentences.

    Donated Items:

    FUFA donated an assortment of items to further help in the development of the game at the Luzira Upper Prisons.

    These included a trophy that will be competed for every year by the different prison teams,  footballs, refereeing equipment, 50 cartons of White Star Magic Soap from Bidco Uganda Limited and a computer to harness administrative work.

    In return, the inmates also offered some of their beautiful artifacts to the visiting FUFA officials.

    FUFA Cup of Hope Tournament:

    In the same vein, there will be annual tournament named the ‘FUFA Cup of Hope’ with a glittering giant trophy to be competed for amongst all the participating teams within the Prisons service.

    In his address, Andrew Nsamba, the Chairperson of the Upper Prison Sports Association (UPSA), he appreciated the historic visit by the FUFA delegation.

    Since 1948 when Luzira was officially opened, we had never received any guest from FUFA. We are also humbled by this visit.

    We plan to switch back to the naming of our own teams to have tags of the domestic clubs currently playing in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

    Nsamba remarked that internal competitions among these clubs is a way of entertainment and psycho-social well being of inmates and enhancing staff inmate relationship.

    He intimated some of their challenges ranging from limited resources like balls, jerseys, referees equipment, lapse in continuity of their various programmes to missing computer.

    Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Hakim ‘Boda Boda’ Magumba produced the old magical skills against the Upper Prisons Stars. He wrapped up the great performance with a brilliant solo goal

    There was excitement as the inmates were engaged in a football match against the Uganda Cranes Ex-Internationals.

    The game ended in a 2 all stalemate with Edward Kalungi and the ever exciting Hakim ‘Boda Boda’ Magumba scoring for the former Uganda Cranes players.

    Former Uganda Cranes, Lukuli United, Police, Express and SC Villa intelligent forward Hassan ‘Figo’ Mubiru was a joy to watch at Luzira

    Other Ex-Internationals as goalkeeper Sadiq Wassa, Hassan Mubiru, Ayub Balyejusa, Ali Kitonsa, Paul Mutakabala, Simeon ‘Biri Etambuula’ Masaba also featured in well cheered match.

    The FUFA President also graced the field of play in the latter stages of the game after coming on for Kitonsa, much to the applause of the mammoth crowd that lauded his inch-close ball control, ball protection technique and passing finesse throughout the 10 minutes he featured in.

    FUFA has previously conducted CSR projects in Kisenyi with the Missionaries of the Poor NGO and Nakasongola Health Center IV.

    Many similar programmes are planned for the benefit of the local communities.

    Vipers 1-0 Platinum Stars

    Milton Karisa, a midseason signing from BUL FC made his mark in the CAF Confederation Cup when he scored an important and historic goal on the day Vipers SC opened their new stadium-St Mary’s in Kitende on Saturday. Vipers edged South African side Platinum Stars 1-0 and will carry an advantage into the return leg next weekend.

    Halftime ended goalless at a match that saw the capacity crowd very expectant due to the ambiance surrounding the tie.

    Vipers SC will be hoping for lady luck again while playing away having knocked out Moroni of Comoros on away goals rule following a 1-1 draw in the preliminary round.

    With the stakes high for the return leg, Vipers will leave no stone unturned to gain access on sporting merit into the net round of the competition.

    Meanwhile KCCA FC will return later today from South Africa where they fell 2-1 to African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.

    FUFA –Morocco FA sign bilateral agreement to co-operate in areas of technical exchange

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Eng. Moses Magogo has signed a long term pact with Morocco FA in a bid to improve the technical areas of Ugandan football.

    Eng. Magogo who is in the North African country on official duties, met with Morocco FA President Mr. Lekjaa Fouzi where bilateral talks were held in relation to football for both soccer power houses in their respective regions.

    The key areas to be covered by the partnership include exchange programmes of technical and administrative staff, hosting of national and club teams from either country by the other, training camps, sharing football knowledge, best practices and experiences.

    ‘It is our strategy to create as many partnerships and relationships as possible for the betterment of our game. It is another milestone to have the Federal Republic of Morocco Football Association as our development partners and I am definitely excited’ said FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

    With local football regaining its footing in the past three years, FUFA is convinced such partnerships will lead the country to the Promised Land with the 2019 Cameroon Project already in the offing.

    ‘Our next move with this partnership is to take a delegation of football stakeholders to Morocco to understand how Government, Federation and Corporate sponsors are undertaking massive infrastructure development. It is amazing work going on in Morocco’ added Magogo.

    During Magogo’s reign the Uganda Cranes have been able to go back to the AFCON for the first time in 39 years and such partnerships can only cement such football moments.

    Kataka FC 2-0 Sun City

    Kira Utd 3-1 Sporting United

    Moroto United, Artland Katale, Kataka and Kira United were all different winners in the FUFA Big League.

    On Wednesday, Kira United were 3-1 winners over Sporting United at the Kira Town Council play ground while Moroto United edged Busia Fisheries 4-3 in a game that produced 7 goals.

    Mbale based side Kataka defeated Sun City from Kasese to further brighten their chances of surviving relegation. Aziz Mafuko and Amanya the scorers.

    Elsewhere, Swaibu Lubega scored for Artland Katale who registered a slim 1-0 result against Kyambogo in Kamuli.

    The FUFA Big League will resume on Thursday with 5 matches.

     

    Three clubs shall be promoted to the Azam Uganda Premier League next season from the FUFA Big League.

    The Azan Uganda Premier League returned with four matches for match day 20 played on Tuesday at the different venues.

    Proline Football Club won convincingly 4-2 against Jinja Municipal Council Hippos at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

    Daniel Isiagi scored a brace with  Nelson Senkatuka and David Owori scoring the other goals for Mujid Kasule’s coached side.

    URA was the other winning side on the day, requiring a late winner from Labama Bokota against Sadolin Paints at the Mandela National Stadium.

    The Jinja derby between BUL and Kirinya Jinja S.S ended goal-less at Kakindu Stadium.

    At the Betway Stadium in Arua, home side Onduparaka and Bright Stars ended score-less with the visiting goalie Nicholas Ssebwato on tip top form.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo has sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa upon completion of the construction of St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende. Mulindwa is the owner of Vipers SC and also former FUFA President who served for 8 years from 2005-2013. He is now the Honorary President of FUFA-a title bestowed unto him during the FUFA Assembly in 2013.

    Vipers and the Azam Uganda Premier League reigning champions, KCCA registered away victories on Friday.

    Striker Geofrey Sserunkuma scored KCCA’s lone strike in the 1-0 victory against The Saints at the Champions stadium.

    It was the 12th goal of the season for the current league top scorer, who was also part of Uganda Cranes 23 man team at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

    Vipers rallied from a goal down to defeat BUL at the Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.

    Villa Oromchan scored the opener for the home side in the 38th minute.

    Former Jinja Municipal Council left back, Aggrey Madoi equalized for Vipers through a penalty converted in the 57th minute.

    Midfielder Brian Nkuubi then scored a late winner for the visiting club.

    The league resumes on Saturday with two games. Proline hosts SC Villa at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo and Sadolin Paints will entertain Bright Stars at the Mandel National Stadium, Namboole.

    KCCA still leads the 16 team log with 41 points from 18 games played. They are followed by SC Villa in the second place with 37 points from 19 games.

    Project Cameroon 2019: Micho happy with the technical programme for Uganda Cranes

    Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has said that he is happy with the preliminary programme for the National team in preparation for the start of the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers in line with the ‘Cameroon Project 2019’.

    Uganda will open its campaign against Cape Verde away in June but Micho says that he has a good plan for the initial stages of the campaign.

    Uganda Cranes will play a regional tour match against Eastern region select team on 18th March in Kamuli.

    ‘The regional tour match will help me assess a set of players for the international friendly that we shall play a week later in Nairobi’ said Micho
    ‘FUFA has agreed with FKF to play an international friendly match between  national senior football teams of Kenya and Uganda on Wendsday 22nd March 2017’ added Micho

    He further said ‘All above will culminate into an international friendly match between Uganda Cranes against French Military National team at Namboole to be played on 25th March 2017’

    Continental soccer governing body CAF has approved St Mary’s stadium in Kitende. In a communication from CAF Club Licensing Manager in the Competitions Department signed by Ahmed Harraz, part of the letter read;

    ‘Kindly be informed that CAF has approved the St Mary’s Stadium and you can now select as a venue for your matches’

    The clearance comes after CAF inspector Nicholas Musonye was sent to Uganda on Tuesday to come up with a final report which was based on before the CAF Club Licensing Committee came up with the approval.

    Reigning Champions Kawempe Muslim SS Women FC continued with their rich vein in form defeating London Stallions 10-0 to remain unbeaten this season. They hve won all their 7 outings so far.

    FUFA player of the yer Hasifah Nasuuna netted 4 goals while Yudaya Nakayenze, Juliet Nalukenge and Fvaour Nambatya got two goals each.

    Sunday Game: SC Villa Vs Sadolin Paints – Nakivubo Stadium.

    Teenager Allan Okello scored the first hat-trick of the 2016/17 Azam Uganda Premier League as KCCA football Club defeated Onduparaka 7-0 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

    A brace from Robert Sentongo and further goals from Paul Musamali and Geoffrey Sserunkuma completed the rout for KCCA F.C.

    This was the heaviest defeat Onduparaka suffered since being promoted to the top flight league last season.

    In Jinja, at the Kakindu Stadium, Jinja Municipal Council Hippos and Lweza played to a one all draw.

    Herbert Odipio scored the opening goal in the 45th minute for the home side before John Kisakye brought the game level.

    On Sunday, there is only one game at Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala when 16 time league champions, SC Villa entertains Sadolin Paints, another Jinja based team (Sadolin Paints host their home games at Namboole after switching from Bugembe which is under renovation at the start of second round).

    Meanwhile, Vipers Sports Club has requested the league committee that their next league match  on the 28th February 2017 against JMC Hippos to be played at Namboole.

    The request was granted.

    The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga hosted the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino during a breakfast meeting held at Addis Hall, Kampala Serena International Hotel.

    The break fast meeting was attended by the Uganda Cranes sponsors and all the FUFA Partners – Airtel Uganda, Nile Breweries Limited, National Insurance Corporation and Eco Bank.

    Hon. Kadaga recounted the fond memories she had with the Uganda Cranes in Gabon during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament and vowed to support  Uganda Cranes and FUFA at all times.

    “I welcome Mr Gianni Infantino the President of FIFA. It is a big honour to host you here. Our national team, the Uganda Cranes did wonders when they beat Comoros last year to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. I was so excited when i heard all the three stanzas of the Uganda National Anthem being played in Port Gentil. As the national parliament, we are ready and willing to support the Uganda Cranes and FUFA in all their programmes” Hon. Kadaga stated.

    The FIFA President, who was marking the second day of his visit to Uganda appreciated the internal organization of FUFA.

    “At FIFA, we are monitoring closely all the activities for the 211 member associations, Uganda inclusive. We are humbled and excited about the work being done by FUFA. They are a model association and please keep it up.”Infantino noted.

    Uganda Cranes technical team led by the head coach, Milutin Sredejovic also graced the Breakfast meeting.

    From Serena, Infantino met the football delegates, club chairmen and the special interest groups at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

    He singled out  and praised the respective duties executed to perfection by the delegates and club chairmen towards developing football.

    After the Africana meetings, he proceeded to the Phillip Omondi Stadium where he watched the Lweza Oranje Brigade battle KCCA Soccer Academy in the FUFA U-17 league.

    He also talked to the Current and Ex-Uganda Cranes internationals, young, active and retired referees and also, applauded their work.

    Infantino graced the official ground breaking of the Kadiba Ground in Rubaga, conducted a guided tour around FUFA House, was hosted on 102.1 FUFA f.m before he addressed the media at Ivy’s Hotel in Wakaliga.

    The FIFA President Gianni Infantino has on Friday evening arrived in Uganda as he started a two day official visit.

    Infantino arrived at Entebbe International Airport at 7:50 p.m aboard a private flight.

    He was received at Entebbe by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo who was accompanied by the first Vice President Justus Mugisha, second V.P Darius Mugoye, Executive committee members Agnes Mugena and Hamid Juma, Deputy CEO Humprephy Mandu, the Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredejovic and the FUFA communications manager Ahmed Hussein.

    Moments later, Infantino was led to Entebbe State House where he met the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

    At State House, they were joined by the State Minister of Sports Hon. Charles Bakabulindi, Commissioner of Sports Marex Omara Apitta as they met the head of state.

    President Museveni expressed delight upon meeting the world’s football boss.

    As the two engaged in a lively discussion, president Museveni hinted of the Government’s commitment to serve sports, football in particular.

    He also appreciated the work of the reigning FUFA administration.

    “I am happy for the work of the FUFA President and your management. I am also happy for Uganda Cranes having qualified for the Africa cup of Nations tournament. I also managed to watch two Uganda Cranes matches on TV” President Museveni noted.

    Eng. Magogo appreciated the historic visit for the FIFA President, the first of any seating world football boss in over 118 years.

    ”FUFA and Uganda, we are honored for the visit of Gianni Infantino to Uganda. This is a milestone and a huge step forward for Uganda’s football. Like he has expressed, he is ready to share the developmental football ideas and programmes that will not only benefit Uganda and CECAFA as a region but also the entire African continent” Eng. Magogo noted.

    Later on Friday night, the FIFA President met with the FUFA Executive Committee at Kampala Serena International Hotel as they discussed issues concerning football development.

    On Saturday, there is a breakfast meeting at Serena Hotel where he is set to meet the different stake holders of the game -sponsors and FUFA partners.

    He will then move to Hotel Africana for a meeting with Azam Uganda Premier League Chairmen, Ex-Internationals before going to Lugogo where he will watch a FUFA Juniors league match between KCCA Soccer Academy and Lweza Orange Brigade.

    He will officiate at the ground breaking ceremony at the Kadiba play ground in Rubaga before a guided tour around the FUFA Headquarters at Mengo before visiting the federation radio station, 102.1 FUFA f.m.

    There is a planned press conference where he will address the media at Sojovalo Hotel in Kampala.

    All is set for the historic visit of the FIFA President Gianni Infantino to the Pearl of Africa on Friday.
    The FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu revealed the full programme at the FUFA weekly press conference held on Wednesday morning at FUFA House, Mengo.

    Infatino will jet in on 24th February at 6pm and will be received by government dignitaries together with
    FUFA Officials at Entebbe International Airport.
    He will head to State House Entebbe to meet HE the President of the Republic Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Education and Sports minister Hon. Janet Museveni together with government officials .
    The day will close with the FIFA President meeting the FUFA Executive Committee at 9pm.
    Saturday will kickoff at 7 am with a breakfast meeting with sponsors, partners, opinion leaders, government officials and other invited guests at Serena Hotel, Kampala.
    The Deputy CEO of FUFA Mandu is confident the visit of FIFA President will leave an indelible mark on local football.

    ‘We are laying foundation for the future generation. The discussions between Government officials and FIFA President will help in taking the game of football to another level’ said Mandu.

    ‘The meeting with HE will drive the game forward for the future generation. We know how much HE loves football and a meeting with FIFA President will give him chance to discuss about football development projects in Uganda’ added Mandu.

    The FIFA President will switch to Hotel Africana where he will meet with the delegates of the FUFA Assembly and Special Interest groups at 8 am.
    He will also meet Azam Uganda Premier League Club chairpersons together with FUFA members, Ex Internationals and active players plus FIFA retired and active referees.

    On that same day Infantino will watch a FUFA Juniors League U-17 match between KCCA SA and Lweza Orange Brigade.

    ‘He loves football at all levels. We have lined up an activity involving youth football on Saturday. FIFA has supported various football programmes in Uganda’ said Mandu.

    He will wind up the day’s programme with a visit the ground breaking ceremony at Kadiba football grounds in Rubaga, head to FUFA House and later hold a press conference at Ivy’s Hotel Wakaliga.
