    After traveling well to Masaka on Friday, the Uganda Cranes team later held their final training session at the Masaka Recreational stadium.

    The training session was well attended by fans who yearned to have a glimpse on their favourite stars.

    ‘It was a one and half session meant to help the players acclimatize to the Masaka ground ahead of the match’ head coach, Milutin Sredejovic told www.fufa.co.ug.

    The Uganda Cranes regional tours are intended to rally support for the national team from the countryside and give the passionate Uganda Cranes supporters an opportunity to watch their favorite stars at their venues than at Namboole stadium.

    Already, Uganda Cranes has visited Western Region (Mbarara), North East (Soroti), Northern (Gulu), Kitara (Masindi), West Nile (Arua) and lately Eastern Region (Mbale).

    The Uganda Cranes contingent to the Buganda regional tour has successfully arrived in Masaka town on Friday afternoon.

    After a two and half journey, the team led by the FUFA National Teams’ Officer Patrick Ntege reached at 2 p.m.

    Later on Friday afternoon, the head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic together with the rest of his technical team will head to the Masaka Recreational stadium for the final training session.

    The Buganda tour is a continuation of the national team’s country side visits from last year.

    The Uganda Cranes team has visited Western, North Eastern, Northern, Kitara, West Nile and Eastern regions respectively.

    The Uganda Cranes headed for the Buganda regional tour in Masaka trained for the first time on Thursday evening at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Lugogo, Kampala.

    This followed the naming of  the team by the head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic on Wednesday during the weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo.

    13 players attended the two hour session whose emphasis was building team coordination, cohesion, inter-play with the final product of scoring a top priority.

    “We have started well and i hope the second session in Masaka on Friday evening is better” Micho told www.fufa.co.ug.

    Club Football: FUFA forms a club licensing appeals committee

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) through the Executive Members formed a Club Licensing appeals committee.
    The committee will cater for discontented clubs which wont be considered by the Club Licensing committee which does the vetting of the Uganda Premier League clubs to see which one qualifies to be lincesed and eligible to take part in the FUFA sanctioned competitions.
    The committee is composed of five members chaired by FUFA Executive Committee member, Agnes Mugena, Ali Tomusange (Vice Chairman ),Alexander Kibandama(Legal), Dr Rock Kakomo and a former Uganda Cranes international, Fred Tamale .
    The club licensing committee will end inspection of clubs on Friday 5th August 2016 and do the evaluation of the findings on the following Saturday where by on Monday it avail the findings.
    Clubs which meet all the requirements will be given full license and those with partial requirements will receive a temporally license while those which will have failed will have to days to appeal to the appeals committee and in case the appeal is not considered that Club will be relegated to the Regional level .

    Lira district leaders promise to support FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Eng. Moses Magogo spent two days in Lira with the main aim of guiding the two representatives from Northern region in next season’s Big League on how to shift from amateur to professional status.

    The FUFA President’s 48 hour stay in the region’s sports hub will definitely yield results as some have already been recorded.

    On day two his stay in Lira together with his Executive Committee member Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel and FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein, the FUFA President held cordial meetings with various leaders in the district aimed at spreading the FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda to the powers in the region.

    Day one on Tuesday saw Eng. Magogo take the Big League sides Lira sporting United and new comers Bright Light FC on the transition process from amateur to professional football.

    At Lira Municipal Council, the FUFA President held talks with the Mayor His Worship Mike Ogwang Bebe.

    ‘We have football lovers in Lira. Our region has produced stars. Some have grown old while others passed. We need to replace them. As leaders we must help FUFA in this programme to get new players’ said Ogwang.

    ‘Our region is blessed with sports leaders like Omara Apitta (Commissioner for Sports) and Bosco Onyik (NCS Chairman). Our council will try its best to help these clubs by providing them some revenue collected from the district’ added the Mayor.

    ‘I will contact other stakeholders in this region to help raise funds for these clubs’ His Worship the Mayor further noted.

    FUFA President also had a guided tour of the site where the ongoing works of the new Akii Bua stadium are ongoing.

    ‘It is wonderful project. If completed, FUFA will include the facility amongst those to be inspected by CAF and FIFA for future international engagements for Uganda Cranes’ said Magogo.

    The new stadium is on a 46 acre expansive land.

    The President’s day’s busy schedule also saw him meet the District CAO Mugolo Richard and Chairman LC V Alex Oremo A lot.

    Both leaders were happy with the FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda launched today at Pacific Hotel at a function attended by officials of both Lira Sporting United and Bright Light.

    ‘We thank you for bringing this programme to our region which benefits both sets of people on the local and international scene. This programme will link our region to the rest of Uganda and the world’ said Oremo.

    ‘We are indeed more than ready to give you more support to make this programme a success. I will present in the Council our sports agenda that will cover the two clubs Sporting United and Bright Light’ added Oremo.

    The CAO Mugolo said that football there is no need for players in Lira to move to other parts of the country if the FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda is followed.

    The cultural leaders were also briefed about the programme which was welcomed by the Rt Hon Prime Minister Richard Nam of the Lango Cultural Foundation.

    ‘We shall give FUFA massive support in this programme. The 153 clans in the region will help in the process of creating feeder clubs from which teams at higher levels can sign players from the lower ranks’

    The RDC Simon Mutachuka Amooti noted the programme highlights an area of event management and security.

    ‘We shall maintain high levels of security during the games to be hosted by Sporting United and Bright Light. My office will work hand in hand with other district leaders to make sure that the home sides and visitors get good security during matches. The fans also must be rest assured that their safety will be a top priority item during matches’

    During the launch late in the afternoon on Wednesday, Hon. Okello George Vice Chairman Lira District could not hide his joy.

    ‘We are blessed to have this programme come tour region for the first time in Uganda. It is a privilege to us that FUFA picked on Lira the centre of sports stars in Northern Uganda to become the pioneers. Let us take up the opportunity with open hands and don’t have to let down football in the region’ said Okello.

    FUFA is using the two clubs as pioneers of the programme in Northern Uganda and will later spread to other parts of the country.

    ‘Mbale, Iganga, Masaka and Mbarara are traditional football hubs that have been identified by FUFA for this similar programme in future’ said FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

     

    He added; ‘We are overwhelmed by the response from the district leaders towards the programme. We believe that our visit in Lira will yield results. The leaders are very positive towards the Clubs Pro Agenda’

    FUFA donated balls to the two Big League sides.

     

    The clubs were taken through the objectives, rules and regulations of the Club Licensing Seminar all aimed at improving the levels of the game in the region.

    The head coach of the Uganda national football team, the Uganda Cranes Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has released the provisional team of 23 players with one guest player inclusive.

    Micho named the team during the weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo Kampala on Wednesday.

    The press conference was also graced by the FUFA Finance Director, Decolas Kiiza and FUFA Marketing Director Esther Musoke.

    “We shall have one training session on Thursday evening at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. There is one player from Sweden who is here on Holiday. Hassan Mawanda Wasswa is the team captain.” Micho stated.

    The team leaves on Friday morning and shall be expected to train the at the match day venue, Masaka Recreational Stadium later in the evening.

    Beach Soccer: Uganda referees appointed for CAF duty

    Three Uganda Beach Soccer referees have been appointed to officiate an Africa championship qualifier match between Tanzania and Ivory Coast on 28th August 2016 in Tanzania.
    Those appointed include Shafic Mugerwa (Center Referee), Ivan Bayige Kintu (Referee 2), Muhammad Ssenteza (Referee 3).
    The three are the only FIFA Beach Soccer referees in East Africa while Sudan add up in to make two Countries with FIFA Beach Soccer Referees from the CECAFA region.
    They will work together with Adil Oucher  from Morocco (Time Keeper) and Reverien Ndikuriyo from Burundi (Match Commissioner)

    Beach Soccer: Sand Cranes to miss tie against Egypt

    Uganda National Beach soccer team-Sand Cranes will miss their second opportunity to play a high profile team on the Continent after financial constraints led to the withdrawal of the team from the Africa Championship qualifiers.

    Uganda was due to play Egypt on the weekend of 26th-28th in Entebbe.

    ‘FUFA confirms that the Sand Cranes will not feature in the Africa Beach soccer championship this year due to a congested CAF/FIFA Calendar in the next three months. However resources will be mobilised to support other Beach Soccer activities in the country’

    Uganda played its first official continental fixture against Ghana in 2015.

    FUFA has offered an 18% discount (4500/-) off an ordinary ticket of 25,000/-  to the first 2,600 fans who will purchase the ticket for the 2017 AFCON Qualifier match between Uganda Cranes and Comoros due on 3rd September at Mandela National Stadium.

    The tickets that are on a limited offer will be available to the fans starting  Monday 1st to Wednesday 10th August, 2016 at FUFA House only between 9am and 5pm.

    ‘The offer will give the fans an opportunity to purchase the tickets early. The same ticket will be used by fans to watch International friendly match between Uganda Cranes and Kenya’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein

    The discount ticket holders will also use them to watch the international friendly match between Uganda and Kenya at Namboole on 30th August, 2016.

    Hussein added;

    ‘On  match day of Uganda vs Kenya, fans will only show their tickets to the personnel at the gate to gain access to the stadium. No part of the ticket will be taken off.  The tickets will be given back to the fans immediately after verification for use again on 3rd September’

    After 10th August, depending on the availability, tickets will be withdrawn from the market for the release and distribution of other categories of 25,000/-(Ordinary) , 60,000/-(VIP Blue seats) and 150,000/- (VVIP) to the designated selling points.

    Referees for refresher course, fitness tests ahead of new season

    Elite referees numbering 128 will undergo a refresher course and physical fitness test on this Saturday and Sunday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru .
    The referees will be sensitised on amendments of the FIFA 17 Laws of the Game that were put to use from 1st July 2016 .
    According to the FUFA Referees Manager Samuel Egesa, the exercise will help prepare the match officials for the forthcoming 2016/2017 season of the Azam Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League and the FUFA Women Elite League.
    Egesa also confirmed that the exercise will be taken to clubs starting 3rd August to sensitise the players and officials.

    National physical fitness Instructor Ali Kalyango and his deputy Rahma Nansubuga Kizito will handle the exercise together with other instructors Ali Tomusange, Ali Waiswa, Yusuf Awuye, Catherine Adipo and Samuel Egesa.

    Northern region for FUFA Club Pro Agenda due next week in Lira

    The FUFA Club Pro Agenda will roll out for the first time in Northern Uganda next week as Big League sides Sporting United FC and Bright Light FC become the first beneficiaries of the programme aimed at professionalising the beautiful game of football in the country.

    The workshop will be held in Lira on 2nd and 3rd August, 2016 where both clubs are based.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo who is a certified FIFA Football Administration Instructor and FUFA Executive Committee Member Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel  will make the trip to Lira for the presentation on various areas about football.

    ‘The FUFA President will meet the two clubs to draw plans on hot to professionalise football at this level. We are using the two clubs are pioneers of the programme in Northern Uganda and will later spread to other parts of the country’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.

    Mbale, Iganga, Masaka and Mbarara are traditional football hubs that have been identified by FUFA for this similar programme.

    Currdnt llubs playing in the Azam Uganda Premier League will enjoy such programmes upon application through the office of the FUFA Chief Executive Officer.

    Buganda Region Football Association delegates hold meeting with FUFA President

    FUFA Assembly Delegates  from Buganda  Region Football Associations held a cordial meeting with FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at FUFA House on Wednesday morning.

    FUFA President who is fresh from Nigeria where he met the FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss issues with other FA Presidents about African football said that it is always part of his plans to meet all FUFA’s 32 members.

    ‘Such opportunities give me chance to meet the members and delegates and discuss issues coupled with challenges in their regions’

    Eng. Magogo alos confirmed that he will attend the Buganda Region FA Annual Assembly due this Saturday at Standard High Zanna.

    The entire delegation also took time to visit the studios of 102.1 FUFA fm where the Chairman of Buganda region FA Hajji Sulaiman Sejengo urged all football fans to turn up in big numbers on 3rd September 2016 at Namboole stadium when Uganda Cranes play Comoros in the 2017 AFCON Qualifier.

    Azam Uganda Premier League: Kick off confirmed for 19th August 2016

     

    Ahead of the highly anticipated Azam Uganda Premier League 2016/2017 season, the FUFA Licensing Committee has intensified its work of ensuring that the Clubs fulfill the necessary requirements before kickoff on 19th August 2016.

    While addressing the media at FUFA House in Mengo, the Chairman FUFA Club Licensing Committee Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel highlighted the importance of exercise.

    ‘The aim of club licensing is to improve the management of the game from Amateur to Professional level as guided by CAF and  FIFA’ said Dr. Ogwel

    He further outlined the new amendments in the club licensing regulations as noted below;

    • The Club CEO should be a signatory to the club bank account
    • The minimum qualification for the Head coach and his assistant should be CAF B coaching license holder in the Azam Uganda Premier League
    • Coaches for the FUFA Juniors Elite League (u-17) teams should posses a minimum of a CAF C coaching license

    The Club licensing process is in progress with a lot of attention put on Criteria A that involves;

    • Payments of Shs 2 millions, submission of budgets, sources of Funds, CEO Certificate and his contract with the club, Current bank statement, Medical Personnel and his contract, Contract of coach and proof of his License, Tenancy Agreement (Office and Stadium) , U-17 team with name of coach who has a  CAF C coaching License.

    Only KCCA FC and Soana  FC have fulfilled the above requirements as yet while Lweza FC, BUL FC, JMC Hippos, Kirinya Jinja SS,Proline, SC Villa, Bright Stars, Police FC, The Saints, Sadolin Paints and URA have partially fulfilled the requirements for criteria A.

    Three Clubs; SC Vipers, Onduparaka FC and Express are yet to submit any of the listed requirements under criteria A.

    A Club has to fulfill at least 50 % of the requirements to be given a provisional license and 70 % for a complete license .

    The ticket prices for the crucial Uganda Cranes versus Comoroa AFCON 2017 group D qualifiers have been officially released by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Wednesday, 27th July 2016.

    The FUFA International Match organizing committee chairman, Dr. Benard Patrick Ogwel released the prices for all the ticket catergories during the weekly press conference at Mengo in Kampala.

    ‘We have released the match ticket prices early to enable our beloved supporters plan and prepare for the historic match’ Dr. Ogwel, who was flanked by the FUFA Comunications Director, Ahmed Hussein stated during the well attended press conference.

    Uganda Cranes versus Comoros AFCON 2017 group D qualifier slated for the 3rd September 2016 at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    Ticket Price Catergories:

    The gold tickets (VVIP) will cost Ug.shs 150,000, fans in the blue seats (VIP) will pay  Ug.shs 60,000 and the general wing (ordinary tickets) will cost Ug.shs 25,000.

    ‘We encourage as many fans to get their tickets early as soon as they are officially released on sale’ Dr. Ogwel, also the Chairperson of the FUFA Club licensing committee added.

    Complimentary match day tickets will be processed for the media and other stake holders including sponsors and other FUFA partners through accreditation process.

    Beach Soccer: Beginners’ coaching, refereeing courses start in Western region

    The Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) run coaching and refereeing courses for the Western region have started at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara.

    There are over 40 participants coming from all the eight districts that make up the Western region.

    UBSA chairman, Deo Mutabazi hinted on the importance of the course with a  four year strategic plan that started in 2013.

    ‘We have started with capacity building commencing with the Western Uganda region’  Mutabazi stated.

    The course that has attracted 19 referees and 21 coaches was officially opened by Bishop Stuart PRO Rose Rwankole who represented Vice Chancellor Prof. Moudah Kamatenesi but UBSA officials led by their Chairman Mutabazi later paid her a courtesy visit where they presented to her a Uganda Cranes jersey.

    After the Western region, the programme will continue with the Eastern and Kitara regions.

    Early next year, the regions of West Nile, Northern Uganda and  North East shall be encroached.

    Uganda’s only CAF beach soccer and Futsal Instructor Ali Mwebe is imparting all his expertise in the participants assisted by qualified beach soccer coaches Bashir Mutyaba, Anthony Tumwesigye (Course Coordinator).

    FUFA Corporate Social Responsibility:

    Nakasongola United 1-4 Uganda Cranes

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and the national football team, Uganda Cranes have achieved several goals set during the visit to Nakasongola on Saturday, 23rd July 2016.

    The national team players and officials conducted a guided tour around the Nakasongola Health Center IV, part of the main reason for the visit.

    Later, the Uganda Cranes defeated Nakasongola United team 4-1 in the  charity match played at St Lawrence primary School, Migyera in Nakasongola.

    KCCA striker Derrick Nsibambi opened with a great header just after five minutes following a decent cross from club-mate Joseph Ochaya.

    Proline forward Edrisa Lubega then scored a brace as the first half ended 3-0.

    The home team pulled a goal back through Stephen Wokoroach’s penalty after Halid Lwaliwa fouled Emma Mutebi in the area.

    Onduparaka striker Shaban Muhammed sealed the victory with a well finished effort.

    The charity match was aimed at improving the maternity ward at Nakasongola Health Centre IV.

    It is a strong starting line up with KCCA goalkeeper, Benjamin Ochan starting ahead of Yasin Mugabi.

    The rest of the players on the starting team are; Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Timothy Awanyi, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Ivan Ntege, Erisa Ssekisambu, Kezironi Kizito, Derrick Nsibambi, Musa Esenu, Edrisa Lubega.
