The Uganda National women football team-Crested Cranes players have promised a good performance against Kenya Starlets in an international friendly on Sunday at Moi International Sports stadium in Kisumu.

Stella Kaliba Nassuna, the team’s assistant captain, said they are ready for the game, which they will take as seriously as an international qualifier.
‘We are not taking ourselves as underdogs, we are looking at this game as an international game involving two national teams. Our aim of being on the pitch will be to win the match. We respect the Kenyans and we expect them to respect us as well,” Nassuna said.

Kaliba made the remarks while talking to Kenya Media, moments after the team’s early morning light training session on Saturday at Pandpieri primary school, a few meters from the Vittoria Suites, where the team is accommodated.

Head coach Majida Nantanda is expected to name a strong squad against the Kenyans, who also arrived in Kisumu on Friday morning.
The Crested Cranes had their final traning session at the stadium venue ahead of Sunday’s tie with rivals Kenya. The match kicks off at 3pm EAST and will be broadcast live on 102.1 FUFA fm.

Both sets of players watched the Kenya Premier League match between Chemilil and AFC Leopards won 1-0 by the fromer.
The Kenyan media that attended the training session of the Crested Cranes also got the chance to carry out interviews with the Ugandan players.

The National Council of Sports has written to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) indicating that the meeting between Minister of State for Sports and world soccer governing body FIFA will guide them over the registration of FUFA under the Trusteeship Act.
FIFA has confirmed to FUFA that they will come to Uganda for a meeting on 12th July, 2016 with Minister of State for Sports Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi.
Part of the communication dated 30th June, 2016 and signed by NCS General Secretary Nicholas Muramagi states that;
‘We shall permit for a window grace period lasting up to 16th July, 2016 in which period we expect the engagement with the FIFA delegation to have concluded and a definite way forward determined’
FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein confirmed the FIFA-Government meeting.
‘The meeting will be a follow up of what has already been discussed between FUFA and Minister of State and Sports. We believe that there will be a clearer picture for NCS and FUFA after the meeting on 12th July, 2016. The laws of the country and FIFA Statutes will guide the meeting on understanding the current situation before FUFA completes its registration under the new sports guidelines’
FUFA has fulfilled all requirements under the new guidelines from NCS by submitting the necessary documents. However there have been concerns raised by FUFA to NCS that registration for the local soccer governing body under the Trusteeship Act contravenes with the FIFA statutes.
Uganda National women football side-Crested Cranes has this evening (on Friday) arrived safely in the Kenyan City of Kisumu ahead of the international friendly on Sunday July 3rd at the Moi Sports Complex.
The Ugandan contingent with their Leader of Delegation (Woman representative on the FUFA Executive) Ms. Agnes Mugena were received by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President Doris Petra and the International Match Orgainsing Committee (IMOC) chairperson Mr. Micheal Ouma among other officials from the host federation.

The team was provided with Saturday’s programme which will include light jogging in the morning at 7 O’clock before heading to the match venue to watch a Kenyan Premier league game between Chemelil FC and AFC Leopards. The team will later have the chance to train from the stadium for their only session ahead of Sunday’s encounter.

The five-day Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Member Association (M.A) goalkeeping coaching course accorded to FUFA ended successfully on Friday in Njeru.
A total of 26 participants (consisting of Azam Uganda Premier League and Big league club) took part in the course held at the FUFA Technical center.
This high profile course ran from the 25th June to 1st July 2016.
It was conducted by FIFA Instructor Mr. Bob Broweays from Belgium who took the participants through theory and practical sessions through out the duration of the course.
Representing the FUFA president at the closing ceremony, the Federation Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson appreciated FIFA in a special way for the endeavors of promoting football in Uganda.
Today is an immense day for Ugandan Football, because what we are concluding here is the first course that FIFA holds for us, this is a very clear indication that the world body was always with us in all our endeavours for football progression.
The main objective behind the organization of this course was solely to improve the quality and quantity of our goalkeepers both men and women.
Now we do not have enough goalkeepers and as well as enough goalkeeper coaches, but I am sure that we are on the way to grow from where we are now and that actually will happen.
FIFA instructor Bob Broweays lauded the coaches for their commitment and determination to learn more skills.
FUFA Education Officer Jackson Nyima, too commended FIFA and FUFA for these marathon of courses.

At the end of the closing ceremony, all the coaches were received their certificates.

Uganda National women football team and officials left on Friday morning at 10.34am for the trip to Kisumu where they will play a friendly match against Kenya on Sunday. There was a lot of excitement among the players and officials at FUFA House before they departed.
They were served breakfast at FUFA House but many players were just in awesome moments.
Right back defender Viola Namuddu a player with FUFA Women Elite League champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School said that she has been dreaming of playing for her country.
‘I love my country Uganda. I am excited about this opportunity to play for Crested Cranes’ said Namuddu
Christine Wanyana who plays for Buikwe She Red Stars was named captained to be assisted by She Corporates equally experienced player Stella Nasuna Kaliba.
‘I have confidence in this pair as they have experience in the leadership roles in football’ said head coach Nantanda Majidah.
Before departure the players were briefed by FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein on how to handle media related issues especially when approached for interviews.
The players were also hosted in the studios on 102.1 FUFA fm.

Three Uganda Cranes ambassadors, Robert Odongkara, Brian Umony and Isaac Isinde guided St George football club to their 28th league success in the Ethiopian premier league.
St George were officially crowned 2015/16 league winners on Wednesday night following a 2-1 home victory to Hawassa during the last fixture of the season played in Addis Ababa.
Robert Odongkara, for the fifth time in a row was named the best goalkeeper of the season.

The Uganda National Women team (Crested Cranes) has started non residential training at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo ahead of the highly anticipated international buildup match against their counterparts from Kenya on Sunday 3rd July 2016 at Moi Sports complex in Kisumu.
After the training, head coach Majidah Natanda said that she will put the emphasis on mental and psychological preparation.

‘The players do not need hard training because they have just completed the season, they need light training’ noted the coach.
She expects a befitting challenge from Kenya since they qualified for the continental Women’s Championships in Cameroon later this year.

Both teams are preparing for the CECAFA women’s championship in September to be hosted in Uganda while Kenya is preparing for the Africa Women’s championship in December.

For the second year running, Kawempe Muslim secondary school sharp striker, Sandra Nabweteeme scooped the top scorers’ accolade.
In the 2014/15 season, she scored 17 goals to take home the most goal scorers’ award as well as the FUFA female footballer of the year accolade.
In the subsequent season, she finished with 23 goals to her name.
Nabweteeme has dedicated the 2015/16 season to the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.
Now a member of the senior national side, the Uganda Crested Cranes she noted;

While addressing the media during the press conference held on Tuesday at FUFA House in Mengo, the FUFA President who was flanked by the Federation Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson singled out the coverage accorded to the women football programmes in the country especially the recently concluded FUFA Women Elite league.

This is such a big milestone in Uganda Women football. I would like to thank the media for the professional coverage given to women football in Uganda .It is because of you that women football is popular in Uganda.
Several activities have been lined up on FUFA’s calendar for women’s football and among these activities-is the Kenya versus Uganda friendly in Kisumu on Sunday 3rd July 2016 , the 2016 CECAFA Women’s Championship, Uganda Cup women’s version and continental engagement and Club licensing to start next season.
No one has forced us to engage in these activities .We know that they are costly but we believe in the activities because they give us a step ahead.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations technical director, Edgar Watson has confirmed that the first ever FUFA referees assessors’ course will take place at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru in the coming month.
The course dates have also been confirmed for the 15th and 16th July 2016.
Watson confirmed the course to the media during a press conference held on Tuesday at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
‘The Referees’ assessors course is confirmed for the 15th and 16th July 2016 at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru. Only those assessors who have been in practice are legible to attend’ Watson confirmed.
FUFA has been at the fore front of promoting education in the department departments – refereeing, administration and technical (coaches).
FUFA Communications Department has confirmed the dates of two important events due this week.
With the Uganda women National team set to play Kenya in an international friendly on 3rd July, 2016, the head coach Majidah Nantanda is set to name her squad and also release the details for sessions.

Kawempe Muslim Secondary School women football club has written history as the first club to win two consecutive national league titles.
The positive development followed a nail biting 4-2 penalty triumph after an action packed goal-less ninety minutes of an exciting final played at Nakivubo Stadium in the heart of the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

The FIFA goalkeepers’ coaching course will start on Monday 27th June and end on 1st July 2016 at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru with 30 participants expected to attend.
Participants are from the 16 clubs in the Azam Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League clubs.
FIFA Instructor Belgian Bob Broweays arrived last night to head the course.
FUFA has confirmed that only certified goalkeeping coaches will be allowed on the technical benches of all the teams in the top flight next season.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) level ‘A’ course successfully concluded at the FUFA Technical center on Saturday.
FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo officiated at the closing ceremony attended by CAF instructor, Sande Kayuni from Tanzania.
This was a continuation of the early CAF ‘A’ modules that the coaches underwent in January 2016.

FUFA Education officer, Jackson Nyiima told www.fufa.co.ug that education for all (coaches, referees, administrators) has always remained FUFA’s priority.
The FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo encouraged the coaches to keep in active practice.
It is disheartening to see coaches qualify but when they are non-practitioners. Coaches build great players and teams. Therefore, you have a key role in football development in the country.
He also hinted on specialization, condemned the pre-determination of match results among other key issues.
On by-passing the FUFA regulations, the FUFA President noted that the element of having shadow coaches on bench on match days by UPL clubs will highly be punishable.
Starting with next season (2016-17), an assistant coach should be a holder of CAF B License.
He also encouraged all the coaches to register with the Uganda coaches Association.
‘It will advocate for you wherever you have challenges in your coaching career’ he noted.
Uganda now has 38 CAF ‘A’ licensed coaches.

Defending champions of the FUFA Women Elite league, Kawempe Muslim Secondary school take on the She Corporates in the final at Nakivubo stadium on Sunday afternoon.
This follows the successful semi finals played on Thursday at the same stadium.

In the semi finals, Kawempe Muslim overcame UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 whilst the She Corporates were 2-1 winners over Gafford Ladies.
Before the final, there will be a third place play off match between Gafford Ladies and UCU Lady Cardinals.
The final will be broadcast live on 102.1 FUFA f.m.
