    FIFA responds to NCS over FUFA’s registration under the Trustee Incorporation Act

    Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has for the second time in a space of three weeks written to the National Council of Sports (NCS) explaining their stand of forced incorporation of FUFA under the Trustees Incorporation Act.

    In a letter written by Marco Villige, the FIFA Deputy Secretary General (Administration) through the FUFA Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson,  FIFA  points to the bold fact that any form of forced incorporation of FUFA under the Trustees Incorporation Act would be considered as interference in contravention to the FIFA Statutes, Article 14, paragraph 1 and Article 19 paragraph 1.

    The letter also highlights about the continued readiness of FIFA to dispatch a delegation to Uganda should a meeting with the relevant authorities finally be convened.

    Full Letter from FIFA to which CAF is copied:

    We refer to your letter dated 15 June 2016 with regard to the incorporation of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the content of which received our full attention.

    We take note that the government authorities of Uganda appear to continue t0 insist on the incorporation of FUFA under the “Trustees Incorporation Act”.

    ln this context, we reiterate our position — which was communicated to you through our letters dated 30th September 2013 and 26th May 2016 — that the incorporation of FUFA under the Trustees Incorporation Act seems to be in contravention of the FIFA Statutes, namely article l4 par. 1 i) and article 19 par. 1′.

    Furthermore, we deplore that the relevant authorities are not responsive to our suggestion to have a dedicated meeting in order to discuss the issues at stake in view of finding a mutually satisfactory way forward.

    Nevertheless, we remain ready to dispatch a delegation to Uganda should such a meeting finally be convened.

    However, we would like t0 underline that any forced incorporation of FUFA under the Trustees Incorporation Act would be considered as interference in contravention to the above-mentioned provisions of the FIFA Statutes and would consequently be brought t0 the attention of the relevant FIFA bodies to take appropriate measures against FUFA, including sanctions.

    Finally, we kindly draw your attention to the fact that this information is only of a general nature and, therefore, without prejudice to any decision that any other competent body of FIFA may be called t0 pass in this or similar matters in the future.

    We thank you for taking note of the above and keeping us informed about further developments in this regard.

    Women football: Kenya vs Uganda friendly match confirmed

    Old rivals Kenya and Uganda will square off in an international friendly in women football on 3rd July, 2016 in Kisumu.

    The news comes as a timely development to women football in Uganda following the successful start of the FUFA Women Elite League in 2015.

    FUFA will release the full details of the friendly match at a press conference when the  FUFA Women Elite League plays offs are completed at which the National team-Crested Cranes squad will be named by Head coach Majidah Nantanda.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo has been a strong advocate of women football in the country.

    ‘With some support from FIFA for projects like courses aimed at helping women football development, the game has taken big strides in the country.  We are proud of the ground work started by a FIFA team during the FIFA Com-Unity course in December, 2014 that culminated into the top flight league and improvement of women football’ said FUFA President Eng. Magogo.

    The Head coach Majidah Nantanda said ;

  • FUFA Decision on Vipers’ protest of Muhammad Shaban

    FUFA Decision on Vipers’ protest of Muhammad Shaban

    FUFA has received the Vipers’ protest over Muhammad Shaban and wish in accordance with FUFA Regulations on status and transfer of players, clarify as follows;

    The ’employment contract’ as signed on 11th June 2015 and submitted for the first time to FUFA along with your protest contravenes the above regulations as highlighted below;

    1. Bearing the player’s birth date and the date of signing of the said ’employment contract’ 11th June 2015, the player was a minor as defined by the above regulations Article 2(21) Minor: A player who has not yet reached the age of 18. This renders the said “employment contract” null and void.
    2. Article 10 of the same regulations stipulates that application for a professional player must be submitted together with a copy of a contract. FUFA did not receive any contract for the above player (either a youth agreement for minors) at the time of registration of the same player in your (U-17) side.

    The FUFA Secretariat records show that Muhammad Shaban was registered with Onduparaka FC in Fourth division league of Arua District Football Association in 2013/14 season at age of 15 then.

    When the club was promoted, the same player featured in the 2014/15 West Nile Regional League and 2015/16 2nd division/FUFA Big League in which Onduparaka FC competed and consequently moved up the ranks to the 1st division/Uganda Premier League.

    The status and eligibility of the player can therefore be confirmed under Onduparaka FC and it is at their discretion to use the player in any FUFA organized competition including the 2015/16 Uganda Cup final on 18th June 2016
