    Goalkeeper Yawe stars in Buwambo United’s victory over Luwero United

    Kampala: Edgars 0-2 CATDA

    Goalkeeper Farouk Yawe was the hero on the day for Luwero United, saving three penalties (one in normal play) during their 4-2 post match victory against Buwambo United.

    This was the first of the double header play-off matches as the FUFA Regional League play-offs kicked off at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday.

    Yawe, who is also the team captain for Luwero United saved a penalty in the 40th minute off Bernado Kateregga as normal time ended goal-less.

    Then in the shoot out, he stopped Alex Kiyegga and Ronald Seku’s kicks from the penalty mark.

    Luwero United scorers in the post match penalties were Joshua Kigozi, Joseph Nkabirwa, Ivan Nambafu Pepera and Tadeo Ddumba.

    Buwambo United’s two penalties converted came from captain Saul Ntambazi and William Kinene.

    Now Luwero United will face CATDA in Saturday’s final to determine which club qualifies to the 2020-21 Star Times FUFA Big League.

    Friday, 23rd October 2020 is a rest day for both clubs.

    FUFA has confirmed that another set of mouth watering games involving 16 FUFA Regional clubs and FUFA Women Elite League will swing into action on Thursday 22nd October 2020.

    All the action will be Exclusively live on 1021. FUFA fm and Facebook- Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

    There will be 12 FUFA Regional Legaue Playoff matches and One (1) FUFA Women Elite League Play off.

    According to the FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein, all these 13 matches will be broadcast Exclusively Live on 102.1 FUFA fm and Facebook- Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

    The play offs will kick off with a double header of Buganda Region Teams as Buwambo FC engages Luweero United during the early kick off at 10 a.m

    Then, Edgars Youth will entertain CATDA in the subsequent fixture at 2pm in the Kampala Region battle.

    On Wednesday, 21st October 2020, Kitara and Kiboga Young Football Club shall square off during the final of the StarTimes FUFA Big League promotional play-off at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

    To make it to the final, Hoima based Kitara overcame Mbale’s Kataka 7-6 in post match penalties after a goal-less draw in normal time during the first encounter.

    The second game witnessed Kiboga Young out-muscle Ndejje University 3-1 with strikes coming from captain Jamaldine Buchochera, Brian Olega and Sula Wambede.

    Ndejje University had got the opening goal via a Sulaiman Tumusiime’s kick from the penalty spot.

    Prior to the final game, the two coaches of the respective sides are positive and ready to deliver their best.

    ‘We are not leaving anything to chance. Football is maracado. It is termed the beautiful game of hard work. We have worked hard and ready to qualify for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League’ Richard Makumbi, head coach at Kiboga Young remarked.

    Key players to watch:

    The StarTimes FUFA Big League top scorer from the regular season, Brian Muluuli Mayanja of Kitara is one of the players to key watch of all.

    Others are captain Maxwell Owachgui, goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba, creative midfielder Jamil Nvule Kisitu, the ‘age-less’ defender Musa Docca and striker George Senkaaba.

    The Kiboga Young star players are goalkeeper Steven Mukomba, captain Jamadlin Buchochera, their top scorer Luka Okori, Pascal Irasa, Brian Olega and Gody Otika among others.

    The pre-match press conference that was held at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Sunday, 18th October 2020 confirmed the match officials for the opening two matches.

    The meeting was addressed by the FUFA Competitions Director Hajati Aisha Nalule who was flanked by the FUFA Deputy CEO – Football Decolas Kiiza and FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu Watenga.

    Judicial bodies approved by 96th FUFA Ordinary Assembly

    The 96th FUFA Ordinary Assembly approved the Judicial bodies that will be in place for the year 2020-21.

    These include the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary (FED) Committee, Competitions Disciplinary Panel, Investigations Chamber, Dispute Resolution Chamber and Appeals Committee.

    Eastern region delegate Amin Bbosa moved the motion to approve the members.

    This was seconded by Buganda region’s duo of Steven Ssemutono and Joseph Mwanje.

    Meanwhile, the Electoral committee was also approved.

    The Assembly progressed well from start to finish and there was a special honour of the former servants of the beautiful game.

    96th FUFA Ordinary Assembly endorses 2020-21 Financial year budget

    The budget was unanimously passed by the 96th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly held at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi, Kampala.

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has passed an estimated budget of UGX 36,095,753,881 for the financial year 2021.

    The aforementioned budget is an increment by UGX 3.646,443,239 Billion shillings from the previous financial year.

    According to the FUFA Finance Director Julian Namuganga, funds will come from the following sources;

    ·         FIFA Solidarity Grant – 1,140,000,000

    ·         Others    – 1,416,333,000

    Namuganga explained that the FIFA Operational Grant is unchanged from the prior period while the Project funding includes grants for COVID-19 Relief.

    She further asserted that CAF Grant will include expected CHAN and AFCON TV Rights while Government funding will go to the Senior Men’s Football Team (Uganda Cranes) and the FUFA Drum.

    Expenditure Estimates

    The passed budget will cater for all FUFA expenses and this have been categorised into three areas namely;

    Sport – 71%

    Business-  23%

    Governance – 6%

    This will trickle down to the 10 key focus areas of FUFA that include

    Administration – 4, 861,160,000

    Communications – 1,362,266,250

    Competitions – 2,874,925,000

    Football Development – 4,118,500,000

    Governance – 1,355,280,000

    Infrastructure – 2,910,130,000

    Harunah Mawanda moved the motion to pass the financial report.

    Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) Delegate Deo Mutabazi and Patrick Lugemwa from the Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) seconded the motion.

    Meanwhile, the assembly also agreed to grant the auditors, KAL Associates yet another year.

    The 96th FUFA Ordinary Assembly that convened at Silver Springs Hotel, Kampala appreciated the diligent servants of the beautiful game.

    Like the norm has been over the previous years, the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo handled over special plaques and Shs 1,000,000 to the different personalities whose efforts to serve football could not go unnoticed.

    Meanwhile, the assembly passed the budget of Shs. 36, 095,753,881 for the next financial year as well as approval of the activity year plan.

    The same assembly approved the appointments of standing committees and the FUFA Electoral Committeee.

    • He was a fine left winger who played for Nsambya FC
    • Former Uganda Cranes player in the 70s
    • His great asset was ball control, dribbling and passing. He was an expert at free-kicks, a firm believer in exposure of natural talent.

    • Founding Chairman and Member of Uganda Youth Football Association in 2005
    • Co-founder of Women football in Uganda.
    • First Chairman FUFA Women football Standing Committee, appointed on 1st October 1995.
    • Delegate for Kampala in the first elective FUFA Assembly of 14 Delegates in 1994.
    • Founder of uplifting Kampala Divisions to District Football status
    • Co- founder of Friends Of Football
    • Served as a CAF Commissioner

    • Born 18th August 1950
    • Played for Nsambya SC but his last active football match on 24th December 1974 after suffering a nasty injury.
    • Served as member of Kampala Zone 9
    • Served as Secretary Nsambya SC
    • He helped process Denis Onyango’s first football License
    • Served as a member of Makindye DFA,
    • Co-founder Kansanga Sports club in 1988
    • Founder Kansnga Half London in 2002
    • Served under the leadership of many FUFA Presidents including Mzee Kezekia Segwanga Musisi (RIP), Sebaana Kizito (RIP), Denis Obua (RIP) and John Baptist Semanobe.

  • Uganda Cranes safely return home from Dubai

    Uganda Cranes safely return home from Dubai

    A 26 man Uganda Cranes contingent composed of players and officials has on Tuesday morning safely landed in Uganda from Dubai aboard Dubai Airlines following a successful five days training camp.

    Only two foreign based players that is Allan Kateregga and TP Mazembe’s Joseph Ochaya returned with the team with the former expected to connect to Kinshasa on Tuesday evening.

    Head coach Johnathan Mckinstry aplauded his troops for the efforts and hardwork put up while in Dubai and further urged them to keep working more harder if they are to be considered for the upcoming 2022 AFCON qualification double header against South Sudan in November with the squad expected to be summoned before end of this month.
