    Vipers SC starting XI  that faced Sc Villa Jogoo in the 2nd leg semifinal of Stanbic Uganda Cup at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Tuesday 5th June 2018.

    Vipers SC has advanced to the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging SC Villa 1:0 in the 2nd leg semifinals at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday June 5th.

    The 1-0 aggregate victory  confirmed Vipers SC as KCCA FC’s opponents who  eliminated FUFA Big League sdie Synergy FC in the first semifinal. KCCA won 10-0 aggregate.

    KCCA FC are the Uganda Cup holders.

    Prior to kick off, a minute of silence was observed for departed long serving football administrator and CAF Commissioner Hajji Abbassi Sendyowa who was laid to rest in Mbarara on Tuesday.

    Brian Nkuubi came from bench to save the Venoms with a well taken direct free-kick in the 69th minute after Milton Karisa was fouled on the edge of the box.

    Villa’s Allan Kyambadde had the chance to level the game in the 79th minute however, his effort from the free-kick couldn’t bother Vipers’ shot stopper Ismail Watenga as it sailed over the bar.

    This was the third victory of Vipers over SC Villa this season in the four meetings in all Competitions. Vipers defeated Sc Villa in both rounds of the Azam Uganda Premier League.

    The final will be played at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea on Saturday June 9th 2018.

    FUFA Commmunications Department has also confirmed that a prematch Press conference will be held on Thursday at 9am for coaches of the two teams in the final. A venue will be communciated.

    ‘The build up to the final will be great. We want the media to have a session with the coaches before they tarvel to North East for the final. We are ver confident that it will be a classic final. The press conference will be a rehearsal to the final’ said FUFA Communications Manager.

    Commission Of Inquiry meets UPL CEO and FUFA Disciplinary Panel

    FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel Chairman Mr. Deo Mutabazi and Azam Premier League CEO Mr.Bernard Bainamani have appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into Match Officiation at IVY’s Hotel in Kampala this morning.

    Bainamani and Mutabazi separately faced the Commission chaired by Rt.Hon. Daniel Kidega to give a brief on their mandate and respond to football queries in relation to their respective areas of operation.

    Kidega commended the witnesses for cooperating with the Commission by willfully divulging information that is useful to the inquiry.

    Bainamani will avail the commission with all match reports for the 2017/2018 season and footage for selected matches.

    Commission of Inquiry into Match Officiation meets FUFA Competitions Director

    FUFA Competitions Director Hajjati Aisha Nalule appeared before the Commission of Inquiry into Match Officiation at IVY’s Hotel in Kampala this afternoon.

    Nalule briefed the Commission chaired by the Vice Chairman SSP Muzafaru Zirabamuzale on the state of football officiation in the country.

    She highlighted the standard procedures, challenges and areas of improvement in football officiation.

    Next to appear before the Commission will be the Chairman FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel Deo Mutabazi and  Uganda Premier League CEO Bernard Bainamani Bampaire on Tuesday, 5th June.

    The Commission’s Communications Officer Douglas Mazune has confirmed the latest developments.

    NOTE: Members of the sports media will be given chance to take some footage of the proceeedings  on Tuesday 5th June 2018 at Ivy’s Hotel at 9.30am.

    ‘We shall give the media brief time to take some footage of the work at the Hotel then let the Commission continue with the day’s activities. We shal keep communicating and updating the public on specific developments when need arises’ said Mazune.

    Uganda Cranes played their second and final international build up against Niger on Saturday night.

    The Uganda Cranes lost 2-1 in a match played under flood lights at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey city.

    The hosts scored two goals through Zakari Victorien Adebayor and Kamilou Daouda.

    Uganda’s late consolation came from right back Nico Wakiro Wadada, off the assist of second half substitute Yunus Senamtu.

    Head coach Sebastien Desabre made key changes from the first line up that had lost 1-0 to Central African Republic, introducing the team captain Denis Onyango, Moses Opondo, Nico Wakiro Wadada and Edrisa Lubega to the starting line up.

    This was Opondo’s debut for Uganda Cranes.

    The team returns on Monday early morning with key lessons attained from the two build up matches as the planning process for the AFCON 2019 matches against Tanzania and Lesotho continues.

    After a 1-0 loss to Central African Republic on Wednesday, the Uganda Cranes Coach Sebastian Desabre has revealed his plans for the last game against the hosts Niger and the objectives for the one-week camp.

    In his interview with www.fufa.co.ug, the soft spoken Frenchman said that he will not press the panic button due to the loss against CAR because his plans are more than results at the moment.

    “We lost to CAR and it’s hurting because no one would like to be on a losing side. We conceded a goal after a puerile defensive lapse but we were just unlucky that we never converted the many chances we got as we dominated the game for most of the minutes ” Said Desabre.

    He added that the main objective for the one week camp is to improve the game level of the team and change the playing philosophy to the one desired.

    “It’s possible to play for results now but when we are not counting on the future. At a moment we agreed to make mistakes which won’t be repeated during crucial games because we would have perfected with our intended style of play. I will alternate my players to give a chance to others because we are still assessing who fits in our intended style of play and philosophy.” Added the Frenchman.

    Desabre further said that he is impressed with the progress of the team but they still have to risk to read a good game, play like a team, mentally change game philosophy but this can’t be achieved in a small period of time.

    We have a lot learn but we can’t do it in a small period of time. To achieve this we shall have to use a pool of players from whom we shall consider those who fit in our philosophy though per now we have eight key players whom we are currently the pivot of the team. Don’t judge me now, let the real assessment come in September against Tanzania and October against Lesotho. My main target is project Cameroon 2019 and Qatar 2022 and I believe with time to those competitions we will be in a perfect shape after several test matches

    The former Ismaily SC coach believes that it is not all about qualifying to compete for AFCON or World Cup but to qualify and compete.

    The Pearl of Africa – was made popular by Winston Churchill in his 1908 Book entitled  “My African Journey” about his trip to Uganda in 1907.
    Winston Churchill became quite enthused about what he found in Uganda when he wrote “For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa.”

    The FUFA Drum, a new tournament organized by the Federation carries the theme “celebrating Ancestry” with games spread across the entire country and in the long run promoting tourism and creating awareness about Uganda.
    It is along those lines that Uganda Tourism Board(UTB) has partnered with FUFA as the tournament continues to grow in stature just in its maiden edition.
    Uganda Tourism Board has on Friday committed 75 million shillings towards the tournament. While unveiling the package at FUFA House, UTB Deputy CEO, John Ssempebwa stated that as a board,they have been impressed with the objectives of the tournament and seen it’s impact on the people in the games played so far.

    “Uganda is a very beautiful Country, we have good visiting sites, everything good in Africa is found in Uganda. The question is do Ugandans know their country?”
    “So as Uganda Tourism Board, we believe the FUFA DRUM is an avenue for us to promote tourism with several people moving from one region to another. We saw how people from Acholi land moved to Kigezi to support their team, people from Karamoja made the trip to Ankole and this impressed us. We have therefore decided to commit 75 million shillings towards the tournament as a pilot project.” Mr John Ssempeebwa.

    Ssempeebwa asserted that with such movements, people will get to know the different tourist sites, creatures and this will in the end promote tourism.
    “ When people move from one place to another, there is an opportunity to go and find the unknown, visit the tourist attractions we have, so this will in the long run promote tourism”
    The 75 million shillings will cater for five games in the month of June including the penultimate group matches  due this weekend.
    The Selected games that Uganda Tourism Board will cover include;
    Kigezi Vs Buganda 
    Lango Vs Kigezi 
    Bukedi Vs Rwenzori 
    Bunyoro Vs Kampala 
    Ankole Vs West Nile.

    ” It is a moment of excitement where we demonstrate that the game of football is not about goals only but can be a tool to promote tourism and boost the economy. When we set out a strategy to become the number one team in Africa, we got an idea to traverse Uganda to take the game to all parts of the country with an agenda of celebrating Ancestry.” He said before adding, “As FUFA we are happy about this partnership with Uganda Tourism Board and we believe this will in the end boost our economy.”

    The President also went ahead to share his story of how The FUFA Drum has enabled him visit places he had never been to and indicated that with people moving from one region to another, tourism will be boosted.
    “Personally, I had never been to Kapchwora but when I went to watch a game, I got the opportunity to visit the Sipi falls and I believe so many other people get same moments whenever they move from one part of the country to another. This helps to boost the tourism sector in the long run.” He stated.
    He further revealed that there is already an idea to reward fans who will travel, take pictures at tourist sites and share them on social media.
    “ We are still planning with Uganda Tourism Board to have a campaign on Social media with fans sharing pictures at tourist sites and the people with the best or most trending photos will be rewarded.” Revealed the FUFA President.
    In a related development, FUFA FM 102.1 FM has staked a prize for the player who will score the 100th goal in The FUFA Drum, 88 goals have been scored so far. The tournament enters match day five this weekend with eight games on card across different.

    The Holders of the Stanbic Uganda Cup Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club are already assured of a final slot in this year’s championship.

     

    KCCA FC was in bullish mood, humiliating Masaka based side Synergy FC 9-0 during the return leg of the knock out tournament bankrolled by Stanbic Bank Uganda.

     

    Patrick Kaddu scored thrice with a set of brace apiece from Allan Okello and Steven Sserwadda.

    Solomon Okwalinga, a former player at Synergy before switching sides and Jackson Nunda were also on target.

     

    KCCA FC will now wait to face the winner between Sports Club Villa Jogoo and Vipers Sports Club.

     

    Vipers SC and Villa engage next Tuesday during a return leg in the semi-finals at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

    The first leg between the two clubs ended goal-less at Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku ast Sunday.

    International Build Up: Uganda Cranes upbeat despite slip to Central African Republic

    International Build Up Match:

    • Central African Republic 1-0 Uganda

     

    Central African Republic overcame Uganda Cranes 1-0 at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey on Wednesday night under floodlights.

    Ralph Kottoy scored the lone goal on the night towards the end of the first half.

    Uganda Cranes rallied back gallantly but fell short until the final whistle.

    There were changes for the team as the game progressed.

    William Luwagga Kizito and Milton Karisa became the first two players to be introduced in the 54th minute during a double substitution for Faruku Miya and Yunus Sentamu respectively.

    Then Isaac Muleme came on for Allan “Dancing Rasta” Kateregga in the 61st minute before striker Edrisa Lubega replaced Aucho Khalid barely three minutes left on the clock.

    Uganda will play Niger on Saturday in the final build up match.

    Niger had earlier drawn 3 all with Central African Republic during the first game.

    FUFA Anthem to be played at Drum matches this weekend

    The FUFA Anthem will be played at all the FUFA Drum games starting with match day 5 due this weekend.

    The tournament organising Committee chairman Mr. Rogers Byamukama confirmed the development.

    ‘Like you see during CAF and FIFA organized games where respective anthems are played while players are walking from the tunnels, equally the newly launched FUFA Anthem will be played on all the FUFA Drum games this weekend’ said Byamukama during thhe FUFA weekly press briefing on Wednesday at FUFA House in Mengo.

    Byamukama further asserted that the FUFA Anthem will be played only when the players are walking onto the pitch prior to kickoff but the National and Cultural anthems can as well be played as per the match organization.

    The FUFA Anthem composed by FUFA President Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo and sung by music diva Irene Ntale depicts the spirit of nationalism calling upon all Ugandans, fans, Sponsors and Government to rally their support towards the different National teams.

    FUFA Drum 2018: The tournament has progressed for the better, says organizing committee chairman Byamukama

    The chairperson of the local organizing committee for the 2018 FUFA Drum tournament, Rogers Byamukama is impressed about the progress for this inter-provinces tourney.

    Addressing the media on Wednesday at FUFA House during a press conference ahead of match day five fixtures, Byamukama commented about the great progress for the tournament;

    The FUFA Drum tournament has continued to progress for the better. As organizers, we are impressed that the tournament has attracted cultural, religious and political leaders, attracting as many people as possible. We thank the province leaders, players, fans, sponsors and the media who have supported the tournament in the best way possible.

    Flanked by the FUFA Communications manager Ahmed Hussein, Byamukama also lauded the various provinces that have gone an extra mile to solicit for sponsorship through efficient community mobilization.

    Most teams have been able to look for sponsorship which is a great initiative as we are also in the final stages of securing the tournament sponsorship. This tournament has also helped provinces in handling event management and it has been a plat form for FUFA administrators to meet key stake holders in the game. The FUFA Drum has a high level of organization and we shall continue to maintain the status quo.

    The tournament returns this weekend with eight matches on Saturday, 2nd June 2018 and Sunday, 3rd June 2018.

    Besides Kampala and Busoga who have already booked their berths for the quarter finals, a lot is at stake for the remaining provinces.

    There is still a lot to play for in the return leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals between the reigning champions KCCA and Synergy.

    The two clubs face off this Thursday, 31st May 2018 at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala.

    This follows the successful completion of the first leg played on Monday at the Masaka Recreational Stadium where KCCA won 1-0 courtesy of striker Patrick Kaddu’s strike.

    Ahead of the return leg, two coaches from the either camps talked about the readiness for their teams to face off.

    During a press conference held on Wednesday at FUFA House in Mengo, KCCA FC was represented by assistant manager Morley Byekwaso and Brian Ssenyondo represented Synergy.

    Moses Opondo is one of the 23 players summoned by the Uganda Cranes Tactician Sebastien Desabre for a one week camp in Niger.

    The 20 year old Opondo is optimistic of his call up and is looking forward for his first test against Central African Republic on Wednesday evening.

    While speaking to www.fufa.co.ug, the soft spoken lad said that when he is given the opportunity, he will play his role to impress the tactician for future assignments.

    ‘I am looking forward to my debut when I pull on the Uganda colors. However I still need to prove my worth for this selection’ said Opondo

    The Vendsyssel FF forward adds that he has to utilize this Niger training Camp to prove his ability in order to fulfill his dream of playing for the Cranes in more competitive matches.

    Meanwhile the team had a double training session on Tuesday morning and late evening at the Stade General Seyni Koutche ahead of the first encounter against CAR on Wednesday.

    Head coach Sebastien is using the camp for bonding purposes and assessing his players ahead of the resumption of the Total 2019 AFCON Qualifiers in September.

    FUFA’s Vision- to be the Number One football Nation in Africa on and off the pitch has led to many praises from the coporte world including the Ag. Managing Director of National Insurance Corporation (NIC) Mr. Elias Edu

    Mr. Edu was on a courtesy visit at FUFA House with NIC’s Head of Corporate Communications Pamela Abonyo where they met the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

    FUFA President and Mr. Edu discussed a range of issues related to football for the short and long term.

    Edu was presented with a Uganda Cranes original jersey won by Khalid Aucho at the 2017 AFCON Finals in Gabon when Uganda returned to the continental soccer show piece after 39 years of waiting.

    Mr. Edu was also taken on a guided tour of the 102.1 FUFA fm where he was given the chance together with FUFA President to address the listeners.

    The FUFA President was excited about Mr. Edu’s visit.

    “We are very excited as FUFA and on behalf of FUFA i would like to thank the Managing director of NIC for doing a cutesy call, normally meetings are over issues but when the MD come and say he’s just making a cutesy call, and the message which have been delivered in the short meeting which we had in my office, it is very encouraging to say how much we are trying as an institution to get better.”

    “And this is coming from the people who are putting money into the game, and this kind of assurance gives us a lot of energy to continue going forward.”

    Uganda Cranes safely arrived in Niamey on Monday evening ahead of the three Nations tournament with an aim of further preparations for Project Cameroon 2019.

    The Qualification campaign for the 2019 Total Nations Cup to be hosted by Cameroon resumes in September with Uganda Cranes hosting Tanzania at Mandel National Stadium.

    The team is accommodated at Hotel Tenere in Niamey the Capital of  Niger and later managed to conduct their maiden training session at the Stade General Seyni Koutche outer pitch.

    Twenty-one players were part of the session under the close eye of Head Coach Sebastian Desabre, his Assistant Mathias Lule, Goalkeeper Coach Fred Kajoba and the fitness instructor D’Antonio Gerome.

    The players yet to join- Captain Denis Onyango and Moses Opondo are expected to join the rest on Tuesday evening.

    Emmaneul Okwi and Joseph Ochaya connected with the team at Bole Airport in Addis Ababa while Bevis Mugabi, Yunus Sentamu and Edrisa Lubega had earlier arrived in Niamey.

    Holders KCCA FC overcame Synergy FC in the Semi-final 1st Leg of Stanbic Uganda Cup by 1:0 away in Masaka Recreation Stadium on Monday 28th May.

    Striker Patrick Kaddu scored the vital goal for KCCA FC in the 22nd minute of the game to seal the victory against the Big League relegated side at Masaka Recreational Grounds.

    The hosts (Synergy FC) showcased a good performance with a lot of skills and endurance right from kickoff to the final whistle

    “We got more chances than KCCA FC but our strikers were not clinical enough to convert the chances,  I’m sure we can reverse the results in the 2nd Leg, we can score a goal away and fight for the winner” Synergy FC Coach Brian Senyondo.

    KCCA FC who eliminated Big league side Kitara FC in the Quarter finals maintained the score despite the hard pressing from Synergy FC

    “Our opponents performed better than us, my players underrated them – we underperformed, my players are very inconsistent and unreliable when they win today they think they’re on top of the World.” KCCA FC Head Coach Mike Mutebi.

    Meanwhile, in the first Semi-final on Sunday 27th in Wankulukuku between Villa SC and Vipers SC settled for a goalless draw.

    Cranes officials at Entebbe International Airport preparing to depart for a three Nation Tournament in Niger on Monday morning 28th May 2018.

    The Uganda National senior football team The Cranes has departed this morning (3am) to Niamey, Niger for double engagements in a three Nation tournament started from 27th May-2th June 2018.

    The Cranes will play Central African Republic on Wednesday 30th May and the hosts Niger on Saturday 2nd June.

    Players who have been training with the team at Lugogo Stadium travelled in a contingent that departed from Entebbe International aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

    The rest of the Cranes players, Onyango Denis and Emanuel Okwi will connect with the National team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia while England based defender Bevis Mugabi, Yunus Sentamu, Moses Opondo and Edrisa Lubega will join the team in Niger.

    Meanwhile, Gor Mahia’s Godfrey Walusimbi was left behind due to his Club’s local engagements. He was replaced by SC Villa’s midfielder Allan Kyambadde.

    The opening Match between Niger and CAR ended in a 3:3 draw on Sunday 27th May 2018.

    Commission of inquiry into Officiation Allegations starts work

    The FUFA Commission of inquiry into match officiation allegations has started its work. The Committee set up by the Emergency Executive Committee on Friday 11th May 2018, rolled off its assignments on Friday at Ivys’ Hotel Wakaliga.

    The Commission was set following information received of consistent allegations from a spectrum of stakeholders regarding the FUFA Competitions match officiation in general.

    The Committee also received the Terms of Reference from FUFA.

    ‘The commission’s scope shall be specifically limited to Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League, Uganda Cup, The FUFA Drum, FUFA Juniors League, FUFA Women Elite league and the FUFA Women’s Cup’ said the FUFA President who addressed the press conference.

    FUFA has also confirmed that media expert Douglas Mazune will be the Commission’s Communications Officer.

    The FUFA Drum-Match Day 5: Points up for grabs as teams return for crucial stage

    All Provincial Teams will be eager to name full squads with more quality players when The FUFA Drum returns with match day 5 this weekend on 2nd and 3rd June across the country.

    Local based stars like Paul Mucureezi and those playing abroad like Denis Onyango, Hassan Wasswa, Salim Jamal have not been able to play for their Province Team but have been following proceedings of the tournament.

    With all players in recess following the end of the domestic Leagues both in Uganda and away where they play, the Head coaches of the 16 teams will be hopeful of making use of the services of these star players.

    ‘I know how much I miss playing for my Province. There is enough time for me to play for them during the offside. We need to collect good points from the remaining two games for our team’ said Mucureezi.

    It is not clear what kind of involvement and support players like Onyango, Salim Jamal, Yunus Sentamu, Tony Mawejje, Murushidi Juuko will have towards their teams.

    However putting in mind how much they treasure their cultures and traditions, it is highly likely that they will play a key role either on the pitch on offer any moral support.

    Statistics after Match Day 4 of The FUFA Drum. Kampala is the only team that has won all its 4 games so far while Sebei are searching for their maiden point.

     Tooro plays friendly match ahed of clash with Ankole. 

    Kyarusozi Select 2-2 Tooro Province. As Tooro prepares to face Ankole Province Team, a friendly match was played on Sunday in Kyarusozi.

    Kwezi Harrison scored a brace fro Kyarusozi while Ronald Nyanya also got a brace for the visitors.

     

    West Nile names Squad
