    Mike Mutebi-KCCA FC

The Sc Villa-Vipers rivalry is good for the game. The fans will enjoy the match. We are happy with the draw against Synergy but it will be an interesting fixture. They play in the FUFA Big League but have good players. It was good to bring the legends to be part of this exercise. These are some of the things FUFA is undertaking in professionalizing the game.

    Eddie Butindo-Technical Director Vipers SS

The grand finale of the season will be interesting in both the league and Stanbic Uganda cup. The three teams still in contention for the Azam Uganda Premier League are also in the cup. We shall play to our ability to get the best results. The teams have raised their levels and competition is becoming stiffer and stiffer.

Wasswa Bossa-Sc Villa Jogoo Head coach

We look forward to playing this final. My dream is to beat Vipers and make the final. We are determined to feature in the last stage of the Stanbic Uganda cup.

FUFA mourns former football leader Adoko Nekyon

Football has been hit again with news following the demise of its Honorary President and former FUFA Chairman Al Hajji Adoko Akbar Nekyon who passed away on Friday 4th May 2018 at Nsambya Hospital.

Alhajji Akbar who served as FUFA Chairman in 1968 suffered a stroke which led to the deterioration of his health until his death.

‘We have received the sad news of the demise of our former FUFA Chairman Al Hajji Adoko Akbar Nekyon. This is a cruel moment in Ugandan football losing historical men like Nekyon. Football has already lost elders this year. We feel sad when we lose another of our former leaders’ said FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

‘Our elder Al Hajji Adoko Akbar Nekyon played a key role in football development in the country when he was appointed FUFA Chairman in 1968 and helped form the National football league in the same year. He will always be remembered for his great contribution to the game added FUFA President.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the departed historical football administrator.

  • Opinion: FUFA President on Express and SC Villa; The two teams are victims of Failure to Plan Long Term in the Mid-90s

It has never been like right now that the Ugandan football brand needs the Express brand.  On our road to recovery of league football, an indigenous football club, a continental brand with arguably the biggest history and following is needed in the mix of football rivalry which is the DNA of league football
However, we must appreciate that the problems of Express FC are just symptoms of failure by Ugandan football to plan for the future in the early 90s. We are reaping what was sowed. It is not Only Express but the same problem at SC Villa and only current sporting results are making the situation look different.
Personally I don’t believe in winning the league or relegation as the solution to SC Villa and Express problems. The positions could be reversed next season with Express attempting to win the league SC Villa fighting relegation. They are both plastic situations. The real problem is still not addressed.
The bitter truth is that even if Express is relegated or it survives and even if SC Villa wins the League or not, they continue to slowly but surely grind to a halt. This deaccelerating process started in the mid-90s after the SC Villa and Express FC failed to plan and build on the Continental Sporting Success of the early 90s. It is very unfair to entirely condemn the current leaderships at these clubs for the current status. However, history will judge them if they choose now than later to reorganize the clubs for the long term. If nothing is done now, both of these great football brands will be extinct in the next 10 years. Only poor organization of the competitors have made them survive this long
As a football family, we must sit down and plan long term for these historic football brands. The Express and Villa brands are victims of rich people investing their personal monies into clubs and should wake up to a new era where it is a game of numbers and which numbers they already have but continually dwindling. Who is the rich man or which institution owns Onduparak? In my view *ONLY* Onduparak is currently running the correct club model successfully yet Express and SC Villa have the advantage of the Brands and the numbers
Whether Express is relegated or not, FUFA  will continue to offer Express FC and any other Club the FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda Programme especially during the off season. The programme is a long term solution not a fixer. We opted to withhold the programme at Express not to be mistaken to tamper with sporting results at Express. We hope and pray that Express FC survives but unfortunately we cannot with the rules and sporting results
    It is just my Opinion

    FUFA launches Anthem, Unveils Flag

Identity is a key aspect to any organization. It offers a sense of belonging and uniqueness as represented by distinctive traditions, colors, logos, themes, anthems and flags among others.

In a bid to transform the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) into a more corporate body, the local football governing body has gone through the aforementioned steps to create a unique brand since 2013.A case in point is the FUFA logo that changed in 2014.

On Tuesday, the Federation officially unveiled the new FUFA anthem and FUFA flag in a function held at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Anthem composed by FUFA President Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo and sung by music diva Irene Ntale depicts the spirit of nationalism calling upon all Ugandans, fans, Sponsors and Government to rally their support towards the different National teams.

The Anthem as well embeds the spirit of unity calling the different stakeholders to be one family and develop the game together.

FUFA President indicated that he got the inspiration of writing the Anthem while on a football trip and stated that this will help to foster unity among the different football clusters.

“I got the inspiration in the middle of the night on a football trip in one of the Arab Countries, I wrote the lyrics and shared with people who know music and I believe the Anthem will be a factor for unification. Music is as source of inspiration and even in wars, people always sing to get motivated. I’m glad that we have continued to build regalia and brand of the institution of FUFA.” He said.
