The dates and venue for the 2016/17 FUFA Women Elite League playoffs have been confirmed by the FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe.

The Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo in Kampala will host the final four games of the league.

The two semi-final play offs will take place on Wednesday, 31st May 2017.

Uganda Martyr’s Lubaga will host UCU Lady Cardinals in the early game at 1:30 p.m before the defending champions Kawempe Muslim enter the frey against Olila at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, regular season action in the Women Elite League continues on Saturday with three games. Hadijah ‘Lady Mouriho’ Namuyanja’s She Mak hosts Uganda Martyrs Lubaga at Makerere, London Stallions plays the reverse fixture against Western United at Kyambogo and Olila Women take on Eastern Heroes.

Sunday will see the reigning champions Kawempe Muslim play Western United at their Kawempe fortress. KAwempe has not lost a league match at their home since inception of the FFA Women Elite League for the third seaosn running.

Sharp FC qualifies to represent Western Region in the FUFA Big League

Rushere 1-2 Sharp FC

Sharp FC from Kabale district, has qualified to represent Western Region in next season’s FUFA Big League-the 2^nd tier League from which teams storm the top flight-Azam Uganda Premier League.

The youthful side from South Western Uganda district registered a 2-1 win over regional league debutants Rushere FC from Kiruhura district in a tense final played on Wednesday at Kyamate grounds in Ntungamo Municipality.

A 47^th minute strike by Cleophus Fiat put Sharp ahead before Ismail Luyombya leveled the scores on 67 minutes from a penalty.

However, Jonhson Tumuramye restored Sharp’s lead six minutes from time, after heading home from a corner kick.

Wild cerebrations were all-over the travelling Kabale supporters end as their Kiruhura counterparts remained wondering what had happened at the final whistle.

Rushere coach Noah Mugerwa, who had to take some minutes consoling his crestfallen players, said they had realized the mistakes at the end of the game that they will have to come back strongly next season.

Rushere FC which was playing in their maiden Regional league after gaining promotion from the Division I last year had established themselves as favourites to gain promotion, especially when they played and finished top of the Ankole group.

They went up against Rukungiri United in the semifinal playoffs whom they defeated 3-1 before facing Sharp FC, who had eliminated fancied Mbarara FC 1-0 in the other semifinal.

Sharp FC will be the second side from Kabale to play at the second most prestigious local league tier, after Creamland that qualified in the 2012/2013 season but never completed. .

Ntungamo Municipality Mayor Jacob Kafureka, who presided over the final, cautioned the players against love for money that will make them forget about their talents.

FT: Western United 5-2 London Stallions

Western United and London Stallions faced off on Wednesday afternoon at Rugando stadium, Western Uganda in a bottom of the table clash. The stakes were high as prior to this match both teams had not tasted victory this season in the league. However Western United collected the points in style winning 5-2 against London Stallions.

With 19 matches between them, only two goals had been scored between the two sides. However with the relegation monster on their necks, Western United devised their tactical strategy as they managed to score 5 times against London Stallions who netted twice in the Elizabeth Group headed by defending champions Kawempe Muslim yet to drop a point this season in 11 outings.

Western’s goals were scored by Lukia Aringo who got a hat trick, Monic Asimire and Doreen Namugerwa had a goal each while Agnes Atuyambe and Stellah Nalwanga were on taragte for the visitors.

The Uganda Cranes Regional Tours: Micho impressed by players’ attitude ahead of trip to Fort Portal

Uganda Cranes kicked off preparations on Wedensday morning at Mandela National stadium, Namboole for their upcoming tight schedules at both local and international level.
Head coach Milutin Sredejovic and his technical team of assistant Moses Basena and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba took players through the drills at the National stadium.
The team coach expressed his delight about the players response ahead of the Uganda Cranes Regional tour of Kitara on Sunday in Fort Portal.
‘I’m excited about the players response but unfortunately I cant consider them all for the match. On Friday I will name the final 22 players for the match’ said Micho.

After the training the coach named 12 players on the standby list in case of any eventualities but will be reconsidered for training when preparations for the 2018 CHAN qualifiers resume.

The 12 players are; Ibrahim Kibumba, Ssenfuka Rahmat, Oromchan Villa, Banga Fraouk, Mubitu Yisa, Kapampa Eddy, Kagwa Pius, Wafula
Solomon, Balinya Juma, Yiga Muhammad, Sebudde Timothy and Okello Maxwell.

Training resumes on Thursday morning at Mandela National Stadium starting 9 O’clock.

93rd FUFA General Assembly: Delegates get Communication, Kitara region to host

The 93rd FUFA General Assembly will be hosted by Kitara region at the Kabalega Resort Hotel on the 5th August 2017 starting at 9:30 a.m.

A formal and public notification was passed in the Daily Monitor of 2nd May 2017 (page 35).

According to the FUFA Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson, the FUFA Secretariat will keep notifying all the concerned stake holders and key parties on relevant matters about the 93rd FUFA General Assembly.

CAF Confederation cup: KCCA overcomes Tunisia’s Club Africain
CAF Confederation Cup (Group A):
- KCCA 2-1 Club Africain
Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederation cup, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC defeated Tunisian side Club Africain 2-1 at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo in Kampala on Tuesday.

Mokhtar Belkhither scored for the visitors in the 18th minute for the game’s opener.

Derrick Nsibambi found the equalizer in the first added minute of the first half.

Tom Masiko scored the winner in the 63rd minute with a stunning shot from 35 yards.

The maximum points for KCCA put them on three points, same as Club Africain.

The other group A match between Rivers United and FUS Rabat will be played on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

FIFA President Congratulates KCCA FC upon winning 12th League title

Good things are flowing in at KCCA FC. Having won their 12th League title (Azam Uganda Premier League), FIFA has sent a congratulatory message to Mike Mutebi’s boys.

KCCA FC received the League title on Saturday presented to their winning captain Denis Okot by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at the Philip Omondi stadium.

The news has since reached the headquarters of the world soccer governing body FIFA in Zurich hence the FIFA President’s congratulatory message dated 16th May, 2017 to be delivered to KCCA FC through the FUFA President.

Uganda cup 2016/17 Update: Semifinal dates set, final now to be played in June

The FUFA Competitions committee has made adjustments and pushed forward the date for the final of the 43^rd edition of FUFA Uganda Cup

The final which was earlier scheduled to be played on May 27^th has now been pushed to June 10^th, 2017 after the dates of remaining semifinal fixtures were also adjusted according to a communication released and signed by Ali Mwebe the FUFA Competitions Director.

The two legged semifinal fixtures involving newly crowned Azam Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC and Uganda Cup record winners Express FC have been rescheduled with the first leg now set to be played on Friday May 26 at Philip Omondi Stadium while the return leg to be played four days later on May 30^th at Wankulukuku stadium.

The return leg of the first semifinal fixture between Sadolin Paints FC and Paidha Black Angels is set to be played on Saturday May 27^th, 2017 at Namboole stadium. The ‘Black Angels’ have their eyes set on to the final that is going to be hosted in the West Nile region in Arua district after their 2-0 win that gives them a slim advantage against their hosts.

KCCA FC’s Derrick Nsibambi leads the scorers’ charts with 6 goal followed by Vipers’ Erisa Ssekisambu on 5 and Kalanda Frank (Soana FC) who is tied on 4 goals with Masavu’s Lumoro Peter.

CHAN 2018: Preparations continue as Micho names 44 players

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic has named provisional squad of 44 players to start training on Wednesday 24th May ahead of the forthcoming international fixtures for the local based players to feature in the Nations for African Championship (CHAN).

Training starts 9am on Wednesday at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

Hassan Wasswa Mawanda has also been included in the team for training purposes as the 2019 Nations Cup qualifier against Cape Verde is around the corner.

South Sudan will host the first leg tie on 14th July, 2017 with the return leg a week later in Kampala.

The aggregate winner will face either Rwanda or Tanzania for a ticket to the 2018 Total CHAN finals in Kenya.

Uganda has played at three different CHAN final tournaments since 2011 only missing out in the 2009 edition. The Cranes played in Sudan (2011), South Africa (2014) and Rwanda (2016).

Kampala Queens Women Football Club posted headline making story following a 3-2 victory over UCU Lady Cardinals in Mukono in the FUFA Women Elite League.

UCU headed into the game already assured of a place in the play offs for the second successive season while Kampala Queens were playing for pride to complete the seaosn on a high. Both teams never disappointed their fans on Sunday evening at the Univeristy’s Campus.

A brace from Moureen Kinavudori was not enough though to save the hosts from defeat. Zaina Namuleme, playing against her club replicated Kinavudori’s statistics on the day as she hit the back of the net twice with Damalie Matama getting the other for Kampala Queens who returned to the Capital with maximum points.

In the other fixtures played over the weekend:

Cissy Nakawala scored the game’s solitary goal as Mutesa Royal University edged Rines 1-0.

Gafford Ladies’ poor show in the league continued on Sunday as they lost to Eastern Heroes 1-0.

She Mak who struggled at the beginning of the season but gained momentum at the final bend, secured 3 points off Ajax Queens with a hard fought 1-0 victory. Ana Koubusingye’s lone strike handed Hadijah Namuyanja’s side the much needed win.

Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Secodndary School Women Footabll club, yet to lose this season (won all their 11 games so far) tops Elizabeth group with 33 points. UCU Lady Cardinals are in 2nd place with 23 points.

In the Victoria group, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga are at the summit having collected 26 points while Olila Women FC are 4 points behind in 2nd position.

FUFA Polls 2017: Confirmed Delegates from the 8 Regions

The FUFA Polls 2017 took a big step and got closer to the Elective Assembly due on 5th August in Masindi by conducting elections at the Regional Level (Eastern, Western, West Nile, Northern, Kampala, Buganda, Kitara and north East).

Jinja Secondary School won their first ever Copa national schools football title on Saturday after overcoming 8 time winners, St Mary’s Kitende in a closely contested final played at the Masaka Recreational stadium on Saturday before a capacity crowd.

Joel Madondo scored the opener for Jinja S.S before Kennedy Kasozi found the equalizer two minutes from full time and force the game into post match penalties.

Jinja S.S won 4-3 in the shoot out as they earned their first ever national schools football title.

The tournament record winners Kibuli S.S overcame Nakaseke International 1-0 to take third place and be guaranteed of a slot at this year’s East Africa Secondary school games that will be hosted in Gulu district by St Joseph College, Layibi.

State Minister of sports Hon. Charles Bakabulindi was chief guest as he handled over the trophy and medals to the best three schools and excelling individuals.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations was ably represented at the tournament by the FUFA Youth Development Officer, Bashir Mutyaba as well as coach Mathias Lule who pitched camp in Masaka for two weeks to help identify excelling exceptional talents who will be followed up to be incorporated in the national under age teams.

St Julian’s Abdallah Ssenyonga finished with 16 goals to take the top scorers’ boot. Ivan Wani of Jinja S.S was the most valuable player (MVP).

A total of 60 schools took part at the nationals having successfully qualified from the respective regions across the country.

KCCA FC crowned Azam Uganda Premier League champions 2016/17 season

KCCA FC have been crowned Azam Uganda Premier League champions for the second successive season hence defending their title.

KCCA FC who also won the 2015/16 title amassed a whopping 66 points from 30 games to retain the premier league title. KCCA FC fend-off challenge from seasoned challengers and record champions SC Villa who finished second with eight points shy of the champions on 58 points.

Two first half goals from Geoffrey Serunkuuma and Tom Masiko gave the champions a deserving 2-1 victory against the already releagted Sadolin side in their last fixture played Philip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

After bagging the league trophy, KCCA FC are now in line to win their first double in the club’s history if they can eliminate bitter rivals and Uganda Cup semifinal opponents Express FC to face winner between Paidha Black Angels and Sadolin FC who are facing off in the other semifinal. Paidha Black Angels however holds a 2-0 goal cushion over Sadolin.

FUFA partners with European Union to mark 60th Anniversary

The European Union Ambassador to Uganda Kristian Schmidt in company of the EU Press and Information Officer Political Section Emmanuel Gyezaho paid a visit to FUFA House, Mengo on Wednesday.

The EU will be celebrating 60 years of Integration and the high prolife Diplomat was at FUFA House to share a few ideas about the journey with the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

The FUFA President couldn’t hide his excitement for the Ambassador’s visit.

‘I thank the European Union for having the confidence in us thus the partnership ahead of celebrating 60 years of integration. Being trusted by such a big institution means we have kept track of our performance’ said Magogo.

Magogo who is fresh from being appointed on the CAF Executive Committee and various committees running football on the continent, applauded the EU for the contribution to Uganda’s infrastructural development which has also helped out football activities.

The FUFA President highlighted the Northern by pass which has eased transport to and from Mandela National Stadium which is the main host stadium of the Uganda Cranes international fixtures.

The EU Ambassador extended gratitude to Eng. Moses Magogo upon his recent appointment as member of the CAF Executive Committee and also congratulated Uganda upon qualifying for AFCON 2017 after 38 years and Uganda emerging as the African National team of the year 2016.

The Union has organized a Sports Gala is one of the activities to celebrate 60 years of the European Union integration.

‘We have decided to partner with FUFA to help us organize the sports gala especially the 5 aside football tournament’ added Schmidt

The sports gala will be held at Kabira Country club on Saturday 20^th May 2017.

The Ambassador addressed the media at a press conference also attended by the FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu.

FUFA Electoral Committee has declared candidates and released designated dates for elections of all the 8 FUFA regions.

The successful candidates who were declared will contest for various positions in their respective regions.

Uganda Cranes regional tours 2017: Kitara Region releases 20 man team
Uganda Cranes regional tours 2017:
- Kitara Region Vs Uganda Cranes – 28^th May in Fort Portal
The Kitara Region Football Association Technical committee has summoned a strong 20 man squad ready to face the national team, Uganda Cranes on 28^th May 2017 in Fort Portal.

The players summoned are expected to report in Fort Portal by Wednesday 24th May 2017 (latest 1pm) for training.

Uganda Cranes has this year toured the Eastern region in Kamuli and West Nile (Paidha) where they won 3-1 and lost 1-0 respectively.

The essence of such tours which were started two years ago is to take the national team brand closer to the fans in their respective localities.

Also, it is another plat form to show case talent that has not yet been exposed.

Uganda Cranes’ last visit of the Kitara region dates as far back as 19^th September 2015 when the national side won convincingly 6-0 at the Boma stadium in Masindi before a record crowd that included the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, delegates among other dignitaries.

Team skipper, Robert Sentongo led by example with the second goal on six minutes.

S.C Villa’s midfielder, Ambrose Kirya scored the third after goal keeper, Christopher Kusima spilled a hard effort from Ceaser Okhuti to make it three on ten minutes.

The day’s hero, Sentongo got the fourth. Muzamiru Mutyaba and striker Frank Kalanda scored the other two goals for the national team to register the biggest victory since the regional tours’ inception.

FIFA Connect attracts club officials as workshop closes on Tuesday
The FIFA Connect workshop that opened on Monday 15^th May 2017 at Ivys Hotel climaxed today with the training of clubs and Regional Football Association stakeholders.

‘We are now equipped with all tools inclusive of a formidable test portal which can be used at all times for further training and training of new stakeholders, programmes will be extended with invitations and visits to various Regional Football Associations and clubs affiliated to FUFA’. Said Ali Mwebe

He added by thanking FIFA and FUFA for organizing such a workshop and the commended competitions Management functions in the federation and said that they are facilitated with properly registered players and club officials.

Speaking on behalf of participants, KCCA FC Chief Executive Officer David Tamale expressed his delight for such a wonderful opportunity by FIFA and FIFA which will help them keepo track of thier players world over

“The Clubs are direct beneficiaries from such FIFA and FUFA programmes that we shall at all times have information on our players at fingertips, matters of processing transfers and loans locally shall also be made easy by this system and above all, we shall now gain financially through claim of solidarity and training compensation from our youth players when they turn professional’ said an excited Tamale
