Oasis Annext Primary School from Arua in West Nile region will play against Rays of Grace Primary School from Buikwe, Buganda region in the inaugural final of FUFA Primary Schools chmapionship code named ‘Odilo’ on Wednesday 7^th August 2019 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

For starters, fans from West Nile and Buganda will keenly follow this contest with huge interest. West Nile and Buganda played in the final of the inaugural edition of the FUFA Drum in Arua last year. The home side (West Nile Province) conceded a late goal to hand the trophy to Buganda. Wednesday’s final will provide another platform for West Nile to bury the ghosts against Buganda’s representatives in the Odilo Championship started by FUFA for Primary schools in Uganda.

The final kicks off at 4pm in Njeru.

Oasis Annext overpowered Eastern region winners Busumbu Primary School with a convincing 5-1 victory. Oasis got the lead from Toure Yahaya before Sharif Twaha hit the net twice. Fideli Moses and Ajesto Bushira were also on target for the West Nile champions. Wabesa Hussein scored for Busumbu Primary School.

During the second semifinal on Monday evening, Rays of Grace edged Nothern region champions Bright Valley Primary School 2-1. Kasanya Leonard scored a brace for Rays of Grace while Oyella Christopher for Bright Valley.

The two schools (Oasis Annex and Rays of Grace) will represent Uganda in the upcoming FEASSA Games in Arusha, Tanzania from 15^th-25^th August 2019. FUFA will facilitate both teams.

In the classification matches, Citizen Parents from Kampala region overcame Western region champions Green Valley Primary School by 2-1. Balaba Francis scored a brace while Aryatwijuka Viera pulled off a consolation for Green Valley.

The final stage of the FUFA Primary Schools Championship ‘ODILO’ kicked off today in Njeru where the finals will be held until the 7th of August 2019 when the grand finale will be played to determine which school becomes the winners of the tourney in its inaugural edition.

In the first game, Bright Valley Primary School from Gulu District and Northern region overcame Green Valley Primary school representing Western in from Mbarara.

Both Thomas Juma and Ayella Christopher scored a brace each to give Bright Valley a 4-1 Victory over Green valley. The lone goal for Green valley primary school was scored by Musimenta Martin the dying minutes of the game to console his team.

TOTAL CHAN 2020 Qualifiers: Uganda Cranes out-wit Somalia, progress to next round
TOTAL CHAN 2020 Qualifiers (2^nd Leg, 1^st Round):
- Uganda Cranes 4-1 Somalia (Uganda Cranes progress 7-2 on aggregate)
Uganda Cranes easily progressed to the next stage of the TOTAL CHAN 2020 qualifiers after a 4-1 victory in the second round for the TOTAL CHAN 2020 qualifiers before a fully packed Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

Striker Henry Patrick Kaddu and Allan Kyambadde scored for a dominant Ugandan side that qualify to the next round 7-2 on aggregate.

The consolation for the visiting team came late in the game through Daud Abdullahi Tubal as Ugand

Kaddu scored the opening goal through a well struck kick from the penalty mark after three minutes.

Kyambadde scored the second in the 36th minute and Kaddu wrapped up the first half with another penalty two minutes to the break.

Three minutes into the second half, Kaddu completed his hat-trick with a great glancing header off Okello’s curling corner-kick.

Daud scored the consolation for Somalia in the closing stages of the game.

Uganda Cranes will now face the winner between South Sudan and Burundi during the final round of qualification for the CHAN 2020 tournament.

South Sudan will host Burundi on Sunday, 4th August 2019 at Lugogo. Burundi won the first leg 2-0 in Bujumbura last weekend.

The final tournament for CHAN 2020 will be hosted by Cameroon.

The interim Uganda Cranes head coach Abdallah Mubiru has released the starting line up to face Somalia at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

Sadam Juma, Mustafa Mujuzi are the two changes to the team that won 3-1 away last weekend in Djibouti during the first leg.

The rest of the 9 players who started away maintain their slots.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Somalia will face the winner between South Sudan and Burundi during the final round of qualification for the CHAN 2020 tournament.

South Sudan will host Burundi on Sunday, 4th August 2019 at Lugogo. Burundi won the first leg away 2-0 in Bujumbura last weekend.

CHAN 2020: Uganda vs Somalia; Mubiru wants his players to win with flair

The Uganda Cranes is set to take on Somalia and not just to win but to do so with flair and glamour to the appeasement of their dear fans.

According to interim Uganda Cranes coach Abdallah Mubiru his charges are in the best possible shape ahead of the return leg of the first round of the CHAN 2020 qualifiers. The Cranes take on Somalia on Saturday at the Star Times stadium in Lugogo beaming with confidence after a 3-1 win in the first leg fixture played last weekend in Djibouti when Somalia played hosts.

‘I like the attitude of my players. We have a two-goal cushion but we are not getting carried away. We are going to play to win and hope to do so in style. We tried the same away though our opponents tried as much to make it difficult for us but now we shall be in front of our fans with the home advantage and crowd behind us. It will be a different story’ stated Mubiru

‘In our training the whole of this week we have mainly focused on efficiency and finishing off our chances because we got many in Djibouti but couldn’t utilize them. The score could have been six or more goals. We will also endeavor to be extra careful at the back because we conceded a late goal in the game that was easily avoidable simply because we were pressing so high and everybody was lost in the moment hence laxity’ noted Mubiru.

Two faces that featured in the first leg will not be part of the team on Saturday as team captain Timothy Awany and Tadeo Lwanga have since been released from camp to allow them finalise personal career matters.

Proline FC solid defender and Stanbic Uganda Cup 2019 MVP Mustafa Mujuzi will step in for Awany to skipper the team against Somalia. He will be deputised by Muzamir Mutyaba.

‘Mujuzi is naturally a leader with such great attributes. He is very co-operative, friendly and listens to everybody and I trust he will steer this team very well’ Mubiru commented on Mujuzi’s appointment.

The winner of this fixture will play either South Sudan or Burundi who face off on the same pitch on Sunday 4^th August 2019.

Circular: FUFA issues standard reference for nomination of referees on to FIFA List
The 20^th FUFA Executive Committee which sat on 25^th May 2019 at Brovad Hotel in Masaka discussed and deliberated on policy measures to ensure Ugandan Referees get strategic opportunities to be appointed by CAF and FIFA for International matches. Key among the factors considered was the age category of candidates for FIFA nominated referees, the CAF recommendations and general performance of those Ugandan referees already on the FIFA list.

Based on the above objective and parameters, the 20^th FUFA Executive Committee passed the following decisions to be reinforced with immediate effect.

1a. Any Ugandan referee currently on the FIFA list who takes two (2) years without being appointed for any International match shall be automatically withdrawn from the list to create an opportunity for the nomination of another person/referee not on the list.

1b. Any Ugandan referee currently on the FIFA list who takes five (5) years without being appointed for a major International tournament is susceptible to be withdrawn from the list to create an opportunity for the nomination of another person/referee not on the list.
1. The entry age for any new Ugandan person to be nominated on the FIFA list shall be as mentioned below in order to have appropriate referees that CAF and FIFA can develop for higher levels.
2. 25 to 30 years for the Referee being nominated on the FIFA list for the first time.
3. 23 to 30 years for the Assistant Referee being nominated on the FIFA list for the first time.
All stakeholders are duly informed that the measures are to enable FUFA/Uganda to develop Referees to higher levels in International Competitions.

FUFA releases list of Referees’ Assessors for 2019/2020 season
The 20^th FUFA Executive Committee that sat on Saturday 25^th May 2019 at Brovad Hotel in Masaka received a full report of the FUFA Referees Assessors Course conducted from 17^th – 20^th March 2019 at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in collaboration with CAF. The course was conducted by CAF Instructor – Mr. Celestine Ntagungira (Rwanda) and the report revealed the following:-

Report outcome

A total of 57 Referees Assessors attended the 3 day examinable course and results of all the assessments released as follows;
- 30 participants passed in Category A (passed all the exams and were recommended fit to assess matches)
- 16 participants passed in Category B (passed two crucial exams written and report writing only).
- 11 participants in Category C (did not pass written and report writing).
Decisions of FUFA Executive Committee
1. The report was adopted by the 20^th FUFA Executive Committee and passed the following decisions on Licensing of the Referees Assessors in Uganda:-
- All CAF and FIFA accredited Assessors together with those who passed in Category A of the Referees Assessors course, shall be licensed as Grade A Referees Assessors for a period of two (2) seasons and shall be the only ones to be appointed for 1^st Division League and all other FUFA Competitions that fall in top classification.
- Referees Assessors who passed in Category B in the Referees Assessors course shall be licensed as Grade B Referees Assessors for a period of two (2) seasons to be appointed to assess 2^nd Division League and other FUFA Competitions as assigned by FRSC for matches that are classified as appropriate.
- Participants who did not pass (Category C) shall not be appointed to any FUFA Competition Matches, unless after undergoing another course and obtain the pass mark.
- FUFA may organise a course for promotion from one Grade to another, as shall be deemed appropriate.
The Assessors shall collect the Licenses from FUFA Competitions Department and the License shall apply for two FUFA Football seasons expiring 30^th June 2021.

FUFA may organise a course for category C, any new applicants or promotional courses that may enable them to be promoted to another category. The FRSC shall determine the appropriate period and conditions to do so.

The inaugural edition of the FUFA Primary Schools championship (ODILO) has reached the closing stages with the draws for the final held on Wednesday.

With the different regional winners already known, the stage is set as eight teams will compete for the ultimate prize between 4^th – 7^thAugust 2019 at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Buikwe District.

Each of the eight FUFA regions will have a representative in the final as seen below;

FUFA President, Moses Magogo who graced the draw function believes this is a tournament that will help in the growth and development of players at a tender age.

‘It is one thing to dream of an idea but another to fulfill that dream. As FUFA, we are proud of what the Uganda Sports Secondary Schools Associations (USSSA) are doing at that level but we thought it was important to have a competition for the primary schools’ said Magogo.

The President stressed that Odilo will help in the multiplier effect because more people will get involved.

‘It is important to cultivate interest for young people at this level. Besides, there will be more involvement of coaches, players and parents through this tournament. It is a beginning but we are excited about the first edition’

The first edition has only catered for boys’ football but the FUFA President confirmed that girl’s football will be included starting next year.

FUFA Vice President, Justus Mugisha who is the chairman of the Odilo championship believes this is a good step to help FUFA realize its mission of becoming the number one footballing nation in Africa on and off the field.

‘As FUFA, we seek to become the best footballing country in Africa and this is an input in realizing that target. This is a tournament that is played countrywide and will help to identify talent at a tender age’ stated Mugisha

Media personality Grace Mbabazi of NBS TV picked Rays of Grace Junior School from the pot

FUFA Competitions Director, Aisha Nalule confirmed the federation will cater for meals, accommodation, and transport (to and fro) for all the eight teams. In addition, all the teams will be provided with fully branded jerseys and five balls to each team to be used during the championship playoffs.

The coveted title will be taken for keeps by the school/ team that will emerge the champion.

It should be noted that at this stage, a team (school) that represents a given region is allowed to add players from other schools but from the same region.

About the inaugural edition

The championship started with competitions at the district level with 62 of the 95 District Football Associations taking part.

From the district level, the winners at the respective districts qualified for the regional championship. Eastern region had the biggest participation with 14 districts taking part.

A total of 375 schools from 62 districts featured in the inaugural edition with about 12,000 pupils taking part as players in 740 matches.

In addition, the tournament has had 500 referees officiating games from the district to the regional level.

Buyende District Football Association celebrates Magogo’s new position at CAF

The residents of Kagulu in Irundu, Buyende district warmly welcomed the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo on Monday back from Cairo, Egypt where he was voted as CAF Executive Committee member during the 41st CAF Ordinary General Assembly.

A mammoth crowd gathered as early as 9am to receive one of their own and celebrate with him for the recent achievements in football administration.

A procession that included various district football officials and political family matched from Kamuli town to Irundu.

FUFA top brass led by 1^st Vice President Justus Mugisha, 2^nd Vice President Darius Mugoye, Executive Committee Members Ronnie Kalema, Chris Kalibbala and Hamid Juma were also in attendance to enjoy the fruits of hard work and a great moment organised by Buyende District Football Association.

Locals enjoy a memorable moment with former Uganda Cranes stars

Eng. Magogo and Uganda Cranes brands are very famous countrywide. However the past stars of the Uganda Cranes got the limelight in equal measure when the locals in Buyende got to know that players like Hakim Magumba, Hassan Mubiru, Fred Tamale, Sam Kawalya and Alex Isabirye were part of the entourage that travelled with FUFA President.

Irundu Select faced off with the FUFA President’s XI in a ceremonial match organised to climax the day’s activities at Irundu Township Primary school.

However the locals ‘denied’ their own son to end the day on a high. Like fate may have it, the home boys’ team- Irundu Select Side defeated President’s XI led by Magogo and other Cranes stars in a football match. Irundu won the match 2-0 thanks to an own goal by Andy Lule and Dickens Adams.

‘I am very excited to meet the people of this place where I was born, raised and did my exams from particularly at Kagulu Primary school from P.1 to P.7. I am one of the products of this place but it’s a moment of congratulations and happiness for the people of Buyende that their own son is leading Uganda particularly in the game of football and has been able to achieve a lot like qualifying the Uganda Cranes twice to AFCON after 39 years of awaiting. I have also been voted as one of the people to lead African football-the first Ugandan to achieve this milestone. I was born and bred from this village where I am standing. So you have every reason to celebrate. For the youths in Buyende expect more sports items because this is what I understand best.

Governance: FUFA Super League hold successful Extra Ordinary General Assembly

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Super League members held a successful extra ordinary General Assembly at Mandela National Stadium on Friday, July 26, 2019.

The well attended assembly saw 15 out of the 16 members convene. Only newly promoted Kyetume FC missed with an apology.

Of the 15 members in attendance, only 13 were eligible to participate in the voting exercise because the two other newly promoted clubs (Proline FC and Wakiso Giants FC) have not been admitted as full members until passed by the FUFA General Assembly due in September in Adjumani.

Also in attendance was the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, second Vice President Darius Mugoye, third Vice President Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi as well as Executive Committee members Hamid Juma and Ronnie Kalema.

The main objective of this extra ordinary assembly was to conduct the elections for members of the board, overseen by the FUFA Electoral commission’s team led by Acting Chairman Yusuf Awuye.

The five board members; Arinaitwe Rugyendo, Humphrey Mandu Watenga, Ivan Fredrick “Guy” Kawuma, Peter Kibazo Kyasanku and David Sserebe Bunya all returned.

Mandu scored 13 votes out of expected 13. He was closely followed by Kibazo (12), Ruygendo and Serebe each tallied 11 votes, Kawuma had 7, Njuba with 6 and Daniel Kalinaki scored four votes.

Another candidate Dr. Azah Taibu from BUL Football Club pulled out of moments before the tranquil electoral process.

In the voting for the Chairman of the Board, Arinaitwe was returned to the top position and will be deputised by David Serebe.

The board will be steer the league another four years until 2023.

Somalia 1-3 Uganda: Early advantage for the Cranes in CHAN 2020 Qualifiers

Uganda Cranes take a 3-1 lead ahead of the return leg for the CHAN 2020 Qualifiers next weekend in Kampala.

During the first leg played at the Al Haji Hussein Guled Stadium in Djibouti, Uganda Cranes carried the day 3-1.

Striker Patrick Henry Kaddu, left back Mustafa Kizza and holding midfielder Taddeo Lwanga scored the goals for the visiting team.

Farhan Mohamed Ahmed got the consolation for Somalia who travel to Uganda for the return leg next week.

Kaddu scored the opener via a well taken kick from the penalty mark on the stroke of half time for a 1-0 lead.

Kizza added the second in the 64th minute and Lwanga capped the icing on the cake with three minutes to play.

Farhan got a late consolation for the home side with about four minutes to play.

The Squad was trimmed to 18 players after today’s practice match with Proline FC which ended goalless at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Capacity Building: FUFA To Organise Workshop Of Concussion Injuries For Premier League Clubs

The Football Development Directorate of FUFA has released the date for the workshop of Concussion and injuries to be organised for the Uganda Premier League teams.

The workshop will be held on 31st July 2019 at Multitec Business Institute-Bukesa.

FUFA, Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Health, the University of British Columbia (Injury prevention division), Canada, University of Cape Town (Division for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine), South Africa and the University of Missouri- St. Louis (College of education-Athletic coaching).

The FUFA Football Development Director Ali Mwebe confirmed the workshop.

‘FUFA has organised a workshop on Concussion (Mild Traumatic Brain) injury awareness training tools (CATTONLINE) for the 16 StarTimes Uganda Premier League Clubs. The aim of the training is to equip participants with resources and tools for managing concussion injury-related issues in football’ said Mwebe

‘The participants will be equipped with ways to recognise, prevent and manage concussions as well as mitigating future concussion. Participants will be given a certificate of completion together with concussion manuals given to them’ added Mwebe.

Meanwhile, Dr. Timothy Makubuya will provide information about the Co-coaching model for coaches in Uganda thus exploring new opportunities for injury prevention during the workshop.

At least two participants from each UPL Club are invited to attend the workshop that will start from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Club Licensing Status for 2019/20 Season of Uganda Premier League Clubs
Highlights of the report by the FUFA Club Licensing Committee
- Wakiso Giants, and URA FC get full license for 2019/20 season
- 4 clubs KCCA FC, Vipers FC, Maroons FC and Proline FC granted Provisional Licenses
- Bright Stars FC, Express FC, Tooro United FC, BUL FC and Mbarara City FC) denied Licenses as they have a few requirements to meet
- Onduparaka FC, Kyetume FC, Police FC, Busoga United FC and SC Villa failed to submit the minimum requirements within the deadline
FUFA Club Licensing committee has confirmed submissions from Eleven (11) clubs for the 2019/20 season Club Licensing exercise.

KCCA FC, Proline FC, Vipers SC, Tooro United FC, Mbarara City FC, Maroons FC, Wakiso Giants FC, Bright Stars FC, Express FC, BUL FC, and URA FC are the clubs that have submitted their requirements.

The submission of Club Licensing minimum requirements by clubs within the timeline was granted qualification for inspection of their infrastructure. The process was completed by 17th July 2019.

However, Onduparaka FC, Kyetume FC, Police FC, Busoga United FC and SC Villa failed to submit the minimum requirements within the deadline. Therefore they do not qualify for the inspection exercise.

In line with the Club Licensing road map for 2019/20 season, the First Instance Body (FIB) held a meeting on Tuesday 23rd July 2019 at FUFA House – Mengo and evaluated the inspection report.

The body confirmed that two (2) clubs (URA FC and Wakiso Giants FC) were granted full License for the 2019/20 season.

In addition, four (4) clubs (KCCA FC, Vipers FC, Maroons FC and Proline FC) were granted provisional Licenses while Bright Stars FC, Express FC, Tooro United FC, BUL FC and Mbarara City FC) were denied Licenses for 2019/20 season.

Clubs with provisional licenses and those that have not yet met the minimum requirements have been given an extended period of up to Friday 26th July 2019 to have an inspection of their infrastructure conducted.

Any failure by the club to meet the listed requirements as per earlier communication within the deadline shall mean denial of a license for the 2019/20 season.

A club that is denied a license shall have a right of appeal to the FUFA Club Licensing Appeals Committee.

More so, the deadline for 1st Division Club Licensing process is Friday 26th July 2019. No further inspections will be conducted after the deadline.

AFCON 2021 Qualifers: Uganda Cranes begins Campaign away against Burkina Faso

Uganda Cranes will kickoff the Total AFCON 2021 qualification campaign away against Burkina Faso and a home fixture with Malawi on dates to be decided between 11-19 November 2019.

However, the National team will have to wait for nine (9) months after two Match Days to play their next fixtures.

Uganda Cranes will play a doubleheader with either Seychelles or South Sudan between 31st August and 8th September 2020. Both teams will face off in the preliminary round before the winner joins group B.

On Match Day 5 Uganda Cranes play at home against Burkina Faso between 5th- 13h October 2020. Both teams met each other during the 2017 AFCON qualifier with the Burkinabes winning 1-0 at home and the fixture in Nambole ended goalless.

The last group fixture will be against the Flames of Malawi who last played in AFCON Finals in 2010.

The match is scheduled to be played between 9th -17th November 2020.
