Kampala Queens FC made a perfect defence to their league crown after edging past Uganda Martyrs Ladies FC on Sunday at MTN-Omondi Stadium on Sunday.
The closely contested game saw Uganda Martyrs take the lead through new captain Latifah Nakasi.
The hosts were however able to stage a comeback thanks to goals from Shamirah Nalugya (penalty) and the winner from Catherine Nagadya who recently joined Kampala Queens from Uganda Martyrs.
She Maroons were the biggest winners on matchday one, putting up a five star performance away to Asubo Ladies at Kampala Quality Playground.
Lillian Kasuubo orchestrated the damage, bagging a hat trick on the day before Millicent Namwembe added a brace to complete the rout.
Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim edged Rines SS WFC in a five-goal thriller at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
Phiona Nabulime, Hadijah Babirye and Agnes Nabukenya scored a goal each for Kawempe Muslim.
Rines SS WFC on the other hand got their goals through Catherine Wujja and Shakira Nankwanga’s own goal.
In the other game played over the weekend, Makerere University WFC edged new comers Wakiso Hill SS WFC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende thanks to a goal from new signing Noeline Namiiro.

Uganda U15 national team (Rhinos) newly appointed head coach Hamuza Lutalo has summoned a provisional squad of 45 players to start preparations for the forthcoming U15 CECAFA Championships to be held in Uganda from 4th – 18th November at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The Squad will enter camp on Tuesday 17th October in Njeru to start preparations under the guidance of Lutalo and his newly appointed technical team as they look forward to defend the tournament Uganda won in 2019 as they defeated Kenya 4-0 in the inaugural edition held in Eritrea.
The squad is comprised of players under the age of 15 years who were born in 2008 and above. This marks the eligibility of the players to feature in the U15 category as most of them are from school Championships.

Goals from Phionah Nabulime in the 6th minute and Agnes Nabukenya in the 19th minute in the first half were enough to cement their victory at home after beating Mozambique 6:0 away in Mozambique last weekend.

The U20 WNT (Queen Cranes) will get back into action tomorrow at 4 PM in a game that will be played at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. This will be the return leg of the second round of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers – Colombia.
Uganda is coming into this game with an advantage of 6-0 goals, which they scored last weekend at Campo da ABB Stadium in Mozambique.
During a press conference held on Thursday morning, the Queen Cranes’ head coach, Ayub Kalifah Kiyingi, informed the press that as a technical team, they have managed to remind the girls of how to manage success and score whenever they get a chance because their objective is still to take this team to the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Ayub Kalifah Kiyingi adds that he will make some changes in his starting lineup tomorrow because, despite the six goals, he has to manage them and score more goals. He believes that they need a more serious game tomorrow because he believes the other team has also prepared to face them.
Hadijah Nandago, the Queen Cranes’ captain, has urged all Ugandans to rally behind the team because the mood is high in the camp, and they’re promising to give Ugandans a good football game tomorrow.
The beach soccer coaching course organized by Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) began on Tuesday 10th October 2023 at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
It was initially scheduled for July but it was pushed forward due to various reasons. Participants have come from different corners of Africa, with some coming from Kenya and Nigeria.
Nineteen coaches got into the training that is being conducted by FUFA instructor Bashir Mutyaba and everyone is showing the zeal to learn.

Among the coaches in attendance are; Kinero Swaleh – Harambee Sand Stars head coach, former Sand Cranes head coach – Muwonge Salim, Standard High School – Zzana coach – Mutungi Alleluya, Eng. Ssenfuma Timothy and Lance corporal Kutosi Daniel from UPDF (Gulu barracks).
The course, which is intended to improve the quality of coaches in our local league, will take four days – ending on Friday 13th October 2023.

“We organized this course to help us in the new season that kicks off in a few weeks from now and we hope that after here, clubs are going to have the right and licensed coaches,” Chairman UBSA Deo Mutabazi said.
“All of you that are here are going to get certificates and bench permits which will allow you to coach a team.”
“Coaches without bench permits will not be allowed to sit on the bench during games. It’s now a club licensing requirement.”
“These issues of getting someone on the bench to shout out instructions about a game he doesn’t know are now phased out.”
He continued and said: “I want to request you to give this training serious attention because the game is changing on a daily basis and for some of you who have been at the international stage; you have seen how beach soccer is changing.”
“So, take this course seriously, put the right skills into our players so that the country benefits. The players that you are going to give the skills are the very players the national team gets to represent the country.”
“I am sure the time you are going to spend here will not be a waste. Utilize it very well because we want you to add some contribution onto the game.

FUFA Second Vice President Darius Mugoye was the Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony, and he reiterated that the federation is firmly focused on making Uganda the based footballing nation in Africa, on and off the field.
The vice president took some time off to applaud the coaches for serving the game diligently but also asked them to make the best use of the knowledge they are getting.
“Beach soccer is one of the fastest growing games not only in Uganda, not only in Africa but in the whole world,” he said.
“And for you choosing to associate yourself with it, I think it’s a very good decision. People normally want to associate themselves with things that have already taken off. They don’t want to be part of the process.”
“But I am very humbled to hear that some people from Kenya, Nigeria are here for the course.”
“Very many times coaches leave the classroom, hide the books and say the thing taught cannot work here, they are for the whites.”
“Therefore, I implore you to practice what is being taught, and at the same time, I officially declare this course opened.”

FUFA has completed organising a six-day beginners’ course for young referees at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The course is part of the famous two year FIFA League Development programme that was rolled out in 2022 by the world soccer governing body aimed at improving women football globally.
The project is an initiative by FUFA that was presented to FIFA but aimed at developing women league football and other areas of the game in the Country.
This particular course targeted young girls between the age of 15-20 to attract them into refereeing where they learnt skills and got knowledge about officiating matches.
The participants were selected from the eight FUFA regions; Kampala, Buganda, West Nile, Northern, Eastern, Western, North East and Kitara.
A total of thirty-two girls who were taken through the theory and practical sessions of refereeing embraced the training under the guidance of FUFA Referees Instructors Egesa Samuel (Physical Instructor) and Rahma Kizito (Fitness Instructor).
Since 2022, FUFA has benefitted from the FIFA League Development Programme with various activities organised as below;
Beach Soccer in Uganda has continued to take big strides with the growth of the game covering areas of administration, management, national teams and refereeing.
The desire by FUFA and FIFA to help the referees get further technical knowledge of the game has seen the world soccer governing body send French beach soccer referees’ instructor Lakhdar Benchabane to Uganda to handle a group of participants categorized as active referees and referees’ assessors for the FIFA MA Beach soccer referees.
The five-day course that started on Monday 9 th October 2023 has attracted twenty-six beach soccer referees’ instructors and active referees are taking part at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The course ends this Friday.
Uganda Beach Soccer Association Chairman Deo Mutabazi, Buganda region FA Delegate Hassan Kavuma and FUFA Football Development Director Ali Mwebe graced the opening ceremony.
UBSA Charman Deo Mutabazi was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony and said;
‘The course is very timely for our game in Uganda. It will help us as we continue with preparations for the new season. We thank FIFA and FUFA for the gesture and we believe this is going to improve on the officiating levels in all our competitions. The course will add so much value to the referees due to the modules presented to the participants’
The participants (6 of the 26 are female) will undergo various modules including duties of the time keeper and third referee, opinions and exchange with the referees, among others.

Uganda Cranes Interim Head Coach Morley Byekwaso Ochama has named the final team that will take on Mali and Zambia in the forthcoming International friendly games.
The coach named a team of 24 players, following four days of rigorous training at East High, Kisasi.
The contingent will depart Uganda on Tuesday morning (2am) aboard Ethiopian Airways.
It should be noted that the game against Mali will be played on Friday, 13th October at Stade du Mars in Bamako.
The team will thereafter connect to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where Uganda Cranes will play against Zambia on Tuesday, 17th October 2023 at Hamriya Stadium.
Besides defenders Abdu Aziizi Kayondo and Halidi Lwaliwa who will travel with the contingent from Uganda, the rest of the foreign based players will join the team from their respective clubs.

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) successfully defended the FUFA Corporate Tournament title, after clinching the 2023 edition on Saturday.
Their brilliant performance on the day, saw them finish unbeaten, win three games and drawing the other three.
It should be noted that this year’s edition attracted seven teams with games played in a round robin format.
Despite a sloppy start that saw them draw their opening three games, Civil Aviation Authority eventually recovered to win the remaining three games.
National Population Council (NPC) finished second with eleven points while Stanbic Uganda Cup with nine points.
Julius Kafuluma of Vision Group was named the most valuable player of the tournament.
Aben Shafik of National Population Council and Kenneth Majara from Civil Aviation Authority were named the best goalkeeper and top scorer respectively.
The winners took home a trophy, medals and a cash prize of five million shillings.
The annual FUFA Corporate Tournament returns bigger and better with this year’s edition slated for Saturday, 30th September 2023.
The tournament has attracted eight corporate companies and the games will be played at FUFA Corporate Tournament.
These include defending Champions Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), UMEME, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Vision Group, FUFA President’s XI, National Population Council (NPC) and FUFA Media Services (FMS).
The tournament is run under the theme ‘fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.’
The FUFA Corporate Tournament is broadcast live on 102.1 FUFA fm, as well as FUFA TV. All participating companies have a privilege to run adverts and mentions across the two platforms.
Unlike the previous editions where the tournament has played in group format, this year, the games will be in a round robbin format.
The team with the most number of points will be declared the winner.

Uganda’s journey at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers agonizingly came to an end on Tuesday in Oran, Algeria.
The Crested Cranes played out a one all draw in the return leg against Algeria, a result which meant the latter advanced to the next round 3-2 on aggregate.
In the game played at Stade Olympic D’Oran, the hosts took the lead through Naima Bouhani in the 3rd minute.
Fauzia Najjemba scored the equalizer in the 66th minute, converting from the spot after she was fouled in the box.
The result was however not enough to send Uganda to the next round.
The team will now shift focus to the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers with Cameroon waiting in November.
Coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has named Crested Cranes travelling squad to Algeria for the return leg in the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
The first leg at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Wednesday ended in a 2-1 defeat for Uganda.
The squad named has 20 players with three goalkeepers, six defenders, four midfielders and seven forwards.
The team will depart Entebbe International Airport on Saturday morning (4:50am) aboard Turkish Airlines.
FUFA EXCO member Rasoul Ariga heads the contingent as the Leader of Delegation.
The return leg will be played on 26th September 2023 with the winner on aggregate facing either Burundi or Ethiopia at the final qualification round.
