    FIFA WORLD CUP Russia 2018 (Qualifiers) – Group D:

    Preparations for the much awaited FIFA World  Cup Russia 2018 group D qualifier between Uganda Cranes and the Egypt Pharaohs at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Uganda are on a high notch.

    All the pre-match modalities and the measures to have a successful match were announced during a preparatory press conference held on Monday at FUFA House in Kampala.

    The press conference was graced by the FUFA deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu, FUFA Executive committee member and chairperson of the FUFA International Match organizing committee Issa Magoola, Namboole stadium manager Jamil Ssewanyana, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Sorowen, match day event organizer Bobkins Kibirige of Kibo Media and coordinated by media officer Hamza Africana Nsereko.

    Mandu assured the general public of affluent organization for the match with preparations taking the right shape and direction hours to the much awaited match.

    “We assure the public that the preparations for the match are in a high gear and everything is progressing in the right direction and tiding” Mandu observed.

    In his brief address before the media, AIGP Sorowen assured of maximum security  prior to, during and after the match.

    “Security operations have been finalized and we assure the public and spectators of maximum security before, during and after the match. Spectators should respect the rules set in order to ensure a smooth transition” Sorowen noted.

    FUFA International Match organizing committee chairperson Magoola vowed to organize a great match, confirming the full schedule of the visiting team and match officials.

    The match officials will set in on Tuesday afternoon.

    Match commissioner Michael Wambura from Tanzania will arrive on Tuesday, 29th August 2017 at 12:45 hours aboard Kenya Airways KQ 412.

    An hour later, he will be followed by the match referee assessor, Daniel Rene Louzaya from Congo at 01:50 hours aboard Rwandair Express WB 464.

    The referees Lemghaifry Bouchaab (Mauritania), Aboubaar Doumbouya (Guinea), Waar Abderahmane (Mauritania) and fourth official Toure Sekou Ahmed (Guinea).

    The two officials from Mauritania will travel aboard Turkish Airlines (TK 606) and those from Guinea will travel aboard Ethiopian Airlines ET 336 and ET 337.

    The Egyptian delegation is expected to arrive on Tuesday night aboard Nile Air via private flight.

    Where the Uganda Cranes saw off a spirited North Eastern region Select side 3-1 at the Emokoroi play ground in Bukedea district, hundreds of fans graced the match.

    Michael Baggio had earlier in the first half given the home team some hope with the equalizer – a great diving header following a curling corner.

    The FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo was among those who attended the match.

    He was accompanied by a couple of Members of Parliament Anita Among (Bukedea County), Moses Walyomu (Kagoma County), Solomon Silwanyi (Bukooli Central) and Patrick Isiagi Opolot (Kacumbari).

    FUFA Executive committee members Richard Ochom and Agnes Mugena, North East Region FA Chairman John Odong, Delegates to the FUFA Assembly, sponsors’ representatives, also attended the match.

    The match is part of the country wide campaign that the national team has undertaken for the past three years as a year of taking the national team brand closer to the fans in their respective localities.

    This campaign is meant to take the team closer to the fans as they associate with their respective star players, and as well, rally support for the team.

    Before the match, there was a curtain raiser match where the FUFA President captained a team made of MP’s and FUFA officials against the North East region side.

    Meanwhile, the team returned on Sunday morning ready for training in the evening.

    Uganda Cranes regional tours 2017:

    North East Region Select 1-3 Uganda Cranes

    Uganda Cranes has defeated the North East Region Select side 3-1 during the national team regional tour match played at the Emokori play ground in Bukedea district on Saturday.

    Derrick Nsibambi gave the national side the lead on 11 minutes.

    Michael Baggio headed home with a diving effort 12 minutes later following a corner that was poorly cleared out of danger.

    Eight minutes Tom Masiko scored a stunning long range effort to make it 2-1.

    Second half substitute Isaac Muleme scored the third from an acute angle in the 72nd minute.

    The match comes barely 6 days to the long awaited 2018 FIFA World Cup group D qualifier against Egypt at Mandela National Stadium stadium, Namboole.

    The match was attended by a great crowd that included the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, a couple of Members of Parliament Anita Among (Bukedea County), Moses Walyomu (Kagoma County), Solomon Silwanyi (Bukooli Central), Patrick Isiagi Opolot (Kacumbari), FUFA Executive committee members Richard Ochom and Agnes Mugena, North East Region FA Chairman John Odong, Delegates to the FUFA Assembly, sponsors’ representatives, among others.

    Hassan Wasswa Mawanda captained the National side.

    Wasswa, alongside goalkeeper Ismael Watenga, Paul Musamali and Ivan Ntege featured for the entire duration of the match.

    The technical team made a couple of changes as the second half started to give playing time to gauge several combinations.

    Uganda Cranes Regional Tours 2017:

    Saturday, 26th August: North East Region Select Vs Uganda Cranes

    The North East Football Association select team will play the Uganda Cranes team on Saturday, 26th August 2017.

    This will be a continuation of the famous Uganda Cranes regional tours whose key objective among others is to take the national team brand closer to the masses in their respective localities.

    Having left Kampala in the afternoon, the team delegation drove successfully and had a stop over at Mbale before conducting a late training session at the Mbale Cricket grounds.

    The team will leave Mbale on Saturday, hours to the match at Bukedea.

    The Uganda Cranes intensified preparations for the do or die 2018 FIFA World Russia qualifier match against Egypt with a practice match against  Azam Uganda Premier League club, SC Villa.

    The match ended in a goalless draw at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    This practice match was the first session for Zambian based left back Joseph Ochaya, who turns out for Lusaka Dynamos.

    In his interview with www.fufa.co.ug, Ochaya said that he is sent to face the Pharaohs on Thursday 31st August 2017 at Namboole.

    FUFA has confirmed that Moses Basena will have two new faces on the Uganda Cranes technical bench for the forthcoming interim period when the National Senior team takes on Egypt on 31st August and 5th September, 2017 for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at Namboole stadium and in Alexandria.

    Express FC Coach Matia Lule and US based former Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Sekagya are the two technical people who have been selected by Interim coach Moses Basena.

    ‘Basena made the request to have both Lule and Sekagya to reinforce the technical team so that Fred Kajoba concentrates on the goalkeeping area. FUFA honoured Basena’s request and we believe the new additions will be of great value to the Cranes’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein

    ‘With 27 players and just two coaches in camp, Basena requested FUFA to allow him make additions on the technical expertise which request was duly granted’ added Hussein

    ‘We need to give the coaches the utmost support during this period so that we register good results for the National team during this campaign.

    Express FC coach Matia Lule will reinforce the Uganda Cranes technical bench.

    Both Lule and Sekagya will be available for the two qualifiers against Egypt an interim period that was given to the technical team that continued with National team duties following the termination of the contract by Milutin Sredojevic as the head coach of the Uganda Cranes.

    Lule will start work with immediate effect on Thursday morning while Sekagya will jet in on 27th August, 2017 to join the Uganda Cranes.

    The Uganda Cranes conducted day 3 of non residential training on Wednesday evening at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    It was the first session following interim coach Moses Basena’s release of of the  27 man squad otoday morning to prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifier double encounter against Egypt on 31st August, 2017 at the Mandela National Stadium, Nambole.

    The training session was full of excitement.

    URA FC midfielder Shafic Kagimu who was named in the squad said;

    ‘It is another milestone in my life and football career. I have been working so hard for this call up’ said teh stylish Kagimu who was part of the Uganda Cranes team that qualified for the Total 2018 CHAN Finals to be hosted by Kenya.

    The midfield nugget added that now he has to defend his call up because it has been based on his good performances.

    “I need to work harder not to let down those who have put trust in me. They have been impressed by my performance which I need to sustain or even get better so that I am considered for the final team on match day against Egypt’ added Kagimu

    On Thursday, training (double sessions at 9am and 4pm) will still be held at  in Nambole.

    This year alone, four people have duly registered and are licenced to conduct business on behalf of their respective clients.

    The latest successful applicant is Fred Ronald Niwagira Mwine, with license number UGA-1707013.

    Niwagira expressed delight upon acquiring the license.

    ‘I have been working hard to get this license and i am happy. I thank all those people who have helped me get one’ Niwagira said.

    The Uganda Cranes interim coach has on Wednesday addressed the media during a press conference at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

    Basena released a 27 man sqaud that will take on Egypt for the double header in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

    ‘I wish to thank the players, FUFA, media and all the Ugandans for the support during the recently concluded successful CHAN qualification campaign. It is great that we qualified, a process that we shall build on for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Egypt’ Basena said.

    During the press conference, Basena was flanked by the FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein, Decolas Kiiza (FUFA Finance Director) and Patrick Ntege Kaweesa (The National Teams’ Officer).

    Participants happy with Management course for Women Elite Club officials

    Administration of FUFA Women Elite (FWEL) League clubs is headed for finer times according to participants of the FUFA Club Management course.

    The week long course tailored at polishing and equipping FWEL club CEO’s with modern football administration and management skills started on Monday with representatives from different clubs. It is only FWEL champions Kawempe muslim, UCU Lady Cardinals and Uganda Martyrs H/S WFC that have not had a representative for the course in progress at FUFA House, Mengo.

    At the end of the course, successful participants will become FUFA Certified CEOs in Management and Administration of football.

    It is a requirement for all clubs in the Azam Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League and FUFA Women Elite League to have a certified football CEO trained by FUFA.

    The course has also attrated representatives from Uganda Sports Press Association, Uganda Football Players’ Association, Nyamityobora, Police FC and Maroons.

    The course modules are; Football Administration, Management, Event Planning, Football Marketing, Communications inFootball, Finance, FUFA and FIFA Activities.

    The Uganda Cranes conducted a double session in the morning and evening on day two of non residential training at Mandela national Stadium, Namboole ahead of the double header  2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Egypt.

    Assistant captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda told www.fufa.co.ug after the training that they are set to conquer Egypt and ready to give in all their energies for the encounter.

    ‘We are more than ready for the game and only waiting for the day at Namboole. We have unfinished business after the 1-0 slender loss at AFCON in Gabon. We have to pay back. We were just unlucky that day but with the trust in our Lord, luck is on our side and we have also worked hard. We believe in our fans when we play at Namboole. We love them. They know what to do and disorganise the opponents’ said Wasswa

    Wasswa added that after testing AFCON recently in Gabon, it is World cup next in line.

    ‘We have the trust in ourselves and believe me, we shall do it come 31st August against Egypt’ added Wasswa.

    The Uganda Cranes will resume training on Wednesday 23rd August 2017 at 4pm Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    However in the morning on Wednesday, Head coach Moses Basena will name the full squad that will continue with training until the foreign based players join camp.

    On the second day of training in preparation for the Egypt double header, Uganda Cranes conducted a double session during the non residential training at Mandela national Stadium, Namboole.

    Monday evening was business as usual for the Uganda Cranes team just hours after return from a successful CHAN 2018 qualification campaign.

    This time round, the team is training in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia double legged group D matches against the Egyptian Pharaohs.

    First, Uganda will host the opening leg on 31st August 2017 at the Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    The return leg will be held a few days later at the Arab El Borg stadium in Alexanderia City.

    On Monday, twenty one players took part in the two hour session held at the outside training facility of the stadium.

    Still, the diligent interim coaches Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba were in charge of the training.

    Basena disclosed to www.fufa.co.ug that focus for the time being is on players’ physical fitness.

    ‘Our main focus now is on players’ physical fitness due to the respective league breaks’ Basena remarked.

    He expects the foreign legion to reinforce the team as soon as possible.

    On Tuesday, it will be a morning session at Mandela National Stadium starting at 9 a.m.

    Uganda Cranes team returns home, focus turns to Egypt back to back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

    The Uganda Cranes team successfully returned home on Sunday afternoon after qualifying for the CHAN 2018 final tournament.

    The delegation all returned safely aboard Rwandair from Kigali via Nairobi on flight WB 452. They set foot at the lake side Entebbe International Airport by 1 p.m.

    The reigning CAF team of the year progressed 3-2 on aggregate following a 2-0 loss in the return leg to Rwanda Amavubi Stars.

    Since Uganda Cranes had won the first leg 3-0 at the St Mary’s stadium, the team qualified 3-2 on aggregate.

    Focus and attention quickly turns to the back to back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Egypt.

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President, Eng. Moses Magogo has lauded the fans who traveled to the Stade De Kigali to cheer and support the Uganda Cranes in the return leg of the Total Africa Nations Championships against Rwanda Amavubi Stars.

    Although the Uganda Cranes lost 2-0 on the day, the reigning African Team of the year still qualified 3-2 on aggregate, having out smarted the opponents 3-0 at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende during the first leg.

    Although the Uganda Cranes lost 2-0 on the day, they qualified 3-2 on aggregate having won 3-0 in the first leg.
