The Uganda Cranes CHAN team continued with the sessions at St Mary’s Kitende stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 23 players turned up for training (inclusive of 3 goalkeepers) under the coaches Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba.
All the players responded well to the drills conducted which included among others playing under limited spaces, creating goal scoring opportunities and the finishing as well.
“We have had a good training session and feel ready for the match on Saturday. We call upon the fans to come and support us on the day” team captain Nico Wakiro Wadada.

Meanwhile, the team entered camp at the African Bible University on Wednesday morning.
Relatedly, the Rwanda national team is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday morning aboard Rwanda Airlines.

Newly elected FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo has officially revealed the 4 year master plan (2017-2021).
This happened on Wednesday during his first official address to the media at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
Eng. Magogo was flanked by the three Vice Presidents on the previous executive; Justus Mugisha, Darius Mugoye and Dennis Mbidde as well as the FUFA Communications manager, Ahmed Hussein who coordinated the press conference.

The Institution
The rate of growth of the game and the industry demands an institution that is modern and able to serve.
Governance; FUFA being a self-governing body, we shall continue to improve our internal governance systems. We shall;
Ensure, empower and enforce the independence and functioning of the
Legislature (General Assembly),
Executive (Executive Committee supported by the committees and the Secretariat) and
Judiciary (Judicial Bodies),
Improve and enforce the Statutes, regulations and policies.
Generally develop and implement good corporate governance practices at FUFA
The FUFA Human Resource; We shall recruit, train, equip, maintain, motivate and retain quality and in quantity personnel for FUFA. We shall also continue to undertake annual performance appraisals and realign the FUFA organogram in accordance with the tasks at hand
Innovations; We have resolved to start a FUFA Sacco for the persons of football to save, lend and borrow money from. It will be managed by independent professionals and we believe as FUFA we will contribute and ask Government to contribute to the same. This revolving fund will be used to improve on the lives of the people of football
FUFA Symposiums; Instead of the statutory meetings such as for the Executive Committee, Standing Committees and the General Assembly, FUFA will organise Football Symposiums throughout the country and year involving internal and external stakeholders to generate ideas and debate on topical issues that will compose the discussion of the statutory meetings
Facilities; We shall continue to acquire and improve the facilities of FUFA such as Transport, ICT, Security, office space, furniture, systems automatizations.
Nation-wide coverage; The creation and empowering of Regional Football Associations is intended to improve on service delivery to the grassroots and masses country wide. FUFA will finance at least 2 fulltime staff in the Regional Offices
Stakeholders Confidence; The Football internal stakeholders include the following categories of people;

The Industry
Whereas the game of football worldwide is growing very fast technically and commercially, the industry in Uganda is still largely amateur and unregulated. The China Government as a strategy has unveiled to create a football economy of 850Billion USD by 2025 inclusive of hosting and winning the FIFA World Cup while the UK authorities collect billions of pounds in taxes from the English Premier League alone. In addition, football is a huge source of employment to the youth. We shall therefore take lead to advocate for creation of an industry.
The Government is a key player in realizing the dream of a fully-fledged professional sports industry in Uganda. We shall engage government in the following areas;
The Law; Creation of a modern sports law which answers questions of stadium safety, Match fixing, Betting, Doping, protection of sports brands’ commercial rights, the autonomy of sport and creation of the court of arbitration of Sport.
Infrastructure; provision sports facilities by acquiring, rehabilitating and maintaining of international, national and regional standard sports facilities. We will advocate to centralization of ownership of sports facilities in the entire country.
Funding; provision of funding for the national teams expenses of fulltime staff salaries, travel expenses, Accommodation, Bonuses and Allowances for the Official contingent and provision of air tickets for international competitions representative clubs.
Sports Industry Human Resource; creating proper curriculum in the education system to develop the competent Human Resource in Administration, Marketing, Legal and technical areas of Sport. Sport is a very specialized industry that general training may not provide such human resource
National Sports Federations (NSF); As a regulatory mechanism, ensure NSFs fulfil their own statutory requirements
Strategic agencies of government; integral planning to integrate sports into other government programmes in the areas of health, wealth creation, tourism, patriotism, gender, youth, crime prevention etc
Football
With a better Institution of FUFA and Sports Industry, we shall be equipped to undertake the football development itself
Club Football; The development of footballers is an everyday activity. Without proper club football, the national team will not get the right players and consequently the right results.
FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda; We shall undertake the FUFA Clubs Pro Agenda a programme that will help clubs reengineer their technical and business processes and also focus on long term development
Club Licensing; We will also continue to undertake club licensing for both the professional and amateur clubs football
Competitions; Football competitions are the face of a football organisation like FUFA. More particularly, we shall;
Stamp our authority on the organisation and integrity of match results of competitions that FUFA authorizes
Adhere to improving our organizational abilities of football competitions managed by FUFA.
ensure that the 3rd, 4th and 5th Division Leagues are played in accordance with the FUFA Rules and in as many DFAs as possible
Introduce the following competitions;
i) Inter provinces Challenge,
ii) FUFA Elite Schools Competition
iii) FUFA Primary Schools Competition
iv) FUFA S1/S2 Competition
Introduce the FUFA Registration Bureau where all documents to be legally accepted in accordance with the FUFA Regulations will have to be registered. Persons, Associations and Clubs will also be registered under the FIFA Connect under this Bureau.
Undertake Player Registration by inputting information at RFA Offices and electronically transmitting the data to the Headquarters for authenticating and Returning to the RFA to print
License all service providers in the competitions thus;

Technical Development
Beach Soccer; We shall undertake to create a CECAFA Competition and also to compete in CAF Competitions. We plan to have a Beach Soccer Facility at Namboole
Futsal; We will integrate the Uganda Futsal Association Activities into FUFA Activities
Education; More Education for Coaches, Administrators, Referees and Sports Medicine Practitioners. This will be done under the Education Strategy. It is our strategy to fast track a group of coaches through international training and exchange programmes
Women; To engage CECAFA to introduce the CECAFA Women Club Competition and also to organise the Women Championship. We shall also return to CAF Competitions
Youth; The U17 league shall continue with the FUFA Support. We shall also explore to undertake the U15 Competition. Will we compete in CECAFA and CAF Competitions
Sports Medicine; We shall engage to introduce Medical Insurance for the players particularly at the Professional League level. More First Aid Practitioners will be trained
Statistics; We will institute the tools and persons to capture technical data about the players
National Teams
Staff; We intend to have fulltime staff for the National Team on a payroll if the government plans come through. We shall also name Personnel behind the National teams on Merit
Competitions; we shall register for the CECAFA and CAF competitions for the

The Legends will be more utilized to promote football. The players association should be strengthened to help in players’ contracts stability

Modern Day football requires lots of monies. We have proven that we know what to do but without resources nothing can be implemented. There a wrong misconception that football has lots of monies already. We ignore the huge expenses.
The only solution to lack of funds is to commercialise football.
Rich individuals and government organisation funding football budgets is not sustainable and has its limitations in professionalization.
Let us invest in making more money. It may not be instant but we have to get there. We need to target the audiences at home that don’t come to the stadium. We have to put our events, competitions and programmes on TV and Digital Media.
If it requires FUFA to produce its commercial properties into electronic signal, we will do. We will reinvest the revenues generated to make better products for the markets by paying those creating the product.

We should discuss football not persons
Football requires my brains.
There are not many Ugandans if not Africans who conceptualize football the way I do in addition to investing the hours I do
I have provided my time, person and brains to improve football. Everyone agrees there is a huge change, why should some few self-seeking individuals seek to destroy the person instead. Why should people work day and night to confuse and compromise state agents to arrest me for no crime?
We have accounted for all the funds received from government with certificates of accountability issued. FUFA is one of the few FAs in Africa eligible to receive FIFA Forward Funding. There is even a central audit by FIFA on FAs
Since I came I have improved on accounting of this institution;
Clubs, Staffs, Players, Referees were all being paid in cash, it is now bank accounts
FUFA does not collect cash anymore but paid into bank account
Delegates used to get books of accounts 3-5 days to assembly. It is a month now as provided for without any questions
FUFA used to have a part-time VP-Finance now we have 4 fulltime finance employees with CPA certified Finance Director
FUFA prepares accounts and external auditors audit unlike before when auditors prepared the accounts
Accounts are discussed at Finance Committee and Exco before General Assembly which was not the case before
We even publish the accounts in the Print media, all these are new corporate governance practices that we introduced but none of you will write about such changes instead will ask for accountability. How was FUFA accounting 4-years ago?
Elections and Politics period is finished
Let us push in one direction
Those fighting the persons are fighting the game and sowing seeds instability for long periods
Let us not take for granted what we have achieved and don’t want to talk about

Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) President, Gianni Infantino has sent a congragulatory message to the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo and his newly elected working Executive Committee.
The letter directly addressed to the FUFA president warmly congragulates Mr Magogo upon his re-election for the second successive term in office for the period 2017-2021.
Part of the letter reads;
This is a clear vote of confidence in your abilities from the Uganda Football community and we look forward to continuing our corporation with you in the years to come.
I have no doubt that your rich experience, knowledge and personal qualities will continue to have a positive impact on the stable development of our beloved game in your country.

Eng. Magogo was elected unopposed during the 93rd FUFA Ordinary Assembly held in Masindi.
Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will host a press conference at the home of football in Uganda, FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala on Wednesday, 9th August 2017.

The FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, recently endorsed by the delegates for the second term in office (2017-2021) during the 93rd FUFA Ordinary Assembly will address the media.
Newly elected FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo has today received message from the ‘The International Sports Press Association (AIPS)’ president congratulating him upon his victory in the recently concluded FUFA elections.
In an election held during the 93rd FUFA ordinary general assembly held at Kabalega Resort Hotel Masindi last weekend on August 5, 2017, Mr. Magogo got 69 out of the total 72 vote cast thereby getting the endorsement to lead FUFA for the next 4 years.
In the letter dated August 8, addressed to the federation’s local address in Kampala, Mr. Gianni Merlo, the AIPS president after expressing his warm congratulations went ahead and wished the FUFA president success in his responsibilities in the next 4 years.

FIFA Coaching Instructor Mathiot Ulrich has hailed FUFA for putting a lot of emphasis on the education of coaches in the country.
Mathiot who is from Seychelles believes that FUFA are taking a right route.
‘The future is bright for FUFA investing in the education of coaches who handle youth football. I want you to make it practical after this course at your clubs by involving the young players’ said Mathiot.
28 coaches from the 16 Azam Uganda Premier League clubs submitted names of participants to FUFA for the 5 day course that started on Monday at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. UPDF FC, Masavu FC and Onduparaka FC never submitted their coaches’ names.
The course was officially opened today by the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.
Watson revealed that the FUFA Juniors league will have changes next year to consider 18 year old players but those who played in previous U-17 Leagues will be given priority as well.
The current set up of coaches’ education is a key area that FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo would like to put a lot of energy and investment.
‘In the General Assembly in Masindi, the FUFA President stressed that youth football will be top on agenda in the strategic plan passed in 2016. This course is part of the plan with support from the world soccer governing body FIFA’ said Watson.
The course has attracted some of the former National team players like Philip Ssozi, Ssaka Mpiima and Simeon Masaba.
The FUFA Technical Director Asumani Lubowa and Education Officer Jackson Nyiima are also in Njeru.

Uganda Cranes interim coach Moses Basena is happy with the way players have responded to training coming from a one day weekend break to continue preparations for the game against neighbours Rwanda.
The Uganda Cranes play host to the Amavubi Stars of Rwanda in the first leg of final qualifying round of the Total CHAN 2018 with the winner over two fixture heading to Kenya. After a week’s training, Bsena chose to give the players a one day rest on Sunday and were able to report back on Monday evening at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

‘The break seems to have worked to my expectations because in today’s training session I observed the players in great shape looking re-energised and seemingly enjoying every bit of it. This kind of response and attitude is going to be crucial in the days leading to the game against Rwanda.’ Basena stated after training.

‘Our full focus today has basically been working on combinations such as two players per ball, three per ball especially in counter attack situations. We also worked on the endurance part of it because it being the off season our players are not entirely active like we would want them to. But all in all we are now fully focusing on the Saturday game which we want to win to give us an advantage going into the return leg.’ Basena continued.

The team will shift its training to St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday until the match day on Saturday 12th August, 2017.
The 93rd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly was held on Saturday 5th August, 2017 at Kabalega Resort Hotel in Masindi, Kitara Region.
Also, all the FUFA staff, officials from global and continental football governing bodies FIFA and CAF respectively, National Council of Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports, different Uganda Government leaders, Media and observers from all over Africa graced the colourful and succesfully organised Assembly.

FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo Hassim after going through the statutory requirements of an annual ordinary general assembly, he presented his communication to the congress where he expressed appreciation to the different football stakeholders and took the congress through his strategic working plan for his second term of service in the office of FUFA President.
I thank the FUFA Delegates for honouring our invitation and their diligent efforts in serving the game of football, the Parliament and Government of the Republic of Uganda for their financial support Particularly -Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga , FIFA and CAF for recognising the Federation’s efforts streamlined towards developing the game of football in Uganda without forgetting the tremendous job done by the fourth estate(Media) in availing timely updates to our people at the grassroots particularly those who report as required ethically.
I also take the opportunity to applaud the FUFA Legal team who have seen many cases filed against FUFA but dismissed lately. We knew this moment would come and took a swift brave decision of having a full-time legal manager at FUFA

FUFA President hinted on the problems faced by the Federation and appealed to the Government to intervene.
‘The Federation is faced with a number of problems in running the game ranging from betting, match fixing, lack of effected commercial laws amongst others and I appeal to the government to intervene and get these problems solved. Special recognition goes to Adoko Nekyon former 1968 FUFA President when the Uganda football League was introduced, Ken Bayo from Ecobank, USPA President Sabiiti Muwanga amongst other high profile individuals’ FUFA President added.

Every Delegate is entitled to a Republic of Uganda Passport and free access to Uganda Cranes home matches.
All the 88 Delegates will at least get an opportunity to travel with Uganda Cranes for away matches in the next four years with sitting allowances doubled from 0.5 Million to one million with effect from 2018 financial year and summits will be staged to discuss football matters.

Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo hinted about former Uganda Cranes ‘ Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic’s situation before welcoming Dr. Bernard Ogwel who conveyed the message on behalf of National council of Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports and the Government of Uganda.
‘The market and economic competition on the continent could not avail us room to retain him even when FUFA offered to double his salary’ Said FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo Hassim.
‘Formulation of physical activity sports bill is on its course and a committee is in place,this will ensure sports is given a priority to blossom in Uganda and,football in particular. I thank FIFA and CAF for supporting the development of the game of football in Uganda and ask FUFA through FUFA president to see Uganda Cranes gel at the continental level and the government is ready to support you in anyway. I also the efforts of the media in bolstering football development because, they play a vital role in taking the game to our people to the ground level possible’ Dr Benard Ogwel, who represented the National Council of Sports and Government noted.

FIFA representative, Honorary chairman CECAFA and former president Tanzania football federation Mr Leodega Tenga on addressing the congress applauded FUFA’s hospitable reception and vowed on behalf of FIFA to facilitate football development in Uganda.
‘We were warmly received and welcomed with open arms on arrival in Uganda, I thank FUFA for the hospitable reception. I personally follow every move by Uganda FA streamlined towards football development and reliably aware of their tireless efforts geared towards the cause. The 93rd FUFA ordinary General Assembly involved presentation of the Audited books of accounts as at 31st December 2016, the previous FUFA’s financial year and approval of the FUFA budget presented to the congress by FUFA Finance Director Kiiza Decolas. The motion was proposed by Mr. Ngobi Jamal, seconded by Tabu Santos and Kiiza from Kitara region.

The FUFA President tallied 69 votes out of the 72 total number of votes cast. 2 were invalid and 1 against.

These sessions have been on since Wednesday at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole stadium under the coaches Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba.

The long awaited 93rd ordinary Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) General Ordinary Assembly scheduled for Saturday 5th August, 2017 in Kitara region at Kabalega Resort Hotel in Masindi is just hours away.
The Assembly has been given the due green light after the High Court Judge Hon Mrs.Lady Justice Margret Ouma on Friday 4th August, 2017 dismissed with costs the application by Proline Football Club’s chairman Mujib Kasule for an injunction on FUFA elections .
This followed a suit by Kasule in the civil court with intentions to seek a certificate of urgency from court to halt the assembly.
It was all excitement as the Lady Justice passed on the ruling in a fully packed court.
FUFA Legal officer, Dennis Lukambi, who was present in court alongside two other lawyers, Ambrose Tebyasa and Evans Ochieng hailed the team work spirit, patience and hard work by the FUFA legal team and the other departments at the Federation.

“This victory is once again another milestone for the federation. We are glad for the teamwork, spirit shown, patience and hard work from all the organs of FUFA. This is a clear manifestation that football has won” Lukambi said after the ruling.
Meanwhile, all the FUFA Delegates across the country and expected guests have arrived in Masindi.
The Ordinary General Assembly will commence at 9am on Saturday with a total of 88 delegates confirmed.
Meanwhile, the chairman CAF referees committee, CAF Executive member and Djibouti FA president Mr. HASSAN Souleiman Waberi, Honorary chairman of CECAFA and former president of Tanzania Football Federation Mr. Leodegar Tenga are in the country and will grace the assembly as special observers.
The 93rd elective assembly will see incumbent president Eng. Moses Magogo passed unopposed as the leader for Federation of Uganda Football Associations for his second term of four years in office.
When the Uganda Cranes team preparing for the 2018 TOTAL CHAN two legged qualifier against Rwanda convened on the second day of non residential training, 12 more players joined the session.
The 2 hour session was held at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Thursday evening.
The players who joined on Thursday having missed the opening day session are; Isaac Muleme, Frank Tumwesigye, Tom Masiko, Deus Bukenya, Rashid Toha, Muhammed Shaban, Erisa Ssekisambu, Nico Wakiro Wadada, Moses Wasiwa, as well as goalies Tom Ikara and Ismail Watenga.

Whilst Kajoba concentrated on the 4 goalkeepers, Basena focused on the out field players.

High Court Judge in Lira has on Thursday dismissed the case filed by a group of 3 football fans requesting for a court injunction against the forthcoming FUFA Ordinary General Assembly in Masindi District.
The Federation was give the go ahead for the Assembly to allow the footballing fraternity and stakeholders hold the Assembly scheduled for this Saturday, 5th August 2017 following a ruling today. Lady Justice Rosemery Barebe handled the matter.
The Federation was ably represented by a strong legal team of Ojok Geoffrey Odour and Dennis Lukambi.
‘We are glad for the ruling passed by the judge in Lira. Football has again won’ Lukambi stated.
While the Civil court in Kampala where Mujib Kasule sought a certificate of urgency for an interim injunction on the FUFA Elections has adjourned the case for Friday at mid-day.
Hon. Mrs. Lady Justice Margaret Oguli Oumo adjourned the matter to Friday at Midday when she will pass a ruling whether the application for injunction is urgent to be heard.
FUFA legal team was represented by Counsel Evans Ochieng and Ambrose Tebyasa.
‘We submitted a strong defence and therefore we expect a fair ruling’ Ochieng said.

Mandela National Stadium, Namboole was the place to on Wednesday evening when Uganda Cranes interim coached Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba officially started work with the national team.
From the media to ordinary fans, everyone was eager to attend this session that followed slight rains.
The training session kicked off a few minutes after 4 p.m with 16 players reporting for duty.
Two of these were foreign based players Khalid Aucho and Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (training with the locally based players).

“It has been a great session. I have liked the players’ response. As a team, we are more than ready to play Rwanda whom we acknowledge is a competitive side. We shall continue to train for the rest of the days for team bonding” Moses Basena, who was flanked by his co-coach Fred Kajoba told the media.

After close to two hours of training that included use of the ball under minimal spaces, shooting, small sided games and ball maintenance, the players retired home.

Honorary Chairman of CECAFA Mr. Leodegar Tenga and CAF Executive Committee Member Mr. Suleiman Hassan Waberi will represent FIFA and CAF respectively at the 93rd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly in Masindi, Kitara Region.
Mr. Tenga is also the former President of Tanzania Football Federation.
The Assembly is set for this Saturday 5th August at Kabalega Resort Hotel.
It is a requirement by both CAF and FIFA to have representatives from both bodies to attend Elections of their Member Associations.
Both officials will play the Observer’s role.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President, Eng. Moses Magogo has officially announced the appointment of Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba as interim coaches for the national team, the Uganda Cranes.
The two coaches have been assistants to former head coach Mr Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic.
Eng. Magogo was addressing the media on Monday at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala days after receipt of the termination notice on Saturday.
Accompanied by the FUFA Finance Director Decolas Kiiza, Communications manager Ahmed Hussein and national teams’ manager Patrick Ntege Kaweesa, Eng. Magogo saluted the service from coach Micho.
In the address which was also live on the football radio, 102.1 FUFA f.m, Eng Magogo outlined to the media the history of coach Micho’s recruitment process, remuneration procedure, challenges and current situation.

“We convened as a family including immediate former players and made a decision to hand the national team to Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba as interim coaches until the CHAN 2018 and FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Rwanda and Egypt respectively. We shall give them (Basena and Kajoba) all the necessary support” Eng. Magogo remarked.
Eng. Magogo appreciated the timely support from the sponsors, partners and the Government of Uganda every time the national team and FUFA has required the services.
He also hinted on the constructive procedure currently being undertaken by FUFA with Government towards the facilitation of the national team just like it is done elsewhere on the African continent.
“As the federation, we have engaged the Government and the discussions for funding of the national team are positive and promising.” Eng. Magogo noted.

“After AFCON 2017, we sat down with the coach and agreed on the payment plan. We cleared the $50,000 qualification bonus. The arrears are cumulative and we had a plan to pay because even in June 2017, we paid the coach $20,000. As a federation, we have never faulted on the payment plan agreed upon. We also pledge to clear the outstanding arrears for the coach” Eng Magogo added.
Basena and Kajoba will resume official duties starting with the 2018 TOTAL CHAN qualifiers against Rwanda.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations is in deep sorrow following an accident on Saturday 29th July, 2017 that left five football fans dead in Kibibi who were heading to Kabulasoke to support their Bulemezi Masaza team for a football match.
The unfortunate incident left other occupants of the truck injured and carrying serious injuries.
‘Our condolences go out to Buganda Kingdom, Masaza Football Organising Committee and the people of Bulemezi following the loss of their fans. We are with you during these trying times’ said FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
‘We know how much football brings joy to communities around the world. It was an unfortunate incident to that led to the loss of lives. We shall keep those still nursing injuries and families which lost their loved ones in our prayers’ added Magogo.
