He called upon the Government of Uganda to fully support the national team, like it is done elsewhere in Africa.

‘It is exactly 12 days since we left the country for Cape Verde. We played three matches against Ethiopia, Senegal and Cape Verde. I thank the FUFA Executive and secretariat for the necessary support. I continue to call upon the Government for financial support towards the Uganda Cranes. We need to be included on the national budget like it is done elsewhere in Africa. Our winning away to Cape Verde should only make us prepare better ahead of future engagements.’ The FUFA President said in his speech.

Goal: Geofrey Serunkuma (on 83 minutes)

KCCA FC striker Geoffrey Serunkuma barely spent time on the pitch after coming on for Emma Okwi before announcing his arrival with an important goal that Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic will look up to during the campaign of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019.

Uganda Cranes Starting XI L-R (Back row) Emma Okwi, Khalid Aucho, Derrick Nsibambi, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Murushid Juuko, Bernard Muwanga, Denis Onyango Front row (L-R) Nicolas Wadada, Faruku Miya, Isaac Muleme, Godfrey Walusimbi

Micho substituted Okwi after he picked up a yellow card but the stylish striker had done his job for the period he spent on the pitch after keeping the Cape Verde defence under pressure.

Micho took off Isaac Muleme for a striker Milton Karisa and Cranes had four strikers on the pitch Okwi, Miya Faruku, Derrick Nsibambi just at the start of the second half.

Serunkuma netted late in the game for Uganda Cranes to win 1-0 in Group L.

Denis Onyango started a new chapter as the full time captain of the Uganda Cranes with fabulous saves in the match.

Hassan Wasswa and Khalid Aucho were in charge of the midfield while Murushid Juuko and Bernard Muwanga manned the defense with Godfrey Walusimbi and Wadada playing on the left and right ful backs respectively.

‘It was a good result. We were not disrupted by events on Saturday. We remained focused. We would have maintained our away record had it not been the penalty we conceded against Burkina Faso in 2016. This is a good wonderful result for my boys and the people of Uganda’ said Uganda Cranes coach Micho.

Uganda Cranes Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named his starting XI of Uganda Cranes to face Cape Verde in the opening match of the Total AFCON 2019 Group L in Praia on Sunday evening.

  • Verbatim by FUFA President about events that led to the postponement of Cape Verde vs Uganda Cranes match to Sunday

    Dear fellow Countrymen,

The full contingent of 31 persons has finally made it to Cape Verde Capital Praia. Arrived at Stadium at 4.15pm and finally hotel at 4.40pm (Kick off time was 4.30pm) on Saturday.

Going to Cape Verde continues to be a challenge to teams from Africa mainland. It is not once or twice that teams arrive hours before  kick off. Normally teams charter flights  to be able to get here.

The only flights which connect Africa Mainland and Cape Verde is the Airline of Cape Verde that comes 3 times to Dakar a week. We planned and booked early for 31pax on this flight to arrive on 8th June 2017, 2 days before match.

We were only told on 7th June that only 8 persons could travel with a list chosen by the Airline that we could not change.  And the rest to arrive 6am on 10th June (match day). We did not have options we obliged. It is just a 45 minutes flight anyway. When the first batch travelled the flight was half empty. We later almost failed to get a place for one player Milton Karisa who was a late inclusion by the coach from the friendlies performance despite needing to just replace a name of a dropped player.  We paid 3times the cost and still we travelled the flight was half empty.

There was an official communication in writing from the Airline that there is a technical fault with the aircraft. Meanwhile word at Dakar airport was that you guys have to only arrive at match time. It looked like a usual plan by the hosts.

We ceased this opportunity to ask CAF to postpone the game as the players had not had a real meal and had not rested since 2am and only arrived at kick-off.

It is therefore nothing like poor planning but the connection between the Airline and Federation seemed planned. We managed to state our case and the game was postponed to allow last training and proper rest for the players yet not losing our return itinerary.

Let us just pray that these  issues do not psychologically erode the players and we get the best of performance from the boys. Every one is now set to go

We don’t have to find excuses and blames but pray for the best

It is Our Game, It is Our Country

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR INTERMEDIARIES

    INTERMEDIARIES LIST 2019

In 2015, FIFA replaced the FIFA Player’s Agents Regulations with the new Regulations on Working with Intermediaries. New rules make it much easier to become an intermediary. In this article, we will go through the steps on how to become one and give you some general tips.

    REGISTRATION

The licensing system is no longer in use and has been replaced with a new one. Now intermediaries don’t need any qualifications. To start your career as an intermediary you just need to register at your national Football Association (FA).

To register you need to sign an Intermediary Declaration which states that you will work within rules of FUFA and pay a registration fee. The registration fee is different in every country. Keep in mind that you will need to renew your registration every (calendar) year.

In addition to that, you will also need to meet the requirements of a “Test of Good Character and Reputation for Intermediaries” and provide a proof of no criminal record (usually attainable at your national police department). The test also contains provisions for intermediaries applying to work with or in relation to Minors.

    REPRESENTATION CONTRACT

Before engaging in any sort of intermediary activity on behalf of a player or a club, both parties have to agree on a Representation contract which must contain: the names of the parties, nature of legal relationship, scope of services, the duration, payment terms, the date of completion, termination provisions and signatures of both parties. Under the old Players’ Agent Regulations a representation contract could last as long as two years and could then be renewed if both parties agreed, however, under the new Regulations there is no maximum duration provided.

    SPECIAL RULES

There are a few special rules for working with Minors. In order to work with Minors, intermediaries need to get a special authorization from FUFA. They also may not receive any form of payment for services provided in relation to U-18 players. You can still enter into an agreement with them as long as the player’s legal guardians sign the contract.

The Associations can add additional requirements as long as they fit the minimum standard set by FIFA.

    SKILLS AND QUALITIES

Since there are no entry requirements to become an intermediary here are some skills that will come in handy:

    – Work experience with a sports agency: Contact agencies to see if there are any internships/jobs available. That way you will get to know people in the industry and learn about the procedures.
    – Contacts within football industry: In this business, connections are very important. They help you reach more players and clubs making your job as an intermediary much easier.
    – Legal knowledge: It might come as a surprise but an intermediary needs a lot of knowledge about contract law. It is common for intermediaries to have a law degree or some other type of law education.
    – Business knowledge: The other part of your job will be negotiating so business knowledge is also very important.
    – Football knowledge: You will need to understand the game of football and how to spot talent. After all, better clients mean more income for you.
    – Social skills: Intermediary doesn’t only take care of contract negotiations. A lot of times he also takes the role of player’s PR. He often even gives advice to players regarding their personal issues.

    INCOME

Your income will depend on whether you work for an agency or for yourself. If you work for an agency you may be paid a fixed salary. But if you work alone your income will be hugely based on the income of your client(s) and your contract(s) with them. The new rules recommend a payment of 3% of the transfer fee involved or 3% of the player’s basic gross income. But since these are only guidelines, in reality, the percentage can still rise up to 10%. Intermediary’s salary can also be based on other player incomes that are not his wage. Player’s endorsement contracts are for example often part of the income.

    Who is an “Intermediary”?

Intermediary means any person or legal persons (e.g. company, business) who, for a fee or free of charge, is engaged by a Club (being any club that is registered or affiliated with FUFA/FIFA, one of its member federations or an association affiliated to one of its member federations) and/or Player in a “Transaction”.

    What is a “Transaction”?

Transaction means the conclusion of either: an employment contract between a player and club, including, without limitation, a renegotiation, variation, extension or renewal of an existing employment contract; or a transfer agreement between two clubs.

Who can act as an Intermediary and what do I need to lodge?

Subject to complying with FUFA/FIFA’s Regulations on Working with Intermediaries (the Regulations) and submitting a valid Intermediary Declaration, any person or legal person may act as an Intermediary.

If you act as an Intermediary in a Transaction, FUFA will register your involvement in the FUFA Registration System. Before FUFA registers you in the system, FUFA must be satisfied that you: have an impeccable reputation; and  have no conflicts (e.g. employment or contractual relationship) with FUFA, leagues, associations, confederations or FIFA.

The details of the petition, its merits and demerits have been submitted to Kabega Bogezi & Bukenya Advocates (the Lawyers of the Person of the FUFA President) awaiting any legal steps from whatsoever authorities and any related questions and answers shall be a reserve of the legal team.

It is however the obligation of FUFA to state some facts for the benefit of the public.

    1) To date FIFA has neither contacted the FUFA President nor the Institution, however when it does an appropriate response shall be provided as required.

    2) Since way back, FIFA Member Associations apply for World Cup Tickets if they receive orders from their Nationals with priority given to those involved in sports. In the recent times, this was the case even in the previous regimes when the FIFA World cup was held in 2006 & 2010 where the same mechanism was applied for 2014.

    3) For the case of 2014, many Ugandans applied for the World Cup Tickets and they paid their ticket face price fees to the FUFA Bank Account. The funds were later remitted to FIFA and Tickets were issued to the persons who paid. At an appropriate time, FUFA will release the corresponding bank trails and the list of Ugandan beneficiaries that applied, paid and received their 2014 World Cup Tickets through FUFA.

    4) All Ugandans that applied and paid for the tickets received them without any complaints whatsoever.

    5) It is therefore incorrect to allege that FIFA gives FUFA tickets for free distribution to Ugandans and there is no single Ugandan that was disenfranchised of the right to buy a ticket for the 2014 World Cup.

    6) FUFA is aware that this is election-related machinations but reiterates that the leadership of FUFA will be determined democratically and by the Members of FUFA and in accordance with the FUFA Statutes.

The football fraternity including Government, 33 Members of FUFA, Sponsors, Partners, Fans, Public and Service Providers are urged to remain calm during this period as many of such statements are likely to come up in a bid to tarnish the image of the institution, its leaders and also divert the attention of football development in the country.

It is Our Game, It is Our Country.
