    Uganda Cup 2016/17:

    1st Semi-final: Paidha Black Angels Vs Sadolin Paints – Bar Okoro stadium, Zombo

    2nd Semi-final: Police or KCCA Vs Express – Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole or Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo

    Pending quarter final match: Police Vs KCCA – Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole (Sunday, 30th April 2017)

    Uganda Cup semi-final draws for the 43rd edition were successfully held at FUFA House on Wednesday.

    The first semi-final will be held between Paidha Black Angels and Sadolin Paints at Bar Okoro Stadium in Zombo.

    10 time winners, Express football club await the winner of either KCCA or Express in the second semi-final.

    FUFA Competitions director, Ali Mwebe supervised the draws flanked by the Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic and the FUFA Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein.

    The only remaining quarter final match between Police and KCCA that was earlier scheduled for 23rd April 2017 has been now shifted to 30th April 2017

    Mwebe also clarified about the format of play in the semi-finals, the host venue and the CSR cause attached to the Uganda Cup.

    The semi-finals shall be two legged. The FUFA team supervised the facilities in Arua and confirmed the finals shall be held at the Betway Green Light Stadium on 27th May 2017.

    There are two training grounds confirmed – NTC Moni ground and Arua Public School play ground.

    The CSR cause will see donations given to Arua Remand Home.

    The tentative date for semi-finals shall be held between 12th and 14th May 2017.

    Vipers are the reigning holders of the Uganda Cup whose winner earns the ticket to play at the CAF Confederation cup.

    Azam Uganda Premier League 2016/17:

    • Express Vs JMC Hippos (JMC Hippos did not travel to Kampala)

    The Azam Uganda Premier league continued on Tuesday with three games on schedule.

    Two of the matches were played as Express and Jinja Municipal Council Hippos game did not take place because the latter failed to travel (league committee will pronounce themselves on the matter after 48 hours).

    At the Kakindu Stadium in Jinja, Bashir Mutanda scored a penalty in the 53rd minute for home side Kirinya- Jinja S.S as they won 1-0 against SC Villa Jogoo.

    Kirinya-Jinja S.S’ striker George Ssenkaaba was red carded for a second bookable offence with about 15 minutes to play.

    Police and Bright Stars played to a goal-less stalement at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

    The league returns tomorow (Wednesday) when KCCA, fresh from achieving the CAF Confederation group stage qualification feat plays host to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

    Meanwhile, Vipers will host Soana at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Friday, 20th April 2017 than on the originally set 21st April 2017 (on request of Vipers’ management).

    Also, the Onduparaka versus Sadolin Paints that had been scheduled for Friday, 20th April 2017 has been pushed ahead to Saturday, 21st April 2017 with a slight change in kick off time at 4 p.m.

    CAF Confederation cup: Goalie Ochan saves 2 penalties, scores winning kick as KCCA progress to the group stage

    Al Masry (Egypt) 1-1 KCCA (Uganda)

    KCCA progressed on 4-3 penalties

    Reigning Azam Uganda Premier League champions, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club became the first club from Uganda to progress to the final group stage of the CAF Confederation cup.

    The feat was achieved in the Egyptian city of Ismailia  on Saturday following a 4-3 post penalty victory over Al Masry.

    KCCA lost 1-0 on the day but the tie was sent direct to post match penalties after a 1 all aggregate tie having won the first leg at Phillip Omondi stadium 1-0 courtesy of Derrick Nsibambi’s late winner.

    Goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan saved two spot kicks as Geofrey Sserunkuma, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Timothy Dennis Awany and Ochan himself scored for the Ugandan side.

    KCCA had earlier been eliminated by South Africans Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions league before they were diverted to the CAF Confederation league.

    The group stages of the CAF Confederation cup will commence soon.

    2017 FUFA Polls: Picking of Nomination forms at District level extended till Friday 14th April

    The FUFA Electoral Committee hereby extends the period for picking forms at District Football Association level and clarifies as follows:-

    1. Aware of the fact that some DFAs received the election materials late due to logistical reasons; the FUFA Electoral Committee acting in accordance with the FUFA Electoral Code and guidelines hereby extends the deadline for picking nomination forms for delegates to represent DFA to the Regional Assemblies to 14th April 2017, 1700 hours.
    1. In accordance with Art 1 of the FUFA Electoral Code, the FUFA Electoral Committee hereby extends the deadline for picking nomination forms for the position of District Football Association Executive and SIGs delegates to RFA to start from 13th April 2017 upto 20th April 2017; 1700hours to give the candidates ample time to scrutinize their Executive Committee candidature lists.
    1. The FUFA Electoral Committee also hereby reminds candidates standing on election by list to comply with Article 19 and 20 of the FUFA Election Guidelines -which disqualify a person from appearing on two candidature lists and discontinues the Invalid candidates from further participation in the FUFA Election process accordingly.

    CAF Confederation cup 2017: Egyptian FA assures KCCA FC of maximum security for return leg

    CAF has responded to FUFA’s communication following a letter by KCCA FC over security concerns in Egypt ahead of the return leg fixture against El Masry of the CAF Confederation cup this weekend.

    In a communication to FUFA signed off by CAF Manager Inter Clubs Competitions Mohamed K. El Shawarbry states that;

    We would like to inform you that the Egyptian FA sent to CAF a letter confirming that;

    • The security authorities approved the hosting of the match between El Masry and KCCA FC.
    • Egyptian FA requested the security authorities to secure the teams during their stay in Egypt till their departure
    • All security arrangements have been made
    • Egypt is a safe and secure country. There is no reason to be worried about the security since the situation in Egypt is normal.

    KCCA FC carry a 1-0 goal advantage from the play off first leg fixture against El Masry played last Saturday at the Philip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

    FUFA lines up friendly match with Senegal

     

    Uganda Cranes technical team has lined up a friendly match against Senegal on 6th June 2017 en route to Cape Verde for the 2019 Nations Cup qualifier to be played a few days later.

    CAF fixed the period between 5th -13th June, 2017 for the qualifier.

    The high profile match will be played in Dakar.

    The last time these two teams faced off was a 2014 World cup play-off qualifier in Morocco when Senegal won 1-0 in 2013.

    ‘It will be a good test for our players before taking on Cape Verde. We know the value of such matches before playing competitive game where points are at stake. We are very grateful of the Senegal Football Federation’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.

    ‘Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic will be hoping to build on a great story in the 2017 Nations Cup qualification campaign into the 2019 Cameroon Project’ added Hussein.

    FUFA will meet with the technical arms of the National senior team for further preparations of the upcoming international engagements including the 2019 Nations cup qualifiers where Uganda Cranes was drawn in Group L  with Cape Verde, Tanzania and Lesotho.

    FIFA trains TMS Club managers in Uganda

    FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) conducted a stakeholders’ workshop in Uganda-the first of its kind when a team from Zurich trained Azam Uganda Premier League club officials plus selected participants from other football divisions in the country.

    The one day workshop was officially opened by FUFA Vice President Justus Mugisha, who was also accompanied by FUFA CEO  Edgar Watson.

    ‘The workshop is part of FUFA’s strategy to professionalize the game as defined in FUFA’s 5 years Strategic plan’ said Mugisha.

    The workshop comes as a result of previous meeting held by FIFA TMS Head of Integrity and Compliance Morris Kimberly and Legal Counsel Compliance Department FIFA TMS Prisca Mutesi. The meeting took place at FUFA House on February 22, 2017 at FUFA House.

    ‘Previously, FIFA TMS would train us (TMS Managers) of Member Associations of FIFA and we later organize local trainings for clubs at home but this time, they are doing it selves’ said Ali Mwebe, the FUFA TMS Manager.

    Conducted by Elia De Santis, Training and Support Coordinator in FIFA TMS and Mutesi, , the Instructors concentrated on aspects of access and confidentiality.

    The training is aimed at matching global International Transfer Matching System, proper execution of transfers and loan transfers as well as ‘Claims’. The new aspect in the system enforces payment of statutory training compensation fees and solidarity contribution fees to former clubs that contributed to training and development of a professional player as per FIFA Regulations on Status and Transfer of Players.

    In 2007, the 57th FIFA congress voted to create an online system for male 11 a-side international football transfers as one of the recommendations of the FIFA task force “for the good of the game”. The objectives were to increase integrity and transparency in the market by increasing data available to football authorities on every transaction and to enforce rules on the protection of minors.

    FUFA Corporate Tournament 2017: Organisers confirm change of date and Venue

    New date: 6th May, 2017 at KISU, Bukoto 

    The 2017 FUFA Corporate Tournament date has been changed.

    Originally planned for the 29th April 2017 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo, now the event has been changed to 6th May 2017 at KISU-Bukoto.

    FUFA Marketing Director, Esther Musoke confirmed the development.

    “We have changed the venue and date of the 2017 FUFA Corporate Tournament because of a crowded schedule on the first date proposed”

    On 29th April 2017, the District Football Associations (DFA’s) shall be engaged in the voting exercise across the country.

    Also, on the same day, the Buganda Masaza Football tournament is expected to be officially opened.

    All the major stake holders have been notified accordingly.

    This will be the third year running that the FUFA Corporate tournament shall be held.

    The FUFA Electoral committee has on Wednesday addressed the media during the Weekly press conference at the Uganda’s home of football in Mengo – Kampala.

    This was the first time that the committee endorsed at the 92nd FUFA Ordinary Assembly in Luwero was engaging the media in an official address.

    FUFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson who by virtual of his position at the federation is mandated to be part of the committee and independently oversee their activities officially inaugurated the committee led by Sam Bakiiki.

    “At the 92nd FUFA Ordinary Assembly in Luwero, the FUFA Electoral Committee was endorsed. I am part of the committee as mandated by the FUFA Constitution to oversee the activities and also assist in the logistical area. The committee is independent and competent enough to execute all their activities without interference to the best of their abilities. The FUFA elective assembly shall be held on 5th August 2017 in Masindi starting at 9 a.m” Watson told the media.

    Addressing the media at the first official press conference as the FUFA Electoral Committee chairperson, Sam Bakiika, who was flanked by all the members on the committee vowed to work diligently for a free and fair electoral process.

    “We have already started the road map for a successful electoral process that will lead to the eventual elections in August 2017. This is a process and not a one off event with a series of activities lined up. We have trained the polling assistants and other officials in all the districts of the country. The first task we undertook was to first ascertain the number of districts with active football leagues where we trained all the leaders. This will be a very transparent, free and fair electoral process” Bakiika noted.

    Matches will be played in the first week of May

    The 2016/17 FUFA Women’s cup semi-final draw has been held on Wednesday at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

    FUFA Competitions director Ali Mwebe flanked by Chris Kalibala (Chairman FUFA Women’s committee) and communications manager Ahmed Hussein witnessed the draws.

    Mukono based UCU Lady Cardinals is pitted against Olila S.S as Mutesa 1 Royal University will be playing with Gafford Ladies.

    Addressing the media and the team officials in attendance, Mwebe also highlighted about the competition rules at this stage.

    “The FUFA Women’s Cup being a development competition and the first of its kind, we shall not play home and away. There will be extra time played in the event the matches end in a stalement after normal time. In case of a tie, spot kicks will be taken to determine the winner ” Mwebe said.

    Kalibala appreciated all the teams and players that take part in the respective FUFA organized women leagues.

    He also tasked them (the players) to take upon opportunities in refereeing and administration.

    “First of all, i wish to thank all the players who sacrifice their precious time to play football. Please maintain and personally, i would encourage you to take opportunities in refereeing and football management. FUFA is committed to further see women football in leaps and bounds” Kalibala stated.

    The dates for these matches ear marked are within the first week of May 2017.

    The final match of the FUFA Women’s cup shall be played in Busia.

    This is the first time ever that FUFA is organizing the knock out football tournament for the women. Clubs in the Women Elite League and non league teams were allowed to take part.

    BUL Football Club overcame Jinja Municipal Council Hippos 2-1 in the Jinja derby played on Tuesday.

    Yunus Sibira and Derrick Walulya were on target for Peter Onen’s coached side, BUL.

    Moses Batali pulled a goal back for JMC Hippos but it was little too late to cause an impact.

    The JMC Hippos and BUL affair was relied live on the football radio, 102.1 FUFA f.m.

    At the Champions stadium in Mwererwe, home side Bright Stars and Kirinya Jinja S.S shared the spoils in a goal-less affair.

    Bright Stars missed a series of goal scoring chances through Joshua Kawadwa.

    The league will now return on Good Friday.

    FUFA Uganda Cup 2016/17:

    • Round of 16: Kataka 2-5 KCCA
    • Quarter final: URA 1 (5) – 1 (6) Express

    KCCA qualified for the quarter finals of the FUFA Uganda Cup after humiliating Big league side Kataka 5-2 at the Nabini play ground.

    Brian Majwega and Derrick Nsibambi each scored a brace before an own goal by a Kataka player crowned the day.

    Junior Amanya and Nasur Nandala got the consolation goals for the Mbale based side who led 2-1 for 69 minutes until Majwega’s penalty made it 2 all.

    KCCA will now face Police in the quarter finals at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

    Express won their quarter final match 6-5 in post match penalties over URA at the Mehta stadium in Lugazi.

    The Red Eagles now join Sadolin Paints and Paidha Black Angels who already booked their berths on Sunday.

    The winner of the Uganda Cup will qualify to represent the country in the CAF Confederation cup.

    Beach Soccer: Nkumba Select, MUBS, KIU star in National beach soccer league

    Nkumba Select, MUBS and KIU were in exceptional form when the national beach soccer league during match day 13 at Lido Beach in Entebbe.

    Nkumba Select, the cup holders were 6-1 winners against Dalumba International with Uganda Sand Cranes striker and reigning beach soccer league MVP Roch Somoka scoring scoring five goals.

    KIU overcame MS Sand Lions 7-3 with team captain Jeff Akabway netting five goals.

    MUBS humiliated International University of East Africa 7-4 as  YMCA and Talented shared the spoils in a six goal thriller.

    FUFA Uganda Cup: Sadolin Paints, Paidha Black Angels progress to semi-finals

    Uganda Cup (Quater-finals):

    Sadolin Paints 2-1 Onduparaka

    FUFA Big league club Paidha Black Angels caused one of the major upsets in the on-going Uganda Cup when they eliminated the reigning champions, Vipers following a 1-0 result at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Sunday.

    Fred Ameko scored the game winner after 29 minutes to book a semi-final slot.

    At the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole, host club Sadolin Paints overcame Onduparaka 2-1.

    Fred Kyambadde and Nasser Muzamiru were on target for Sadolin Paints.

    Samson Ceasar Okhuti pulled a goal back for Onduparaka, who were last season’s losing finalists.

    The other two quarter-finals will be played in the coming weeks. Police awaits the winner between Kataka and KCCA as URA will host Express at the Mehta stadium in Lugazi.

    The final of the Uganda Cup for this year will be held by the West Nile region.

    With about two matches to wind up the regular season of the FUFA Big League, clubs are surviving for the fitness to secure direct promotional slots, some to finish in respectable positions whereas others are fighting relegation.

    On Sunday, striker Brian Ahebwa scored four goals to guide Mbarara City to a 4-1 victory over rivals Nyamityobora in the epic Mbarara derby at Kakyeeka Stadium on Sunday.

    Clinton Kamugisha got the consolation for Nyamityobora.

    At the Masaka Recreational stadium, Synergy defeated visiting Entebbe F.C 1-0 with a late winner to cement a play off slot in the Rwenzori group.

    In the other match played on Sunday, Water and Hope Doves played to a goal-less draw at the Kyambogo West Play ground.

    Simba played to a 3 all draw with Kira United at the Mashariki High school play ground.

    Kireka United lost 1-0 to Baza Holdings at their Namboole outside ground playing facility.

    The FUFA Big league will resume on Tuesday when Masavu visits Airtel Kitara away to the Boma ground in Hoima Municipality.

    CAF Confederation Cup: KCCA wins first leg against Egypt’s Al Masry

    KCCA (Uganda) 1-0 Al Masry (Egypt)

    Uganda’s representatives at the CAF Confederation cup, KCCA won 1-0 at their Phillip Omondi stadium stadium past Egyptian opponents, Al Masry on Saturday.

    Derrick Nsibambi’s last minute strike proved to be the difference in the well watched game also graced by the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.

    Substitute Nsibambi scored after goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan’s long range free kick in the 94th minute.

    Five minutes had been indicated by the 4th official after the mandatory 90 minutes of the game.

    The return leg match will be played next Saturday in Egypt.
