Sc Villa and Bright Stars FC dropped points at home in the Azam Uganda Premier League matches played on Saturday evening.
Sc Villa were cruising 2-0 until the 62nd minute when Mahad Kaooza pulled one back for Lweza while Owen Kasula netted in the 87th minute.
Lweza were recovering from two successive defeats at the hands of Vipers and Bright Stars FC.
Villa took the lead through Okwi Emma in the 28th minute before Alex Kitata got his team’s second in the 58th minute at Nakivubo stadium
In Mwererwe, Bright Stars left it late to get an equalizer in the 1-1 with fierce rivals Soana FC. Soana had benefitted from an own goal by defender Innocent As

CAF Confederation Cup (Preliminary Round – Second Leg): Volcan De Moroni (Comoros) 1-1 Vipers (Uganda)

Uganda’s Vipers Sports Club has progressed to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 1 all draw with Comoros’ Volcan De Moroni during the return leg played at the Stade De Moroni on Saturday.
Kamal Djabir gave the home side the lead after 15 minutes but the Ugandans positively responded through Deus Bukenya’s well drilled free-kick for the equalizer.
The match was officiated by Zambia’s Janny Sakizwe who also handled the AFCON 2017 final between Cameroon and Egypt in Gabon.
Uganda’s other representatives on the continent, KCCA play on Sunday in Luanda, Angola during the return leg of the CAF Champions league.
KCCA won the first leg 1-0 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo through Geofrey Sserunkuma’s headed goal after 49 minutes off second half substitute Brian Majwega’s corner.
KCCA is the reigning Azam Uganda Premier League champion while Vipers won the Uganda Cup.

Living Kabon who netted twice against Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia in an international club friendly almost a fortnight ago at Nambole stadium, was on the mark again this time with a precious goal for Onduparaka FC who edged Kirinya Jinja SS 1-0 in Arua.
In a closely contested fixture, with both teams playing in the Azam Uganda Premier League on their debut season, saw Onduparaka FC skipper Muhammad Sahaban beat the visitor’s defence before setting up Kabon for a cool finish to send the home fans into jubilations with two minutes left on the clock in the second half.
Onduparaka have now collected 29 points in 18 outings to maintain their proud unbeaten home record this season in the league.
The other match played on Friday in the AUPL was between The Saints and BUL FC. The Saints won 2-0 in Mwererwe.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino will pay a two day visit to Uganda at the invitation of FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
Infantino who was elected to office in 2016, has embarked on meeting FIFA Member Associations around the globe to share ideas on football development projects.
In a confirmation letter to FUFA President and signed by FIFA President, the visit will cover two days 25th and 26th February, 2017.
Part of the letter reads;
‘I am very pleased to confirm my visit. I will be arriving in Entebbe on 25th February 2017. I have no doubt that this visit will help us to lay foundations for further cooperation and to share our personal visions for the continued development of our sport in your country’
FUFA President who is in Doha for the FIFA Executive football Summit said;
‘Football needs such contacts for the sport to grow. Ugandan football will not be the same after his visit. It is a great moment in Ugandan football’
FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein confirmed the latest developments about the visit of FIFA President.

‘We are glad that the FIFA President Mr. Gianni Infantino will be our guest next week. It is good news for Ugandan football and a big sign that the future of the sport is becoming brighter and brighter each passing day. We believe the visit will bear fruits. The programme for the visit will be released at an appropriate time’ said Hussein.

FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo and Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson are in Doha at the invitation of world soccer governing body FIFA. Having flown out of the country on Tuesday night, the FUFA President was on a programme set by FIFA to make a presentation on grassroots football to the football big wigs on Thursday morning.
‘It is a great opportunity to talk about football at such an important gathering in Doha. Football around the globe needs such programmes to flourish’ said Eng. Magogo.
During such opportunities, the FUFA President has held meetings with football contacts.

‘In 2016 Edgar Watson and grassroots football trained coach Vincent Tumusiime traveled to Slovenia and took part in the UEFA grassroots programme. Those are signs of creating football contacts’ added FUFA President.
The two-day event chaired by FIFA President Gianni Infantino focuses on “FIFA 2.0 – The Vision for the Future” strategy, the “Forward” program, and development of children and youth football.
The summit brings together executives of football federations of Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Qatar, Namibia, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Denmark, Lithuania, Serbia, Sweden and Ukraine.


Uganda Cup Round of 32: Lungujja Galaxy 0-6 KCCA FC
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club ejected Kampala regional side Lungujja Galaxy out of the 2016/17 Uganda Cup after a convincing 6-0 result in the round of 32 match at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
Derrick Nsibambi had a hat-trick with Geofrey Sserunkuma netting a brace and Tom Masiko the other.
KCCA thus becomes the first club this season to progress to the last 16 stage of the knock out Uganda Cup tournament.
They are expected to depart to Angola on Thursday night for the return leg of the CAF Champions league preliminary match where they will play Angola’s CD Primiero De Agosto on Sunday.


West Nile product Oromchan Villa released by URA FC at the start of this year was on song with a brace for BUL FC who defeated Express FC at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.
BUL FC won 3-0 to move a place in the table standings but remain in the bottom three in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Steven Luswata scored an own goal as BUL picked up maximum points.
FUFA player of the year Muhammad Shaban lived up to his billing as the best player of 2016 when he walked on to the Betway Green Light stadium with a mission to lead his club to victory but the Caterpillars could only get a point in a 2-2 draw. Onduparaka let URA recover from a 2-0 lead to share the spoils.
Shaban who was playing his first game in-front of his home fans after returning from the AFCON finals in Gabon, netted his team’s opening goal in the first half before defender Acram Kakembo got the second for the Arua based side.
Shaban has now gone to 10 goals in the league as he also scored against Proline in his team’s 3-1 defeat last Wednesday at the Philip Omondi stadium.
URA’s goals came in the final nine minutesof the game, one of them scored by Sam Sekitto in the 81st minute. Robert Mukongotya got the other for the tax payers.
At Lugogo, Police FC edged home side Proline 1-0 in the televised match (Azam TV). Both goalkeepers Kenyi Said (Proline) and Yasin Mugabi ( Police FC) saved penalties during the game. Police’s Hood Kaweesa missed the spot kick while Bayo Fahad for Proline.
Yasin Mugume scored the game’s solitary goal.

The data verification exercise of all football stakeholders in Uganda under the FIFA Connect programme got underway on Monday. The exercise will be conducted by FUFA trained data verifying officers under the office of the CEO and Competitions Department.

In two separate communications (Circulars- 1050 sent on 14th Dec, 2016 and a reminder on circular 1054 dated 9th Feb, 2017) to the various stakeholders including FUFA’s 33 members, the exercise will help collect data of all clubs and their officials in Uganda at all levels.

‘The exercise will commence on Monday 13th February, 2017 throughout the country according to the schedules released by FUFA. The exercise will be conducted by FUFA data verifying officers to collect information of all clubs, club officials, coaches, players and referees’

The FUFA CEO Edgar Watson and Competitions Director Ali Mwebe attended a specialized workshop on the FIFA connect programme in Botswana that saw Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe send representatives. The hosts-Botswana also sent in attendants.
The workshop was aimed to improve in the areas of record keeping and database collection for proper management by FIFA MAs.
The seminar will impart knowledge to the participants that will see FIFA Member Associations move from the current License Plus to the FIFA Connect Programme under the ‘Know Your Person Project’

It is advantage KCCA Football Club ahead of next week’s return leg of the CAF Champions league (preliminary round).
The reigning Uganda Premier league champions overcame a hard fighting Club Desportivo Primeiro De Agosto from Angola 1-0 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday evening.

Striker Geofrey Sserunkuma scored the lone goal of the day off a header following a well taken corner in the 49th minute by Brian Majwega.
The game was well attended by a cross section of fans, the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, the FUFA first Vice President Justus Mugisha, other FUFA officials, KCCA Executive Director Jenifer Musisi, the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Members of Parliament and a wide range of other dignitaries.
The FUFA President also witnessed the certificate awarding ceremony for four of the club legends – Jolly Bananuka, John Mutenda, Moses Nsereko (R.I.P) and Fred Ogene whose services were recognized by the current club management steered by chairman Julius Kabugo.




The return leg will be played in Luanda, Angola on 19th February 2017.

The President of the world soccer governing body FIFA Gianni Infantino has sent a message of condolence to FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo following the death of Mzee Kezekiah Segwanga Musisi on Saturday night. Segwanga was FUFA President from 1972-1974.
The message dated 8th February was signed by Infantino.
Part of the message reads;
‘Please accept my deepest condolences on hearing of the passing away of former FUFA President, CECAFA founder and life member Kezekiah Segwanga Musisi.
On behalf of the members of the International football community, i should be grateful if you could extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
We hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness’
Segwanga Musisi was laid to rest on Tuesday in Nakasajja.

Proline FC defeated Arua based Onduparaka FC 3-1 in the Azam Uganda Premier League match played at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
It was the only league game at this level played on Wednesday afternoon.
Ceasar Okhuti returning at the same pitch having played for KCCA FC following his move from Express FC early last year before heading back to West Nile missed a penalty.

However Proline had different ideas on the day with Gift Ali, Owori David and Nelson Senkatuka netting for the home side while Muhammad Shaban-Onduparaka’s skipper got the consolation for the visiting side.
The win takes Proline to 9th position on the table with 19 points while Onduparaka FC enjoying a debut season in the top flight are 4th on 25 points.

KCCA FC are on top with 35 points from 16 outings.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has extended a helping hand in the area of administration to one of its 33 Members-Express FC following a request by the club’s chairperson Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.
In a letter dated 26th January, 2017 and addressed to the FUFA Chief Executive Officer, the request hinged on the local football body providing the red eagles with a trained person for a six month period.
‘FUFA seconded one of its secretariat staff Ivan Kintu Bayige to play a key role on a six month period as CEO for Express FC as per the request by one of our members. We shall keep extending such services to our Member Associations depending based on requests’
FUFA has made it mandatory for any club playing in the Azam Uganda Premier League to employ a trained person (CEO) who has attended the FUFA administration courses.
