    All is set for the inaugural FUFA Women cup

    Preparations for the inaugural FUFA Women cup are on a high gear.

    Participation of all the 16 FUFA Women Elite Clubs in competition is mandatory.

    Registration:

    FUFA opened the registration across the country for all the interested women football clubs and teams to take part in this maiden edition.

    To be registered, a club / team shall fill and return the entry form to FUFA House with proof of payment of applicable to FUFA Bank Account.

    The FUFA Women Elite Clubs will each pay Ug.shs 100,000, regional league clubs shall pay Ug.shs 70,000 and non league clubs (teams) shall register with Ug.shs 150,000.

    The FUFA Women Cup is scheduled to kick off on 21st January 2017 with the final slated for the 27th May 2017.

    FUFA Uganda Cup 43rd Edition: Preliminary rounds kick off early December

    The 43rd FUFA Uganda Cup is slated to kick start on the 3rd December 2016 with the preliminary round.

    The main draws for the this edition will be held on the 11th January 2017 and the round of 64 starts on 21st January 2017.

    23 teams from the preliminary rounds shall be determined through allocation of slots for the entire country by FUFA Regions.

    Kampala (4 teams), Buganda Region (3 teams), Western Region (3 teams), North East Region (3 teams), Kitara Region (2 teams), West Nile Region (2 teams), Northern Region (2 teams).

    Registration fees:

    Uganda Premier League (Ug.shs 300,000), FUFA Big League (Ug.shs 250,000), FUFA Regional League (Ug.shs 150,000), DFA Fourth Division Clubs (Ug.shs 100,000), DFA Fifth Division clubs (Ug.shs 100,000) and Non League clubs / teams (Ug.shs 300,000).

    The registration procedure at the FUFA Regions will end by the 2nd December 2016.

    The 11th FUFA Executive committee held on 28th July 2016 approved the FUFA West Nile Region as the host of 2016/17 Uganda Cup final in Arua town.

    The final is slated for the weekend of 2nd – 4th June 2017.

    The winner of the FUFA Uganda Cup sportingly qualifies to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.

    2017 AFCON: Day 2- Non residential training for Uganda Cranes at Nakivubo

    The Uganda Cranes have conducted day two of non residential training at Nakivubio Stadium on Thursday evening.

    The team held a trial match against the Bombo based The Saints FC with the match ending 2-1 in favour of the Uganda Cranes.

    The Cranes played Eleven (11) against fifteen (15) but still managed to secure a win courtesy of first half goals by Onduparaka FC Captain Muhammad Shaban and Tonny Mawejje while Moses Mulambula scored for the Saints.

    After the match, KCCA FC midfielder Paul Mucureezi couldn’t hide his pleasure for playing for the National team call up.

    He said that it’s any players dream to feature for the national team and therefore he has to utilise the opportunity given to him to impress the coach and fight for his Nation.

    “I am excited to be part of the team preparing for AFCON Finals. I have to give in the best of my ability to impress the coach so that he considers me for the final squad’ said Mucureezi

    The team will take a break until Sunday when training resumes at a venue yet to be named. 21 players turned up for training today.

    FIFA Rankings: Uganda Cranes remain CECAFA’s best

    The latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday indicate Uganda Cranes is 73rd and the best in the entire CECAFA region.

    The Rankings put Uganda on 488 points after two results played this month.

    Uganda Cranes lost 1-0 to Zambia in the international friendly to Zambia and won by the same margin in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.

    Kenya closely follows on 89th, Burundi is 133rd, Sudan is 140th, Rwanda at 101st, Sudan climbs 10 places to 140th, Tanzania (160th) and South Sudan also drops by two places to 169th.

    Uganda’s 2017 AFCON opponents:

    Egypt is 36th (719 points), Ghana Black Stars fall to 53rd with 611 points and Mali is 61st (569 points).

    The next FIFA Rankings will be released on 22nd December 2016.

    Uganda’s list of international referees has been received from FIFA by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
    The list for 2017 has Twenty two (22) referees and have been approved for the 2017 FIFA badges.

    ‘FIFA sent the approved list to FUFA and we are in position to communicate it to the concerned stakeholders. We Congratulate the officials selected, entities and people that have made the Uganda FIFA list. FUFA expects the International referees to maintain high standards while officiating matches both at the domestic and international front’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein

    The list has two new names Naigaga Habiba (Woman referee) and Okello Dick (Male Assistant referee).

    The National Football team Uganda Cranes rolled off preparations for Gabon with the first non residential training on Wednesday at Mandela National stadium.

    The afternoon downpour  interrupted the training session as only ten players attended.

    ‘We are no bothered  by the turn up as the players had communicated to me. We shall have a full house for a practice match on Thursday’ said Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevci.

    Uganda Cranes will play against The Saints at Nakivubo on Thursday and it will a behind the closed door training session.

    President Museveni clears AFCON qualification bonuses for Uganda Cranes players & officials

    The Fountain of Honour of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta has fulfilled the promise made of paying the bonuses  of all the Uganda Cranes players and officials who were part of the team that qualified for the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

    FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein confirmed the development to the media during the weekly press conference on Wednesday at FUFA House in Mengo.

    ‘We are in touch with State House over the transfer of the players and officials bonuses on to their accounts. Some players and officials have received their bonuses but we shall ascertain the exact details when the process is completed and release an official statement’ said Hussein.

    ‘FUFA is very grateful of the President’s generous heart of giving to sports and in particular to FUFA. The President has always supported our activities when approached and we are confident he do the same for the AFCON Finals as he promised when he hosted the Uganda Cranes at Luncheon in Entebbe at State House’ added Hussein.

    Uganda Cranes Head coach who led the team to the dreamland after 39 years of waiting has already released the programme for the team that will see them camp in Tunisia and Dubai before flying to Gabon in 2017.

    AFCON 2017 finals: Micho releases Uganda Cranes detailed plan ahead of Gabon

    Uganda Cranes’ head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic has released the detailed programme for the national team ahead of the AFCON 2017 finals in Gabon.

    The detailed programme includes residential and non training,  training camps and international friendly matches.

    Flanked by the assistant coach Moses Basena, Ahmed Hussein (FUFA communications manager) and the deputy FUFA CEO, Humphrey Mandu, Micho boldly underlined utmost committment to the national team.

    I have a life contract with Uganda. I am fully committed to my job as the Uganda Cranes head coach.

    The programme to prepare the team for the AFCON finals in Gabon is comprehensive as we humbly appeal to the Government to come in with the timely financial support as promised by His Excellency the President of Uganda.

    The coach appealed to the media to support the cause as the training starts with non-residential drills.

    FUFA’s capacity building spreads to North East with Level 1 coaching course

    Close to 60 participants are undergoing a FUFA Level 1 coaching course at Light SS, Soroti Municipality in the North East region. It is the first major coaching course in the region this season and was officially opened by the Chairman North East region Football Association Stephen Onyait. He was accompanied by North East Region FA FUFA Delegate John Odong and Excom Memebr Simon Otim.

    With FUFA’s conclusive plan under President Eng. Moses Magogo to improve capacity building in all the 8 regions (Buganda, North East, Northern, West Nile, Eastern, Kampala, Western and Kitara) this week’s coaching course  is one of the many areas where the local soccer governing is putting a lot of emphasis.

    The only female participant – Arudo Anna Grace (2nd R). She is attending the coaching course with a class of 58 male participants in Soroti.

    The 59 coaches including Ebulu ‘Senior’ Simon of Olila Boys FC and Arudo Anna Grace (Olila High School ) are from the various clubs in the North East region playing in the different FUFA sanctioned football leagues-3rd, 4th, 5th plus the FUFA Women Elite League. Arudo is the only female taking part in this course handled by Harunah Kebba and is assisted by the regional local coaches Mike Erebu- Course Coordinator Sylus Oluka- Mobiliser and Geoffrey Okwi and Pastor Simon Ebetu.

    The participants will under go both theory and practical sessions but subject to examinations that will result into certification.

    2017 AFCON FINALS: FUFA & Ecobank launch major fundraising drive for Uganda Cranes, 50 fans to be flown to Gabon

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with Ecobank have officially launched a special fundraising drive for the national team, Uganda Cranes.

    Under the fundraising drive, 50 Uganda Cranes lucky fans will be transported to Gabon for an all-expenses paid for trip to watch the 2017 AFCON Finals. Uganda Cranes will be at the AFCON Finals for the first time in 39 years.

    The launch took place at Nile Hall, Serena Hotel Kampala where the Ecobank Managing Director Clement Dodoo, Executive Director Annette Kihuguru were joined by the other staff from the bank.

    The drive targets  to raise Ug.shs 6 Billion to help assist the National team prepare for the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

    The fundraising campaign has a slogan “MUJJE TULUMBE GABON NALO NA KAJA” where fans have to donate money through the Ecobank branches across the country or via mobile money on 0701-224433.

    Independent auditors BDO East Africa  have been hired to ensure the drive is transparent and effective.

    “Let me first congratulate the Uganda Cranes for qualifying to the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon. We shall be very transparent and we urge the public to contribute to this noble cause” Dodoo noted in his brief remarks.

    A Sports editor at the Red Pepper George Katongole won himself a ticket to Gabon after answering correctly a question paused to all in the hall. he answered that Togo is the country where the headquarters of Ecobank are found in Africa.

    Tuesday, 22nd November 2016 has once again been another landmark day in the history of Uganda’s football.

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with Eco Bank unveiled a sponsorship package worth Ug.shs 450M specifically for the Uganda Cranes.

    The three year sponsorship comes in timely of the Uganda Cranes’ preparation for the 2017 finals in Gabon.

    The well attended function at the Nile Hall, Serena Hotel in Kampala was graced by  the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.

    Eng. Magogo was joined by the Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredejovic, players (Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Nicholas Wadada), FUFA Vice President Dennis Mbidde, FUFA Executive Committee Member Rogers Byamukama, Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu, FUFA Marketing director Esther Musoke, FUFA Communications manager, Ahmed Hussein, ECO Bank managing director, Clement Dodoo, Eco Bank Executive Director Annette Kihuguru, other staff from the bank and the media personnel.

    Meanwhile, a fundraising drive where 50 Uganda Cranes fans will be transported to Gabon for an all-expenses paid for trip has been also launched.

    The drive intends to raise Ug.shs 6 Billion to help assist the national team prepare for the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

    The Uganda Cranes technical team will kick off early preparations for the 2017 AFCON Finals with four non residential training sessions before the end of November.

    With the 2016 CACAFA Senior Challenge cup still in balance, FUFA has heeded to the plans submitted by the Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

    ‘FUFA will support the technical team towards preparations and planning for the 2017 AFCON Finals, Gabon. It is a challenge to the team not getting an opportunity to play in the CECAFA Senior challenge Cup which had been included in the Cranes preparations for the AFCON Finals. We have had to change the plans’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein

    ‘Micho will release the detailed programme at the FUFA weekly press conference on Wednesday of the Uganda Cranes’ preparations for the 2017 AFCON Finals. The press conference will start at 10 am at FUFA House’ added Hussein

    FUFA Juniors League: Massa nets hat-trick for Kirinya Jinja SS

    Fred Massa a nephew to Uganda Cranes historic captain Geoffrey Massa netted the quickest goal over the weekend in the FUFA U-17 Juniors League. Massa, born on 30th June 2002 is a Senior One student at Jinja SS,scored after 37 seconds for Kirinya Jinja SS Junior and got his name on the score sheet with a hat-trick against JMC Hippos to take his tally to 5 goals this season. Kirinya Jinja SS won 4-2 in the Jinja derby. Massa also dons the same shirt number (11) just like the Cranes captain who led Uganda to the dreamland- 2017 AFCON Finals again after 39 years of waiting. Zziwa Vincent got the other goal for the victors.

    Joseph Mpanguzi got a brace for the home side JMC Hippos.

    IMPORTANT POINTS ABOUT THE FUFA Juniors League (U-17):
    1-All players underwent the mandatory MRI tests to establish their true age
    2-FUFA met all the costs of this exercise (MRI tests for the 16 clubs).
    3-All the 16 clubs ( Hat-trick Group, Treble Group) were given football equipment from FIFA and FUFA-20 soccer boots, 20 bibs, one set of jersey, two pairs of gloves, 20 pairs of shin guards and 15 balls.
    4-Referees officiating the 2016/17 FUFA Juniors League are all below 20 years and underwent the FUFA Young Referees Programme held at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
    5-All coaches handling the U-17 clubs in the FUFA Juniors League underwent a special FIFA/FUFA Youth coaches course in Njeru.
    6-FUFA will meet the costs of the coaches’ salaries in the FUFA Juniors League 2016/17 season.

    The Pepsi National beach soccer league returned to action with a couple of games on Sunday at Lido Beach, Entebbe.

    Defending champions, Nkumba Select were some of the sides that won their games on the day.

    Nkumba Select edged Mutesa 1 Royal University 6-5 in a close contest in a game Roch Somoka netted four times for Nkumba.

    Kabalagala Rangers were another side with comfortable result, winning 6-3 against Mengo Hospital who are yet to win a game.

    In the battle of universities, St Lawrence University beat KIU 6-4 as MUBS overcame YMCA 5-4.

    The league is divided into two groups – Hurriken and Moonson.

    The best four sides per group qualify for the play offs that start with quarter finals.

    The final round of the first round will come next Sunday at Lido.

    The 2016/17 FUFA Women Elite League resumed on Saturday with a couple of matches on card. The match in Soroti at Olila SS sports ground left many fans yearning for more women football activities in their region on Saturday.

    Gafford Ladies traveled to North East to face Olila FC with their minds set on National team player Ikwaput Fazilah. The Kyebando based side that scored a combined 10 goals (6-0 in Soroti and 4-0 at Kyebando) against Olila Women FC last season were shocked when they faced harder with another star player destroying them  instead of Ikwaput.

    Olila won 2-0 in Soroti thanks to Sharon Achieng’s brace.

    ‘It is unbelievable that we have lost this match. We shall bounce back and we need to accept that football is full of such results’ said Gafford Ladies top official Henry Barungi.

    Other results

    UCU Lady Cardinals won convincingly 5-0 against Western United. Maureen Kinavudori netted a hat-trick while Jackie Nakasi and Esther Kadondi added a goal each.

    Last season’s deputy champions She Corporates defeated She MAK 2-0 while the match between Defending champions Kawempe Muslim SS and Buikwe She Red Stars wasn’t played as the latter never showed up in Kawempe.

    Wakiso Hills were beaten at home 3-0 by Ajax Queens

    The match played on Sunday between Riness and Kampala Queens ended in a goalless draw.
