International friendly: Uganda Cranes to play Zambia

FUFA has confirmed that Uganda Cranes will play Zambia in an international friendly match on Tuesday 8th November, 2016 at Mandela National Stadium.

The friendly match will be used by head coach Milutin Sredojevic to try out his players just a few days to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on 12th November at the same stadium.

‘We have confirmed the match and we believe it will give the coach a good test for his players before playing Congo Brazzaville. We shall communicate further details to the public about the match’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.

The friendly match will bring to total 81 international matches  (Men- AFCON, CHAN and FIFA World cup qualifiers, Women, Beach soccer and Africa Youth Championship qualifiers) played under the reign of Eng. Moses Magogo from the time he was elected FUFA President in August 2013.

‘In order to approach world cup qualifier in the best competitive mood, we are happy that we shall provide a friendly match to our boys against Zambia. We shall be competitive and also assess the form of our players individually’ said Micho.

Sessions of theory and practical sessions were held during the course. The participants were evaluated based on their abilities to make presentations and conduct fitness training sessions.

On behalf of FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo,  Watson  who officially closed the course, stressed on the importance of this course.

‘FUFA President sent you greetings but cautioned the  coaches to avoid football politics. If a player is unfit, be open and tell the other technical team members about the problem’ said Watson.

‘Introduction to new training methods will be useful in your duties as fitness coaches. I believe coaching fitness trainers’ experience alone is inadequate. They must have sound scientific knowledge of physiological fitness training’ added Watson.

‘The physical and mental fitness of players is very important in order for them to make good decisions’ he added.

Watson  also thanked Gary for FIFA’s support towards this.
‘Without their active cooperation, it would not have been possible to conduct the course. He also thanked FIFA for the support’
