    FUFA cautions public dealing with banned Kavuma Kabenge on football matters

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has cautioned the football fraternity on making any contact and handling football matters with banned officials.

    FUFA is in receipt of a formal communication from the registered owners of Express FC, the team that is participating in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL), dissociating itself and requiring the current club employees, managers, officials, coaches and players not to make contact with any officials serving a ban from football activities.

    Part of the communication to various stakeholders signed by FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson reads

    ‘This is to remind the entire football public that making contact with persons serving football bans leads to sanctions by the FUFA Ethics Committee. FUFA further affirms that Julius Kavuma Kabenge was banned from football activities organised by or under FUFA for 11 years. This status may only change after 16th January 2023 or lifting of the ban by the appropriate bodies of FUFA as provided for in the FUFA Statutes and Regulations’

    FUFA further notified and reminded the stakeholders that;
    ‘At the beginning of the current football season, each club in the FUFA 1st Division League trading as Azam Uganda Premier league (AUPL) was required to submit its owners and the certificates of registration were issued to each club. It is therefore now clear to FUFA who owns which club that is participating in the AUPL’

    Watson believes that the statement will clear the air on the current status of Kabenge and to the rest of the public when it comes to football matters when dealing with a banned official.
