    Press Conference: FUFA / NIC to extend partnership

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and National Insurance Corporation (NIC) will address a joint press conference on Tuesday, 27th October 2015 in Kampala.

    This press conference will take place in the NIC Board room, 10th Floor on the NIC Building in Kampala, starting at 10 a.m

    Pertinent of this media briefing will be the renewal of  a long term partnership between the two institutions.

    NIC is one of Uganda Cranes and FUFA’s partners.

    The others are Bidco Uganda Limited (BUL), Nile Breweries Limited and Airtel Uganda is the official sponsor of the Uganda Cranes.

    The triumphant Uganda Cranes contingent that traveled to Sudan for the CHAN 2016 qualifier returned home on Monday afternoon aboard Ethiopian Airlines on flight ET 334.

    They were ushered home by the FUFA Vice presidents, Justus Mugisha, Darious Mugoye, Hamid Juma (head of technical and FUFA Executive committee member), FUFA communications director, Ahmed Hussein and the eagerly awaiting host of journalists.

    Uganda won the return leg 2-0 courtesy of Caesar Okhuti and Faruku Miya’s first half goals, to make it 4-0 on aggregate and qualify to the finals that will be staged in Rwanda.

    The ever interesting Pepsi national beach soccer league resumed with six matches played on match day five at Lido beach in Entebbe on Sunday, 25th October 2015.

    A total of 49 beautiful strikes were registered by the close of business on Sunday.

    Muteesa I Royal University caused the biggest shock on the day, defeating  Dalumba Interantional beach soccer club in a nail biting match.

    Dalumba dearly missed the services of last season’s MVP, Mathias Kigonya, who had traveled with the national football team, The Cranes for the CHAN return leg against Sudan in Khartoum.

    Muteesa 1 Royal University scored through a double set of braces from Julius Rulinda Julius and Crispus Kusiima before Primo Kimera Primo got the other goal.

    Dalumba’s Hamis Katende scored a hat-trick  John Kokas Opejo Kokas and Hamis Katende

    The loss for Dalumba means they who are currently off form also lost to Real Galacticals (8-3) and St. Lawrence (3-2) in the last previous matches. Dalumba Coach Kyabagu Billy is confident his side will bounce back in their next encounter against Kabalagala Rangers.

    Elsewhere,  in the monsoon group Nkumba select beat Talented 5-2. Douglas Muganga scored a hat trick while Allan Zirimenya and Daniel Nsubuga netted a goal apiece. Kampala City All stars edged Miami Kops 3-2 to grab their first win of the season.

    Mean while in the Hurriken group Real Galacticals walloped Stormers 8-3.

    Abdul Karim notched two braces while Kafero Hamis scored a hat trick. Denis Serukwaya scored the lone goal.

    Swaibu Kakwaya, Johnson Akileng and George Okecho scored the consolation goals for stormers.

    YMCA beat Kabalagala Rangers 4-1 while Kampala International University (KIU) edged Uhuru Titans 7-5. League resumes on November 1

  • FUFA Big League: Ndejje edges Bazza Holdings

    Mwima Abdullahi scored the only goal of the game between Ndejje University FC and Bazza Holdings in a match played at Kawempe Muslim Secondary school.

    Ndejje who won 1-0, scored their goal midway the first half.

    The match between Sporting United and Paidha Black Angels never ended as the day’s referee could not continue with officiating due to crowd trouble. The match was abandoned with the score at 0-0.

    Azam Uganda Premier League resumes on Tuesday, 27th October 2015

    The Azam Uganda Premier League returns to action on Tuesday, 27th October 2015 with five fixtures that will be played across the country.

    The matches follow a three week break that was planned to enable the national team prepare for the CHAN qualification home and away matches against Sudan.

    Five matches have been lined up with the other three fixtures earlier scheduled postponed.

    Simba football club, under the stewardship of Morley Byekwaso host URA F.C with a target of picking their first league season in as many games.

    Express F.C hosts giant killers, BUL F.C at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

    There is a big possibility that Express will miss the services of three of their star players in strikers Tony Odur, Casear Okhuti and defender Ayub Kizza who had traveled with the Uganda Cranes to Sudan.

    Soana F.C, coached by Charles Ayiekho host Sports Club Villa Jogoo at the Kavumba recreational stadium.

    Isaac Muleme of SC Villa is in doubt for the game since he was part of the Cranes contingent to Sudan.

    In Yesseri Waibi, SC Villa has a competent replacement for Muleme.

    The league sponsors have already communicated the would be screened live game between JMC Hippos and Maroons F.C will not be possibility but the cameras will keep rolling on Friday when SC Villa Jogoo hosts Express F.C in the Kampala derby.

  • Kampala region League: St Mary’s Nabweru remains unbeaten

    St Mary’s Nabweru maintained their perfect start to the season with yet another commanding 2-0 away victory over Bweyogerere FC in the Kampala region football League.

    Yunus Kavuma and Bashir Muki netted the goals for St Mary’s who have also beaten Wembley FC and Stegotta FC.

    At Kataka ground near Kiira Police Station, home side Kamwokya United FC defeated Future Stars 3-0 thanks to goals by attacking midfielder Isaac Ekadu, strikers Mubiru Ibrahim and Hassan ‘Muwaali’ Senoga.

    Kamwokya United lost their opening two games of the season but have since found their winning touch by posting two successive wins against City Lads (1-0) and now future Stars (3-0) without conceding.

    Uganda Cranes has sealed a slot to the finals of the Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) Rwanda 2016 after overcoming the Sudan Falcons 2-0 on Sunday at the Khartoum International stadium.

    Uganda’s goals on the day were scored by Caeser Okhuti and team captain, Faruku Miya towards the end of the first half.

    The Cranes thus qualify on a 4-0 aggregate victory.

    Head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic speaking to 102.1 FUFA f.m after the game said;

    We are grateful for this victory. We have now made it three in a row. Our focus remains on the CHAN finals in Rwanda in January 2016

    Sudan’s best chance fell to Seif Ali who hit the post during the start of the second half.

    Midfielder, Ivan Ntege was the only Uganda Cranes player booked in the game.

    We followed the instructions according to the plans set by the technical team. Team work helped us win” Ceaser Okhuti said in an interview on 102.1 FUFA f.m.

    Each of the triumphant team members was promised a winning bonus of $1000 per player by the FUFA President, Eng Moses Magogo.

    The team was also promised $1000 by goal keeper, Salim Jamal, who plays professional football in Sudan with El Merriekh football club

    Micho has made four changes from the line up that beat Sudan 2-0 in the first leg seven days ago at Nakivubo stadium handing starting berths to Okot Denis, Ibrahim Kiiza, Bernard Muwanga  and Erisa Sekisambu. Kiiza and Muwanga are making their maiden appearances for the national team.

    The Uganda Cranes conducted their last training on Saturday at the Khartoum stadium.

    Ugandan international goalie Salim Jamal Magoola officially welcomed the team comprised of only home based players to Sudan .

    Jamal paid a courtesy visit to the players at Grand Holiday Villa Hotel where the team is residing.

    ‘As a Ugandan football ambassador to Sudan, I had to meet the boys to give them courage that they can make it.’ narrated Salim

    He added that though he features for a Sudanese club, he’s a Ugandan who has his country at heart.

    He  promised boys $1000 for the team in case they eliminate Sudan.

    Salim features for Sudanese giants El Merikh which was eliminated at the Semi final stages of the African Champions league.

    The Uganda Cranes team left Entebbe International Airport on Friday evening at 6:20 p.m aboard Ethiopian Airlines on flight ET 333.

    They had a stop over in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, from where they continued with the journey to Khartoum where they landed after mid-night.

  • Ugandans for inaugural CAF standing Committee meetings in Cairo

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson and FUFA Honorary President Lawrence Mulindwa will be in Egypt this weekend for their inaugural meetings since their appointment in June,this year on various standing committees of Confederation of African Football (CAF).

    Watson and Mulindwa left yesterday while FUFA President Eng. Magogo will join them tomorrow. The trio have different programmes for the weekend as designed by the hosts and organisers CAF.

    Uganda has five people on various standing Committees at CAF.

  • FUFA Big League: Busia gets vital away win over Kira Young

    Waweru Vincent netted a brace to hand visitors Busia Fisheries a deserved 2-0 victory over Kira Young FC this evening the FUFA Big League.

    It was the only match that produced a win as the rest ended in draws.

    In Lira, home side Lira United drew 1-1- with West Nile region representatives. Bosco Sembajwe scored for the home side while Cromwel Rwothomio was on target for Paidha Black Angels.

    The other match between Boma Young and Artland never produced goals.

    The Uganda National team composed of local based players is set to leave for Sudan for their return leg match against Sudan.

    The players had an evening training session that left the coach a happy man.

    This group is looking sharp. Let us plan for the return leg with a lot of focus. We need the result to take us to Rwanda next year’ said Micho.

    A contingent of 30 people will fly to Khartoum aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 6.30 pm via Addis Ababa.

    Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will take his players through a light training session at the FUFA Technical Centre where they have been camping since Monday.

    He will name his final 18 man squad on Friday.

    On Thursday, the camp was boosted by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo’s visit who came along with the message from President of the republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni wishing the boys good luck for the return leg of the African Nations Championship against Sudan.

    2015/16 FUFA BIG LEAGUE (Thursday, 22nd October 2015 Results):

    Kireka United F.C 3-1 Masaka Local Council F.C

    Ndejje University F.C 3-1 CRO F.C

    Kirinya Jinja SS F.C 3-0 Hope Doves F.C

    Synergy F.C 2-1 Wandegeya F.C

    Proline Soccer Academy 2-1 Wakiso United F.C

    Kasese New Villa F.C 2-3 Sun City F.C

    Masavu F.C 0-0 Entebbe F.C

    Six of the seven games played on Thursday in the 2015/2016 FUFA Big League produced 22 goals.

    Only one fixture between rivals Masavu FC and Entebbe ended goalless at the Bugonga stadium.

    Entebbe F.C finished the game with ten men after Ali Hayattou Ssempijja saw red for unsporting character.

    The visitors, Masavu F.C missed a chance of taking the lead in the 42rd minutes after striker Charles Odeke blasted a kick from the penalty spot on the woodwork.

    Kireka defeated Masaka LC 3- 1 thanks to goals by George Senkaba  who netted a brace while Faisal Kivumbi got the other goal.

    Ndejje University FC picked up the same result against CRO with Steven Ategeka, Albert Mugisa and Ntege Anwar scoring for the home team in Luweero.

    Otim James got his name on the score before his teammate Magumba Musa grabbed a double for Kirinya Jinja SS against Hope Doves who have suffered their second successive game.

    Synergy beat Wandegeya FC 2-1 in Masaka.

    Shafic Baale and Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored for Synergy while Kahira Joseph got the goal for the visitors.

    Proline FC maintained their unbeaten home record posting another win against Wakiso United 2-1 at Nakivubo stadium.

    This match was broadcast live on  the football radio, 102.1 FUFA fm.

    Lubega ‘Torres’ Idrisa scored twice while Mustapha Kahinda netted for Wakiso who are yet to win a game in three outings so far.

    Kasese New Villa and Sun City were in the battle of the Kitara region and the match produced five goals.

    Owen Vito and Junior Bokiro scored for Kasese while Vincent Kasoke, Ronald Kamanje and Edrisa Mayanja got the goals for Sun City.

    The FUFA Big league returns Friday, 23rd October 2015 with a host of games.

    President Yoweri Museveni with FUFA President Eng.Moses Magogo at the Sc Villa @40 party. The communication between the duo has yielded into great results for football.

    A call from the highest political office in the country comes along with words of inspiration.

    This is exactly what happened on Wednesday evening when the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo received a call from HE President of the Republic of Uganda General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

    In a brief conversation the Fountain of Honour expressed happiness and satisfaction with the double victory of Uganda Cranes over the Comoros and Sudan in the AFCON 2017 and CHAN 2016 qualifiers respectively.

    The FUFA President delivered the message today during the official visit of the team camped at the FUFA Technical centre preparing for return leg of the African Nations championship against Sudan this Sunday in Khartoum.

    ‘I received a call from HE President of the Republic of Uganda congratulating you and the Senior team Uganda Cranes for posting wins against Comoros and Sudan recently. He wished you well in the upcoming game against Sudan and promised more support to the national team and football in general’ revealed a jovial FUFA President Magogo while delivering the message to the players.

    The FUFA President himself urged players not to relax because the job is not yet done till the final whistle on Sunday.
    He later re-echoed his promise of USD 1000 if the team qualifies for CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
    Magogo was with the National Teams Coordinator Patrick Ntege and Vice Chairman FUFA Technical Committee Livingstone Kyambadde .

    The Uganda Cranes will fly out on Friday evening aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
