     (3rd Round): Uganda 2-0 Sudan – 1st Leg

    Match was Live on the football radio, 102.1 FUFA f.m

    Frank Kalanda and team captain Farouk Miya scored two first half goals to give Uganda Cranes the command after winning 2-0 over Sudan at Nakivubo Stadium on Saturday.

    The ground was slippery after the overnight rains in Kampala prior to the game.

    Uganda finished the game with ten players after Hassan Wasswa Dazo was sent off for a professional foul.

    The well attended match was watched by the prime minister of Uganda, Hon Ruhakana Rugunda.

    The Cranes created further chances through Ceaser Okhuti and Miya but none could yield any fruitful dividend in terms of goal count.

    The Cranes re-group on Monday for a residential camp at the FUFA Technical center, Njeru.

    The return leg will take place in Khartoum on Sunday, 25th October 2015.

    The Uganda Cranes road to CHAN 2016 in Rwanda resumes on Saturday with the home game against Sudan.

    Head coach, Milutin Sredojevic has released the starting team alongside the other 7 substitute players for the game which starts at 4 p.m.

    Farouk Miya will skipper the team. A minute’s silence will be observed before the game for the dead Uganda She Cranes netball player, Harriet Apako.

    FUFA has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed in memory of the departed Uganda’s netball star player Harriet Apako before kick off of the African Nations Championship qualifier between Uganda and Sudan at Nakivubo stadium.

    The development was confirmed after this morning’s pre-match meeting held at the match venue in Kampala.

    ‘The two teams will observe a minute of silence before kick off. The match commissioner has accepted our request for this brief but significant ceremony for our sports legend. The Uganda Cranes players will also wear black armbands’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein

    Apako who played in the 2015 Netball World cup in Australia, passed away on Thursday morning and will be laid to rest today in Kaberamaido.

    The FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo flanked by the second Vice President Darius Mugoye together with National Team’s coordinator Patrick Ntege paid a courtesy visit to Africa Bible University Lubowa where the National team is camping on Friday.

    This was the second visit for the FUFA president to the camp within a space of two days.

    On Wednesday, Eng. Magogo watched the practice match as the national side overcame Sports Club Villa 4-2 at the same venue.

    While in a meeting with all the players and team officials, the FUFA President informed the players that everyone was on the National team on merit .

    Therefore it was up to them to justify their presence on the team.

    To motivate the players further, Eng Moses Magogo promised them a bonus of USD 1000 in case they qualify for CHAN 2015 in Rwanda.

    This seemed to excite the players together with the officials who at full volume clapped for the President’s message.

    Whenever there is a promise, we deliver, we do not have much that’s why we promise what we can afford .Therefore I urge to you play your role and we fulfill our promises

    Eng. Magogo consoled those who will not make it for the 18 man squad that it’s not the end of life.

    He informed them of the return leg to Sudan and the upcoming games of the 2018 world cup qualifiers, CECAFA and AFCON qualifiers .

    In this meeting, each of the players and officials were tasked to freely discuss their minds out for the betterment of the team.

    The Uganda National team composed of home based players has wound up its training today evening at Africa Bible University Lubowa .

    All the 23 summoned players were present till the last day when then coach will name the final 18 man squad for the Sudan match.

    The team captain Faruku Miya has promised to give in the best of his ability to lead the team to Rwanda where the CHAN competitions will be held in January 2015.

    I appreciate the coach for entrusting me with the arm band. As a leader, I will give in my best together with the rest of the teammates to get positive results.

    We shall use the home advantage and I call up all Ugandans to come and add up as the 12th player so that by the time we get to Sudan we would have reduced on the height of the hurdle to skipper the side

    Faruku Miya has been named captain of the Uganda Cranes team that will face Sudan in the final round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) this Saturday at Nakivubo stadium.

    Miya who features for Azam Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC takes over from Hassan Wasswa who skippered the Cranes against Tanzania over two legs but wasn’t summoned for this encounter.

    Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic said of Miya.

    Miya is also the U-23 National team captain.

    It is survival for the fittest between Uganda Cranes playing at home against their Sudanese counterparts.

    The Cranes intensified their training ahead of Saturday’s encounter with yet another training session on Thursday.

    The team had a morning indoor session which comprised team talk, simple demonstration drills to work on the errors observed in the earlier practice matches against Express FC and SC Villa Jogoo .

    In the talk session, the head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic tasked the  players to get rid of errors which may cost the entire nation a place at the CHAN finals due in Rwanda next year.

    All players are in the best condition physically, psychologically and health wise.

    Ivan Ntege one of the experienced players with the team noted that he is not bothered by the Sudanese national team  that boasts of players from El Meriekh and Al Ahly that reached the Semi-finals of the CAF Club champions league.

    In modern football there is no bad team, the best prepared team takes the day and we are well prepared and home advantage will count’ We played against El Meriekh at KCCA and we outplayed them. If we follow the coach’s instructions and work as a team we shall have a good result and reach the CHAN finals in Rwanda next year.

    Citizens FC have defeated Kasese New Villa 4-0 at Kakyeka stadium. Swaliki Bebeto Segujja netted a brace while Siraje Musindo and Makueth Wol Akeen got a goal each.

    At Mutessa II stadium (match broadcast live on 102.1 FUFA fm), Kireka United edged  home side Hope Doves 1-0. Semwogerere Banda netted the game’s solitary strike.

    Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says that the captain of the team will be named later today with a democratic vote.

    Mico will find a new skipper as Hassan Wasswa Mawanda was not summoned to the squad. Wasswa captained Uganda over two legs against Tanzania in the first round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and posted good results that took Uganda to this stage where they will face Sudan.

    We need one captain with an armband on Saturday while the other 10 players will be captains without armbands’

    The Serbian added that his team is now focused on improving certain ares ahead of Saturday’s match.

    ‘We need an iron team defence. Creative team build up. Effective team attack this Saturday’ said Micho.

    The return leg will be played on Sunday 25th October, 2015 in Khartoum with the winner over two legs qualifying for the 2016 CHAN Finals in Rwanda.

    The Uganda Cranes CHAN team registered a moorale boosting 4-1 victory over Sports Club Villa in a trial match at the African Bible University playground on Wednesday evening.

    The national team scored through Timothy Awani, Erias Ssekisambu, John Ssemazzi and Shafiq Bakaki’s glancing header.

    SC Villa managed to pull two goals back through Ambrose Kirya and John Adriko.

    This was the second game for the national team after Monday’s 2-0 loss to Express F.C at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

    The team training continues on Thursday before the last session on Friday.

    Sudan, who arrived on Wednesday shall play the Cranes at Nakivubo stadium on Saturday.

    The FUFA competitions department has released the programme for the 2nd edition of the FUFA Women’s Elite League.

    The league will kick off on 8th November at various play grounds. The fixtures will be released on 24th November.

    16 teams have confirmed participation with 11 from the inaugural League while five (5) teams have been promoted London College FC, Nansana, Mutesa I Royal University FC, Ghadafi Integrated Women FC and Devine Stars FC from Soroti.

    The detailed programme of the FWEL includes filling and returning of registration forms by 20th October, Issuance of fixtures on Saturday 24th October at FUFA House, Clubs half day training on player registration using electronic system and Kick off on the 8th November 2015.

    Meanwhile the FUFA spokesperson confirmed that all clubs and individual winners of the FUFA Women Elite 2015 season received their prize monies.

    ‘All clubs have received their prize monies and we are glad that they will start the season with some monies on their accounts’ said Hussein.

    Ugandan officials Ali Tomusange, Yusuf Awuye, Ali Mwebe and Ali Kalyango will be part of the Course for Referee Instructors (FUTURO III) in Cairo from 17th-22nd October, 2015.

    The FIFA funded course will focus on the education of referee technical instructors, referee fitness and futsal and/or beach soccer referee instructors from Member Associations (MAs).

    The Chairman of the FUFA International Match Organising Committee DR. Patrick Bernard Ogwel has confirmed that preparations of the Uganda vs Sudan match are in high gear.

    The two CECAFA rivals teams face off in the first leg of the third round of the African Nations championship on Saturday.

    CAF has appointed Eritreans to officiate the CHAN qualification game between Uganda Cranes and Sudan on 17th October, 2015 at Nakivubo Stadium.

    FUFA Big League: Match day two returns with 15 fixtures

    The second highest tier league in the country, The FUFA Big league will have 15 matches lined up for match day two.

    This follows the successful match day one fixtures played last week at the various play grounds.

    Games for match day two start on Thursday, 15th October 2015 with ten fixtures on card.

    Clubs as Hope Doves, Masavu F.C, Paidha Black Angels, Kirinya/Jinja S.S, Proline Soccer Academy, Entebbe F.C will be targeting for their second victories having won their respective match day one games.

    The other clubs shall play catch up with a sole goal of closing up the gap early in the season.

    Promotion of Big League Teams to Azam Uganda Premier League:

    Only two clubs (one per group) earn a direct slot to the elite league with the third determined via a promotional play-off.

    The two runners up from each group are the ones engaged in a promotional play off, first in the semi-finals before a main final is held.

    The advance team of the Sudan National team has arrived in the country ahead of Saturday’s match against Uganda Cranes at Nakivubo stadium.

    Hisham Gumaa a representative of the delegation jetted in yesterday afternoon while the rest of the team flies in tomorrow at 1pm aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

    The visitors will be accommodated at Grand Imperial Hotel.

    Meanwhile the return leg of the CHAN 3rdround between Sudan and Uganda will be played on Sunday 25th October, 2015.

  • Changes in FUFA Standing Committees: North East delegate Agnes Mugena replaces Kaliga

    The 9th FUFA Executive committee appointed Madam Agnes Mugena to provisionally occupy and act in the role of the Woman Member on the FUFA Executive Committee until the next FUFA General Assembly.

    Madam Agnes Mugena is a FUFA delegate from North East Region Football Association and is Chairperson and sole financier of FUFA Big League side Bukedea Town Council FC for the last three years

    TheExecuitve Committee also passed the following decisions;

    1-Appointments and adjustments of the FUFA Standing committees

    • Mr. Ojok Odur was appointed to replace Mr. Alex Luganda on the FUFA Legal Committee. Mr. Alex Luganda expressed that he could no longer perform his role as Chairman due to other engagements.
    • Mr. Kalibbala Chris was appointed as the Chairperson for the Women football committee and Agnes Mugena as the Deputy Chair person.
    • Mr. Okwi Peter was appointed on the Protocol Committee replacing Mr. Kachumu Steven ( who was appointed on the Disciplinary adjudication Chamber)
    • Mr. Kalungi Edward was appointed on the FUFA Security Committee replacing Mr. Badru Kiggwe ( who was appointed on the Disciplinary Investigation Chamber)
    • Mr. Kalibbala Chris was appointed as the Chairman of the FUFA Referees Standing Committee replacing Mr. Mpiima Samuel who was appointed as chairman of the Beach soccer and Futsal Committee.
    • Mr. Hamid Juma was appointed to replace Mr. Kalibbala Chris as the Chairman of the Protocol committee and also retained his role as the chairman of the FUFA Technical committee.

    2-Passing the FUFA Ethics Code

    At FUFA we strive to safeguard the integrity and reputation of association football in Uganda. It is our key objective to protect the image of football, and especially that of FUFA, from jeopardy or harm as a result of illegal, immoral or unethical methods and practices.

    We believe that the public that consumes football should be given the best assurances that the beautiful game is managed by a responsible and accountable body and the people therein.

    Therefore, the 9th FUFA Executive Committee passed the FUFA Ethics Code to achieve this objective. The code will be communicated to you at the earliest as its enforcement started with immediate effect.

    3-Adoption of FIFA Performance Programme Recommendation

    After the conclusion of the Executive Committee Retreat with the FIFA Team and a set of recommendation set by the team, the 9th FUFA Executive Committee adopted the recommendation and thereafter turns into a working document.

    The FIFA Panel comprised of Mr. Patrick Onyango, Damil Faye, Gorviden Thondoo and Emy Casaletti Bwalya for the Performance review done and pledged to pursue the action Plan that has been agreed on.

     

  • Appointments: FUFA Judicial Bodies

    Following the amendments passed by the 91st FUFA General Assembly held in Soroti on 27th September 2015 and in compliance with Article 35 (h) and 68 of the FUFA statutes; the amendments resulted in having three FUFA judicial Bodiest the Appeals, Disciplinary, Ethics and Integrity committees as the judicial bodies.

    The Disciplinary committee shall handle the on-pitch matters and is divided into the investigatory and adjudication chambers.

    The Ethics and Integrity committee will henceforth handle matters that are off-pitch and is also divided into the Investigatory and Adjudication chambers.

    The 9th FUFA Executive Committee henceforth appointed the following persons to perform their duties with immediate effect on the respective bodies but shall be presented to the next FUFA General Assembly for appointment.
