    FUFA WOMEN ELITE LEAGUE FINAL: Mother, Daughter to spice up Kawempe, Buikwe clash

    For the third time this season the local football fraternity will be entertained to another round of Mother vs Daughter battle in the FUFA Women elite League final.

    Yes, the mother is Annet Nakimbugwe of Buikwe She Red Stars and the daughter is Hasfa Nassuna of Kawempe Muslim Secondary school.

    On both occasions, Nassuna’s team has finished top winning the two matches 1-0 in the first round and 2-0 in the return fixture.

    However the final will be on neutral ground. Will Nassuna come out on top again?

    Tuesday’s playoff fixtures at Nakivubo stadium,managed to decide the two teams for the final due this Saturday on the same venue.

    Buikwe She Red Stars defeated Western United 3-0 in the first semi final while Kawempe edged She Corporates 2-1 thanks to goals by Nakayenze Yudaya and Hasfa Nassuna while Jackie Nassali got the consolation for She Corporates.

    Hadijah Nampijja, Winnie Babirye and Agnes Namakula netted for Buikwe She Red Stars.

    The final will be played on Saturday at 4pm however the third place play off will kick start the day’s proceedings.

    Twenty three (23) of the summoned 28 players turned up for Uganda Cranes African Nations Championship (CHAN) residential training session conducted at the FUFA technical Centre in Njeru, Jinja on Tuesday.

    While speaking to fufa.co.ug after the team’s training session, Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic heaped praise on his players and he is optimistic the team will get positive results on Saturday.

    ‘I am absolutely satisfied. Everyone is committed. We are in good spirits to put up a fight on Saturday’ said the Serbian.

    The evening training session also had BUL’s attacking midfielder Milton Karisa and is relishing the moment with the national team.

    ‘I have been given this chance which I must use to perfection and prove I deserve to be in the National team’ stated Karisa.

    Meanwhile Benjamin Ochan, Martin Kizza, Hassan Wasswa and Erisa Sekisambu are expected to join the rest of the squad today after featuring in the Uganda cup final won by SC Villa at Namboole stadium yesterday.

    Sports Club Villa overcame Kampala City Council FC 3-0 in the replay of the Uganda Cup at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday evening.

    YOUTH FOOTBALL: 5th FUFA-Airtel Rising Stars season launched

    The 5th edition of the FUFA – Airtel Rising Stars was launched on Monday, 15th June 2015.

    The Airtel Rising Stars is a football tournament for both boys and girls Under 17 years of age played across the country with the national finals held to determine the respective gender’s champion.

    The Federation was represented by Dr Benard Patrick Ogwel, who is also the chairman of the local organizing committee –  Airtel Rising Stars, Vice President Justus Mugisha and Technical Director Asuman Lubowa at the Launch.

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that international referees from Kenya will handle the replay of the Uganda cup final between Sc Villa and KCC FC on Tuesday 16thJune,201 at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    The match kicks off at 3.30 pm.

    Having discussed the possibility of bringing international referees-an idea fronted by both sets of club officials in yesterday’s meeting at FUFA House, FUFA took on the initiative and contacted the Kenyan Football Federation.

    ‘We confirm the appointment of referees by the Kenya Football  Federation for the Uganda cup final tomorrow. Our request was granted and both clubs have welcomed the decision for international referees handle the match’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein.

    Initially FUFA had appointed a set of Ugandan referees to take charge of match.

    The referees appointed by the Kenyan Football Federation are; Odhiambo Oliver Omondi (Referee) to be assisted by Otieno Andrew Juma and Tony Mudayi Kidiya. Alex Muhabi will be the 4th official while Mawanda Haruna is the match assessor and Darius Mugoye-the Match Commissioner.

    Uganda Cranes players rewarded for beating Botswana

    The Uganda Cranes players who featured in the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Botswana on Saturday left camp a happy group.

    The players’ efforts for picking up a 2-0win over Botswana landed them a reward of $ 1000 each as promised by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo last week when he met the players at Sky Hotel in Nalya.
    The promise was fulfilled by the federation on Saturday when the 18 man squad received $18,000 while the remaining seven players who were in camp but never made the final squad got $500 each.
    Immediately after the match FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo talked to the players in the dressing room.
    The FUFA President commended the players for the good start but also cautioned them.

    ‘This is a marathon campaign. We have five more games to play. You need to report back on time as required by your club rules. Let’s not have issues with the clubs that did a good job of releasing you for national duty’ said Magogo.
    The first goal scorer Geoffrey Massa said that he dedicated his goal to his daughter Judith Massa who celebrated her 7th birthday on 5th June.
    ‘I promised Judith a great birth day gift of a goal for Uganda Cranes. I am happy I have fulfilled my promise to Judith aid Massa
    Brian Umony who scored the second goal for the Cranes said he was happy for the good start and the aim of the team was to get the three points. He added that scoring comes as a result of team work and promised more for the nation in order to achieve the dream of qualifying for AFCON.

    Umony thanked the Almighty, the team coaches and officials, players plus the fans for contributing to the victory.
    The next AFCON 2017 qualifier game is against Comoros on 5th September 2015 in Moroni.

    The FUFA referees Standing Committee (FRSC) has released the list of officials to handle the replay of the Uganda cup final between Sc Villa and KCC FC on Tuesday 16thJune, 2015 at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    The Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Mciho’ Sredojevic will be back to business with a collection of home based players in preparation for the first leg first round of the Orange African Nations Championship in Zanzibar this Saturday.

    The players minus those from KCC FC and SC Villa (preparing for the Uganda cup final) will enjoy a non-residential camp today when they train at Kabira country club at 4O’clock in the afternoon.

    Uganda Cranes players Farouk Miya will be excluded from today’s training session following his inclusion in the team that saw him play the entire 90 minutes as Uganda beat Botswana 2-0 at Namboole in the opening match of the 2017 AFCON Campaign.

    On Tuesday, Micho will take his squad to the FUFA Technical centre, Njeru for a residential camp and also to acclimatise with the artificial turf.

    The replay of the Uganda Cup final between SC Villa and KCC FC will go ahead on Tuesday 16th June,2015 after a joint meeting was held today at FUFA house in preparation for the fixture at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    Officials from FUFA and both clubs attended the meeting.

    FUFA had a strong delegation led by President Eng. Moses Magogo,Vice President Darius Mugoye and Competitions Director Ali Mwebe.

    Sc Villa had its President Eng. Ben Misaga, Muhammad Bazirengedde, CEO Ivan Kakembo and Medi Nsereko Sebuliba.

    KCC delegation had Chairman Julius Kabugo, David Tamale and Peter Kibazo.

    In the joint consultative meeting, the clubs were also notified that the cautions picked up by players during the abandoned match in Ntungamo would stand while a 90 minute match will be played on Tuesday at 3.30pm.

    More details of the replay will be communicated tomorrow after another meeting between FUFA Competitions department and the two clubs.

    AFCON 2017 QUALIFIER – Group D:

    Uganda Cranes 2-0 Botswana Zebras

    Uganda Cranes have kick started the AFCON 2017 qualification journey with a 2-0 win against Botswana at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.

    The goals for the Cranes were scored by Geoffrey Massa and Brian Umony in the second half of the game.

    Massa, the team skipper opened the scoring in the 54th minute after heading William Luwagga’s crossed ball.

    Brian Umony, who plays for Ethiopian champions, St George Football Club doubled Uganda’s lead.

    The second goal was a result of a well crafted move started by Farouk Miya before Kizito Miya laid the ball in Umony’s path who made no mistake from inside 10 yards.

    The match was handled by FIFA referees from Tanzania.

    The other group D match between Burkina Faso and Comoros was won by the West Africans through Aristide Bance’s 61st minute and  a late Jonathan Zongo strike 8 minutes from time.

    The match was played in the Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou.

    The result means Uganda and Burkina Faso jointly lead group D.

    The Uganda Cranes and their visitors from Botswana are set to hold their last training sessions on Friday ahead of Saturday’s AFCON 2017 group D qualifier.

    Cranes will train first then Botswana at 4:00 p.m for one hour at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

  • UGANDA VS BOTSWANA UPDATE: Free access for Azam Uganda Premier League players

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), sponsors Airtel and partners (Nile special, NIC and BIDCO) of the Uganda Cranes have manged to find a solution that allows all players in the topflight gain free access to this Saturday’s 2017 AFCON Qualifier between Uganda Cranes and Botswana at Namboole stadium.

    ‘All players in the top flight -Azam Uganda Premier League will gain free access to Saturday’s match. The latest development caters for the 25 registered squad players per club for last season including the newly promoted teams Maroons, The Saints and Jinja Municipal Council’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein.

    ‘Players will be required to get all information about the tickets for the access to Namboole on saturday from their clubs officials’ added Hussein.

    The relegated teams at the end of the 2014/2015 season will not be considered.

    Meanwhile tickets are already on market going for 20,000/-, 50,000/- and 120,000/=

    The Ugandan international who features for Kenyan giants Gor Mahia Godfrey Walusimbi famously known as ‘’Jajja Walu ‘’ has joined the rest of the teammates who started residential training on Sunday 7th June 2015.

    The Uganda national team the Cranes has camped at Sky Hotel Nalya preparing for the International encounter against the Botswana national team “The Zebras “all vying for a slot at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

    I am very excited to be part of the team .Though I delayed to join the rest, I am now settled from all disturbances from the club and now focused for positive results on Saturday

    In reaction to Walusimbi’s arrival the Cranes’ head coach, Milutin Sedrojevic  expressed his excitement for receiving the player and said he would asses him for the remaining days if he can convince him to be included in the team to play on Saturday.

    In a related development, the National team of Botswana, The Zebras is expected to arrive in Uganda on Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Uganda this coming Saturday.

    The team shall come with South African Airlines.

    Uganda Cranes warmed up for the upcoming AFCON 2017 qualifier against Botswana Zebras with a one all draw against Gambia in international friendly match played on 9th June 2015 (National Heroes day).

    Uganda opened the scoring with second half substitute, Robert Sentongo, who replaced Yunus Sentamu at the start of the second half scoring the opener with a great headed effort past goal keeper, Jobe Modou in the 61st minute of the game.

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) marketing department has added four more ticket selling points to the originally released selling points.

    The four new centers are;Vee Baby Centre-Shop G.E 2, Level 3 Mini Price Arcade, Shell Lugogo By-Pass, Oryx Lugogo By-Pass (Former Enger Petrol Station) and Kings Sports Center (with three stations at Kalerwe, Kawempe Town and Bwaise selling points).

    All the tickets have been distributed already to the selling points and our fans can now buy them from the authorized outlets

    Meanwhile, the visitors from Gambia are preparing for their own away tie to South Africa in the same AFCON 2017 qualification campaign.
