  • AZAM UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: Vipers Defeat SC Villa, Edge Closer To Title

    Vipers Sports Club have beaten 16 time league winners 2-0 at Nakivubo stadium on Friday to set alight their chances of winning their second ever league title.

    Deus Bukenya opened the scoring in the first half before Uganda Cranes midfielder cum striker got the second.

    With only one game remaining per team, and a pending SC Villa appeal, Vipers sports club open a 4point lead and surely have prepared the champagne with the last game of the season coming against BUL at Buikwe stadium.

    The defending champions, Kampala City Council (KCC) continued with their disappointing run of the season, losing 1-2 to Soana at Kavumba recreational stadium.

    Soana thus keep alive their chances of survival with their last game coming at the same ground against Police F.C.

    At the Mehta stadium in Lugazi, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) won 2-1 at home over visiting Police F.C.

    At Bugonga stadium in Entebbe, the home side lost by the biggest margin of the season 0-7 to Kira Young.

    Away in Jinja, BUL held traveling Express to a goal-less draw at the Kakindu stadium.

    The last day of the current season comes on Tuesday, 19th May 2015 with all the teams in action.

    The trophy will be given out to the winning team then and the third side to be relegated will be known.

    Already Entebbe and Rwenshama have been relegated.

    Now the battle to be dropped to the FUFA Big league pool lies between Kira Young, Soana, Lweza and Simba.

    Lweza is away to the reigning champions, KCC, Kira Young host Simba at Namboole and Police plays Soana in the Kavumba derby.

    Gafford Ladies head coach Henry Barungi has revealed to www.fufa.co.ug that there is a special plan to stop leading scorer Sandra Nabweteme when the Kawempe Muslim secondary travels to Cleveland along the Northern Bypass.

    Barungi has confirmed that they signed new players and he expects them to improve his team.

    ‘We conceded five goals in the first round against Kawempe but don’t expect that to happen again on Saturday’ said Barungi.

    Nabweteme who has scored 14 goals so far, was on target with a hat-trick when Kaempe played Gafford in the first round.

    Meanwhile Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalifan is concerned about his players who have a lot of fatigue.

    ‘My players are training now for the final session ahead of tomorrow’s match but they look tired after taking part in the Nations schools girls football championship which they won in Mbarara’ said Khalifan.

    Kawempe is the only team yet to lose and even concede a game. They have won all their five games.

    In a related development, the FUFA Competitions committee has confirmed the rescheduling of two matches in the FUFA Women elite league that were due to be played on Sunday and have been fixed for tomorrow. Gafford vs Kawempe and Eastern Heroes vs Kakira are the affected fixtures.

  • REFEREEING: FUFA referees’ boss says his team is ready for the final bend of the season

    The FUFA Referees standing committee chairman Sam Mpiima says that the local football fraternity needs to have a lot of faith and trust in the referees.

    Mpiima says that it is important to believe is his team that has been officiating in the entire season so far.

    Mpiima’s comments come a few hours to the second last round of the Azam Uganda Premier League with a highly anticipated games set to be played this afternoon.

    ‘The 17 laws of the game will be applied and we expect our match officials to execute the work to their very best’ said Mpiima.

    The competition is still on for teams at top half trying to win the league title while those in the bottom half fighting for relegation.

     

  • FUFA JUNIORS LEAGUE: KCC to host St Mary’s Heritage

    FUFA has confirmed that all is set for the kickoff of the inaugural FUFA Junior league designed to cater for players under the age of 17.

    The opening game of the season is due this Sunday at the Philip Omondi stadium with KCC FC playing host to st Mary’s Heritage from Nabweru.

    The FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe revealed to www.fufa.co.ug that registration of players and teams is in its final stages.

    ‘We expect a good start to this league. All stakeholders in football need to welcome and support the project which is a foundation of Ugandan football’ said Mwebe.

    Thirteen teams have been registered for the FUFA Juniors League.

     

     

     

  • Uganda’s FIFA referees appointed for Sudan vs Sierra Leone 2017 AFCON qualifier match

    Four Ugandan referees with FIFA badges have been appointed to handle the 2017 AFCON qualifier match between Sudan and Sierra Leone in Khartoum next month. Experienced referee Denis Batte will be the man in charge of the game and will be assisted by Mark Ssonko and Okello lee. Another experienced FIFA referee Brian Nsubuga Miiro has been named as the reserve referee for the match to be played on 14th June.

  • AZAM UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: Battle of Titans For SC Villa Against Vipers

    The Azam Uganda Premier league takes the second last bend as all the eight teams are in action on Friday evening.

    Friday’s eight fixtures come at a time when the league is expected to officially close on Tuesday, 19th May 2015 with the final games.

    On Friday, table leaders, Vipers Sports Club entertain Sports Club Villa in a highly billed encounter and potential title decider before Tuesday’s final games.

    Vipers lead the 16 teams’ table standings on 63 points, a point better of Sports Club Villa.

    Both teams have quality players and the game is expected to be very close to call.

    Vipers’ Faruku Miya, Kezironi Kizito and Michael Mutyaba midfield will be tested by SC Villa’s trio of Isaac Kirabira, Christztom Ntambi and Augustine Nsumba.

    Whereas left back, Isaac Muleme has been already ruled out for SC Villa because of injury, Vipers has no fresh injury concerns.

    In the other games, URA host Police at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi.

    Away in Entebbe, Kira Young, who skipped their last training because one of their players, Marlon Tangawuzi lost a daughter, visit the already relegated Entebbe F.C at Bugonga stadium.

    Simba play host to Sadolin Paints at the Bombo Military stadium.

    Jinja will have another football team in the Azam Uganda Premier League next season.

    After today’s action of the FUFA Big League play offs at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo, Jinja Municipal Council who defeated Masaka LC 1-0 and Jinja SS Kirinya seeing of Water 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw will not won BUL FC and Sadolin in the top flight next season.

    The play off final is slated for this Saturday at 2pm while the leaders in each group The Saints (Rwenzori) and Maroons (Elgon) will clash for the glittering trophy at 4pm. The venue for both matches is at the Philip Omondi Stadium,Lugogo.

  • SC Villa appeals decision taken by FUFA Disciplinary committee

    Title chasing Sc Villa have lodged an appeal trying to reverse a decision taken by the FUFA disciplinary committee regarding the initial award of points in the game the Jogoos played against URA in the Azam Uganda Premier League. URA is alleged to have used a suspended player Said Kyeyune in the mentioned match.

    In a statement which Villa released this afternoon it reads ‘This statement is to express our displeasure and dissatisfaction with the verdict because there was conflict of interest. One member of the committee was supposed to withdraw himself from the committee as stipulated by the Fufa Disciplinary Code. That official never did that. It’s on that and more grounds that we appeal this verdict’

    In their statement they further wrote that ‘our plea to the FUFA Appeals Committee through the FUFA Competitions is to have our game against Vipers postponed from Friday 15, until our appeal is disposed off’

    The statement was signed by Sc Villa’s CEO Ivan Kakembo.

    ‘FUFA is in receipt of the Appeals letter from Villa and we shall communicate to the Chairman of the Appeals committee Mr. Richard Kiboneka and his team to handle the matter’said FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.

    Uganda Cranes will play Gambia in an International friendly slated for 9th June 2015 at Mandela National stadium in Namboole.

    While addressing the press today morning at the Federation of Uganda football Associations [FUFA] headquarters in Mengo, Uganda Cranes tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredjovic announced the good news about the international friendly game and he thinks it will be helpful for him to assess his side a head the Cranes 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers group opener against Botswana on Saturday 13th June 2015 at Namboole.

    ‘I want to thank FUFA for the effort to acquire us this friendly game and I think the game will give us a good atmosphere to assess the players before we take on Botswana’ said Micho

    FINANCE: FUFA needs 7.5billion shillings for National Teams’ international engagements

    The FUFA Finance director Decolas Kiiza has revealed that 7.5 billion shillings is needed to cater for the Uganda National team’s international engagements that kick off on 23rd May, 2015 when Uganda takes on Rwanda in Kigali in the Africa U-23 Championship.

    Kiiza was addressing the media during the launch of the 2017 AFCON Campaign that will see Uganda play Burkina Fasso, Comoros and Botswana.

    FUFA is expected to raise the funds from gate collections, government, sponsorships and well wishers.

    The breakdown of the budget will see FUFA allocate Shs.3.75bn  on the 2017 AFCON campaign, Shs.600M on U-23, CHAN Qualifiers Shs. 1bn  and Shs. 1.1bn on the two 2018 World cup qualifiers.

    ‘We expect gate collections to raise Shs.1.4bn and sponsorships Shs.1.35bn ‘ revealed Kiiza

    Kiiza added that ‘There will be a deficit of Shs.4.8bn.  but we have already kicked off our mobilisation campaign to look for funds. We have contacted various stakeholders including government’ said Kiiza.

    Kiiza also said that there are plans to use a chartered plane to fly the Uganda Cranes when they play Burkina Faso with both teams set to face off twice in a space of nine days in March, 2016.

    Kiiza further said that the charges for the forthcoming matches will be released after the International Match Organising Committee has held a meeting this week.

    Sports Club Villa and Soana won away from home as the Azam Uganda Premier League resumed on Tuesday.

    It was a home victory for Lweza against visiting Jinja side, Sadolin Paints at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

    SC Villa needed a first half own goal from defender, Paul Nkata to win the game against Kira Young at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole.

    SC Villa now complete their game in hand that put them level with all the teams on games played (28).

    At Nakivubo stadium, Soana took the lead through Rashid Kyambadde before Musa Nakibinge found the equalizer for a draw opening first half.

    Sulaiman Majanjalo then gave the home side the lead but two late goals from Godfrey Kakembo and Allan Kayiwa helped Soana recover to keep on course against the relegation monster with two games left for all the teams.

    At Mutesa II Stadium, Wankukulukuku, Lweza overcame Sadolin Paints 2-0 with two goals coming in two different halves.

    Michael Sserumaga opened the scoring before  Moses Ndaula got Lweza’s  second goal.

    In Entebbe, Entebbe F.C and URA played to a goal-less draw.

  • FUFA Disciplinary Committee on the appeal lodged by URA against Azam Uganda Premier League ruling.

    The FUFA Disciplinary committee, chaired by Mr Ojok Geoffrey Odur with Mr Jacob Lubega (secretary) and Edirisa Kasalirwa has on Tuesday passed a ruling to deduct two points from Sports Villa that they had been rewarded by the Uganda Premier league on 17th April 2015.

    SC Villa had been given the two points from their fixture against URA (played on 10th April 2015) which had ended in a 1 all draw.

    URA appealed the decision with an appeal document dated 17th April 2015 and a video recording of the fateful game (match 64 – URA vs Soana), together with the UPL referees report forms of the matches 64, 116, 169 and 182.

    In a ruling attended by Mr Bernard Bainamani (represented Azam Uganda Premier league), Mr Henry Mayeku and Edward Kulubya (URA) and Mr Ivan Kakembo (SC Villa), the committee was to ascertain whether URA F.C fielded an ineligible player as SC Villa alleged.

    The committee exercises the absolute discretion in regard of proof and finds that;

    – Kyeyune (the player in question) was indeed yellow carded on match 64 but for the mistake in recording Sekubomba was instead recorded.

    – That Kyeyune was actually rested on match 128.

    The disciplinary committee has however left the doors open for an appeal for any party not satisfied by the ruling.

    The Boma play ground in Yumbe district will be the place to be on the 16th and 17th May 2015 as the FUFA West Nile regional league comes to a climax.

    Four teams are in contention for one available to that lucky team to play in the 2015/16 FUFA Big league.

    Koboko Rising Stars from Koboko, Vurra F.C from Moyo, Onduparaka F.C from Arua and Adjumani Town Council from Adjumani district are the four teams.

    Action of the semi finals between Koboko Rising Stars Vs Vurra will kick off at 2 p.m. The second game will be between Onduparaka and Adjumani Town Council at 4 p.m before the finals the following day.All the three matches will be played at Boma ground in Yumbe.

    Luke Asua, the chairman, Competitions committee of the West Nile region confirmed to www.fufa.co.ug.

    Vurra  top of Nile Zone group with 30 points having won 10 matches and lost just two.

    Adjumani Town Council were the runners up with 23 points.

    In the Nyagak Zone, Onduparaka topped the group standings with 24 points, 4 better of the second placed Koboko Rising Stars.

    The eventual winner is set to join Zombo’s based club, Paidha Black Angels that plays their home games at the Bar Okoro play ground.

    Already, Buganda and Northern regions have completed their play offs.

    Masavu will play in the FUFA Big league next season on Buganda’s ticket as Lira United qualified from the Northern region.

    There was excitement and joy unlimited when Masavu Football Club beat Luwero United 5-4 in penalties to qualify for the 2015/16 FUFA Big league.

    Normal time for the two side had ended all square in a one all draw.

    Andama Omarion scored for Masavu 6 minutes after the half hour, a team based at Kitubulu, Entebbe before Hassan Katamba replied quickly with a well drilled shot from 30 yards to cancel Masavu’s lead.

    She Corporate 1-0 Wakiso Hills at MUBS, Nakawa

     

    Dorothy Nakato scored the all important goal for She Corporates FC who edged Wakiso Hills 1-0 at MUBS, Nakawa.

    Nakato scored under a minute even before her team’s opponents could get settled. Wakiso are yet to win a game this season.

    The other game played today at Makerere University main ground, She MAK St FC drew 0-0with UCU Lady Cardinals. The two sides squared off in the first round in Mukono with the exact result.

    Saturday’s only game saw Gafford Ladies defeat Eastern Heroes 2-0. Fallone Najimana and Fatumah Kankindi scored for Gafford.

    Three fixtures were postponed following requests by various teams. The FUFA Competitons committee will refix dates for the three fixtures postponed.

  • TRAINING: U-23, CHAN players enjoy work out at Lugogo

    The Uganda U-23 and CHAN squads had yet another successful training session at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo this (Sunday) morning.

    With a joint squad of 44 players, only eight from KCCA FC who trained with their club in the morning could not afford another two-hour vigorous session.

    National teams’ head coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was happy with the session and said that effective next weekend separate training sessions will be arranged for the two squads in preparations for their respective engagements.

    The Uganda U-23 team is training for the 2016 Africa Olympic qualifiers against the winner on aggregate between Somalia and Rwanda who play in Djibouti later today. Rwanda won the first leg at home 2-0.

    ‘This was our last joint training session. Next Sunday, we shall separate the players and focus on specific approaches. We shall focus more on the U-23 because their game is soon’ Sredejovic said after the training.

    Micho has clearly spelt out training programmes for the U-23, CHAN and the senior Uganda Cranes teams’ Olympic, 2016 Africa Nations Championships and2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers respectively that will come in short successions this year.

    Home based Uganda Cranes players play Tanzania in the first round, first leg of the 2016 CHAN qualifiers in Dar es Salaam on June 20.

    The return leg is on July 4, at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

    Micho said that he is impressed with the players’ enthusiasm at training and urged other stakeholders to demonstrate support for the cause if the country has to qualify for any of the competitions.

    Meanwhile FUFA communications department has named Kenyi Swalleh as the media officer to be in charge of the two U-23 fixtures coming up for the Kobs. He will be assisted by Hamza Nsereko.
