    FIFA Opens Disciplinary Proceedings Against SC Villa over Okwi Transfer

    The world’s soccer governing body, FIFA has given SC Villa up to 25th February 2015 to provide any documentary evidence regarding the transfer of Emmanuel Arnold Okwi in 2013.

    In a communication dated 4th February 2015 and signed by Jamie Cambreleng Contreras (Deputy Secretary to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee) to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), FIFA notes that in its investigations SC Villa did not comply with its obligations under the transfer regulations in accordance with Article 9.2 Paragraph.
    Part of the letter reads;

    We have taken note that on 13th December 2013, the club SC Villa introduced in the Transfer Matching System (hereinafter, TMS) a transfer instruction (TMS instruction 81299), regarding the transfer of the player Emmanuel Arnold Okwi to your affiliated club SC Villa, under the category “Engage out of contract free of payment”, thus initially asserting that no amount was paid in connection with such transfer. Nevertheless, according to the transfer agreement dated 12th December 2013 that was uploaded into TMS and to the preliminary investigation carried out by TMS, it appears that the amount of USD 20,000 was to be effectively paid by the club SC Villa to SC Villa.’

    Should SC Villa fail to submit the statement by the specified deadline, the FIFA Disciplinary committee, will decide on the case using the evidence on this matter.

  • FUFA LEGAL COMMITTEE BOSS: We have never signed any contract with Super Sport

    The Head of the FUFA League committee Alex Luganda cleared the air on matters concerning the sponsorship of the men’s Elite League and the ongoing rumours about the disbandment of sports federations including FUFA by National council of sports.

    _DSC0065
    In a jovial mood, Luganda told the media that FUFA decided to find another partner for the top league after USSL failed to meet their side of the bargain as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year.
    ‘FUFA has never signed a contract with Super sport. We have decided with the clubs to move forward by welcoming Azam in sponsoring the Elite league since nothing was coming through from USSL’ said Luganda.
    Luganda who authoritatively answered all questions paused to him by the sports media about the talk on disbandment of FUFA and the League sponsorship further said that;
    ‘It is not our style to go to the courts of law to solve football matters. In case any one takes us to court, we shall be ready for that moment’
    Luganda also informed the media that FUFA fulfilled 99% all the requirements by NCS about the sports regulations and handed in the necessary documentation.

  • FUFA STATEMENT ON SPONSORSHIP OF THE ELITE LEAGUE, MAGOGO TO ADDRESS MEDIA

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) wishes to clarify on key issues related to the sponsorship of the top flight league-Azam Uganda Premier League.
    Following the take-over of the broadcasting and naming rights of the Elite League by Azam Media Ltd, FUFA brings to the attention of the football fraternity that;

    • FUFA has never signed any contract with Super sport in regard to the sponsorship of the country’s Elite League.

    • The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between FUFA and Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) in 2014 was a give and take for both parties. Whereas FUFA duly obliged to the MOU by not denying USLL and their agents to broadcast any of the Uganda Premier League matches, USLL did not fulfill their obligation of paying FUFA and the Clubs.

    • It is a fact that USLL received money from Super sport meant for referees and the clubs but the monies never reached the final beneficiaries.

    • As guided by the MOU signed between FUFA and USLL, the mediation process did not deliver consensus.
    • The non-performance by USLL led to the termination of the MOU for the good and development of the game hence opening up opportunities for other potential partners.

    • FUFA and the Clubs have now signed with Azam Media Ltd. Consequently, FUFA and the Clubs have already received funds with players and referees expected to benefit immediately.

    • Finally, FUFA would like to assure the football fraternity that their new partners Azam Media Ltd will be given the full backing by maintaining a healthy environment for their investment in Ugandan football.

    FUFA will further make clarification on this matter when President Eng. Moses Magogo and Legal Committee chairman Alex Luganda address the media tomorrow during the weekly press conference 10am at FUFA House.
