Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has promised to go on the offensive in today’s return leg of 2015 Orange African Nations cup qualifier against Mauritania.

Speaking to the media before his team’s last training session the Serbian said that he is looking forward for an away win.

Micho took over last year from Bobby Williamson added that glorious moments involving Ugandan teams and individuals at international level have inspired the Uganda Cranes players in Mauritania.

‘Uganda Cubs and Moses Kipsiro will motivate the players in the game against Mauritania’ said Sredojevic. The Uganda U17 team beat Rwanda 3-2 on home soil to register a 7-2 aggregate score while Kipsiro managed to successfully defend his 10,000M title at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

‘Their victories will inspire the Cranes players to work hard and be part of the weekend national achievements’ said Andy Mwesigwa.

‘We have a national duty to perform and must be accomplished like Kipsiro and Uganda Cubs did’ added the team skipper Mwesigwa.

Leader of delegation,   FUFA President’s message

The federation never took the trip for granted and decided to name the FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo as Leader of Delegation. Since the team left Kampala three days ago, Magogo has been close to his boys and sharing some light moments with them including a prayer session on the pitch after training yesterday.

 ‘We are motivated by the fact that we have prepared well, we have the privilege to represent our country, we have the desire to win and now we believe the Almighty is with us’ said Magogo in a simple message to the players.

The Uganda Cranes are accommodated at Wissal hotel, located 5 km from the airport and the stadium.

Micho has still kept the starting line up close to his chest until 2pm.  All the 18 players he named for the trip are with him in Mauritania including Tony Mawejje and Kizito Luwagga.

Lighter moments in camp  

The Media officer Fred Katende Malibu had 5 sweets for the team but had no means to share them equally. Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito came up with a solution-that the five dreadlocked players in camp should enjoy the sweets and those are Robert Ssentongo, Denis Iguma, Dan Serunkuma, Brian Umony and himself.

 

Translator is Isinde’s long-time friend

Defender Isaac Isinde claimed that the team’s translator while still in Mali was his long-time friend. One wonders where the two had met from before that trip.

Security was tight as 7 Presidents landed in their various presidential jets with Uganda Cranes at the same airport in Mauritania.

The Uganda National senior football team-Cranes arrived safely in Mauritania after  a stop over yesterday in Bamako Mali. The 16 players who traveled from Kampala have been joined by the other two foreign based Tony Mawejje and Kizito Luwagga.

The Cranes had a training session  at Olympic Stadium Conforment Nouakchott which concluded with a prayer that also had the FUFA President observe it as as the team’s norm.

URA 0-2 KCC FC 

Masiko nets a double to bring down Isabiye’s URA FC

KCC FC now planning for bigger things in CECAFA club championship. 

KCC FC drew first blood in their preparation for the new season as they defeated URA FC 2-0 in the FUFA Super Cup at Mutessa II stadium in Wankulukuku. Midfielder Tom Masiko -son of KCC FC left fullback legend Charles Masiko netted both goals on 12 and 36 minutes to hand URA’s new coach Alex Isabirye a tough start to his return to the club.

KCC FC will welcome the win with open hands as it will continue to raise their confidence and moral in camp ahead of the CECAFA Club championship that kicks off next week in Rwanda. The Lugogo based side will represent Uganda in the regional club championship following their league triumph during the 2013/2014 season.

The trophy was presented to the winners by chief guest FUFA Vice President Darius Mugoye.

Uganda Under 17 head coach, Matia Lule is optimistic his charges will advance to the finals of CAF 2015 U-17 Championships in Niger.

“We have a great crop of players with different scouts across the country”, Lule told the media at Umuganda Stadium, shortly after Uganda 2 – 3 away victory over Rwanda (7 – 2 on aggregate).

Lule and the rest of the technical team will now switch focus to the next two games against Zambia.

Zambia eliminated Botswana 5 – 0 (6 – 0 on aggregate) in Gaborone.

Uganda travels to Zambia for the first leg on 13th September 2014 before the return leg on 27th September 2014 in Kampala.

The winner over the two legs will qualify to next year’s championships in Niger.

Zambia Vs Uganda

First leg: 13th September 2014 in Zambia.

Return leg : 27th September 2014 (In Kampala)

After eliminating Rwanda 7 – 2 in Gisenyi at Umuganda Stadium, The Uganda u-17 team, the Cubs will turn their guns to Zambia in the 3rd and final round of qualification for the CAF U-17 championships to be played next year in Niger.

Zambia beat Botswana 5 – 0 to progress 6 – 0 on aggregate.

Zambia host Uganda on September 13 before travelling to Kampala for the final leg on September 27.

Zambia and Uganda both catch their maiden appearence at the CAF Under-17 tournament.

The Uganda Cubs technical bench has to sit and draw plans of seeking qualification past Zambia.

The Winner over the two legs will qualifier for next years finals in Niger.

The final tournament will be held from February 15 to March 1, 2015, with the semifinalists qualifying to represent the continent at the 2015 Fifa U-17 World Cup scheduled for Chile.

Uganda Cranes arrived safely in Bamako, Mali today afternoon for a stopover before they connect to Nouakchott, Mauritania.

In Bamako, the players enjoyed a training session under the watchful eye of head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. 

Europe based Tony Mawejje and Kizito Luwagga are set to join the team in Nouakchott. 

The Cranes will return on Tuesday 5th August, 2014.

CAF U-17 CHAMPIONSHIPS:

Rwanda 2 – 3 Uganda (Full-Time).

Uganda wins 7 – 2 on aggregate

Uganda has progressed to the next stage of the CAF 2015 Qualifiers after a 2 -3 away victory at the Umuganda Stadium in Gisenyi boarder City today.

After a slow start in the opening half hour, Uganda took a first half lead through striker, Charles Ssebutinde and left winger Julius Poloto’s strikes in the 31st and 44th minutes respectively.

Rwanda capitalized on Uganda’s reluctance to sit back and defend as lead forward, Rachid Biriganeza notched a brace in a space of 10 minutes.

Goal machine, Muhammed ‘Jaggason’ Shaban put the game beyond Rwandese reach with an icing on the cake strike, a few minutes to the full time whistle of Burundian referee, Pacifique Ndabihawenimana.

Hosts however finished with 10 men as team skipper, Manishimwe Djabel was red carded for a two legged challenge on Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye.

The victory means Uganda progress with a 7 -2 aggregate win and will await the successful team from either Zambia or Botswana.

Zambia leads 1 – 0 from the home victory. The return leg will be played on Saturday, 2nd August 2014.

Several Ugandan fans within Rwanda and those who travelled from Kampala cheered the fans passionately from start to finish.

It’s the fundamental execution of ideas to see that the game of football can realize the desired mileage. We as football diehards have persistently talked about several aspects through which the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) can employ to realize the best of its strategies nonetheless through seniority, experience, technical knowledge, and political free leadership of its member associations however though others paid off yet others have not.

Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) is one of the eight FUFA regions that has seemed to be one of the feeders when it comes to football deliverance and even before this current football constitution was amended, the federation had its biggest number of the executive members coming from Eastern region.

The AGM was held at  Executive Hotel in Bugiri.

ERFA has 15 District Football Associations (DFAs)-Jinja, Kamuli, Iganga, Bugiri, Mbale, Mayuge, Buyende, Namayingo, Namutumba, Busia, Tororo, Butaleja, Sironko, Budaka and Kibuku.
However at the end of the assembly four new districts Kaliro, Palisa, Kapchorwa and Bulambuli were admitted.

Strategy and way forward
On his deliberation to the Assembly, the regional chairman Mr. Isa Musiwa highlighted a number of issues to be tackled during his reign.
‘Teamwork and creativity will see us through our term successfully’ said Musiwa
The chairperson also said he is proud of having completed his first year successfully.

Way forward
The chairperson pledged to put emphasis on the following, a functional regional that was moved from Mbale to Iganga, organizing courses in administration, refereeing and coaching for various groups in the region, taking the game to the grassroots-which involves tapping new talent and improving on youth football. Musiwa also wants an improved communications system for the region.
The chairman also emphasized that the women’s soccer league has already been established with kick off set for September.

Conclusive Remarks
In his conclusive remarks the chairperson commended FUFA for extending its helping hand towards the development of the game in the region. He told delegates that the region will benefit more as they have a representative Sam Lwere on the FUFA Executive when he presents their ideas.

He also thanked Bidco Uganda Uganda Limited (BUL) for sponsoring the Regional competitions and other regional affairs whenever approached for assistance and promised to maintain this relationship.

The FUFA president was represented by Executive Committee member Sam Lwere who acted as the chief guest.

Uganda won the first leg 4-0 at Namboole but Rwanda needs to win  by 5-0 to knock out their neighbors.

An hour’s training session for Uganda U-17 team at the match day venue (Umuganda stadium) in Gisenyi at the Rwanda – Congo border indicated signs of a team at a mission to accomplish.

From the body language to the morale of each member of the team and officials inclusive, Uganda is more than ready for the return leg, having won 4 – 0 in Kampala,10 days ago.

It has been a rosy period of preparation for the team that has been camping at Njeru Technical center.

They played one friendly game last Sunday, winning 8 – 0 against a Kawempe select side.

The team travelled safely from Kampala via Kabale and Kigali and finally at Gisenyi where they are accomodated at Peace land hotel, overlooking the beautiful Lake Kivu.

There are no injuries in the team and every member of the squad looks set to play the game.

Head coach, Matia Lule will announce the final starting team just hours to the kick off.

Matia is expected to name virtually an unchanged side that started the game in Kampala with one or two changes if any.

Rwanda:

The Junior Wasps named Lee Johnson, succeeding Aloys Kanamugire, who handled the first game in Kampala. 

Kanamugire is now assistant coach. They have added 4 players to the team including a Ugandan born midfielder, Gerald Tumwesigye, now at Qatar based soccer academy.

Tumwesigye previously featured at Proline Soccer Academy. Their Belgian based players (Patrick Honore and Kevin Muhire are also still with the team).

The match will be free for all.

The travel arrangements for the Uganda Cranes have been finalized. The team Coordinator Crispus Muyinda traveled ahead of the contingent to organize for the team’s logistics in Bamako, Mali.
The contingent to be led by the FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo will fly out tonight to Bamako where they will have one training session before proceeding to Nouakchott, Mauritania.
However Geoffrey Massa, Moses oloya and Denis Onyango have been ruled out of the trip as their clubs are not willing to release them.
The Cranes will return on Tuesday 5th August, 2014.

The FUFA Competitions committee has fixed the new date for the Super Cup. The one legged match between FUFA Super League champions KCC FC and Uganda Cup winners URA FC will be played on Saturday 2nd August 2014 at Wankulukuku stadium with kickoff set for 4pm. The change in schedule comes after CECAFA brought forward the kickoff date of the Kagame Cup due in Kigali in which KCC FC will be representing Uganda.
The Super cup is played as an opener for the new season and between the champions of the FUFA Super League and champions of the Uganda cup of the previous season.

According to the FCC Manager Ali Mwebe, each team will be allowed to use up to seven substitutes. The game will head into penalties in case a winner isn’t decided at the end of the normal 90 minutes.

Rwanda Wasps Vs Uganda Cubs

After a 3 hour journey , the Uganda National U-17 team has arrived safely in Gisenyi City, the host for the Friday’s CAF Youth championship qualifier against Rwanda.

The Ugandan delegation left Kigali in the morning at 9 O’clock and reached Gisenyi City by 1:10 pm (Kigali local time, Ugandan time 2:10 pm).

Part of the U-17 contingent at the arrival lounge of the Peace land Hotel in Gisenyi City.

The team will be accommodated at Peace land hotel, overlooking the beautiful Lake Kivu water body.

The 4 star Peace Land Hotel where the U-17 team will camp prior the match day. The Hotel is overlooking Lake Kivu.

They are set to train later in the evening at the Umuganda Stadium (artificial turf).

Uganda’s delegation is led by FUFA Executive member, Richard Ochom (FUFA delegate, North Eastern region). Other FUFA others accompanying the team are Technical Director, Asuman Lubowa and Rasoul Aliga.

With negotiations in progress to bring back Supersport to broadcast the top flight league, FUFA is confident that the project is on a right path.
While addressing the media on developments from the meetings that have been held between FUFA and the top flight sides, the federation’s President Eng Moses Magogo says there is positive progress.

Involvement of key players
FUFA has met the 16 FUFAS Super League (FSL) clubs under their , government, USLL (Uganda Super League) and Supersport over the issue of injecting money into the top flight league. FUFA has also consulted FIFA on this matter.
‘The discussions are about tapping into resources for the league. The decisions taken by Fufa are in the interest of development of football’ said Magogo.

The leader of Ugandan football stressed that FUFA and clubs have the football while USSL has a contract with Supersport.

Magogo appreciates clubs’ efforts to find a sponsor
‘I must commend the clubs for their attempts to get another sponsor. FUFA applauds the clubs’ efforts in a bid to get funds’ added Magogo.
Upon the consent and consultation with clubs, FUFA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with USSL.
Magogo advised the clubs that they can continue to engage potential sponsors in the next two years.
‘We want to honor an agreement that FUFA has signed until a time when there is a reason for not abiding by it’ stressed Magogo who was flanked by FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein, Finance Director Decolas Kiiza, FUFA referees standing Committee (FRSC) Vice Chairman Yusuf Kamulegeya and Competitions Director Mwebe Ali.
The FSL has given out the TV rights only and other sponsors are welcome on board for various properties.
FSL still has the mandate to run the top flight
The federation has communicated to the 16 clubs about issues regarding the governance of their entity.
‘FUFA has not taken away the mandate from the FSL to run the top league. We want to have all the FSL shareholders as legal entities. FSL must issue shares to shareholders so that they have the mandate to decide on legal matters of their clubs’ said Magogo.

Clubs signing deed of Adherence
This is not a contract. The Deed of Adherence is about compliance to standards of TV production and clubs that will appear on TV will have signed it. It is not mandatory for clubs to sign but it comes with benefits for teams appearing ion’ added the FA boss Magogo. Clubs are expected to submit the deeds of adherence in the nearest possible to beat the deadline of coming up with teams interested in having their matches broadcast.

Name of the league remains FSL, Fixtures out
The name of the league is FSL as per the FUFA statutes. The party running the league is may be different and the name will be Uganda Premier League (UPL). The league will be run by a special purpose vehicle with a committee of five at a Secretariat whose location will be named soon.
‘FUFA has communicated its well thought out position on the matter. A long meeting was held with the clubs and positions have since changed’ said Magogo as he stressed on a point about the progress of the 2014/2015 FUFA Super League season.
The fixtures of next season have also been released.

Football is about ambitions, National U-17 league in the offing
‘Football is about ambitions as the U17 National league is a well thought out project’ added Magogo.
The FUFA marketing team has been beefed up and all is being done to have as many sponsors as possible.
FUFA has set the pilot project to kick off in Kampala before it spreads to other parts of the Country.

The Uganda U-17 travelling contingent that includes a 14 year old player Ezra Bida arrived safely in the Rwandan capital of Kigali on Wednesday evening.

 

Team arrival at Impala Hotel, Kigali. Experienced team doctor Jack Walugembe carrying his luggage as he is followed by one of the Cubs players. 
The contingent left Kampala on Tuesday at 9:30 pm and reached Kabale district by 6 O’clock in the morning where they had a stopover of about 6 hours at the beautiful Kirigime guest house.

Some of the Cubs players in Kabale at the Kirigime Guest House where they had a six hour rest before heading to Kigali. 
Led by FUFA Executive member Richard Ochom (delegate from North East region), the contingent , that also includes FUFA Technical Director Asuman Lubowa then left Kabale afew minutes into afternoon for clearance at the Gatuna border post.

The team left Gatuna at around 2 pm for a two and half hour journey to the capital, Kigali.

The players had a light training session at the Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) offices and will depart for the match venue (Umuganda Stadium in Gishenyi).

They are accommodated at Impala Hotel In Kigali, Nyabugogo and will depart for Gishenyi on Thursday morning before having a practice round at the match day turf later in the evening.

Team skipper Andrew Okiring Isiagi serves himself dinner at Impala Hotel in Kigali on Wednesday. The team travels to Gishenyi Thursday morning.

In Gishenyi, they will sleep at Peace land Hotel.

Rwanda Wasps host Uganda Cubs in the return leg of the 2015 CAF U-17 Championships qualifiers.

Uganda leads with a 4 – 0 goal advantage and the aggregate winner over the two legs will make it to the last stage of qualifiers against either Zambia or Botswana.

Zambia beat Botswana at home with a slim 1 – 0 victory.

Cranes Captain optimistic of positive results in Mauritania
As Uganda Canes prepare for their 2015 Nations cup qualification match for the group stages away match against Mauritania, team captain Andy Mwesigwa is confident of positive results.
‘History is against us when it comes to winning away matches but we promise to write this off’ noted Andy Mwesigwa
‘We have done enough preparations and ready to play our hearts out to complete the unfinished business’ added Mwesigwa.

URA striker Sentongo speaks out on his recall
Robert Sentongo last featured for Uganda Cranes in the 2014 FIFA World cup qualifier match against Senegal in Stade de Marrakech, Morocco. He says that he is excited about the opportunity given to him by the national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.
‘I am thrilled by this chance given to me and I vow not to blow it away by working hard to satisfy the coach’said Sentongo.

 

Goals needed-Micho
The Cranes struggled on several attempts to win away from home however Micho has promised to go on offensive to earn good results in Mauritania.
‘Mauritania is a good side. You cannot defend for 90 minutes if you want positive results. We shall play to score more goals not to defend our two goals. But the key aspect is to prepare my players mentally and physically fit, and then we shall get the job done’ remarked the Serbian.

Government has given UGX 360M to support the two National sides-Cranes and Cubs

FUFA boss Eng Moses Magogo has heaped praise on President of the Republic of Uganda General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the government for their timely support towards the two National teams-Cranes and Cubs.
Magogo’s statement was made during the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo.
‘I thank His Excellence President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his government for the financial support of 360 million shillings given towards FUFA to support the two national teams’ said a jovial Magogo.
‘We had a big budget but we are happy with the support from government. Since taking over as FUFA President, we have managed to get 740 million shillings from government’ added the FUFA President.

He also thanked the various government officials including the Rt Hon Prime Minister of Uganda Amama Mbabazi and Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura for the support they have continuously received from the Uganda Police Force.

Ways how FUFA generates revenue

The President also took time to outline the five ways that help to improve the federation’s revenues. He mentioned the government, sponsorships with the corporate world, FIFA resources for development, gate collections where a lot of work is needed to improve on this area, merchandising of the replica jerseys which has already raked in UGX 10M from zero shillings.

On National teams-Cranes and Cubs
Magogo said the Federation has done what is needed to prepare the two national teams.
‘Football can be a cruel sport. No result can’t be overturned. We call upon all football lovers to support the two teams’ said Magogo
He added that ‘The project of Under 17 is much bigger than the qualification past Rwanda. The FUFA Competitions committee has been instructed to come up with a schedule for the U- 17 league. Continuous development is key for these youngsters. We encourage our fans to come and watch the young players who play great football’.
Magogo emphasized that the Under 17 is a team to watch as they proved to the doubters when they hammered Rwanda 4-0 at Namboole stadium.
He also revealed that there are standardized rates for the players’ allowances but there is room for revision. The President also thanked the federation’s official travel agency Satguru who have been able to take Uganda Cranes players to their final destinations when summoned for national team duty even at short notice.
