  • FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Top of the table Clash in Rwenzori group

FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Baza Holdings host leaders, Lweza

    Wed, 30th April 2014:

Baza Holdings VS Lweza  – Villa Park
Wandegeya The Saints – Kiteezi P/School
Mutundwe Lions  Vs Ndejje University-  KCC  Stadium/Lugogo
The FUFA Big league resumes on Wednesday with 3 Rwenzori group games at different sports grounds.

Table leaders, Lweza football club (on 37 points) shall be taking on second placed Baza Holdings football club at the Nsambya based Villa Park ground in Kampala.

About 3 weeks ago, the two sides faced off in the Uganda Cup and Lweza won 1 – 0 courtesy of Mahad Kakooza, who will be missing the game after suffering a fractured arm.

Baza Holdings will also miss the services of their new recruit, Alosious Lubega, who has seen left for greener pastures in the mid east.

With 3 games for either sides to the end of the league, the winner of this fixture will most certainly be in the spotlight for that automatic slot for the group winner to the FUFA Super league.

In the other game to be played, 3rd placed Mutundwe Lions (on 30 points) hosts Ndejje University at the KCCA Stadium group while 4th placed The Saints travels to Kiteezi to face relegation threatened Wandegeya.

Elsewhere, Sadolin Paints from Bugembe became the first side to qualify for the FUFA Super league from the Elgon group.

Rwenshama/KJT (32 points),  Jinja s.s (29 points) and Jinja Municipal (28 points) are the 3 teams vying for the available two play off slots coming into the last round of games.

  • FUFA SUPER LEAGUE: KCC held, SCVU catches up at the top as CRO is relegated

FSL: Mixed fortunes for teams during week 28 fixtures:

    Tues, 29th April 2014 Results

    Express  1 – 0 Masaka

    Bright Stars 1 – 1 Entebbe

    KCC 1 – 1 URA

    Kira Young  0 – 1Simba

    Police 2 – 3 SCVU

    CRO 0 – 2 S.C Villa

The 6 FUFA super fixtures played during the week 28 games produced contrasting results for the different teams in action.

Mbale based side, Child’s Restoration Organziation becomes the first  side in the league to virtually get relegated to FUFA’s second highest tier league, FUFA big league.

CRO, 0 -1 winners in the first round fixture in Kampala lost 0 – 2 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium. Titus Lubega and Victor Emenayo’s goals condemned CRO to the big league and help the 16 time Ugandan Champions rise to 5th on 44 points, above Soana, Bul and Kira Young.

At the KCCA stadium in Lugogo, home team, Kampala City Council Authority football club played to a 1 all draw with Uganda Revenue Authority f.c to accumulate 52 points.

On form Herman Wasswa, getting on to the score sheet for the 6th time in 9 matches opened the day’s scoring record before, URA’s Nigerian import, Emmanuel Engama made sure URA picks atleast a point from the fixture to keep their title hopes alive.

URA has now played 28 games rising 50 points, 3 below joint leaders, KCCA and Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU).

At Kavumba Recreational Stadium, Police football club looked destined to bag the three points but only to be denied by a late surge by visitors, Sports Club Victoria University.

Police led 2 – 0 courtesy of a half time Osman Mutumba brace. Victoria University rallied back to make amends thanks to strikes from second half substitute, Cesaer Sapeo, an 83th penalty by Denis Iguma and a late winner from Isaac Muleme.

SCVU is now joint second with KCCA  on 52 points though the latter have played a game less.

At Nakivubo Stadium, Bright Stars and Entebbe played a 1 all draw. Ismail Kigozi got the Kawempe based side’s goal while U-20 Uganda Hippos’ striker, Abraham Ndugwa replied for Entebbe.

Fred Kajoba’s Simba football club returned to Namboole Stadium in a space of 3 days after their goal-less draw with SCVU last Friday, this time with a 1 – 0 win over home side, Kira Young.

Enterprising winger, Alex Waitaba notched the lone strike for Simba football club over a Kira Young side that rested 5 starting players.

At the Mutesa II stadium in Wankulukuku, Express continued with their great run, bagging all the three points after a hard fought 1 – 0 victory over Masaka Local Council.

Team skipper, Willy Kavuma scored the all important goal for the Red Eagles which drives them completely out of the relegation mathematics as they now boast of 35 points, same as Police though the Cops have a better goal difference.

The league resumes this Friday with several games as the final bend to the climax takes a new twist.

  • FUFA SUPER LEAGUE: Relegation battle intensifies

FUFA SUPER LEAGUE: Relegation battle intensifies

FSL: Who will be relegated? Is it Simba, Bright Stars, Entebbe, Proline, Masaka L.C or CRO?

The FUFA Super league returns on Tuesday, 29th April 2014 with a series of match day 28 fixtures.

6 matches will be played across the various stadia. The title race has inevitably gone to the wire with less than 4 fixtures to be played.

Defending champions and current table leaders, KCCA football club (on 52 points) from 26 games entertains 3rd placed Uganda Revenue Authority (on 47 points) in a top of the table clash.

Second placed Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU), held goal-less last week by army side, Simba football club travels to Kavumba recreational stadium to play Police football club, currently lying 9th on the log (with 35 points).

SCVU is likely to name a strong team with defender Savio Kabugo, Dennis Iguma and Mathew Odong returning from injury.

Perennial mid-table team Police f.c coached by Angelo Lonyesi is confident of another home victory following that 3- 2 result against Entebbe in the last game.

Equally so, the relegation race gets stiffer each passing day as the season comes to a close.

With bottom placed CRO virtually having sealed a berth in next season’s FUFA Big league, two more teams are severely fighting to keep in the top flight league.

Masaka L.C (20), Proline (21), Entebbe f.c (23), Bright Stars f.c (27) and Simba f.c (27) are the teams still engaged in the mathematics against relegation with 3 games to play.

Masaka Local Council welcoming back team skipper, Ronald Lukungu faces an acid test with a date against an on form Express football club at Wankulukuku stadium,  that has won 5 successive games.

Livingstone Mbabazi coached Bright Stars, 0 – 1 losers to Express in the last game hosts Entebbe f.c, another side that lost their last game – 2 – 3 against Police at Kavumba last Friday.

16 time record league record champions, SC Villa coached by Steven Bogere travels to the Mbale Municipal stadium to face a dejected CRO, who lost 0 – 4 to URA last Friday on the same venue.

SC Villa will bank on the form of striker Victor Emanayo, Karim Ndugwa and team skipper Ronald Muganga.

With the going getting tough both at the top and at the opposite end of the table, expect drama, tears and smiles.

    Enjoy the games.
