The aforementioned teams won their respective fixtures over the weekend on the road to keep their ambitions afloat.
She Corporate FC who occupy pole position because of a superior goal difference grinded past neighbours She Maroons FC in the Nakawa derby.
In a closely contested encounter played at Prisons Ground, Luzira, Favour Nambatya’s goal at the stroke of halftime eventually turned out to be decisive moment of the game.
Kampala Queens on the other hand were 2-1 winners over Lady Doves FC at Katusabe Stadium in Masindi thanks to goals from Resty Nanziri and Zaina Nandede.
Fazila Ikwaput got the consolation for Lady Doves to take her tally to 14 this season and currently leads the scoring chart.

Social Media platforms continue to be awash with praise towards Hasifa Nassuna for having reached a century of League goals.
Nassuna got the 100th goal as her side UCU Lady Cardinals FC lost 2-1 to Kampala Queens on Wednesday, 11th May 2022 at IUIU Ground, Kabojja.
Several dignitaries, sports administrators, journalists and fans have come out to congratulate the forward upon attaining the unprecedented feat.
These range from FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, Uganda Olympic Committee Chairman, Dr. Donald Rukare to celebrated journalist Usher Komugisha.
Special things happen to special people. For Hasifah Nassuna, everything she touches turns gold and the country continues to enjoy from her craft that never stops giving. It is one one thing to score a goal but another to do so game in game out and year in year out.
Such special players come in handy and Hasifa Nassuna is one of the few that Women’s football in Uganda is lucky to have.
The forward, currently featuring for Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals will have Wednesday, 11th May 2022 as a special day in her football career.
UCU Lady Cardinals FC skipper Hasifah Nassuna.
In the game against Kampala Queens played at the IUIU Ground, Kabojja, Nassuna registered her 100th League goal in a space of seven years.
It was a record worth celebrating, no wonder both set of players from UCU Lady Cardinals and Kampala Queens clapped for a minute immediately after she scored. FUFA had already issued a circular to this effect last week indicating such would be accorded whenever the 100th goal comes.
Both set of players from Kampala Queens and UCU Lady Cardinals clapping to honor Nassuna’s record.
Despite her team losing on the day, Nassuna was happy that the milestone was reached and hopes this can be a stepping stone for more success.
“I’m the happiest person today that finally this record is achieved and i think everyone has been waiting for this. Well, it came with a bit of pressure but I am delighted that it is out of the way now and hoping to even achieve more in future.” She said after the game.
Hasifah Nassuna celebrates the landmark goal
The journey that started on 15th February 2015 at Nabweru Playground as the FUFA Women Elite League was introduced, was worth celebrating and Nassuna indicates it has come with hardships.
“I want to thank Allah for the gift of life and also the talent she gave me. When I look back to the time when the League started, definitely it is a long journey that has come with challenges but I’m glad to be the first person to reach such a milestone.”
Her first goal came against Kakira Women Football Club, then playing at Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, winning that game 7-0.
She would go on to score 14 in the first season where Kawempe Muslim encrypted their name in history books as the first team to win the FUFA Women Elite. They went ahead to win the next three with Nassuna playing a key role before she left for UCU Lady Cardinals in 2017.

In her final season at Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Nassuna set a record for most goals scored in a single season (26) and this stands to-date.
She was able to help UCU Lady Cardinals lift their first silverware in her first season, when they won the FUFA Women’s Cup, defeating She Corporate FC in Kabwohe, Sheema District.

Nassuna went ahead to guide the Mukono based side to success in the League, winning the 2018/19 FUFA Women Elite League title. She ended as both the MVP and top scorer with 18 goals.

Perhaps the milestone could have been achieved earlier but with the outbreak of COVID-19, the 2019/20 season was cancelled when she had only two goals while last season, the League was played in a tournament format.
Even with limited games played because of the shorter format, Nassuna scored three goals in five games as UCU Lady Cardinals FC reached the final but lost to Lady Doves FC.
The current campaign has seen the lethal forward score nine goals, four behind leading top scorer Fazila Ikwaput.

The result means Kampala Queens move to 32 points, same as leaders She Corporate who registered their biggest win this season by outwitting Olila High School WFC.
In the game played at MUBS Arena, Nakawa, the Sharks put up a brilliant display to secure a 5-0 win thanks to goals from Favour Nambatya (hat trick), Grace Nassongo and Noeline Namiiro.

She Corporate returned to the top of the table with a superior goal ahead of Kampala Queens.
Elsewhere, Fazila Ikwaput was on fire as Lady Doves FC eased past FC Tooro Queens in the Kitara derby played at Katusabe Stadium.
The lethal forward netted a haul (four goals) to take her tally to 13 and thus move top in the scoring chart.
Lady Doves FC Forward Fazila Ikwaput put four past Lady Doves FC.
The result means FC Tooro Queens now drop to the relegation with 12 points because Rines SS WFC won the relegation battle against She Maroons thanks to Joan Ainembabazi’s solitary strike.
Rines SS WFC moved out of the drop zone for the first time and now have 13 points from 15 games.

Lady Doves vs FC Tooro Queens – Katusabe Stadium, Masindi
Kampala Queens vs UCU Lady Cardinals FC – IUIU Ground, Kabojja
All games kickoff at 4PM
Matchday 15 of the FUFA Women Super League comes with different ambitions for all the ten teams. Whereas a few are contending for the title, more than half are engulfed in the battle to fend off relegation.
As action continues on Wednesday with five games spread across the country, the outcome from each of the game could have far reaching implications on either side of the table.
Current table standings
Table leaders Kampala Queens will seek to extend their brilliant run and maintain grip on pole position with victory over visiting UCU Lady Cardinals.
With four games to the climax of the season, any blip for Kampala Queens could dent their title hopes and therefore have to treat Wednesday’s clash with utmost importance.
They face a UCU Lady Cardinals outfit that has blown hot and cold the entire season and sit fourth on the table, eight points behind the leaders.
Zaina Nandede scored the winning goal in the reverse fixture.
A loss against Kampala Queens will all but erase their hopes of clinching this season’s title if any.
However, their captain Hasifah Nassuna has more to fight for given that she is one goal shy of a century in the domestic League.
UCU Lady Cardinals captain Hasifah Nassuna.
Kampala Queens won the reverse fixture 2-1 in Mukono.
She Corporate who are also on 29 points returned to winning ways over the weekend, defeating UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 in Nakawa.
The result not only helped them to remain in the title race but also brought back the confidence of the players after a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Lady Doves a week ago.
Olila High School and She Corporate captains pose for a Photo with match officials before kickoff.
The Sharks will definitely be aiming to garner maximum points off Olila High School on Wednesday to keep their title charge alive.
Uganda Martyrs WFC who are third on 27 points make a trip across the city to Kawempe and hoping that maximum points off their nemesis will keep them within breathing space of the leading pack.
A 2-1 win away to FC Tooro Queens over the weekend helped Uganda Martyrs WFC to bounce back from two successive draws.
Uganda Martyrs midfielder Kevin Nakacwa (in blue) contends for the ball with Kawempe’s Phiona Nabulime.
It should be noted that the Lubaga based school won the reverse fixture 3-1 and will be aiming for a first double over Kawempe.
Elsewhere, bottom placed Rines SS face She Maroons who are second from bottom. The two have the same number of points (10) and victory for either could be a big boost in fending off the relegation monster.
Rines SS Women Football Club.
Another relegation contest will be the Kitara region derby between Lady Doves and FC Tooro Queens at Katusabe Stadium in Masindi.
Tooro Queens are only two points above the drop zone and meet a rejuvenated Lady Doves side that routed She Corporate 5-0 in their last home game.
Lady Doves Football Club.
Lady Doves are equally not safe with 14 points in as many games and they will need maximum points off visiting Tooro Queens to move far from the red zone.
BUL Football Club earned a big advantage from the first leg of the semifinals in the Stanbic Uganda Cup after obliterating Booma FC on Tuesday.
In the game played at Masindi Municipal Stadium, BUL FC put up a brilliant display to dispatch Booma FC with a 5-1 win.

By the end of the opening stanza, BUL FC led 4-1 with Ibrahim Kazindula getting the fourth goal before Ndugwa put the icing on the cake in the second half, converting from the spot.

Current holders Vipers SC will face Mbarara City FC in the other semifinal with the first leg coming on Wednesday, 11th May at Kakyeka Stadium.

Booma Football Club story is a true testament to the common adage, ‘Never Give up on your dreams,’ and the fairytale journey they have had this season has risen many eyebrows.
Not even their failed attempts at earning promotion to the StarTimes FUFA Big League in the previous seasons has broken their resolve and the dream to ascend to greater heights still lives on.
One of the games Booma FC played at Masindi Municipal Stadium.
The Masindi based outfit featured in the playoffs for 2020/21 season only to lose to Terrazzo and Tiles FC.
However, their Cinderella story in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup has drawn everyone’s attention, the only team from the regional league to reach the semifinals, joining holders Vipers SC, BUL FC and Mbarara City FC.
Not even in their wildest dreams did the club and its officials envisage such a run but they have punched above weight and one hurlde away from reaching the final.
Daniel Bagambe, one of the club Directors and brain behind the team, rightly says that their quarterfinal win over Maroons ranks highest in the club’s history.
Born and raised in Masindi, Bagambe, known by many as Doctor, is a medical Laboratory Scientist and Public Health expert who works with Baylor Uganda.
Daniel Bagambe one of the club founders.
He is one of the founders of the club in 2012, starting as a group of Ex-players and young stars who used to train at Booma ground in Masindi town.
“We had passion for the game and even when many of us became occupied with work, we still looked at avenues of serving the community through football. That is how we came up with the idea of starting a team,” he recalls.
“We began with local tournaments around Masindi like Christmas cup, Independence cup etc but in 2012, the club registered with FUFA and started in 5th Division.”
The following season, Booma FC earned promotion to 4th Division where they played for three years before eventually advancing to Kitara Regional League in 2016.
Booma Football Club.
“After several attempts to qualify from 4th division we eventually got successfully in 2016,” Bagambe reminisces.
In their first Regional League season, Booma FC finished third. They even came a place better the next campaign (2018/19).
2019/20 season saw Booma FC top Albertine Group but unfortunately lost to Kasese New Villa thus missing out on qualifying to StarTimes FUFA Big League.
The following season, (2020/21), Booma finished top in Albertine Group again and defeated Asingya FC from Edward Group to qualify for the final playoffs at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
Booma XI Vs Terrazo and Tiles
Their quest to get promoted to StarTimes FUFA Big once again hit a dead end, losing to Terrazzo and Tiles on penalties.
Currently, Booma FC are top of Albert group, Kitara Region, on 28 points with 9 games to go, and their is a lot of hope that they will this time be third time lucky.
Booma FC fans enjoying a light moment.
The club collects its funding from a team of around 35 managers who constitute a Management group.
“This keeps growing because we identify people in community who love football, follow the team and we bring them on board,” Bagambe explains.
“We also have two partners who support us with possibility of becoming sponsors in the future – Kidawalime Bakery and TUVI establishment dealing in construction and road clearing.”
Bagambe says that they face operational challenges working with limited funding and also managing players under amateur setup and keep them focussed on their dream.
The Stanbic Uganda Cup success has made the bosses buoyant and feel that their dreams are now within reach.
Booma FC has defied odds in the Stanbic Uganda Cup this season.
“Reaching Stanbic Uganda Cup Semifinals is our highest achievement in the club’s history. Last season, we were knocked out by Police FC at round of 64, and we want to continue to challenge for more. We are looking forward to challenging even bigger teams remaining in the competition.”
Booma started their Uganda Cup journey in the preliminaries where they beat Kigorobya County FC 2-0. They qualified to the semifinals as best losers after falling to Kagadi United in shootout.
A Booma FC fan carrying a drum.
They faced Kagadi United again in the semifinals and won 3-0 to storm the finals. They were beaten by Bujumbura FC 4-2 in the penalty shootout but had already done enough to qualify for the tournament proper.
In the round of 64, Booma was rewarded with a home tie against Nyamityobora, a side they went on to demolish with a 4-1 win.
At the Round of 32, Booma beat Kajjansi United 1-0 in Masindi to qualify for the round of 16.
They then knocked out TIPSA FC, a side that had earlier knocked out Arua Hill SC, with Clinton Asiimwe and Ashraf Ali scoring a goal each in the 2-0 win.
In the quarterfinals, they were pitted against Maroons FC but the Kitara Regional League side continued to defy odds, recording a 2-1 win to oust the Prison Warders and storm the semifinals.
Ali Ashraf opened the scores just before halftime, Fred Amaku levelled for the visitors but Denis Omendi scored a late winner to send the home fans into wild celebrations.
“The club is now visible and known across the country, our players, fans and management are so excited, we have expanded on our fan base, several fans are registering every other day, the management feel motivated,” Bagambe commends in the wake of a strong Cup run.
“It’s also an opportunity for other teams at lower level to believe that it is possible.”

As the industrial revolution turned around Europe, it is the sports revolution that will turn around the destiny of the youths in Uganda.
Indeed, the Uganda sports revolution is taking shape. The times are calling for the attention to youths. There is no way you are going to gain the attention of the millions of youths who are the majority of the population without giving attention to Sports, Art and Entertainment.
The Ugandan fans at Lugogo. The youths need to be considered.
Whereas it remains the role of Government to provide sporting infrastructure, finance the National teams and athletes representing Uganda and also to provide the necessary laws and policies for the private sector to invest into sport, I believe that the birth of FUFA Media Services (FMS) Ltd to manage both the radio and television channel is not only timely but one of the four buttons to be pressed in order to turn around Ugandan Sports.
The birth of FUFA Tv will turn around the value of Ugandan sports
My Justification Sports Federations and their members own the rights emanating from the activities (aka Sports Rights) they organise. The owning of such rights may not necessarily translate into the required resources to manage sports.
Uganda Rugby Union manages many National Teams. The 7s teams is the African Champion 2022.
In order to achieve sporting results, the various sporting entities must acquire the necessary resources of; human, time and financial. This can only be acquired from commercialisation of the sports rights.
It is not justification of the expenditure but the strong brands created out of the sporting persons, competitions and events that set the pricing of the emanating rights.
Strong Brands are determined by the massive awareness and desire of the masses to associate, identify with, attend and consume such brands.
Uganda Cranes XI Vs Kenya. Such sports brands drive masses to follow them hence possible attraction by potential sponsors.
In order to promote and cause massive awareness and consequently be followed by numbers, it is only paramount to use mass media tools.
Radio, Television and Cyber Media (aka e-Media) are not only interdependent but proven means to reach the masses.
Sporting brands must consequently ride on the advent of e-Media to create strong brands and reach to audiences beyond the venues.
The presence of sports brands on e-Media is a direct translation into acquiring the necessary human, time and financial resources and eventually leads to sporting results.
It is not by accident that federations, clubs and athletes that invest more time and financial resources register impressive results by winning more.
The challenge has been that the e-Media resource in Uganda does not accord Ugandan sporting brands the sufficient and quality presence that can translate into commercial value.
Therefore, FUFA has created FUFA Media Services (FMS) Ltd, to manage and commercialise the radio (102.1 FUFA fm) and television channel (FUFA Tv), with the objective of prioritising and providing sufficient and quality e-Media resource for Ugandan sport.
With such amount on the e-Media presence, the sporting brands (federations, clubs, venues, competitions and persons) in Uganda will become stronger, desirable, followed by numbers and consequently generate more revenues from commercial and broadcast partners. Such revenues will be reinvested into sporting activities that will automatically lead to better sporting results on the pitch.
It is therefore important that we all embrace, promote, support, protect and be proud of the two brands of:
a. 102.1 FUFA fm b. FUFA Tv
It is Our Game, It is Our Country.
