Five games are on card this Sunday at various stadiums across the country and each of them has implication on who gets promoted or relegated.
Proline FC vs Blacks Power FC
Table leaders Blacks Power FC make the trip to MTN Stadium Omondi to face relegation threatened Proline FC in buoyant mood after earning three points for Nyamityobora’s failure to honor a game in Lira last week.
The points took them top and have now garnered 34 , two ahead of Maroons FC and Kataka FC who are second and third respectively but the former have played a game less than the Prison Warders.
Victory at Proline will all but get Blacks Power promoted to StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Proline on the other hand find themselves in a must win situation since they are just above the drop zone because a better difference than Kitara but both have 21 points.
Anything short of victory for Proline would hugely dent their hopes of staying afloat.
Blacks Power Coach Vialli Bainomugisha says they are looking up to is nothing rather than securing maximum points.
‘We are many points ahead of Proline but we can’t sit back to relax. They are a good team with talented players who have the ability to get good results but they are affected by issues off the pitch. We are preparing like we would prepare for any strong team with the only aim of securing maximum points,” he said.

Calvary FC vs Luweero United FC
Luweero United FC on 22 points are just two above the relegation zone and thus need to secure a positive result against Calvary FC who are also not yet safe and are just a point and position above their opponents on Sunday.
MYDA FC vs Kitara FC

Soltilo Bright Stars FC midfielder Marvin Youngman is one of the local-based players that was called up for national team duty as Uganda Cranes kicked off early preparations for the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers.
It is a well-deserved call up and a great reward for the player who has put in a stellar performance in the league despite the relegation monster trying to eat up his club.
Marvin Youngman Joseph
One of his main highlights came on February 25 2022 when he scored the only goal as Soltilo Bright Stars shockingly eliminated KCCA FC out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the round of 32 at Lugogo.
His goal was a beauty; He made a timely run to receive a cut back from Ibrahim Kasinde, hit it first time with his strong right foot to leave KCCA FC experienced custodian Benjamin Ochan stunned.
I can’t hear You: Marvin Youngman Joseph celebrating his goal against KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup
Marvin played like a wounded lion on the day but he always puts up such performances for his club.
He has scored a couple of them but goals do not completely describe his contribution for an industrious player who involves his teammates, blocks plays by opponents and creates chances. He is a gem.
Many who saw him back as a toddler are not surprised by his progress but rather certain that he is yet to hit his ceiling.
The story of Youngman’s meteoric rise can be traced way back to 2015 when he helped Kitara Region crowned champions at the Airtel Rising Stars, a tournament organised for players under the age of 17 competed for by football regions in the country.
Youngman, playing for Friends of Soccer Academy, was taken to play in Hoima and later selected among the best in Kitara to represent the region in National Championship Finals.
He also played for Hima FC right from the District league to the Kitara regional League.

At the Nationals, playing with the likes of John ‘Tooki’ Byamukama (Express FC), helped the side go all the way and beat Kampala Region 4-3 in shootouts final.
It was the same tournament that produced the likes of Bobosi Byaruhanga, Allan Okello, Goffin Oyirwoth among others.
Those who never watched him play at Airtel Rising Stars, got a chance to catch him shine during the popular Airtel Masaza Cup.
He got a bronze medal in 2018 while playing for Busujju after finishing third at Namboole. Busujju beat Buwekula team that had the likes of his current teammate at Bright Stars Jamil Kisitu Nvule.
Marvin Youngman Joseph at Namboole stadium featuring for Bulemeezi Saza team
The following year, in 2019, he was acquired by Bulemeezi and went on to help the side win the Masaza cup.
He played 82 minutes for Bulemeezi and gave Busujju’s team that had the likes of Rogers Adriko, Ivan Sserubiri, Ivan Mayanja, Allan Tebusweke, Mikidad Ssenyonga, Andrew Kigozi among others a torrid time.
His meteoric rise saw him join the paid ranks at Soltilo Bright Stars in October 2020, then signing a two-year contract for what proved to be a big platform for the versatile player.
One and a half seasons down the road, Youngman has already impressed many including the National team head coach Milutin Sredojevic.

The midfielder remembers: ‘When I was summoned to the National team, I wasn’t really aware of the news until when Paul Kiwanuka (Bright Stars Head coach) called me in front of my teammates and broke the good news to me, it was euphoric. I then later found everything on social media’ said Marvin.
Marvin featured for Uganda Cranes in the regional tour match against Buganda Select team at Naama Playground in Mityana.
‘Being part of the national team means a lot to me because it is has been one of my childhood dreams. It is a manifestation that hard work pays. I want to be a main stay and it presents me with an opportunity to showcase what I can do and also get motivated’ added Marvin.

The future is so bright for Youngman, and his new adventure with the Uganda Cranes is a new seed of hope planted in many young players starting out in different regions of the country to work hard and chase their dreams.
Marvin Joseph, sixth born in a family of 15 children, was inspired to play football by his brother Oscar Johnson Youngman.
‘My brother used to play for an Academy called Friends of Soccer, every time he could take me to watch him train, I later picked interest in the game before I joined school; said Marvin
‘I later told my brother that I wanted to start playing football. He then took me to Friends of Soccer Academy under coach Gore Muhammad’
Marvin is fresh from Uzbekistan where Uganda Cranes played two matches in which he featured.
Marvin is fresh from Uzbekistan where he featured in two games with Uganda Cranes an experience that he says will further push him to chase his goals.
‘It was a fantastic experience playing with Uganda Cranes at the Navruz cup in Uzbekistan. The atmosphere was amazing, the teams we played were competitive and gave us a good run for our money. I must say I learnt a lot in the few days from both the tournament and my teammates especially the foreign based players who always gave me advice football wise, financially and professionally.
Marvin Youngman Joseph (4th from Left)
The trip to Uzbekistan was Marvin’s first time and experience to travel by air something he says made him develop goose bumps.
‘It was really a good feeling for me but first I was scared until when I put it in mind that yes it is me on board. My friend Bayo Fahad comforted me a lot and told me it is the first time of the many to come given my ability something that inspired me since then. It was my first time to board a plane. I will always cherish the memories. I thank my club for giving me the opportunity to play for them. These are fruits of hard work but I still have a duty with my teammates to make sure we remain in the top flight. You will see a different Bright Stars for the rest of the season.

Zaina Nandede headed home in the 31st minute as the hosts regained their lead but a spirited display in the second half from She Corporate saw captain Naome Nagadya getting the equalizer.
Swabra Nkomba (left) and Resty Nanziri vie for the ball.
The result means She Corporate remain top on 21 points, five above second placed Kampala Queens.
The chasing pack in UCU Lady Cardinals and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC failed to attain maximum points thus losing ground in the title race.

On 28th March 2022, Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) issued FUFA Media Services (FMS) Ltd with a Hybrid License to operate the FUFA TV. This means that FUFA TV may now be carried on both Pay and Free-to-Air platforms. This is a giant leap towards our dream. Next is On-Air Signal Testing
FMS Ltd is a company owned 100% by FUFA created for purposes of complying with the regulatory requirements of UCC. FMS Ltd shall be tasked to commercially operate the brands of FUFA TV and also the 102.1 FUFA fm. It is going to be run as a separate entity from FUFA (The Uganda Football Association) with its own staff and operations
The biggest revenue drivers of sport include Broadcast Rights, Commercial Rights and Match Day but recent studies have proven that 90% of the money made by selling sports to fans is held by middlemen and only 10% gets to federations, clubs and the athletes.
In the world where sport is professional and commercial, Football with 3.5bn fans around the world earns 33bn USD a year but dwarfed in comparison to Facebook with 2.9Bn followers earning 70bn USD a year. The difference is that Facebook deals with the Fans directly.
It is even worse in Uganda and largely Africa where Sport is still largely amateur and consequently not commercially run. The sporting events are only watched live by those present at the venues or clips and highlights of seconds in news many hours or even days later. There is consequently no Broadcast Rights Revenues, No Commercial Rights Revenues and meagre if any Match Day revenues too
FUFA TV is coming to address this gap. Our focus will be to bring quality live Ugandan sports action to mobile viewers, homes, work places, leisure places, airports, and many public waiting places.
With the support of everyone, we intend to change the narrative

Lady Doves who are the reigning Champions have had an indifferent campaign so far and looked a shadow of themselves given the lacklustre performance.

Uganda Cranes on Tuesday afternoon lost 4-2 against hosts Uzbekistan in the 2022 Navruz cup at the Navbahor Stadium in Namangan.
AS Roma striker Eldor Shomurodov bagged a hat trick that gunned down the Cranes despite a spirited fight.
Jaloliddin Masharipov gave Uzbekistan the lead when he scored in an empty net after Herbert Achai miscommunicated with goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi in the 34th minute to send the passionate crown wild.
Four minutes later, Masharipov turned provider when he exchanged with Shomurodov who brilliantly put the ball far beyond Alionzi’s gloves to make it 2-0.
Farouk Miya had a chance to reduce the deficit with a free kick at the stroke of halftime but his effort was well saved by the keeper.
Moments into the second half, Micho introduced Milton Karisa for Fahad Bayo.
Miya scored Uganda’s first goal from a well delivered cross by Karisa in the 52nd minute.
Three minutes later, Shomurodov restored Uzbekistan’s two goal cushion with an easy finish from a well orchestrated counter attack.
The skipper nearly made it three in the similar fashion but his effort kissed the lower post five minutes later.
Micho brought on Bobosi Byaruhanga for Moses Waiswa, Allan Okello for Steven Sserwadda and Aziz Kayondo for Achai.
Derrick Kakooza was also introduced for Marvin Youngman in the 69th minute.
Uganda kept pressing for another goal but it was Uzbekistan who scored next.
Shomurodov got enough space to fire home his third goal and Uzbekistan’s fourth of the day in the 72nd minute.
Emmanuel Okwi scored Uganda’s second goal with a sweet shot from outside the box in the 78th minute but was not enough for the Cranes to avoid defeat.
Rogers Mato the last Uganda substitute as he came on for Allan Kyambadde in the dieing minutes.
“It is a tournament that has really given us a clear picture ahead of the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers and we now know who is ready to compete and not.”
Micho briefly said in the post match press conference.
Uganda finished second while Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan came third and fourth respectively.

Date: Tuesday 29th March 2022 Uzbekistan vs Uganda Cranes Venue: Navbahor Stadium Time 5pm (EAT) Uganda Cranes will on Tuesday face off with hosts Uzbekistan in the 2022 Navruz cup Final in a highly anticipated battle at the Navbahor Stadium in Namangan, Uzbekistan. The match kickoffs at 5pm (EAT). Uganda edged Tajikistan 5-4 on penalties in the semifinal after a 1-1 draw in normal time. A huge fixture awaits the Uganda Cranes as they will face the home team with the backing of the fans in the stands.
Uganda Cranes players training on Monday evening
The Milutin Sredojevic coached side will also have to negotiate this tie without out injured inspirational midfielder Khalid Aucho who is not in shape (injury) and custodian Charles Lukwago who returned to his Ethiopian based club St. George. Fred Kajoba who handles the goalkeeping department will have to make a choice between Benjamin Ochan and Allionzi Nafian for the starting role between the posts.
The hosts Uzbekistan will put all their hopes in forward skipper Eldor Shomurodov who turns out for Italian giants AS Roma. Shomurodov was inspirational when Uzbekistan came from a goal down to eject Kyrzstan 3-1 in the semifinal scoring one of the goals. There will be competition for positions in the Uganda team especially the left back position between Azizi Kayondo and Herbert Achai, right back position occupied by Allan Kyambadde in the last game but UPDF’s James Begisa also stands a chance. Both sides are using the mini tournament to prepare for the 2023 Asian cup Qualifiers (Uzbekistan) and 2023 Ivory Coast AFCON Qualifiers (Uganda).
The tallest player on the Uganda Cranes team is Bevis Kristofer Kizito Mugabi. He stands at 1.88m and when he lines up in the back line with other players, the chances are, a debate about his height would be ignited. It is the reality with natural stuff more so where the Almighty is the controller.
Mugabi is a Ugandan professional footballer who plies his trade in the Scottish Premier League with Motherwell FC.
Born in Harrow, England, the lanky defender started his football journey at Southampton football academy before joining now fifth division English side Yeovil Town.
After showing interest in representing his mother Country, Uganda, he was summoned for the first time by Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre in 2018 and played in two international friendly games against Malawi and Sao Tome and Principe at Namboole stadium.

In 2019, he made the final Uganda Cranes team for the AFCON tournament in Egypt and put up a decent show at the right back position.

It is such eye catching displays in the famous black yellow and red jersey that landed him a move to Motherwell in 2019 and has since been a main stay in the team with unforgettable shows including breaking a record that had been set by global icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bevis Mugabi (2nd from Right) linining up for Uganda Cranes duty
The Motherwell and Uganda defender hit a height of 262cm, beating Ronaldo’s 256cm, and also leapt 75cm off the ground compared to Ronaldo’s 71cm. In 2021, Mugabi netted for his team with a beauty of a header against Ross County. Motherwell won 1-0.
He also recently renewed his stay at the club for another three years. He is just 26 years old.
FUFA media’s Ronnie Lusulire caught up with the towering and intelligent defender for a question and answer session. He talks about life in Scotland, favorite shirt number, toughest opponent and the kind of music his ears feed on.
Interview time: Bevis Mugabi (L) and Ronnie Lusulire
FUFA media: Why did you decide to renew your contract with Motherwell FC despite offers from other clubs?
Mugabi: I decided to stay with the club because of the loyalty they showed me when I first came to Scotland. First and foremost, they believed in my ability even when I wasn’t playing well and that is the reason why I probably decided to stay and develop further as a player and a person.
But most importantly it was about playing games consistently. I believe I made the right decision to stay at the club.
Training hard has given Bevis Mugabi a chance not to be overlooked by coaches at club and country level.
FUFA media: How did the fans receive you when you joined the Club?
The fans were really welcoming and supported me through alot of things and I am very happy to be staying honestly.
FUFA Media: The switch from Yeovil to Motherwell in 2019, how did it change your life?
Mugabi: It was a big change moving from England to Scotland. I left behind my family but I had to grow as a person, adapt to a different environment, culture, people and style of play. It wasn’t a very easy transition but I am happy I made that step with the aim of trying out something different and I can’t complain.
FUFA media: How did you feel breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous 8ft 5 inch leap record?
Mugabi: I honestly didn’t have an idea that I had done it until after the game when my brother called me and said I had jumped high but at that time I wasn’t really focusing on that as my aim was to get 3 points for the team. I am happy it was the winning goal and got the vital points that we needed at that time.
The thumbs up signal is not for breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record but winning a game in Uzbekistan
FUFA media: What are your targets now at the club going forward?
Mugabi: My main focus is to perform well for the club and play consistently well for my manager, teammates and finish in a better position on the table. All I can do is to thank God for putting me in this position and allowing me to keep on working and progressing as a player. I feel I have done well this season with my performances and I want to keep on learning as it never stops but hopefully keep on playing well and see what the future has in store for me.
This season, Mugabi has made 25 appearances out of 30 for Motherwell in 2223 minutes with two goals to his name.
FUFA Media: Who is the toughest opponent you have ever faced?
Mugabi: Senegal’s Sadio Mane during the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt when we lost 1-0 in the last 16 stage.
FUFA Media: What kind of music do you listen to?
Mugabi: Rap, Hip hop, RnB and Afro beats.
FUFA Media: Who is your roommate in the National team?
Mugabi: Usually it’s Isaac Muleme.
FUFA Media: What’s your favorite shirt number?
Mugabi: It is 5 and I am happy I wear it while on the National team though at club level it is 16.
No.5 is the number for Bevis MugabiUganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic and Bevis Mugabi in Uzbekistan
