    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has released the official programme and the list of match officials prior to the long awaited contest between Buganda region champions Luwero United and Kampala victors CATDA.

    The match shall be held on Saturday, 24th October 2020, kicking off by noon. As like, the other play-off matches, there will be a live stream of the entire game on the official FUFA facebook page.

    The match will also be relied live on the football radio, 102.1 FUFA f.m with exciting and enticing expert commentary courtesy of Shafik Mutebi and Reagan Murekezzi.

    2020 Kampala Regional League Play-off:

    Edgars 0-2 CATDA

    CATDA booked a place in the final against Luwero United after a 2-0 win over Edgars on Thursday.

    Ivan Mayanja scored two second half goals at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru in the 76th and 87th minutes.

    CATDA will now face Buganda region champion Luwero United on Saturday, 24th October 2020 to determine who makes it to the FUFA Big League.

    Luwero had earlier in the day ejected Buwambo United 4-2 in post match penalties after a goal-less draw in normal time.

    Goalkeeper Farouk Yawe was the hero on the day for Luwero United, saving three penalties (one in normal play) during their 4-2 post match victory against Buwambo United.

    This was the first of the double header play-off matches as the FUFA Regional League play-offs kicked off at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday.

    Yawe, who is also the team captain for Luwero United saved a penalty in the 40th minute off Bernado Kateregga as normal time ended goal-less.

    Then in the shoot out, he stopped Alex Kiyegga and Ronald Seku’s kicks from the penalty mark.

    Luwero United scorers in the post match penalties were Joshua Kigozi, Joseph Nkabirwa, Ivan Nambafu Pepera and Tadeo Ddumba.

    Buwambo United’s two penalties converted came from captain Saul Ntambazi and William Kinene.

    Now Luwero United will face CATDA in Saturday’s final to determine which club qualifies to the 2020-21 Star Times FUFA Big League.

    Friday, 23rd October 2020 is a rest day for both clubs.

    Uganda Cranes Head Coach Johnathan McKinstry has named a 20 man squad of foreign based players for the two AFCON 2021 Qualifiers against South Sudan to be played between 9th and 17th November 2020.

    The announcement of the squad was made during the Press conference held on Thursday morning at FUFA House in Mengo. Mckinstry was flanked at the press conference by his 1st Assistant coach Abdallah Mubiru.

    2020 StarTimes FUFA Big League Play-offs (Final):

    Kitara 1-0 Kiboga Young

    Kitara Football Club got promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for the season 2020-21.

    This followed a well worked out 1-0 win against Kiboga Young during the final of the promotional play-offs played on Wednesday, 21st October 2020.

    Striker Brian Muluuli Mayanja was the hero with a great header on 55 minutes after being assisted by team captain Maxwel Owachagui.

    Mark Twinamatisko, head coach at Kitara saluted the character of his charges.

    ‘We played our hearts out and the players were all committed. I salute them in a special way’ Twinamatisko stated.

    Kitara now joins the two other promoted clubs; Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) who were promoted earlier.

    FUFA has confirmed that another set of mouth watering games involving 16 FUFA Regional clubs and FUFA Women Elite League will swing into action on Thursday 22nd October 2020.

    All the action will be Exclusively live on 1021. FUFA fm and Facebook- Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

    There will be 12 FUFA Regional Legaue Playoff matches and One (1) FUFA Women Elite League Play off.

    According to the FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein, all these 13 matches will be broadcast Exclusively Live on 102.1 FUFA fm and Facebook- Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

    2020 StarTimes FUFA Big League Promotional Final:

    Wednesday, 21st October – Kitara Vs Kiboga Young (12 pm)

    On Wednesday, 21st October 2020, Kitara and Kiboga Young Football Club shall square off during the final of the StarTimes FUFA Big League promotional play-off at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

    To make it to the final, Hoima based Kitara overcame Mbale’s Kataka 7-6 in post match penalties after a goal-less draw in normal time during the first encounter.

    The second game witnessed Kiboga Young out-muscle Ndejje University 3-1 with strikes coming from captain Jamaldine Buchochera, Brian Olega and Sula Wambede.

    Ndejje University had got the opening goal via a Sulaiman Tumusiime’s kick from the penalty spot.

    Prior to the final game, the two coaches of the respective sides are positive and ready to deliver their best.

    ‘We are not leaving anything to chance. Football is maracado. It is termed the beautiful game of hard work. We have worked hard and ready to qualify for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League’ Richard Makumbi, head coach at Kiboga Young remarked.

    His counterpart at Kitara FC Mark Twinamatisko also expressed the readiness to register success.

    ‘Kitara Football Club is ready to make face Kiboga Young in the final. We are physically ready with no injuries and mentally strong’ Twinamatisko revealed.

    Key players to watch:

    The StarTimes FUFA Big League top scorer from the regular season, Brian Muluuli Mayanja of Kitara is one of the players to key watch of all.

    Others are captain Maxwell Owachgui, goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba, creative midfielder Jamil Nvule Kisitu, the ‘age-less’ defender Musa Docca and striker George Senkaaba.

    The Kiboga Young star players are goalkeeper Steven Mukomba, captain Jamadlin Buchochera, their top scorer Luka Okori, Pascal Irasa, Brian Olega and Gody Otika among others.

    Meanwhile, FUFA has confirmed the match officials who will officiate this eagerly awaited final of the promotional FUFA Big League play-offs.

    Wednesday, 21st October 2020 – Final: Kitara Vs Kiboga Young (12 PM) – FUFA Technical Center, Njeru

    Kitara will square up with Kiboga in the final of the promotional play-offs this Wednesday, 21st October 2020 under closed doors.

    In the first semi-final, Kitara ejected Kataka 7-6 in post match penalties after normal time had ended goal-less.

    Denis Monday, Phillip Sempira, Samuel Adibo, Patrick Mugume, Musa Docca, skipper Maxwell Owachgiu and Dan Ekoyu scored for Kitara

    Peter Lumolo missed his kick.

    Emmanuel Mukisa, Joel Baba Onziku, Hassan Wadenga, Moses Ssekasana, Azizi Nambobi and Nassur Nandala scored for Kataka.

    Yusuf Ezama and team captain Peter Lusimbula were denied by goalkeeper Denis Kiyimba.

    The second game was won by Kiboga Young, who came from a goal down to beat Ndejje University 3-1.

    Ndejje University scored a first half goal through Sula Tumusiime’s kick from the penalty mark after 35 minutes.

    Kiboga Young returned an energized party, complete from the first half team, scoring three goals in the closing stanza.

    Captain Jamaldine Buchochera, Brian Olega and Sula Wambede scored the goals for Kiboga Young, a side coached by Richard Makumbi, arguably the most successful tactician in Uganda who has promoted most clubs.

    Before the start of both matches, there was a special occasion dedicated to all those who succumbed to COVID-19 with a moment of silence.

    The final will be played on Wednesday with the winner making to the StarTimes FUFA Big League.

    The growth of FUFA Membership calls for strong organization through proper structures to handle the day to day activities at various levels in the Regions.

    With FUFA Membership now at 34 now, there is need to improve service delivery and operations between FUFA Secretariat in Mengo and the other organs of FUFA. The recruitment of eight Regional General Secretaries has helped improve on the Reporting Systems which trickles down to the District Football Associations (DFAs) for a proper Evaluation System. 

    The current system also calls for proper administration, accountability of finances (Financial Assistance Programme) and activities which must be enforced.

    FUFA Achievements

    • FUFA has continued to give financial support to its members; UGX 25M per Member Association (MA) each year.
    • Improved operations between FUFA Secretariat and the Delegates/Members of FUFA following the creation of the Member Associations Offices (SIGs Offices, RFAs)
    • Recruited 8 Regional General Secretaries all paid by FUFA to handle daily operations
    • Football related wrangles that existed in some RFAs or DFAs have been addressed in areas like Kalangala –Buganda RFA, Sebei sub-region in Eastern RFA, Kyenjojo, Bundibugyo -Kitara RFA and Northern Region.
    • Admitted new members to the FUFA Assembly– Uganda Football Players Association, Futsal Association of Uganda and National Women Football Leagues.
    • Women representation in the Assembly has increased and now stands at eight.
    • At least one Delegate travels with the National team on each foreign trip
    • Leader of Delegation (LOD) of the National team is a reserve of the FUFA Exco Member
    • FUFA has developed a working guide (FUFA Land Acquisition Manual) that encourages Member Associations to find land to donate to FUFA for development of the game.
    • The Member Associations and Clubs have organised their Annual General Assemblies as required by the FUFA Statutes.
    • FUFA provides monthly facilitation to Delegates (Amounting UGX 528M)
    • Acquired Medical Insurance for Delegates and Members of the Executive Committee

    At the 92nd FUFA General Assembly in 2015 held in Soroti, FUFA approved the Regional Football Association Strategy where the following interventions were made to the eight (8) Regions;

    1. Financial Assistance of 240m UGX in 2017
    2. The Balls Distribution Programme
    3. The Education Plan
    4. Supervision & Mentorship
    5. Offices with Facilities
    6. Infrastructure

    FUFA held its 96th Ordinary General Assembly on 17th October 2020 at Silver Springs Hotel- Bugolobi.

    The Ordinary Assembly is statutory and must be held every year as per FUFA Statutes.

    The entire preparations are done by the FUFA Secretariat headed by Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson.
