    FUFA Competitions Department has confirmed the change of venue for the 2016 FUFA Super Cup to be played on Sunday 14th August.

    The FUFA Super Cup is a football contest between Azam Uganda Premier League Champions and Uganda Cup Winners.

    KCCA FC lifted the league while Vipers SC won the Uganda cup played on a knock out basis.Vipers defeated Onduparaka 3-1 in the cup final played at Nakivubo stadium.

    The new venue is Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
    FUFA made the change after the management of Nakivubo stadium confirmed the unavailability of the original venue which had been selected for the match.

    ‘We are glad to inform our stakeholders for this match-Vipers SC and KCCA FC plus the fans that the new venue for the FUFA Super Cup is Mutessa II stadium. We believe the fans will enjoy the atmosphere at the new stadium since it is also a historical ground in the football circles of Uganda’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein

    FUFA Competitions Director Ali Mwebe also confirmed that the detailed programme of the match will be released midweek.

    ‘We are making final plans for the match to make it a success to pave way for the kickoff of the Uganda Premier league’ said Mwebe.

    Club Football: FUFA forms a club licensing appeals committee

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) through the Executive Members formed a Club Licensing appeals committee.
    The committee will cater for discontented clubs which wont be considered by the Club Licensing committee which does the vetting of the Uganda Premier League clubs to see which one qualifies to be lincesed and eligible to take part in the FUFA sanctioned competitions.
    The committee is composed of five members chaired by FUFA Executive Committee member, Agnes Mugena, Ali Tomusange (Vice Chairman ),Alexander Kibandama(Legal), Dr Rock Kakomo and a former Uganda Cranes international, Fred Tamale .
    The club licensing committee will end inspection of clubs on Friday 5th August 2016 and do the evaluation of the findings on the following Saturday where by on Monday it avail the findings.
    Clubs which meet all the requirements will be given full license and those with partial requirements will receive a temporally license while those which will have failed will have to days to appeal to the appeals committee and in case the appeal is not considered that Club will be relegated to the Regional level .

    Beach Soccer: Sand Cranes to miss tie against Egypt

    Uganda National Beach soccer team-Sand Cranes will miss their second opportunity to play a high profile team on the Continent after financial constraints led to the withdrawal of the team from the Africa Championship qualifiers.

    Uganda was due to play Egypt on the weekend of 26th-28th in Entebbe.

    ‘FUFA confirms that the Sand Cranes will not feature in the Africa Beach soccer championship this year due to a congested CAF/FIFA Calendar in the next three months. However resources will be mobilised to support other Beach Soccer activities in the country’

    Uganda played its first official continental fixture against Ghana in 2015.

    Northern region for FUFA Club Pro Agenda due next week in Lira

    The FUFA Club Pro Agenda will roll out for the first time in Northern Uganda next week as Big League sides Sporting United FC and Bright Light FC become the first beneficiaries of the programme aimed at professionalising the beautiful game of football in the country.

    The workshop will be held in Lira on 2nd and 3rd August, 2016 where both clubs are based.

    FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo who is a certified FIFA Football Administration Instructor and FUFA Executive Committee Member Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel  will make the trip to Lira for the presentation on various areas about football.

    ‘The FUFA President will meet the two clubs to draw plans on hot to professionalise football at this level. We are using the two clubs are pioneers of the programme in Northern Uganda and will later spread to other parts of the country’ said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.

    Mbale, Iganga, Masaka and Mbarara are traditional football hubs that have been identified by FUFA for this similar programme.

    Currdnt llubs playing in the Azam Uganda Premier League will enjoy such programmes upon application through the office of the FUFA Chief Executive Officer.

    Buganda Region Football Association delegates hold meeting with FUFA President

    FUFA Assembly Delegates  from Buganda  Region Football Associations held a cordial meeting with FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at FUFA House on Wednesday morning.

    FUFA President who is fresh from Nigeria where he met the FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss issues with other FA Presidents about African football said that it is always part of his plans to meet all FUFA’s 32 members.

    ‘Such opportunities give me chance to meet the members and delegates and discuss issues coupled with challenges in their regions’

    Eng. Magogo alos confirmed that he will attend the Buganda Region FA Annual Assembly due this Saturday at Standard High Zanna.

    The entire delegation also took time to visit the studios of 102.1 FUFA fm where the Chairman of Buganda region FA Hajji Sulaiman Sejengo urged all football fans to turn up in big numbers on 3rd September 2016 at Namboole stadium when Uganda Cranes play Comoros in the 2017 AFCON Qualifier.

    Referees delegate to the FUFA Assembly Hajji Yusuf Kamulegeya and the CEO Muzafaru Ssebagala also attended the meeting.

    Azam Uganda Premier League: Kick off confirmed for 19th August 2016

     

    Ahead of the highly anticipated Azam Uganda Premier League 2016/2017 season, the FUFA Licensing Committee has intensified its work of ensuring that the Clubs fulfill the necessary requirements before kickoff on 19th August 2016.

    While addressing the media at FUFA House in Mengo, the Chairman FUFA Club Licensing Committee Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel highlighted the importance of exercise.

    ‘The aim of club licensing is to improve the management of the game from Amateur to Professional level as guided by CAF and  FIFA’ said Dr. Ogwel

    He further outlined the new amendments in the club licensing regulations as noted below;

    • The Club CEO should be a signatory to the club bank account
    • The minimum qualification for the Head coach and his assistant should be CAF B coaching license holder in the Azam Uganda Premier League
    • Coaches for the FUFA Juniors Elite League (u-17) teams should posses a minimum of a CAF C coaching license

    The Club licensing process is in progress with a lot of attention put on Criteria A that involves;

    • Payments of Shs 2 millions, submission of budgets, sources of Funds, CEO Certificate and his contract with the club, Current bank statement, Medical Personnel and his contract, Contract of coach and proof of his License, Tenancy Agreement (Office and Stadium) , U-17 team with name of coach who has a  CAF C coaching License.

    Only KCCA FC and Soana  FC have fulfilled the above requirements as yet while Lweza FC, BUL FC, JMC Hippos, Kirinya Jinja SS,Proline, SC Villa, Bright Stars, Police FC, The Saints, Sadolin Paints and URA have partially fulfilled the requirements for criteria A.

    Three Clubs; SC Vipers, Onduparaka FC and Express are yet to submit any of the listed requirements under criteria A.

    A Club has to fulfill at least 50 % of the requirements to be given a provisional license and 70 % for a complete license .

    The ticket prices for the crucial Uganda Cranes versus Comoroa AFCON 2017 group D qualifiers have been officially released by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Wednesday, 27th July 2016.

    The FUFA International Match organizing committee chairman, Dr. Benard Patrick Ogwel released the prices for all the ticket catergories during the weekly press conference at Mengo in Kampala.

    ‘We have released the match ticket prices early to enable our beloved supporters plan and prepare for the historic match’ Dr. Ogwel, who was flanked by the FUFA Comunications Director, Ahmed Hussein stated during the well attended press conference.

    Uganda Cranes versus Comoros AFCON 2017 group D qualifier slated for the 3rd September 2016 at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

    Ticket Price Catergories:

    The gold tickets (VVIP) will cost Ug.shs 150,000, fans in the blue seats (VIP) will pay  Ug.shs 60,000 and the general wing (ordinary tickets) will cost Ug.shs 25,000.

    ‘We encourage as many fans to get their tickets early as soon as they are officially released on sale’ Dr. Ogwel, also the Chairperson of the FUFA Club licensing committee added.

    Complimentary match day tickets will be processed for the media and other stake holders including sponsors and other FUFA partners through accreditation process.

    Beach Soccer: Beginners’ coaching, refereeing courses start in Western region

    The Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) run coaching and refereeing courses for the Western region have started at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara.

    There are over 40 participants coming from all the eight districts that make up the Western region.

    UBSA chairman, Deo Mutabazi hinted on the importance of the course with a  four year strategic plan that started in 2013.

    ‘We have started with capacity building commencing with the Western Uganda region’  Mutabazi stated.

    The course that has attracted 19 referees and 21 coaches was officially opened by Bishop Stuart PRO Rose Rwankole who represented Vice Chancellor Prof. Moudah Kamatenesi but UBSA officials led by their Chairman Mutabazi later paid her a courtesy visit where they presented to her a Uganda Cranes jersey.

    After the Western region, the programme will continue with the Eastern and Kitara regions.

    Early next year, the regions of West Nile, Northern Uganda and  North East shall be encroached.

    Ex-Internationals share football ideas with FUFA President

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and the cordial relationship with the Ex-Internationals continues to follow the right directional path and trend.

    On Wednesday, over 60 Ex-internationals shared various developmental football ideas with the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.

    In a fruitful meeting held at Jevine Hotel in Ndeeba, the Ex-Internationals freely and openly expressed their views of how best football matters should be addressed.

    The meeting was organized by the Uganda Football Players Association (UFPA) whose chairman is Patrick Ntege.

    ‘We thank FUFA for accepting this special platform where we have been able to exchange ideas on football development’ Paul Mutakabala, the Chief Executive Officer of UFPA noted.

    FUFA president Eng. Moses appreciated the heartily submissions from each of the Ex-Internationals and promised to act amicably.

    ‘This is a very special moment for Uganda’s football. I am happy that the football discussion has reached this far. As the President, i promise to help. We shall continue to engage you (Ex-internationals).’ Eng. Magogo said in his address.

    The Ex-players, who also included the former Crested Cranes players hinted on different aspects ranging from absorbing some of the former players into the current FUFA set up, empowerment, FUFA helping former players in initiating income generation and saving SACCOS through Ex-players’ schemes, recognizing and attaching value to former players among others.

    Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) continues to promote the wing of  fulfilling the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through sports.

    After the recent charity cause attached to the 2016 Uganda Cup where FUFA partnered with the Missionaries of the Poor organization in Kisenyi, the federation continues to front the CSR programmes with one set for this weekend in Nakasongola and the other for 13th August but aimed at fundraising towards the completion  of the Kingdom of the Lord ,Seeta Archdeaconry in Mukono.

    The weekly press conference was attended by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Executive Committee member Samuel Mpiima and the Venerable Enos Kitto Kagodo of Seeta Archdeaconry.

    The Archdeacon was accompanied by Omutaka Kaddu Namutwe-Head of Laity Mukono Diocese and Moses Kikaawa Tenywa, Mobiliser of the Seeta Archdeaconry.

    FUFA on Wednesday during the weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo officially launched a working relationship with the Seeta Archdeaconry  through which they will also help in mobilising the public to come and attend the match against Comoros.

    ‘We are glad to associate with FUFA. We have organised a marathon on the 13th August 2016 and a prayer day for the Uganda Cranes before the Comoros game. We shall inform and encourage our congregations in Church to come in big numbers for the marathon in Seeta and also urge them to attend the crucial match against Comoros on 3rd September in Namboole’ Kitto noted.

    ‘FUFA wishes to thank Seeta Archdeaconry. We shall continue to associate in CSR activities to involve the football family. FUFA will support the marathon by buying 100 tickets each sold at 10,000/-‘ Eng. Magogo said.

    FUFA House in Mengo has also been designated as one of the ticket selling centres for the marathon which has two categories- 5km and 10kms.

    The marathon to be graced by the Chief of Defence Forces General Katumba Wamala will take place on 13th August 2016 and the prayer day will be held on Sunday 28th August before the Comoros game.

    Referees assessors’ course starts at Njeru

    Refereeing education remains a core pillar in as far as raising the status-quo of the beautiful game in Uganda is concerned.

    Following the successful completion of the nation wide referees’ promotion examinations where 250 participants took part, yet another big step has been embarked on.

    On Friday, 14th July 2016, a total of 85 retired referees and those active referee assessors started the three day Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Referee Assessors course at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru.

    The course will from the 14th through to 16th July 2016 seeks to evaluate the Assessors and also introduce them to new methodologies in the discharge of their duties.

    The FUFA President and FIFA Administration Instructor Eng. Moses Magogo opened the course.

    He appealed to the participants to keep abreast with technological advancement trends.

    The game is changing every day that passes-by and you must change too You just move at the same pace with the game.Practicing Licenses shall only be given to assessors who are active.

    Go and do it at regional or district level or you can volunteer if possible. We as Fufa we are interested in your activeness.

    Course Units:

    The three-day course which embrace a couple of theoretical sessions that include Football Administration, Assessment process, Video and Match Analysis, Online reporting, Methodology and Teaching practices as well the use of the CAF Content Management System (CMS).

    In his opening remarks, Chris Kalibala, the FUFA Referees Committee chairperson and FUFA Executive Committee member welcomed the participants to the course, which he described as a new programme to select a panel of Referee Assessors. He said participants would train on how to incorporate online/electronic report writing in their reports in line with the latest technologies.

    Refereeing: FUFA assessors’ course on, referees promotional results out

    In a bid to further up lift the standards of refereeing in the entire country, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will continue to set standards in the department.

    About 30 referee assessors are at the FUFA Technical center undertaking the referee assessors’ course, which is meant to further act as a directional tool box ahead of the vigorous football season.

    In the same vein, a month ago, over 250 referees across all the eight FUFA regions were engaged in the promotional examinations.

    Results from the examinations were officially released on Wednesday by the chairperson, FUFA referees’ committee, Chris Kalibala.

    ‘FUFA referees assessors’ course is compulsory for all the active referee assessors in the country. It is intended to further prepare them ahead of the season to come.’ Kalibala asserted.

    He handed over the results from the promotional exercise that was held in Buganda, Kampala, Western, Kitara, North East, Eastern and West Nile regions.

    250 national referees participated in the referees’ promotional exercise.

    Two thirds of the referees passed the examinations (theory and practicals) with overwhelming flying colours.

    Results for each and every referee can be accessed from the offices of the regional headquarters.

    Planning: FUFA 2016/17 Activity Calendar released

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) activity calendar for the 2016/17 season was released on Wednesday, 14th July 2016.

    The activity calendar was officially revealed to the public by the FUFA competitions director, Ali Mwebe.

    Mwebe highlighted the need to have a well planned activity plan to help in the smooth flow of all activities lined up.

    ‘We have planned well to have all the domestic and international events accommodated in respect to the CAF and FIFA calendars’ Mwebe noted.

    The FUFA Super Cup will be played on 14th August 2016 whilst the Azam Uganda Premier league kick off has been ear-marked for 19th August (subject to confirmation by the Uganda Premier league secretariat).

    Uganda Cranes Vs Nakasongola Select – St Lawrence play ground, Migyera (3 p.m)

    Uganda Cranes continues with the countrywide regional tours in a bid to rally support for the national team when they visit Nakasongola on Saturday, 23rd July 2016.

    There is a charity match that has been organized by Radio Simba in conjunction with the Buganda Region Football Association (BRFA).

    This fixture will witness the Nakasongola community host the national team at St Lawrence S.S play ground, Migyera with the main intention of raising funds for the Nakasongola Health Center IV.

    The detailed programme was released at a press conference held on Wednesday at FUFA House.

    Several Radio Simba officials and staff attended the press conference.

    Co-ordinator, Ivan Kyeyune noted that at least U.shs 120M is needed for the Nakasongola Health Center (Ambulance, Scan, Maternity Ward, Beds and Mattresses).

    This is a continuation of the Uganda Cranes’ regional tours in a bid to rally for support for the national team from the country-side.

    On 31st July 2016, Uganda Cranes will play Buganda Region at the Masaka Recreational stadium.

    Buganda CEO, Muzafaru Ssebagala who also attended the press conference thanked the Federation for the initiative.

    ‘I thank FUFA for observing Article 5 of Buganda Regional Football Associations Statures which states that we shall promote friendly relations between clubs, officials and players and in society for humanitarian objectives’ Ssebagala remarked.

    He notified the media that already Buganda’s 25 man squad had been summoned ready to battle the Uganda Cranes.

    Technical: FIFA M.A Goalkeeping course concludes at Njeru

    The five-day Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Member Association (M.A) goalkeeping coaching course accorded to FUFA ended successfully on Friday in Njeru.

    A total of 26 participants (consisting of Azam Uganda Premier League and Big league club) took part in the course held at the FUFA Technical center.

    This high profile course ran from the 25th June to 1st  July 2016.

    It was conducted by FIFA Instructor Mr. Bob Broweays from Belgium who took the participants through theory and practical sessions through out the duration of the course.

    Representing the FUFA president at the closing ceremony, the Federation Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson appreciated FIFA in a special way for the endeavors of promoting football in Uganda.

    Today is an immense day for Ugandan Football, because what we are concluding here is the first course that FIFA holds for us, this is a very clear indication that the world body was always with us in all our endeavours for football progression.

    The main objective behind the organization of this course was solely to improve the quality and quantity of our goalkeepers both men and women.

    Now we do not have enough goalkeepers and as well as enough goalkeeper coaches, but I am sure that we are on the way to grow from where we are now and that actually will happen.

    FIFA instructor Bob Broweays lauded the coaches for their commitment and determination to learn more skills.

    FUFA Education Officer Jackson Nyima, too commended FIFA and FUFA for these marathon of courses.

    At the end of the closing ceremony, all the coaches were received their certificates.

    FUFA handed over special gifts of appreciation to the instructor that included the treasured Uganda Cranes jersey.

    I am glad to have completed the course. It has been enriching and i thank FUFA together with FIFA for the initiative.

    Uganda Cranes trio help St George to league title in Ethiopia

    Three Uganda Cranes ambassadors, Robert Odongkara, Brian Umony and Isaac Isinde guided St George football club to their 28th league success in the Ethiopian premier league.

    St George were officially crowned 2015/16 league winners on Wednesday night following a 2-1 home victory to Hawassa during the last fixture of the season played in Addis Ababa.

    Robert Odongkara, for the fifth time in a row was named the best goalkeeper of the season.

    FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo congratulated the three players and their team upon the success.

    Referring Odong’kara’s individual success script to that achieved by Mamelodi Sundowns first choice goalie, Dennis Onyango, the FUFA President noted with excitement.

     What a year for Uganda’s Goalkeepers. Dennis Onyango named the best in South Africa and now Odong’kara Robert named the best in Ethiopia.

    Let us celebrate as a country for Onyango Denis and Robert Odong’kara.

    Women Football: Elite League top scorer dedicates award to FUFA President Magogo

    For the second year running, Kawempe Muslim secondary school sharp striker, Sandra Nabweteeme scooped the top scorers’ accolade.

    In the 2014/15 season, she scored 17 goals to take home the most goal scorers’ award as well as the FUFA female footballer of the year accolade.

    In the subsequent season, she finished with 23 goals to her name.

    Nabweteeme has dedicated the 2015/16 season to the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo.

    Now a member of the senior national side, the Uganda Crested Cranes she noted;

    I dedicate this award of mine to the FUFA president Engineer Moses Magogo.

    You are my role model in leadership.

    Kawempe Muslim Secondary School women football club has written history as the first club to win two consecutive national league titles.

    The positive development followed a nail biting 4-2 penalty triumph after an  action packed goal-less ninety minutes of an exciting final played at Nakivubo Stadium in the heart of the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
