    FUFA Big League (Second Division): Eight fixtures to grace Thursday, 17th March 2016

    The FUFA Big League returns to action on Thursday, 17th March 2016 with eight fixtures on Card.

    Four shall be played in the Elgon group and the other set in Rwenzori.

    Zombo based Paidha Black Angels who overcame Kira Young 4-1 at the Kira Town Council play ground stayed within Kampala and travel to Luwero on Thursday to play Ndejje University football club.

    Kira Young themselves embark on the journey to Hoima district where they take on Boma Young at the Boma play ground.

    Artland Katale hosts Bukedea Town Council at the Mashariki High School, off Entebbe road.

    The other Elgon group game is at the Lango sports ground when Sporting United hosts Water F.C.

    In a key Rwenzori group game, Wandegeya is at home to table leaders Proline F.C at Kanyanya play ground.

    Entebbe F.C is away to Nyakasanga where they will play Sun City meanwhile, Kirinya – Jinja S.S has traveled to Masaka where they will play the home side, Synergy at the Masaka Recreational stadium.

    Three clubs shall be promoted to the Azam Uganda Premier League.

    The best clubs per group at the end of the season will qualify directly to the top league with the third club determined via a promotional play off.

    M.A FIFA Elite Referees course continues with physical drills

    The FIFA Member Association (M.A) Referees and Assessors’ Elite course has continued with the physical drills in Jinja.

    The course is set to run for six successive days between Sunday, 13th up to 18th March 2016.

    Samuel Egesa, the FUFA Referees Manager says the course started on Sunday with medical tests.

    On Monday morning at 7am, physical fitness tests and sprints rolled off.

    FUFA Referees Manager Samuel Egesa, Ronnie Kalema-Head of FUFA Referees Assessment Committee and National Referees Fitness Instructor Ali Kalyango are the FUFA officials that supervised the exercise with a keen eye from three FIFA referees instructors; Carlos Henriques (Regional Development Officer from Gaborone), Felix Tangawarina (Technical Instructor from Zimbabwe) and Mark Mzengo (Fitness Instructor from Malawi).

    Following last Friday’s league games (3), the top flight division in the country, Azam Uganda Premier League returns on Tuesday with six games on the menu.

    The Saints F.C host Sadolin Paints at Namboole with yet another target at hand, to seek maximum points as they continue with the desperate fight against relegation.

    This match will be live on Azam TV. Patrick Senfuka is subject to a late fitness test as two of The Saints players – Yasin Mugume and Hassan Musana recover from the long Arua trip when they traveled with the national team to the West Nile regional tour on Friday and Saturday.

    Lweza plays host to URA at Wankulukuku in the other game hardly 48 hours after winning 4-1 in the Uganda Cup against Kamuli Park.

    Current league champions, KCCA F.C is at their Nakivubo stadium home to Stubborn Soana.

    JMC Hippos hosts Express at the intimidating Bugembe stadium in Jinja.

    At the Champions Stadium in Mwerewe, Bright Stars is at home to Jinja side, BUL F.C in what proves to be an epic battle.

    Bright Stars has had an impressive start to the second round winning two and drawing once.

    They are expected to welcome back three of their key players – team captain Bernard Muwanga, goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya and Joseph Nsubuga who were with the national team at the Uganda Cranes regional tour of West Nile.

    BUL had two players – Milton Karisa and Yunus Sibira on the national team.

    FUFA Big League: Victories for Proline, Synergy, Ndejje University

    The FUFA Big league returned to the mix with nine games on Thursday afternoon. Five matches were played in the Rwenzori group and the remainder in Elgon.

    The top of the table contest between Proline and Masavu ended in favour of the former.

    Proline’s goal was scored by Emmanuel Asiku in the 38th Minute as the leaders won 1-0 against Masavu.

    Proline now leads the Rwenzori group with 39 points, 10 adrift of second placed Masavu.

    FUFA Big League: Hassan Kange double lifts CRO over Baza Holdings

    FUFA Big League (Elgon Group):

    Wednesday Result: CRO F.C 2-1 Baza Holdings F.C

    CRO football club has on Wednesday won 2-1 at home over visiting Baza Holdings in Mbale.

    This was during the only FUFA Big league match played on the day with the rest of the games coming up on Thursday, 10th March 2016.

    Hassan Kange scored a brace on the day. He opened the scoring in the added minute of the first half before his 78th minute penalty gave CRO a two goal advantage.

    Towards the climax of the game, the visitors pulled a goal back through Jimmy Matovu to give the game a tense finish although CRO held on to earn their fourth victory of the campaign that places them on 8th with 16 points in the Elgon group.

    Baza Holdings is further condemned to the seventh loss of the season and remain bottom lagged on 12 points from 15 games.

    Planning: Clubs Chairmen & CEO’s set for Re-treat at Njeru

    Azam Uganda Premier League chairmen and Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s) will embark on laying a 10 year strategic plan with a two day symposium at the FUFA Tcehnical Center, Njeru.

    The residential symposium is slated to place between 18th and 20th March 2016.

    Resolutions from the meet will formulate the ‘Njeru Code’, upon which Uganda’s club football will be managed in line with archiving the set targets in the 10 year timeline.

    This symposium follows a number of FUFA administrative and management courses to equip the football administrators with the knowledge and skills of football management.

    Azam Uganda Premier league:

    Lweza Football Club 2-1 Vipers Sports Club

    Lweza has defeated Vipers in the only game played on the international women’s day at Wankulukuku stadium.

    In the match which was televised live to thousands of people across the continent, the opening 45 minutes produced no goals for either sides.

    In the second half, the game opened up when Uganda Cranes’ striker Erisa Ssekisambu scored in the 85th minute to cancel Juma Bagala’s 69th opener.

    CHAN 2016 Uganda Cranes forward, Geofrey Sserunkuma, a late second half substitute for Emmanuel Kalyowa came with the match winner in the very last minute of the four added minutes.

    The Azam Uganda Premier League defending Champions, Vipers Sports Club return to action after their debut CAF Champions league expedition with an away match to fast improving Lweza F.C.

    The match will be played at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on the International Women’s day (8th March 2016).

    Either sides won by an identical 2-0 scoreline in the last matches played on Saturday.

    Vipers defeated Jinja side, Sadolin Paints F.C in Buikwe as the Orange men (Lweza) edged Maroons in Luzira.

    Vipers coach, George ‘Best’ Nsimbe is well aware of such opposition as Lweza

    “We need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season” as he told the club official website.

    Nsiimbe will miss the services of forward William Wadri, defenderShafik Bakaki, tennage striker Alfred Leku and back left Dan Birikwarira but the good news though, defender Halid Lwaliwa returns from injury and replaces Alfred Leku who will not make the trip away.

    Mike Mutyaba returns to the same ground that has been home (since his first round playing time with Express F.C).

    He will need to replicate the goal scoring touch like in the previous match together with Erisa Ssekisambi, Kezironi Kizito and Saddam Ibrahim Juma.

    On the other hand, Lweza F.C looks to the fine form of Moses Ndawula, new signings Paddy Muhumuza and Emmanuel Kalyowa as well as Uganda Cranes CHAN 2016 forward Geofrey Sserunkuma for inspiration.

    Baza Holdings F.C 0-2 Onduparaka F.C

    Muhammed Shaban and Ceasar Olega scored a goal in either half to give Elgon Group leaders, Onduparaka F.C a 2-0 away victory over Baza Holdings at the Kawempe Muslim secondaryschool play ground on Saturday.

    The victory now elevates the Arua based side to 38 points, nine better of second placed Sporting United from Lira.

    Onduparaka F.C has played 17 games, one more than Sporting United.

    The game on Saturday was the only one  on the day with the other fixtures coming up on Thursday, 10th March 2016.

    Three clubs will be promoted to the Azam Uganda Premier League.

    The Azam Uganda Premier League continued with seven matches played on Saturday at various venues.

    A total of ten (10) goals were scored with The Saints F.C having the lion’s share of the goals galore in the 4 -0 home win over Soana at the Nelson Mandela National stadium.

    Patrick Senfuka, Isaac Kirabira, Yasin Mugume and left full back Hassan Musana were all on target for the Moses Basena coached side.

    Defending champions, Vipers S.C played their first game of the second round posting a 2-0 home victory at the hands of Sadolin Paints at Buikwe stadium.

    Ibrahim Saddam Juma and Mike Mutyaba scored for Vipers who returned to domestic league action since the CAF Champions league preliminary round home and away matches to Nigeria’s Enyimba F.C.

    The victory takes Vipers to 31 points with just four points behind Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club.

    Current league leaders, KCCA F.C suffered a set back when they fell 1-0 to BUL F.C at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

    David Kizza was the hero of the day with a well taken 34th minute goal.

    There were two goal-less stalemates played in the seven matches on card.

    Lweza F.C returned to winning ways, triumphing 2-0 at the hands of Maroons F.C in Luzira.

    A goal in each half from Michael Kabanda and Fred Kalanzi inspired Lweza to the much needed three points in the pouch.

    Lweza is now 11th with 22 points earned.

    Bright Stars and URA at Mwererwe failed to produce any goal and so was the Jinja Municipal Council Hippos and Sports Club Villa Jogoo tie at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

    Ben Ocen scored the only goal of the match for Police against Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) in the Azam Uganda Premier League match played on Friday evening at Kavumba Recreational grounds.

    The win propelled Police FC to 2nd place on the table with 29  points, six behind leaders KCCA FC.

    In a joint pre-match Azam Uganda Premier League press conference held on Thursday morning at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole,  a number of club coaches and captains promised to exhibit the best ahead of the weekend fixtures lined up.

    This was the first joint pre-match press conference organized by the FUFA Super league Limited.

    Uganda Premier League (UPL) Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Bainamani urged the clubs to respect the pre and post match press conferences as a way of disseminating information to the public in a timely and orderly manner.

    We shall be conducting similar pre-match press conferences ahead of the matches to be played. I urge the clubs to be cooperative in this cause‘ he urged.

    Coaches freely interacted with the media personnel present hinting on the team news, injury updates and expected game plan ahead of their respective games at hand.

    The coaches in attendance were; Charles Ayiekhoh Lukula (Soana FC.), Angelo Lonyesi (Police F.C), Abdu Samadu Musafiri (Sadolin Paints F.C), Wasswa Bbosa (Express F.C), Simon Kirumira (Maroons F.C), Sadiq Wassa (URA F.C) and Joseph Mutyaba (Lweza F.C).

    They were accompanied by playing staff from the mentioned clubs. Sadolin Paints’ captain Peter Katumba, Lweza’s Ibrahim Kiyemba, Hamis Kitagenda (Soana) and Vincent Kayizzi (Express) were some of the players around.

    The media, players and coaches for the first time shared a common positive – fully embracing the idea.

    Having pre-match press conferences is a very welcome idea by UPL. Please keep it up as we share a lot together and build the brand of football in Uganda” Police F.C assistant coach, Angelo Lonyesi remarked.

    His comment was nodded in the affirmative by Vincent Kakoooza of the Red Pepper Publications.

    ‘This arrangement (pre-match press conference) will further help us plan for the matches ahead and as well guide players on how to interact with the media. We are all partners that need each other’ Kakooza reasoned.

    There are 8 matches set for the match day 18.

    The Second division league (FUFA Big league) returns on Thursday, 25th February 2016 after being pushed ahead last week due to the presidential and parliamentary elections.

    Ten matches shall be played on the day across the different playing facilities.

    Four matches will be played in Rwenzori group and the remaining six in the Elgon group.

    In the Rwenzori group, Kireka United is at their Namboole home (outside play grouns) to Hope Doves.

    Kireka United lost their first game of the second round, 3-0 to Kirinya/Jinja S.S.

    Proline Soccer Academy have a chance to stretch the lead at the summit of the Rwenzori group when they play host to Kasese district’s Sun City at Nakivubo stadium in Kampala.

    Elsewhere, Entebbe based Masavu F.C makes the trip to Masaka to play Synergy F.C and another Entebbe club, Entebbe F.C will entertain Wakiso United at Bugonga play ground.

    In the Elgon group, on form Onduparaka F.C, fresh from walloping Artland Katale 3-0 will host Water F.C at the green light arena.

    Lira United and CRO F.C shall be engaged in a 2 p.m fixture at Lango sports ground before a 4 p.m game between another Lira entity, Sporting United against Artland Katale F.C.

    In the other matches on the day, Boma Young will play footballing students, Ndejje University in Hoima as Bukedea Town council hosts Baza Holdings at Bukedea Primary school play ground.

    Promotion:

    Three clubs shall be promoted at the end of the 2015/16 to the Azam Uganda Premier League.

    Each of the top clubs (per group – Rwenzori and Elgon) earns a direct slot to the elite league.

    Meanwhile, the third club is determined via a promotional play off after the top two clubs per group play a semi-final before the final to determine the third club.

    Relegation:

    To create space for the clubs being promoted from the regional leagues, eight clubs (four per group) are relegated at the end of the season.

    The FUFA Referees Manager Egesa Wesonga Samuel has released appointments of referees who will handle the fixtures of the Azam Uganda Premier League during the month of February.

    The top flight league resumes on Tuesday 23rd February, 2016 with six games on card.

    UPL clubs receive match day balls ahead of second round kick off

    The Sixteen (16) Uganda Premier league clubs have each received their match day balls ahead of the highly anticipated start of the Azam Uganda Premier league second on Tuesday, 23rd February 2016.

    Handling over the balls to the clubs’ representatives during the press conference at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole board room on Monday, the UPL CEO, Bernard Bainamani appealed to the clubs to adhere to the match day balls provided;

    “Do not use any other balls apart from the match day balls provided. These are the ones that are supposed to be used during the matches”

    FSL Board chairperson, Arinaitwe Ruygendo appreciated the effort by clubs, FUFA, media, sponsors, fans and other stake holders to have a successful league.

    “With everybody’s efforts, we were able to have a successful round one. This is the product that we are building. The first 120 days in office have progressed smoothly but we are still working for an overall positive trend” he said.

    FUFA Executive committee member, Dennis Mbidde, AZAM TV general Manager, Simon Arinaitwe, FSL board members, club representatives attended the well covered press conference.

    On the same day, UPL launched their official website, www.upl.co.ug.

    The league second round kicks off on Tuesday, 23rd February 2016 with six games lined up on the juicy menu.
